First Feazanthia-class Super Dreadnought put to sea!

Gaia Rodina
04-06-2004, 22:16
Premier Romanov looked at his new vessel with pride. At 811 meters long, it was easily the largest ship in the fleet. The loudspeakers finished blaring the Gaia Rodina national anthem, then proceeded to the Dancing Moose anthem. Kikoskriat's would be next.

Ah, the wonders of co-operation, thought Romanov. As the music died down, he stepped up to a granite podium and cleared his throat.
"This is the Antarctic's greatest hour. While we once were threatened on all sides by agressors, now we can finally assert our rightful place as a naval power in the world. This vessel, a marvel of modern engineering and one of the most powerful ships in existence, is what will seperate us from our enemies. We will be FEARED!" The crowd cheered. Romanov held his hands up for silence. "Several years ago, I offered my services to Commander James T. Wallace of Feazanthia to take up this project whilst he was dealing with an agressor. Unfortunately, the project would never return to its homeland. When I heard of the horrible events in Feazanthia, of which I'm sure we're all aware of, I vowed revenge. But we could not have done it alone. The forces of Dancing Moose and Kikoskriat, also horrified by the genocide in Feazanthia, offered their own engineering mastery to aid us in our quest for vengeance. This is our revenge. This is...THE FEAZANTHIA!"
He took a bottle of the finest vodka and smashed it against the hull. Wild cheering rolled through the crowd like thunder.

The crew of the Feazanthia, all top-of-their-class naval recruits, waved to loved ones from the deck of the gargantuan ship as the last supplies were loaded and the final internal diagnostics were completed. As the vessel powered up its multiple nuclear reactors, the five massive brass screws began spinning. The the four quad turrets, each housing four 30" guns, rotated 360 degrees one time to make sure they worked. The massive ship sailed out of Polyarny and into the frigid June morning waters.

Kikoskriat looks at this creation with a sense of pride as it views this ship as an achievement of modern man. To see such a large and powerful ship taking to the seas is something that will revolutionise naval warfare.

You'd think there'd be more interest in a vessel that can challenge a Doujin.
Daylam
04-06-2004, 22:46
Daylam, as a recent ally of Gaia Rodina, would be interested in sending a team of observes aboard the Feazanthiap. We would also like to inquire whether this beautiful ship will be used in the East Turkestan War.

OOC-What? You think I'd build a big, ultra-cool ship and just leave it around to look pretty? Heh. Hell yeah I'm sending it in...all that Granzi can do is make it need a new paintjob.

IC-

Gaia Rodina would of course allow a team of Daylami observers aboard the Feazanthia en-route to East Turkestan, provided that they stay out of the bridge and weapon control areas.

-=Press Release=-

At 2100 today, the Dancing Moose Yokosuka shipyards, in conjunction with the Gaia Rodinan shipyards, produced its first Carlyle Class Battlecruiser. This ship, a slightly smaller version of the Feazanthia Class, will be immediatly 'shipped' out to the Daylami situation along with the Dancing Moose First Fleet. A second Carlyle, which was launched approximately 6 hours after the first, is to also participate in the fleet movements.

OOC: My naval forces, Daylam, will be RPed in the thread shortly.

Good, that way I can destroy it in the Daylami Conflict

[I hate to say it but your vessal is still overmatched, especially with the new alloy armour Freethinkers and I helped design for Doujin's ships (I don't know if he's RPing it's use yet or not.)]

[The existance of this armour is Secret IC and the comment about the armour was OOC, so there's no way you should know about it. Even if by some miracle you did find out about it, I most definately wouldn't sell it to anyone who wasn't in the know about its creation.]

OOC: Hmmm, interesting.

Couple of questions.

1) Why so many different types of CIWS? That must create havoc for close-range fire control radars and such. My advice would be to have one primary type of CIWS, to increase ammunition and parts redundancies and improve fire control.

2) Supercav torpedoes are useless for a warship this large. They are too short-ranged for surface and cannot be used effectively against submarines because of the sheer noise they make.

3) Draft looks reasonable , but is the hull a monohull or a trimiran.

4) The armour could be improved significantly. You using multiple isolated layers of materials such as diamond that dont put up much resistence to missile and heavy impacts.

5) Tirdent and Posiedon dont fit in VLS cells, sorry, you will need specialist launchers for these. Not saying it cant carry them, but theyare signifcantly bigger than most weapons.

I want to buy 1. How much? I have a large budget and can spend up to and probably over $100 billion on this. I can even have an installment plan to pay over the years it takes to build.

Hhmmm SLBM tubes are interesting esspecailly if you size them for trident D-5 and then fill them with 7tomahawk's each (i assume you are aiming for a copy of the Ohio conventional refit plan system) but to be honest would be superfulous, just stick with more conventional small VLSs.

And as Freethinkers said it is insanely wasteful to ahve so many different CIWSs
