Chinese State News

Just behind me, you can see the massive formation of troops. President Jinson Xu has refused to comment on the massive military buildup, but fears escalate as the government of Mongolia speculates that it is the pre-tense to a massive full scale invasion.

Behind me, you can see what looks like millions upon millions of Chinese soldiers... At the moment, it looks like camp is being established for now, but as the night falls, who can tell what will happen tommorow...

This is Xianago Wu reporting, Chinese State News.

General Ziang Dia stood on a ridge, overlooking the mass of troops that stretched for kilometers. Looking out, he sipped his tea, "Begin the invasion..."

Within minutes, the skies were filled with literally swarms of fighter / bombers, all crossing into Mongolian airspace. It was expected to be a quick victory, for the Mongolians had very little defenses, or at least not much were visible...

In China, General Ziang Dia sat in his gondalo while the airstrikes in Mongolia continued. Looking over the mass of troops, he smiled, this was a glorious day for China.... perhaps he could start dreaming of a great Chinese empire.... Japan, Russia, whoever he wanted.

Snapping back into reality, he was interrupted by a small boy, "News from the front General... Massive victories... We have only lost five planes in the raids. It seems as if we have alot of the Monglian defenses down.."

The General smiled, "Then begin the ground invasion..."

Within hours, two million Chinese soldiers crossed the border into Mongolia. Their orders were simple, 'Kill the enemy when you see them, Leave the Civillians'...

Sitting down in his briefing room listening to his intelligence secretary brief him on international operations and other intel information, President Sutton's personal aid bursts into the room, panting and out of breath.

"Sorry to inturrupt you sir, but Soviet China has just invaded Mongolia. The attack was a pure act of imperialism."

Alexander stares blankly at her, then turns to his Intelligence secretary before looking at the wall in silence for a moment. Suddenly, he turns back to his aid.

"Gather the press in the press room. Im going to make a statement. Mr. Secretary, if you would please excuse me."

The secretary nods and Alexander follows his aid out to the press room.

When he enters the room, he is nearly blinded by flashes of light from camera's and television camera's being pointed at him. He approaches the podium and begins to speak.

"Moments ago I recieved word that Soviet China has invaded Mongolia. Definitive proof has been provided and we can only regard this move as an act of blatant imperialism. Credonia protests to the highest extent the actions taken by Soviet China and demands that an end to the siege against Mongolia, a peaceful state occur. This unprovoked attack is in violation of this nations national sovreignty and can only serve the purpose of expanding the borders of Soviet China to quinch its thurst for more power, territory, and political influence. I DEMAND that you cease hostilities and return your forces to your lands or the International community will be forced to take actions to ensure the safety of the nation of Mongolia."

Alexander stares out into the cameras for a moment before exiting the room in a hurry.

A small boy ran into President Jinson Xu's office, holding a tape. He put it into the VCR and pressed play. On the screen, it showed the Credonians, with Chinese subtitles.

The room erupted into laughter, as Jinson got up and ejected the tape. He kissed it jokingly and smashed it on the floor.

In the meantime...

Chinese troops continued their invasion of Mongolia. So far, they had gone 10km into the border, recieving no resistance. The villages that the Chinese had captured, seemed to be unaware of the world around them... Technology in Mongolia seemed to be low.

The man stepped up to the podium. The National Assembly stared down at this short man as he began his speech.
I, Samuel Theodore, Conductor of the United Socialist States of Communist Likon, must announce to the nation that a fellow communist nation is involved in an act of war. Whilst normally i would support such movements, it is clear that the regime of this nation is an authoritarian one. Dictatorial and Imperialist, besmurching the Communist name in order to manipulate the people.
In no way am i going against Communism when i say this, that if Soviet China II does not remove its forces frrom Mongolia, a nation whose people has not made any moves towards communism, within 10 hours than Communist Likon will committ the Red Army to repelling the Imperialist, false Communist forces of Soviet China II

The man looked around at the National Assembly. Its 1,500 members looked around uncertainly. Then different section began to clap until the entire Assembly was applauding the Conductor of Communist Likon.

President Jinson Xu laughed when he heard the news, and delivered a confident statement;

"Us Chinese have a little thing called national pride. We will not conform to your demands, nor will we fear you.
We dare you to try your best, comerads..."

With that, powerfully he turned away, and the connection broke.

While Communist Likon and Credonia have had their share of differences between each other, we stand united agianst an imperialist nation whos goal is only to bring death and destruction to peaceful people for their own selfish gain. Let this be a testimate to the world that the left wing and the right wing, no matter how divided in ideals they share do share the common ideal that imperialism is not tolerated and will be dealt with using ample force to ensure that the nation being attacked is freed from the clutches of the imperialist forces. Let us fight together, side by side, for a common purpose and with the goal of liberating the nation of Mongolia from imperialist China.

(ooc: I get the impression that Soviet Chinese military intelligence is pretty awful if they're even slightly surprised by the level of technology encountered in their little neighbour state. Oh well, none of my concern, I suppose.)

The Central Directorature, DaKhiem, The Choson People's Republic of Dra-pol

Comrade Secretary Hotan was away for the afternoon, visiting a major factory opening in Kanggye, near the Chinese border. He relayed to DaKhiem his opinion of events in Mongolia.

The Central Directorature's diplomatic channel opened a few hours after the first strikes on Mongolia and expressed to the Soviet Chinese the CPRD's support for their spread of strong socialism across the continent. Of course no one could have suspected different from a nation still smouldering in the aftermath of the war that saw its socialist banner raised over Seoul.

From this moment forward, for at least the duration of the current military action, Communist Likon and all her military forces shall consider Credonia her full ally.
The Revolutionary Guard has been sent frrom the Communist Likon homeland to Mongolia, it is estimated it will take 15 hours to arrive, it includes
500,000 elite Revolutionary Guard parachuters armed with
Designated Marking Rifles (DMR's)
100,000 M60E3 7.62mm Machine Guns
as well as each member being armed with MEU (SOC) Pistols

The Red Army has also been readied it will be under the command of General Lang, and is estimated to arrive within Mongolia in 3 days. it includees
3 Million Infantrymen armed with a M-4 CARBINE Rifle, 7 Hand grenades, and a M-9 Pistol
250,000 anti tank personnel armed with BGM-71 TOW Missile projection units
250,000 Anti Aircraft personnel armed with FIM-9 Stinger Missile
as well as 100,000 specially trained engineers

800 UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter's

1,700 M109 Howitzers
900 T-85II heavy tanks
1,000 T-90 tanks

As you can see Soviet China II, Communist Likon is very serious about protecting the citizens of the world from Imperialism, and punishing those who abuse the Communist name. If you withdraw from Mongolia into your own borders than no force will be used against you, otherwise we will fight until you have been repelled, and destroyed.

I admit that I've not really noticed your nation much before, so I might regret and retract this later, but Dra-pol is situated over North Korea, and is pretty much an alternate DPRK on steroids... I was wondering whether to treat this as a distant alterna-China, or as my neighbour, either in the long term or just for the course of this RP. Em, if we do become neighbours it would depend upon this China having a favourable opinion of Dra-pol, as I've established that DaKhiem and Beijing have good relations since the minor border disputes were settled in China's favour. Understand that Dra-pol is traditionally isolationist, fanatically patriotic and commited to its Kurosite version of socialism, and is currently settling peace-terms with a multi-national coalition after invading the ROK. Radar controller Tim Howard lent round the partition to his neighbour, Private Raymond Frack, and for a moment watched his screen as the barage of numbers bombarded it. "Erm Ray, could you look at this for me?" asked Tim, still watching Ray's digital screen.
"Sure kid" replied Ray cheerily as he rolled his chair back and looked at Tim's screen. "Well, what do we have here? Multiple contacts at altitude level 4, incoming from the South. Holy smokes! Tim, get into the Generals room now, tell him that its started. We are under attack! Go!"
"Y, Yes Sir!" said Tim as he ran through the doorways leading straght to General Cordona's office. He knocked and charged in.

"What the! Who do you think-"
Out of breath, Tim squeezed out the words "Chinese-Air-Attack! Now!" before he had to gasp for breath.
The General didn't wait for him to speak again, he turned the key which was inserted in the Alert button cover and flicked it open. He smashed his thumb down on it and the whole building began flashing with a bright red glow, as air sirens erupted through the hall ways. he picked up the tannoy system and began to speak to his men.
"Soldiers, the Chinese have begun an airborn assault on our fine province-Battle Stations now! Incoming bombers plus fighter escort coming from the South, swarm formations evident. Lets Fight!"
Immediatley mots of the men in the radar controll center and throughout the rest fo the massive underground facility threw mdown their headphones and microphones and made a dash for the upper section. Some were told to go straight to MC1 ,2 and 3 while others would man simpler machine guns. The same process was going on across the whole of The Pablicostan province of Southern Mongolia, as Millions of people readied household weapons, and the millions of soldiers began preparing to counter the invasion. This attack would not be as simple as the Chinese had first thought.

Chinese - Main War Overview

As Chinese Troops flooded across the border into Mongolia, they had recieved a warning that there may be some resistance. Expecting attacks to come from the air, the Chinese sent anti-aircraft guns into the massive sea of Chinese troops that were crossing the border.

Initial reports were underestimated, so the President without thought committed another 3 Million troops to the invasion of Mongolia, bringing the total number of infantry to 6 Million. Some 1 Million had already crossed the border...

Sea of China / Sea of Japan etc

As the airstrikes continued, the Chinese Navy began to assemble in and around the seas which were in the area. If the forces were going to come in, they would HAVE to come in by air, or come through Russia or China. The President was sure as hell they we'rent going to come in through China....

The Frontline...

In the meantime, troops on the frontline began to notice a growing civillian defense. It seemed as if many were in fact arming themselves preparing to resist the Chinese invasion. To counter this, the Chinese government began to make runs of propeganda drops into major establishments. Usually they read, 'STAY INSIDE YOUR HOMES! RESISTANCE ONLY FORCES US TO KILL YOUR PEOPLE AS A MEASURE!'

The intent of the propeganda drop was to scare the population into staying in their homes, in fear for their families safety should they go outside...

In the meantime, the PLA had not yet encountered obvious resistance, now 50 miles approximatly into the border, and still moving strongly. There had been some resistance, but that was being overcome through sheer force.

Beijing

President Jinson Xu smiled as he realised that he was gaining support from several of his communist breathen. With a hand motion, one of his servants came up to him immediatly. Whispering into the man's ear, he whispered, "Send a message to the New Soviet Union. We want to have their troops invading from the north if possible. We will invade from the south. Contact Dra-pol and see if they wish to help our campaign through the dedication of forces..."

As the general war-effort continues, in China, trains are filled to the brim with soldiers being sent to the front. Over a period of one week, some two million troops are being sent towards the Chinese-Mongol Border near the Ulungur River.

In the meantime, whilst international pressure mounts on China to cease the invasion, President Jinson Xu has released the following statement:

"We see the right as ours to annex Mongolia, for it is for the people's benifits. You are all aware of the wasted land that lies in the north, and while our lands are filled to almost maximum capacity. We do not seek to harm the Mongolian people, but to expand the living space for the Chinese race. The Central Directorature, DaKhiem

Beijing's support for DaKhiem was absolutely critical to the Choson People's Republic. Without it there was little avenue for supply in the event of naval blockade, something suffered twice by the republic inside the last decade alone. Trade routes through China kept Kurosite Juche from collapsing upon itself, and Beijing's resurgent expansionism presented the possibility of anti-Drapoel forces landing in China.

This could not be allowed, it was absolutely a matter of life and death for the sixty year old Drapoel revolution. Comrade Secretary Hotan sent to Beijing of the CPRD's preparedness to offer support.

Of course, there was only so much that Dra-pol could do. Her navy consisted of two dozen Houjian Class missile attack boats, half a dozen Hound Class D/E submarines, and a few short range landing craft. The Sea of Japan Flotilla was buttoned up in reinforced hangars cut into the Korean shore, and the Yellow Sea Flotilla was already in China, hiding from superior anti-Drapoel naval forces in the area. That small force would remain and offer the services of its torpedoes, mines, and DSJ-1 and Qian Wei anti-shipping missiles to the defence of Chinese waters.

The People's Army Air Force had been decimated in the second Korean war. Worse than that, the most mobile elements of the army were crippled in Kilean nuclear strikes or else deployed south of Seoul. With them was most of Dra-pol's survivng mechanised artillery and her self-propelled air defence assets. There was no question of a major Drapoel deployment to Mongolia, to attempt such a thing would leave South Korea and Dra-pol exposed.

Several dozen Banat agents were quietly dispatched along with various items of value, hidden away amongst the significant weight of trade conducted across the Chinese-Drapoel border. They brought a few Drapoel frequency-hopping radios which would be donated to the Chinese in order to enable secure communication across the border, and several experts in the art of tunnel warfare.

It was these comrades that had over-seen the shock insertion of almost a million Drapoel commandos deep into the ROK during the first hour of war, and who had later enabled the People's Army to hide men and supplies and lay traps for superior enemy armour.

The Drapoel could dig three metre wide tunnels at thirty metres or more a day, a hundred metres below the earth. It was however too late for this to become reality in the Mongolian war, it would have required months of preparation to begin. The Drapoel would do as they had for the Viet Cong during the American war against the people of South East Asia- they would offer to school ordinary Chinese recruits in digging shallow tunnels to protect them and their supplies from view and from light fire. It was nothing war-winning, but could help on a local scale, and the show of support was what seemed to matter.

(ooc: I know a lot of people will say its easy to pick these things out from the air, with this equipment or that satellite, or whatever else. The truth is that it's really not. The Americans couldn't find an entire armoured regiment of the Medina Division in Iraq just because a few tanks were spread out under trees and such... intelligence to-day isn't as good as some people think. The Drapoel have further methods for concealing crawl-sized tunnels in the vastness of Asia, too... earth is litterally hauled out on the backs of men and spread far and wide, or dumped into rivers and such, usually at night, blah blah... I don't really know why I felt the need to add that, but there you go.)

In Dra-pol-proper there was in action a modest re-deployment of ground forces and air-defence systems, and new HARTS began to be hacked into the terrain north as well as south. If China was invaded DaKhiem was damn sure the war wouldn't spread across the border.

Tigin cast a suspicious eye across the border, where Mongol forces stood in tiny isles against millions of Chinese swarming into their country. It was just 800 years ago...he thought...when the Turko-Mongol hordes subdued those swarms. Well, he wouldn't let all of the Mongols be humiliated in this manner. Despite the fact that the TPQD was still involved in all-out war, the only power willing to trade blows with the Turks on the ground had fallen out, leaving only a few minor powers left to fight the Turks on the sea and the air.

A message was sent to the Chinese:

"Dear Comrades in China, the Turkic People's Qaghanate of Daylam supports your move to suppress capitalism in other states. However, you should be aware of the extreme ferocity of the Mongols. It was not too long ago that Chingis Khan crushed an equally outnumbering force of Han and drove into China itself. The Turks are interrelated to the Mongols, and we will occupy the country ourselves as a friend of the Mongols to help convert them to capitalism."

Despite this, the TPA was stretched thin. It could provide a few hundred thousand men to the effort, but that was all. So, the qaghan looked to the Marine Corps, who entire 160,000 men were added to the 250,000 men of the last scraps of TPA (Turkic People's Army) forces to enter Mongolia from the west through Daylami East Turkestan.

Initial Targets: Hovd and Altay.

I would like to point out that I do actyually own the South of Mongolia, so you have to recognise me as its owner. I would also like you to realise that you could not overpower all the border defences that I have in a matter of hours like you appear to have, it would mean slaughtering thousands of your men to get past as the weapons are sheilded in 7ft thick reinfrced concrete, and the operator sits 50ft underground-so they are gonna shoot! Anyway...
Oh, and why do you have a navy in place in a country which is landlocked?

Úud Front
Troops were flooding past the first city, although it could hardly be called a city. When the civil war wiped out 30% of it populous it became more of a ghost town, everybody feared everything. Outside the town, the Pablicostan National Forces battled hard, using automatic machine gun fire to tear through the Chinese ranks. The Chinese continued marching heartlessly, not caring for nor noticing their fallen comrades. Three minutes ago General Cocochét, positioned near Úud had ordered that an air strike take out some enemy troops, and now he heard the swift roar of jet engines.
Alpha 1-"Contact in 15 seconds Alpha, ready payload"
Alpha 2,3,4,5,6-"Affirmative Sir, Infantry payload ready and waiting"
Alpha 1-"Beta, form on our wing"
Beta 1-"On our way, Beta, form on Alpha wing"
Beta 2,3,4,5,6,7,8-"Yes'sir"
Alpha 1-"Contact in 5,4,3,2,1 Fire at will Alpha & Beta"
The tightly woven formation of fast bombers slowed to attack speed and began taking targets. The jets were armed with dumb bombs and began streaming them into the enemy. Surprisingly the very front line was not targeted, but behind them explosions covered the cries of the dying. Craters scattered the ground, making it harder for the Chinese to advance as quickly.
Alpha 1-"Good work guys, return to base for debreifing. Second phase attack, began when your ready"
Oscar 1-"Thank you Alpha 1, begining drop now"
As the Bombers sped from the scene, after only appearing for a little over 30 seconds, three wings of high altitude heavy bombers came into view over the Chinese. 13 planes, twice the size of a modern B52 Stratofortress and filled allmost completely with ordinance began releasing their lethal payload upon the formations of Chinese troops. The pilots observed as the helpless men from across the border watched eath approach, and then exploded into flames.
Western Front
As troops came over the border, the small gun emplacements did what they could, but the battle was fought for Pablicosta mainly by the 43rd Armoured Division, the largest in Mongolia at the moment. They took cover at the top of a cliffside and took rough aim at the masses of troops, firing rapidly into them. Massive voids could now be seen in the Chinese numbers, but nobody dared guess how many were dead.
Beijing
Several operatives of the PSS, The Blue Eagles and Siera 42 were operating in Beijing, but now their job meant something important. The Blue Eagles had been tasked with infiltrating the President, whilst Siera 42 were intercepting letters and e-mails sent from any military leader or personel, including the President. The main objective of the PSS was to observe for now, but later they would be tasked with the assasination of Jinson Xu.

Departing from Bonstocknian holdings in Taiwan was a large battlegroup, spearheaded by all 10 of Bonstock's Draken class battleships, which bear quite a resembalance to the old Yamato class. Also included are 8 Nimitz class aircraft carriers, 8 Ticonderoga class cruisers, 16 Arleigh-Burke class destroyers, and 24 Oliver Hazard Perry class frigates, and 10 Wasp class LHAs, and 8 replenishment ships.

They steam, from the east coast of Taiwan, in a north-west direction, straight for Shanghai.

Meanwhile, 60 B-1 bombers take off from Bonstock, and fly over Shanghai, dropping 24 JDAMs each on communications and command sites, bunkers, barracks, and other defenses (ooc: post defense so I can post casualties).

Rumors circulate in naval communications about a new operation, code-named "Valkyrie."

OOC: Actually I dont recognise RL nation claims, so I dont HAVE to recognise your claim to territory in Mongolia. However out of RP goodwill, I will RP this war against you.

In Mongolia...

As the Chinese troops began to come under heavy fire, massive losses began to take form. Through sheer density, some 2000 troops were lost. Yet, they continued to advance into Mongolia, virtually unopposed compared to the Chinese forces.

As they continued the advance, news came from home of an attack on their homeland. The soldiers, fighting for communism and their Sino brothers became enraged, and were now fighting at almost TWICE the pace.

Some two million troops were now inside the Mongolian borders. After it became apparent that there was some resistance behind the Sino lines, the soldiers occupying the area recieved some new orders, "Kill all those who break the law of occupation."

In effectivity, this meant that for every dead Chinese man in the war, they would kill FIVE times as many civillians in the occupied zone...

As the advancements in the south continued, the Red Armys to the west and east pushed deeper into Mongolia. Knowing that part of the war effort was to secure these areas, troops fought hard, knowing that their comrade breathen in the south needed them to.

In the meantime, over the frontline, the Chinese air force began making massive raids upon Mongolian defenses, focusing mostly on the air defenses.

In the seas...

As the Chinese Fleets recieved word that the homeland was under attack, the commanders of the great navy began to search for any enemy fleets. Submarines literally littered the waters, searching, searching...

In Bejing...

President Jinson Xu laughed as he heard the news of the Mongolian defenses, "They honestly believe they can kill our men? Give the order, they kill our men, we kill theirs..."

It was out of control. China, it seemed, was in the hands of a madman. A madman with a submachine gun, and a massive Sino army...

LOSSES COUNT:

Mongolia: 10 000
Shanghai: 103 (plus several Command Centers)

Message to the New-Soviet-Union

You will continue the strategy. I suggest you take the area soon, before the Mongolians take a hold of whats happening. In the area surrounding Hahn, I suggest you take that area, and begin to move south westward. My western army will move meet with your army somewhere near Uliastay. Dont show Soviet incompentancy...

The K-10 heavy transport planes flew over the occupied Chinese territory."1 MINUTE!" The CO called out... 1 minute later a green light went on. "GREEN LIGHT! STAND UP!" All the paratroopers lept too their feet. "YELLOW LIGHT! CHECK YOUR PARTNER!" All 600 men in the plane called out that their partners were secure. "RED LIGHT! GO! GO! GO!" The soldiers lept out of the K-10. Past its prop engine they fell. Their parachutes opened. They hit the ground and rolled. When Chinese soldiers approached them the CO yelled out, "5th Airborne division! Red Tide Army! We are on the side of Soviet China!"

Briefing room
Nozomi Station Air Force Base

"All right, men, this is called Operation Valkyrie, the amphibious invasion of China." The man pointed to an operational plan. "Your job is to take out all power plants, communications facilities, bunkers, barracks, naval bases, air bases, and anti-aircraft batteries in and around Shanghai. We have a total of 1,440 JDAMs, two for each target our sattelites have identified. We want a one raid destruction here. You will fly in at 200 feet AGL at Mach 2, refeul over the Sakishima islands, and continue on to Shanghai, and drop your bombs. If you are damaged, bail out over the East China Sea if possible. We have two submarines in the area as pilot recovery ships. Then fly back to Bonstock."

The men filed out of their briefing room, and headed over to their B-1 bombers. Ground crews assisted in getting them in, and they prepared to take off.

"All planes prepare for take off."

Engines started, and the Lancers roared to life. They began rolling in order to the runway. "Washboard one, cleared for takeoff."

"Roger." The plane on the runway started its engines full, and sped down the runway. Its front tail lifted off the ground, and the plane lunged into the air.

Withing a few minutes, all 60 planes were airborne and in formation, heading towards Shanghai.

Hours later, they came over the Bonstocknian Ryukyus. Six KC-10s were waiting. The bombers came close, in line. Each was refueled, and then they continued on.

They dropped down low, to 200 feet, and flew at supersonic speed. Then they came close. Flying so low, it was impossible for an SA-2 or comparable surface to air missile to get them. But that did not stop anti-aircraft artillery from firing.

The planes broke formation, each flying above its targets. The night aided them greatly, for anti-air crews could not get a visual on them. They dropped their bombs on their targets.

Five planes had been hit hard by anti-aircraft artillery, and had to divert to Maropian Coast, the Bonstocknian colony on Taiwan, to land. The rest returned to Bonstock.

Aware of the Bonstock fleets near Shanghi, submarines from all over the seas began to gather secretly in the area. Silently, they slipped underneath the waves... and began to search for targets. It was their job to prevent an assault from the seas.

In the meantime, over Shanghi, fighters, though outdated scrambled into the skies, to counter the attack coming in from the east...

Kiljaeden declares Soviet China's invasion extremely stupid, as Mongolia is one of China's closest allies and China has built a war factory in Mongolia, from which they are producing T-59 tanks solely for Chinese use.

However, Kiljaeden alo extends its protection to Chinese forces. We will defend our brothers right or wrong.

OOC: You do understand the Chinese don't fight using massed infantry and dense attacks anymore, right? It's all about surrounding, confusing, and then high-damage "shock" attacks. That's one of the primary military doctrines. Another main doctrine is siege, which takes roots from teh surrounding, only cuts off supply lines. Artillery plays a large role- remember, China has the best 203mm self-propelled howitzers in the world.

In response to Soviet China's illegal invasion of the sovereign state of Mongolia, the Democratic Republic of Chimaeron issues a full and total condemnation, berating with harsh rhetoric the actions of the warlike Chinese. Chimaeron Intelligence views the press-released photographs of Chinese J-6 and Q-5 aircraft as further proof of the desperate actions of what they call a "collapsing Chinese economy."

One spokesman for the Chimaeron Intelligence Service was quoted as saying, "If the Chinese are attempting to invade the entirety of Mongolia with nothing more than those out-dated, second generation aircraft, then it highlights the economic dire straits the Soviets are truly in."

The Chimaeron Humanitarian Aid Service was also quoted as stating that "more than fifty billion US$ of humanitarian aid" would be sent to Mongolia. Meanwhile, the Chimaeron government has not made a comment on whether it intends to send any combat assets or to involve itself more directly in UN-sanctioned actions against Soviet China.

"General Lung, how many troops can you fly into Hong Kong in one day?"

"Two full corps, I believe. Will taht be sufficient?"

"Probably. Admiral von Steuben, is our fleet ready?"

"Yes, Field Marshal Adolphus."

"Hmm... all right, let's go. At the very least, Operation Valkyrie will teach those Soviet Chinese a lesson."

"Aye, sir."

The South China Sea

The ultra-powerful main fleet was poised for the attack. Seventy two aircraft carriers, scores of destroyers, and 72 advanced LHAs were waiting like a coiled snake.

Then the go order came.

"All planes launch! All planes launch!" blared on the loudspeakers. The pilots, already briefed, jumped into their F/A-18 Hornets and EA-6 Prowlers, and were catapulted into the air. 2,592 F/A-18s, the pride of the Bonstocknian fleet, took formation, and sped to their targets. With 432 EA-6 Prowlers dealing with air defense over Hong Kong and Guangdong provence, the Hornets struck air bases, naval bases, troop barracks, supply depots, and targets of opperatunity. Nothing that the enemy could regard as militarily valuable was left unscathed.

With all of Hong Kong ablaze, 1,080 Advanced Amphibious Assault vehicles approached the shores of Hong Kong Island, Lantau Island, and the New Territories. 864 CH-46s and 288 CH-53 helicopters flew troops in to take over all of Hong Kong.

Within a few hours, over 150,000 troops were ashore, and Hong Kong was declared secure. But still, heavy street fighting had claimed 2,133 Bonstocknian lives. As the Marines regrouped, Bonstocknian C-17 planes flew in to transport Army troops and Air Force support troops from Maropian Coast and Bonstock proper. F-15 fighters, newly based at Chep Lak Kok airport, patrolled the skies for enemy air forces, while A-10s and ground troops stood ready to repell enemy advances. It had been a bloody day, though the objective was secure.

A proposition was given to the Soviet Chinese: Withdraw from Mongolia and we'll withdraw from Hong Kong. Refusal will lead to a termination of the Soviet Chinese state.

Special Forces troops penetrate into Guangdong to further destroy transit systems. Working at night, lightly armed, they set mines all over roads, derail trains, and blow up bridges.

54 B-2s each fly over Shanghai, Beijing, Wuhan, and Tianjin, dropping 5,000lb. JDAM bombs on command and control stations, railroad stations, communications facilities, powerplants, and war factories.

In the meantime, in another part of the sea, a hidden sub had aquired a carrier. Locking onto the submarine, it flooded its tubes. Getting within closer range, it fired all four tubes.

As the submarine commanders watched the radar, they listened as one of the officers reported on the torpedo,

ic: "This is the destroyer DD-45 to command, we've acquired a submarine bearing 020 at 2 range. Deploying depth charges."

Of course, a temporary communication blockage prevented the carrier Freedland from recieving communications. The torpedoes rushed silently. Suddenly, the carrier was rocked by a violent explosion. The torpedoes all hit at once, headlong into the nuclear reactors. The explosion was catastrophic. The carrier was cut in two, and went down within a minute with all hands. Five thousand Bonstocknians lost their lives.

"Goddammit we've got a red situation! Carrier down! Carrier down!"

"Send in any rescue ships we can!"

"I don't think there are any survivors."

"Engage that sub!"

"Roger!"

All of the Viking aircraft of the fleet went over to attack the sub. Hundreds of depth charges rocked the waves.

Meanwhile, with C-17 aircraft flying in Army troops into Chep Lap Kok and ships unloading tanks, APCs, and artillery, Bonstock's foothold on Hong Kong was strengthend. The new territories had all fallen, and a mass of armor was gathering there, forming a dagger at Guangzhou.
