"supergun"reincarnated!!!

I have recently completed the modernization of the WWII German "supergun".

During WWII the germans would launch shells 64 miles (at least I think 64 miles) into parris.

I have modernized it by putting in better radar, modern gun director, and compound armour(the same as in an Abram tank). I put it into mass producion and can now sell it to the general public. I suggest that you position one every 20 or so miles along your coast to almost entirely prevent any invasion. I also suggest to station a few around your capitol to help prevent a sucessful invasion, in the event that the enemy is able to get past your shores.

However, the turret is reletivly defensless, and so I strongly suggest to have air defence missiles nearby.

The turret costs 2 million a piece, and spare ammo is 100 a piece.

I hate to break it to you, but that is only an old german railway gun. Ant 250 cm... caugh caugh...Godmod caugh! I am selling a slightly modified REAL gun, and your gun is a little heavy for rail travel. Keep it touch.

The "Super Gun" parts are moved in on several trains, the crew of 6,000 takes a good while to assemble (many hours at the least). The gun is indeed a pain and puts great strain on the railroad tracks.

Meanwhile, while you're arsing about with that, any other army in the area has simply obliterated the ruddy thing with airstrikes or with something like a FROG-7 or an SS-21. Nice idea though.

OOC: i hope you actually did research on the REAL gun to base your information on your "Super Gun"...

Saddam was building a super-gun that would get him range on Israel... But British Custom agents seized the last 3 shipments of crucial parts for the gun as they were being loaded unto a ship at a British port.

I heard about that on the news. A missile launching barrel is what I got out of it.

Anyway, do any of you want to buy the gun (and about it being defencless, look at the original post, I said to defend it with missiles)

Doesn't matter how well you defend it, comrade, it's a damned big static target, and that means it's basically useless. If it stays still, it dies, that's war for you.

using half of the weight, it is 5 times stronger than the armor that survived all of WWII

Ye-es, did they have SRBMs, PGMs or stuff like the TLAM back then?

It still presents a huge target, thus ending its use. Modern warfare stresses mobility, mobility, mobility. It is essentialy for use as an Atlantic Wall gun, which stopped Allied troops for only a few hours at most, if even that.

It is not meant to be a main form of defence, just a cheap way to pick off (with considerable acuracy) enemy landing ships.

How accurate do you think a thing like that is going to be, assuming it even survives to be used?

First, dont piss me off, the gun is somewhat defencless, but really, no more so than any major city. The diffrence being that if it is destroyed, it will only inflict less that about 20 casulties (as opposed to several thousand). Secondly, it is armored and has defence missiles.

And about the acuracy, you would be surprised what modern tech. can do!

So would you. It's a frigging great stationary target, emitting a huge IR signature when it's used and with a giant radar signature too. So it's got SAMs around it. Kill the radars with AS-12s and blow up the launchers with AS-18s, then finish the gun with something big like an AS-16.
