The Insidious Class Electronics Warfare ship is the ultimate in specialist ships. It can carry out tasks that no other ship in most fleets (indeed in most navies) can do. It is carries standard Destroyer armament: small caliber naval gun, anti-air and anti-ship missiles, but these are merely there for defense and, more importantly, to make it look like a Standard Destroyer.

When deployed in an Electronics Warfare role, the ship can block enemy communication for miles, whilst hiding it’s only communication signals in the same carrier waves as the blocking signals. The ship can also flood almost every bandwidth with one dominant signal. Imagine the look on your enemy’s face as his vital reconnaissance report turns into your own National Anthem, or Propaganda, or whatever you want.

It is also capable of doing the reverse, overcoming enemy communication jammers, even without the enemy realizing, and again sending ‘enemy’ signals so perfect that they can be bounced off the enemy’s own satellites resulting in that reconnaissance report telling them what you want them know. No one will find out until the pilot returns to his carrier saying that his comms were blocked all along. Even that helps the enemy little, as they cannot then trust any of their radio intel reports and have to rely on word of mouth, and these are just some of this ship’s amazing capabilities.

So, if you want to throw an entire enemy fleet into disarray with firing a shot, the Insidious if for you.

but how does it dominate the electronic warfare division. Does it use Magic?

No... it uses a highly advanced and complex array of electronics warfare systems.

Explain these systems, please :)

The details are top secret, but mainly involve very powerful transmitters and advanced computer systems, coupledwith EW specialists.

If you can't explain how it works OOC then all you have is a ship that you claim can do this and that.. basically a cardboard box that floats.

Well it can hijack enemy communications by matching enemy signals and sending them to satellites (enemy) which then believe that the signals are friendly and relay them to enemy ships.

If you have questions about any other aspect of the ship's functions then please ask. Of course all of this is OOC as Im not going to tell you all this IC. Besides I didn't think you had to go into this much detail about how it works aslong as it's reasonable. If you start a nuclear project do you expect someone to ask you to explain nuclear fussion? Or provide missile schematics?

Doujin is just worried you will try and take control of the seas.

[OOC: Well, I don't think he's looking for the kind of detail you're suggesting, but he is asking for a basic idea of what the ship's capabilites and limitations are.

With the Alliance-class heavy cruisers in my navy, I didn't go into any great detail about how they operate, but the essential premise is that they're better armed and armored than ships that might be classified as heavy cruisers in most navies. Perhaps he's saying that you weren't able to convey that well enough in your previous descriptions of the ship.]

Lol. It doesn't matter how thick your armour is, the Insidious Class will screw up your communications, block your radar and then mess around with the ships computers, all through the power of a very large transmistter array, some very advanced signal generation andimitation equippment and some very skilled operators.

[OOC: One of these would be perfect for the seceding state in my Civil War. Is there some kind of unique radar signature that can be used to detect the ship? (referencing Star Trek VI where Uhura said "the thing's gotta have a tailpipe"). It'd have to be some kind of adjustment that a ship that's already in my navy can put in.

I'm planning to have the ship captured on its way to Nicksia and used by the rebel navy to cause a couple of losses for Sarzonia's navy until they make adjustments and/or capture the ship back.]

Sarzonia would like to order one Insidious-class destroyer at $1 billion.

Money will be wired upon confirmation of this order.

Thank you for your consideration.

Doujin: You shouldn't be - I have a piddling little navy. I am thinking of expanding it though but it will still be tiny.

Sarzonia: Well when loads of odd stuff keeps happening. I guess since it operates using equipment that isn't usually carried on ships you could detect it by triangulating the origin of very high frequency radio signals it emmits...

It isn't actually a stealth ship, but it generally blocks radar etc before it can be spotted. Anyway I hope you enjoy causing lots of mayhem with your Insidious Class. It will be dispatched immediately.
