"Good evening and welcome to this special edition of RNN. Rotovia's Federal Capital City, Attica* was in uproar today after the newly sworn in elected members of the Senate took office after one of the most turbulant elections in Rotovian History.

Hostilities began right from the begining when Dr Heywood, leader of the opposition refused to remove the Marxist Flag he and other members of the Communist Party had brought in with them.

Dr Heywood, who only returned from exile last night, claimed it was an expression of the Marxists returning to the Senate. However, many Conservative Party members were offended and their petetion to have the flags was granted by the Speaker of the House who stated "Protocol of Parliament clearly states no banner other than the Rotovian flag may be waved in the Senate Chambers".

Refusing to remove the banners Dr Heywood was given theoption of being forcabley removed, the flag confiscated and a three day ban from Parliament or removing it. After surrendering the flag, Dr Heywood lead a move to block the Bill of Supply. Being the Opposition Party the Communists had the nessacary votes to prevent a 2/3 majority being reached.

With no end to the blockade of legislation, the Liberal Government will enter into it's second day without accessable funding tommorow."
*Yup, I finally named it.

OOC: Your bills need a 2/3 majority for passage?

Why not call for new elections then?!

Why not call for new elections then?!OOC: Nearly everything does, which is why things take so long to happen in Rotovia. As for new elections, there is no cause to and we had to call two elections and a recount during the last one. It would be a huge waste of money.

IC:

Junior Cultural Attache: What a horrible system of government they have here... multi-party elections & a 2/3 majority needed... I'm glad we are a constitutional monarchy.

JCA's aid: Sir, did you say something? I was on the phone.

JCA: What?! You're fired!

"My Regent, there appears to be a disturbance in Rotovia..."

The Regent looked up from his desk, which was buried under ledgers and lists of names.

"And that is...?"
"Their supply bills have been blocked, by the communists... apparently they need 2/3 majority to pass those bills..."

In a corner of the room the First Minister was flicking through a large leather bound volume.

"This makes me glad that supply can only be delayed, and we only need 50% plus one member to pass them..." she muttered, running her finger down the page.
"I'll bet it does. Found anyone?"
"No. They all are... unsuitable... this one would never get popular support, that one would be killed by the Synod..."

The functionary leaned forward.

"My Regent, do we have a response?"

"Mmm? Oh. No. It's an internal matter. Rotovian business, not our business. The Imperial Government has no reaction to this, no position on this, and quite frankly, has its own problems and doesn't care. Dismissed."

"...that's one cat that won't be tapdancing anytime soon. Meanwhile on the political front, The President has announced the annual tribute from the Island of Crete will be used to fund the Government.

Political commentator Henry Shards has claimed that stand-offs between the Communists, Liberal and Conservatives will only increase with time and has predicted new elections within 12 months."

The Presiding Primus Inter Pares of the Central Committee of the Armed Republic of the Peoples Scotland, or Hobo as he's affectionatly called by the nation, hereby gives his press statment:

'We condem the actions of the Liberal Bourgeois regime in it's continued stealing of reasources from the peoples of the Island of Crete.
We hereby donate several printing presses and Marxist experts in social political activism and a small level of funding for them to spend in whatever way they see fit to Dr.Heywoods movment.

We fully support the Communist element within the exploiting imperial government of the Liberal Bourgeois and would advise them to abstain from the political process as the corrupt system will fall with such a large gap they would cause in the parliament.

Workers of Rotovia and the oppressed people of Crete unite!'

The Primus Inter Pares along with the room of assosiated press, Scottlish workers representatives and representatives from Rotovia and Crete burst into a rendering of the International.
Hobo, a slight tear in his eye, ends the press conferance and retires for the day.

Austica

The Kingdom of Austica advises the Government of Rotovia to request a half senate election from the head of state.

Clearly the people would see that the socialists in Rotovia have no intention but to starve the Government of money until they take power again.

If the government gains control of the senate through the elections, Austica would advise it to pass restrictive laws on the Senate, such as a a bill which would no longer require the senate to pass money bills.
