Jordaxia
04-06-2004, 03:26
I'm sure that's fine.
All the nations have different attributes too, naturally. My chosen nation, the Tol'nedrans, use legionarries, and have lots of territory. I am also the richest nation, in the book, but since that has been given to another nation, you would assume that my economy would still be rather robust. (I haven't read the books for a little while, so I may be rusty, but I'm sure the Tol'nedrans have stacks of cash.)

OOC:
BTW why are there no
a - Marags
b- Malloreans
c- Rivans
d- Dals
Ok -
Queen Salmistra , the eternal, slithered over to her throne and rested there, briefly. Sadi's grandson, Myaki was turning out to be a very capable administrator indeed, for today, he had caught her 4 mice, which she savored with the greatest relish. Myaki came in
Salmistra- " what is it Myaki? have you found another mouse?"
Myaki- "no, Eternal Sal-" "
"Salmistra- "then get out of my sight, i have no need of you at the moment"
Myaki- "but Eternal Salmistra!!"
Salmistra - "what is it!?"
Myaki " the nations are shaping up to have another big war, one that might even rival the great Wars, 100 years ago.
Salmistra - and?
Myaki - this is important , my queen, we could be burnt to the ground, as the Alorns did in ages past, we must take a side, and make sure we pick the right one.
Salmistra- Do as you see fit, i dont really care.
Myaki - Yes, my queen
Myaki was troubled, his nation had the smallest military of all those in the world, and wasn't paticularly valued by any other nation that highly, although mecidinal herbs and suchlike has made Nyissa an econoical power, the military was 1/7 of the size of the next smallest military. Although, he reflected Nyissa protects herself, a war could kill the culture, economy and science that had come to Nyissa during this period of relative peace. He decided to dispatch an embassy to the Murgos, the Drasnians, the Chereks and the Tolnedrans to see what would happen, he decided to offer Nyissa as ground in which any army could pass through, because he knew that no Alorn,Angarak or Tolnedran in his right mind would willing pass through Nyissa as part of an army. He also sent an embassy to Mallorea, asking for aid if the damnable Murgos came.He knew that murgodom was as big as all the other non-angarak kingdoms put together, and if Cthol Murgos decided to invade, there was going to be precious little left for the Nyissans.
Lessr Tsurani
04-06-2004, 11:49
OOC Yes, I know. I did not put them there. I ment that. Reasons.
Rivia- Orb of Aldur, This gives them to much power.
Marags- As far as we are consended they are an dead race.
Malloreans- Are Split between the Me, Nardarcks and Thulls.
Dals- Don't know what they have.
And Falastur, you may have Arendia.
Ok, We Are doing it Here. We will just play. If you have some diplomacy then say it is. Ect. I can not be bothered to make a different forum.

Very well, I will put the Rivians in, And you may have them. Uncle Eddie please don't take it the wrong way but You really are Rivia's only way to get across the sea of winds. They don't have that big an Navy.
the Rivans are excellent melee/close infantry fighters, they're really savage, and even if they were invaded, there's only one safe harbour and the fortress of Riva blocks it's way into the country
Lessr Tsurani
04-06-2004, 15:08
OOC Ok, You may Start. I will handle the Angaraks until someone akss for them. So Start, And please name your kings Ect. With Original names, not ones from the books. O BTW, At the moment the things are like this. All nations on the western continent have got their borders they have on there. The East on the other hand is not united, and if anyone can manage to get to the easten sea then there is land for the taking. Mallorea is the only nation on that side that is not in Civil war.

The King of Cthol Murgos Lord Yarlshark listened to the Nyissan ebassy. He was in a very sour mood and had been ever since word had reached him that some Daiasian Princes had gone to Mallorea for help against the bigger factions trying to get a hold in The area. Why Would they go to them, He was far better choice. HE then reminded himself that he was supposed to be listening to the ebassy. He listened again. He liked the treaty the Nyissans proposed, and he was already thinking of signing. He smiled, free passage throgh Nyissa, then he could strick the Empire from above and below, and while The Empire did not have the power to stop both, he could then hit them from both sides. He smiled to himself.
Yarlshak: "Very well, I will sign, but Nyissa must be willing to have people fight ON her soil, not her people or her resorses, but people will fight on her, si that Ok with you?" He asked, knowing if it was not he might have to remind them who had power.

Reasons all of these nations can exist -
Riva - The orb of aldur will not react to evil commands. You must've noticed, in the belgariad and mallorean alike, Belgarion never used the orb to kill another humans being. With the possible exception of Zandramas, but as Zandramas counted as evil Quid Quo?
Marags- in the end of the mallorean, the Marag woman and relg were having 3 babies every 9 months. Add this 2 other people coming back to inhabit maragor (former slaves etc) and you could easily get a small nation.
Dals- they would be more a spy race (as they have magic but don't often hlep by using it) but very unmilitary OOC: are we going to have both provinces of Arendia?also, i named my guy (Myaki) but i couldn't really re-name Salmisstra, because as you remember, Polgara made her immortal by turning her into a snake.
Myaki had sweat running donw his forehead in rivulets, he knew if he sided with Cthol Murgos, the Alorns would most likely come raving down again, and burn the whole country to the ground "Damned Savages!" he cursed aloud.
He decided to stay with his previous decision, he would provide guides to any army willing to pay them, let anyone go through Nyissa but if anyone tried to attack us, we could poison all the food/water and run away (any of you read the Marag invasion in Belgarath the Sorcerer?) Yes....
2 days later - Myaki decided to send a proposal to Cthol Murgos (OOC:none of you other nations actually know about this, unless you try and do some, like use a drasnian spy to spy on it) he would open his borders to Cthol Murgos if Yarlshak would help him fortify his borders, because, he realises, Cthol Murgos provides 65% of all Nyissan Trade, and Cthol Murgos has a larger army then any other nation.
If Yarlshak doesnt agree, he will send the same proposal to the western nations.
Nyissa can't afford to be neutral right now. Myaki sent the king of Cthol Murgos 5 pretty slave-girls and 50 strong, tongue-less male slaves as a present.
He alos figured that since the Nadraks and Thulls tend to face of agains the Murgos, if the Murgo's one this one, he coud be in quite a good situation.
He also offered the Murgo's 12 prime assassin's if he signs this treaty
Hyperspatial Travel
04-06-2004, 23:28
Of course you can fight on my soil, that actually makes it more advantageous for us (if Murgo is fighting somewhere else, most nations could probably raze Nyissa)
OOC: Murgos, have you used your bottemless red gold mines to corrupt other countries officials? that could be useful because it makes them greedy and you can easily get useful information from them.
OOC: will there be the howling savages from the north (the demon-worshippers)?

Could i set a setting for the civil wars in the east??
30 years ago, Dalasia was repeatedly attacked and many dals were killed, leaving the remaining few living on top of their mountain. Anyone who seeks these Dals, may ask a question of them, but noone has made it up the mountain as yet.
The seven kingdoms of Karanda revolted against ancient mallorea, leaving so many casualties, Boundless mallorea was boundless no more, for mallorea controlled next to nothing in comparison of what it had before. The Melcene empire was driven back to its tiny island, as they developed new ways, new technologies and tried to sell these for food. Melcena eventually became a deserted island, with many secrets and suchlike for those who were willing to go to such lengths to get there.
The Karandese fell back into barbarism, fighting each other constantly and trying to become king. These savages worshipped almost all people from the western continent as gods, with the exception of the Nyissans. The grolims in cthol murgos, mallorea, nadrak and thull wree systematically killed, as the god eriond slept, believing all was well with the world. The disicples of Aldur had gone away to some long-distant island to study the mysteries of the world, for they too belived all was well. In the midst of all this, the Western Continent stood at the verge of war... and may well plunge back into barbariasm.

OOC Dals are in a civil war, I will add Marags, and Rivia is there, Dals are nothing more then smaller factions, so they are not a united nation, and the deamon worshipers are not ones to try and attack people. And good setting for the civil war, looks good. But no, We have not used our red gold, YET.
Lessr Tsurani
05-06-2004, 04:22
OOC The numbers would besomewhere in the quarter to half a million men. Cthol Murgos has 4 million in the books, but after a few years of war they are now somewhere around 3 million. However it takes time for my armies to get up to the north from the south, so for a large amount of a war I have normal numbers.

Yarlshak looked at the treaty, then at the ebassy.
"So what you are saying is that we can move through Nyissa and all we have to do is help build some walls and cities for you?" He asked in a quite voice.
"Well yes, about that." The ebassy replied in a small voice, quite a few f the Ebassys of other nations had died when the they tried to get the king into doing something stupid. Yarlshak thought about i, the Alorns, Toldreans and Arends seemed to think he was just like the King Taur Urgas, rash, and not like the old king of the Malloreans, and ansestor on his mothers line 'Zakath. He looked at the treaty one last time before signing it. He then looked at the Ebassy, who was figeting under his gaze, for a long time, then said.
"You have served you Queen well, As a reward the Nyissans will recive 3 wagon loads of Angarak Gold, you yourself will be given 30 coins." He then looked at the Ebassy. "You may leave."
The embassy hurried out of the room.
He then stood up. "Todays court is over, we will meet again tomorrow." He then left the room, his guard following.

Yarlshak entered the room and looked around. His study had hundred of maps, books and writing equitment and other things. He went over to his desk and sat down, taking a map and looking at it. The map showed Cthol Murgos and The east, Mallorea especially. The Malloreans where fools. They had somehow managed to take back almost all of their lands, and where now almost back to normal. He looked at the maps. Mallorea was not yet strong enough to hold back an attack from his army. He would move against them soon, and then he would take back his brith right.

OOC: are we going to have both provinces of Arendia?
OOC: Hmmm.....I like the sound of that. Why? What's the other Province?
And finally, last question (hopefully) before I stop being irritating and spamming this thread with questions, but what is the status with Ulgoland? It wasn't on the list of playable nations. Is it uninhabited, or count as part of another country or something?
To balance all of these questions out, I'm writing a quite long IC introductory, to start Arendia off.....should be posted soon.

OOC Please post with the game. Ulgo land is all one city that is underround. The people are religous fanatics and don't talk much with outsides, they have no army so to speak, but No one will attack it, the entreces are not availble to anyone unless they are Ulgos, So leave them.
The Marags are protected by the gods, so don't bother with them, and Arendia is both Provences, one has good archers and the othr good knights.

OOC: If I make some mistake which needs correcting, especially if I am accidentally affecting the RP with my errors, please tell me and I'll correct them.
IC: It seemed all of Vo Mimbre has bustling and busy, even late into the evening. Soldiers bustled around, keeping the citizens in line, the citizens ran from building to building , thieves went about their business in the pockets of the city. The odd Noble or two trotted past astride their horses, a few guards flanking them, protecting them from the villainous hive of the city. Merchants, cloaks of silk and gold trim betraying their status to the criminal element, went hurriedly from warehouse to dock, flanked by employed hands, weapons on show protecting their merchants. Beggars of all ages lay in nooks and crannies, trying to gain and piece of copper they could.
Around the Palace, just as in the rest of Vo Astur, all manners of men, women and children shuffled round the city, but inside it there was much more peace, the quiet only broken by King Valdan's discussions with a handful of his leading Nobles.
"And that is how we are taking measures to reduce crime in the cities, your Highness."
"Most ingenious, you are to be congratulated, Lord Drake. Lord Ashar, how goes the fortification of our borders?"
"It is progressing much as we had hoped, your Highness. Border forts on the major routeways into Arendia are for the most part constructed, and are already garrisoned. We can now ascertain the nature of everyone coming into Arendia or leaving it, as you wish, if they journey by any of the major roads."
"Excellent. And the castles further into Arendia?"
"They are taking rather longer, my Lord, but some are completed, and most are working on their inner walls. The outer walls will not follow in too long a time. They are yet to be garrisoned though, my Lord."
"Make it so as soon as they are fit to shelter a human being. I wouldn't like to think our army was slacking....Lord Farleigh, what of the Royal Fleet?"
"The Royal Fleet is berthed as ordered, your Highness. If you give the word, it would be ready to take on board your soldiers as soon as they arrived."
"Excellent. I don't want a second lost if that fleet is ever needed. It seems everything is according to my plans. Lord Elchild, have the Royal Messengers depart immediately. You are to compose a letter asking the Kings of Tolnedra and Sendaria if they would join us in alliance. Now, gentlemen, you may depart my company."
Every man made a low bow to their King, turned and left, with the exception of Lord Harros, who asked thoughtfully,
"Your Highness, and what of the lands on the Eastern Continent? Not much is known of them, but I have reports that they are lands for the taking. Squabbles between Lords, no real Kings - of any power or standing over the Lords, at least. They would not be able to stand up to invasion."
"Yes, you are right to ask, Lord Harros. This question has played on my mind for a fair few weeks now. I feel the time to move is approaching. But it is not quite here yet. For now, I am contented to sit and hold our position. But rest assured, Harros, when I decide to move against the Easterners, it will be fast and effective and you will be the first to know."
"Yes, your Highness. That is good news to hear."
"Now, gentlemen, you may leave my presence."

OOc Sorry, the capital is Vo Mimbre. You Could have changed it, but it is a major part of the history.
IC Yarlshak was furious. How DARE those Malloreans insult him. 5 hours after the Treaty had been signed he had recived a message from the Nardarks had reached him with infomation that the Malloreans where trying to unite the Angaraks against the East. Yarlshak knew that the message was never even sopposed to be given to him. He smiled. It was time for the Angaraks to come under one rule. The Malloreans where his, all he had to do was prove to them his line. But one thing annoied him. Why Wasn't his Ebassy telling him this, a message like that did not get away from one in the palace. He then smiled as he remembered he was comeing back to the city soon. If he did not say anything, then he would be searched, and he would be triled as a trator. Yarlshak smiled, he loved this at least. He would win. No matter what the cost.

OOC This post is from Mallorea
IC The King of the Malloreans looked at his plan. It was, if he did say so himself, fool proof. The only thing that worried him, And indeed all of Mallorea Was what would happen if Cthol Murgos found out. The Empire had just recoved anf needed to take some more land while there was still time. He knew he had payed the Ebassy suffitiat amount to keep his mouth shut, so all he really needed to worry about was the Dransians letting something about it leek to them. He had trust that the Thulls where to stupid to think of betraying him and the Nadrakcs would not risk getting attacked. Or would they? He begain to worry that he had made a mistake getting ignoreing Cthol Murgos. If the Murgos came over then they would be crushed, or maby if they promised all the land they conquered they might get awat with it. He began to ponder on how to fix the problem if it broke out.

He sent assassins against the Emperor of Tolnedra, the King of Drasnia and sent the murgo king 150 prime slaves as a return gift. He used the red gold to start buying up Tolnedran officials. He sent a private message to the Murgos -

Yarlshak Read the letter.
"Given 125 wagons of red gold, proime morgo troops." He muttered to himself. He then pulled out a piece of paper and began to write.
Dear Mythrako,
I Yarlshak the King of the Murgos, have no reason to attack Alornia, you can have more red gold, WHEN you give me reason. As for some Murgo troops at the moment I can not spare any, and if I brought any troops up from the south Alornia will begin to get ready for war before You have gained any of Tolnedria before they attack ME! You will not be attacked until it is to late But we are not as powerful as we once where, an attack fromt eh united powers of Alornia would destroy us. We thank you for the slaves, and If you give us reason we will send you More gold. That is ALL!
From the King of the Murgos Yarlshak
He then thought about it. He needed to have allies in Alonia. He sighed and sent a message to his man In Cherek.
Dear Aganashk,
I have a new mission for you, Try to get the king of Cherek to lend us some of his ships. We are getting ready for the attack on Mallorea and I need to be able to send as many men as possible over on the first run. Tell him we will pay him in YEllow gold, I don't think many kings trust the red things.

Note:never put your trust in one head eunuch , this is unwise - yet another head eunuch was put on high. This eunuch decided to make nyissa into a veritable world power - his name was Tekki. He decided to start fortifying Nyissa, knowing that walls and forts are no match for succubi-trees and angry snakes. He figred that Nyissa could return to the jungle, and instead of stocking up on drugs and going HIGH like most Nyissians normally wouls, he decided to use birth-boosting drugs and train his people. This, within 20 years, would make Nyissa a world military, economical and politicial power. He also got growth-boosting drugs to make sure the process would be speeded up. No one, bar no one, was going to mock the people of the snake anymore.

Yarlshak looked at the letter and frowned. Why where the Nyissans killing each other? He shrugged, why did it matter, as long as they did not interfere with his plans. He looked at the letter he had just recived from the Nadrack King, It had a copy of the Letter the Malloreans had sent. He looked it over and spat. It read as follows.
Dear King Of the Nadracks,
We are orginising a crusade aganist the Eastern worlds. We have lost much, and need help destroing our enemies. This letter will also be sent to the Thulls, but we will keep it secret from Cthol Murgos. I ask that you do not tell them about this letter, For they will most likly take offence, So please gather your men and help us.
From the King of Mallorea, Zarakth
He looked at the letter, and began to draft a letter to write to the Mallorean King.
OOC Xfgj, I don't care. We are just playing a game, And it does not have to be perfect. If it did, do you think I would allow someone who had not read the book Join?

"Tell me, Lord Harros. What of the Eastern continent? Have your....."contacts".....revealed any information as to their nature and politics?"
"My Lord, the lands are strewn with factions. Some groups seek to gain a power advantage over the others through alliances, but others inevitably ally against them. There is a brief skirmish, the two sides back down with minimal losses, and noone is stronger. There is a power void over the factions that is there for the taking, and many factions seek powerful allies to help them establish themselves in that void. Suppose, your Highness, that you made a handful of.....well-chosen alliances....with the more ambitious factions. Perhaps, with the weaker ones. We spark them into an arrogant attack, which would cause them to deplete themselves, on the promise that our troops are on the way, and are going to aid them, if they start their campaign in advance. Suppose, our troops are on the way, but they arrive just in time to save the campaign. The factions have thrown themselves against a stronger opponent which they believed they could defeat through our support, and instead we arrive "too late" - they haven't pulled out of their war as they are vainly hoping for us, and because it would put them on the defensive, we arrive when their armies are in tatters, and are just about to lose. Our troops save the day, and the campaign, and we have established ourselves with a beachhead on their land. Now don't get me wrong, our "allies" may have sent their army against much stronger opponents, but they will have weakened them. Our "allies" cannot push their demands, as their armies are nothing compared to their former size - even united, they could not stand against us, and we can threaten them with force if they don't stick to our plans. Eventually, once our armies are settled in their land and the land taken in the campaign, we just depose their leaders. It would be much harder than trying to boss around the stronger factions, especially if we ally with a group of them instead of one. And there you have it - we have land, and we have much less of a fight in order to establish ourselves. We just work inward from there."
"Hmmm....a most intriguing and entertaining plan. Worth strong consideration. Is there any chance, on the other hand, that we could ally with another Western Continental Power? One of our neighbours, say?"
"It is possible my Lord. It would involve more diplomacy, and would result in us earning less land, I suspect, but it would be safer."
"Hmmm.....then we shall wait for a time, while I ponder over what to do. Prepare the troops, I want an invasion party of 25,000 ready to depart immediately, and I want another 25,000 ready to depart on the return of the fleet."
"Yes, your Highness."

i hate to say this, but i think you forgot that eriond made the world all happy and united and sickeningly sweet
and you forgot that belgarath and especially belgarion et al would never let another war occur anyway
Its a good point.
But why waste a good oportunity to RP?
I am presuming that Belgarath, Garion et all have passed away.
IC:
Barak sat under the mainsail of his ship, cradeling the book. It had become such a large part of his life it was known to him simply as the book. He turned over the thick red covers once again and stared at the name in gold on the front. His name. Barak.
More correctly, it was the name of his great grandfather. Thge most famours man in his family, who had not just lived through the Great Wars but had been an integral part of them. He had served alongside Belgarion himself.
Heavy footsteps jolted Barak back into reality, and he slid the book away under his tunic. He preferred people not to know that he could read. He stood to attention and faced his captain.
"What you doing out here lad?" the captain asked, foxong him with a stare that could peel a man to the bone. barak locked the stare and replied.
"Fresh air sir. The sea breeze makes me feel at home."
The captain contemplated him for a second, then broke into twhat could loosely be described as a grin.
"A lad after my own heart. Good. Dinners being served below deck lad. Don't want you to starve now do I, and a man can't live on sea breeze alone."
Before he could reply the captain turned and walked away, heading for the comfort of his cabin. Barak nodded and turned towards the hull with the intent of filling the whole in his stomach.
"One other thing boy. Get some smart clothes on. We're going to the King, and he wants to see you personally."
Barak swallowed hard and walked off. Was that an honour, or something for concern?

Yarlshak looked across the city, and then to the desert Beond. He was ashamed to think that His peoples old god had made that Desert, and that once there was a great inland sea there. Then he shook himself, it did not matter. He the looked at the letter. He smiled. The Vale, that little piece of land, in that small amount of terratory there was more power then in the rest of the world. But it was also the best protected place in the world. He then looked across the sea. He looked at a servent and said.
"Please get me My Officers." He said quickly. The servent, listening for an order, quickly left the room. When he returned, he had three men following him.
"Gentelmen, What took you? I think I have something." He said and pointed at a place on the map. If we land here, we should be able to take the place of the city of the Night used to stand. With that, the Malloreans Moral will fall, just like the walls. What do you think?" He asked, in a voice that did not hint the usual "Just Disagree" Tone.
Very Good my Lord, but don't you think that we might be better if we took these places here?" He said pointing farther North. "If we did, we would control the land Bridge. We could have an army ready, allowing us to cross without Delay, we would have an army over in a few hours."
"And I soppose the Deamon worshipers up there would not mind an army of our size travaling inot their lands? They are very powerful, If unpridictable." Yarlshak Sighed, this would go late into the night.

OOC: None of my business I know, but I presume you aren't going to try to take the Vale. I know we are not playing completely by the book, but I would feel uncomfortable if this idea was followed. It would be very difficult to continue this without bringing in the Gods if you take the Vale. Plus it would kind of destroy the 'Eddings' atmosphere.

OOc No, Everthing of power is in there. BelGarade, Polgara, Belgarion, Ce'Needra, The Orb, The Gods, all of them live there. They kind of retired and let the world do anything, As long as they left the Vale Alone.
OOC: sorry about the delay
IC: Geran, King of Riva, keeper of the Orb of Aldur, and overlord of the west, had taken ill some time ago, the duties of running the kingdom had fallen to the eldest son of the last Rivan Warder, he was called Brand, and had seen to it that all in the kingdom went well for its inhabitants, but as it seemed all was not well outside the walls and immovable rock of the Citadel, angarak forces were massing in northern Mallorea, the Arends preparing for war (not that unusual actually) indeed Riva's former spledour and power as the unassailable city had been shaken, now Brand, proud of his family and the traditions of RIva had decided to reopen contacts with the west, though many of the friends of the past had long since passed into legend, there were still some few to be trusted, the alorn alliance had not failed, and that was for Brand, a very encouraging thought, with all the splendour of the Citadel, Brand took up his staff and ordered the massive gates of Riva opened to the world...

King Rednal, current King of Cherek and loved by his peopl, turned the letter iver in his fingers again, contemplating the possible consequences of it.
The letter was from an Aganashk, a representatvie for the Murgos. Although simply a letter requesting an audience, it suggested that the topic of conversation be the lending of ships, a thought that now lay heavily on the mind of Rednal.
His mind was a muddle of racism, national pride, the want to be looking to the future, but above all a simple question. Why?
He snorted with a mock laugh and threw the letter onto the desk. He marched over to the window, poured himself a brandy, and looked out over his country.
The why was easy; to unite the Murgos and the Malloreans. But Rednal was unsure whether he wanted it. Part of their safety against the hordes of Murgos was the fact that the Malloreans were on their backs. How safe would the world be if the Murgos could do what they wanted? And no one would thank him for putting the Murgos in a position to conquer the world.
He sighed, downed the brandy, and threw the glass into the fireplace, where it smashed comfortingly into hundreds of pieces.
He stroked his beard and began writing a letter to this Aganashk.
Dear Sir,...
He tore the letter up and threw it into the fire. He never was any good at the paperwork. He stormed out of the room and sent for his courier.
Breathless and red in the face, a young man who was trying very hard to grow a beard sprang into being.
"Yes your majesty?" he gasped. The King contemplated with bold blue eyes, trying hard to shine through a mass of red hair.
"When you have got your breath back, I want you to go down to the Murgo embassy and tell one Aganashk that I will gladly give him some of my time to discuss his suggestion. Tell him that it will be some time within the next few days, so he is to stay nearby."
"Very good your majesty". The courier sped off.
The King smiled. The end part of the message would keep the Murgo tied down, allowing the King to arrange his back up plan.
He hummed to himself and closed the study door behind him.

Arashak looked at the cortier and smiled. HE then said. "Very well, come in and tell me what the king has to say." He then led the cortier to the common room of his house. The man looked nervous in his presence, and Arashak smiled. Why did the People still hold gruges against them. He then listened to what the man had to say, and told him to leave. He then started to anger. What was he thinking? He then sighed. He tried to write what he needed to the king, but could not work out what to say.

Barak stood before the throne of his King, looking up at the man he owed allegiance to. He was an intimidating figure. Wearing full battle leathers, his beard and hair tied back into plats, and with armed guards either side of him, he was not a man to be messed with.
As the courier led him closer, Barak stopped at the step and knelt before his King, his head bowed.
"Rise Barak. It is unworthy that a man of your lineage should grovel before his King. Arise, and address me as a man."
Puzzled, Barak rose. As he did so, the King stood up on his throne and extended his arm. Two heavy rings stood out; one his wedding ring, and the other the ring of coronation. His wrist was bound tightly in a leather strap.
Barak moved towards the throne, extended his own arm, and the King and he grasped each other by the wrist in a warrior's handshake. Barak began to tremble under the power of the King's stare. They parted the shake, and Barak returned to the step below the throne. The King sat back down.
"Let the record show that I greeted Barak as I would a gloryfied warrior. Let none of us forget who he is." A scribe nodded. "I have other work to do today, so I am afriad I must be brief with your task. I wish you to contact the leaders of the Alorn Kingdoms. Tell them we are to meet at Riva in a month today [OOC: Sometime next week]. Simply tell them that I have news that is to the interest of the alliance. May God speed your ship, and travel safely." The King nodded to Barak.
Barak bowed low again, turned, and marched out of the room. A month! Not long, but achievable. He set off to pack.
-------------------------------------------------------
The King watched him leave. It was the right choice, he knew. He was only young, but people would respect the blood flowing through him. It had been too long since a meeting of the Alorn Kingdoms, and it was about time they discussed world events.
With that out of the way, all that was left to be dealt with was the Murgo.
(I will post for that later.)

Arashak was marched into the King's hall, escorted by a royal guard.
The King looked down upon him from his throne. It was strange to think that so much hatred had existed between his people and the race of this man in the past. Yet now here he was as an invited guest, and a potential friend.
The King's secretary stood and announed the guest, introducing him as an ambassador. The King nodded his thanks to the announcer, who bowed and took his seat amongst the other courtiers. They were all staring fixedly on the man occupying the floor. The King had not been very specific about why the man had been invited, and they were all intrigued.
The King smiled to himself. He had grabbed their attention and, more importantly, their curiosity. Good. He cleared his throat and addressed the Murgo.
"Greetings Arashak, ambassador for the Murgo's. Welcome to my home. I have invited you here today to discuss the contents of the lettr which you have sent to me. Until now I had kept the contents of the letter confidential. Now however, I believe it is a matter that must be brought before the attention of the court.
I hope you will not feel like I am victimising you, as that is not my aim. I merely wish you to understand what the reaction of my people will be, as I expect to be mirrored in the reactions of my courtiers today.
Moving to the subject in hand then.
I am giving you the chance to make a formal application in person for the loan of some Cherek ships and sailors."
A gentle muttering ignited around the room. The King was interested to note that it was note one of outrage nor of concern. They seemed to be curious.
"This is an entirely unprecedented event. The people of my country have never before been used as mercenaries, nor as barganing tools. Before your application is considered, and on behalf of your King, I ask you to explain why we should make history this time round by allowing it.
You are not being judged, nor are you being mocked. You are simply being asked to undergo the same procedure that I woild make anyman wishing to set a new precedent go through.
Should your application be accepted by myself and the court, I will set aside a private chamber in which we can discuss the details of the arrangement. Should your application not be to appeal to the sympathy of the court, I would like to invite you to dinner as my guest, so that we may discuss some other way to strengthen the relations between our countries.
Arashak, honoured guest, the floor is yours."

Arashak looked around, then smiled.
The reason I ask for the ships is a simple one. Mallorea must fall. My King has seen what she can do, and it is not good. Mallorea is the most powerful kingdom on the eastern continent. If the east is taken, then the united powers of the west MIGHT Be able to defendd their lands, but it will be the end for all of the Angeraks, and the west would take thousands of years to recover. My King has no wish to start the old wars up again, we have to much planned. He then pulled out a Dagger, then put it to his heart. I am given an hounor to be given such a mission, but my King will come himself if need be. I ask for you to please allow it, for otherwise we will all suffer.
