Echigo-Kai
28-05-2004, 03:19
Above ground, northern Japan slept. It was nearly midnight, and all the oblivious souls there were asleep.
Except some.
Quite literally underground, beneath the ruins of an old castle in an ancient province, the leaders of the Echigo-Kai sect were plotting. Plotting for their dominion over Northern and possibly all of Japan. Their numbers were few, but the Japanese government would be unable to meet a determined assault, thanks to the state of disarmament America had placed them under.
Sitting at a round table, Oda Katsuyori, Takeda Kagekatsu, Uesugi Nobutada, and Shimazu Toyohide, the four daimyo of Echigo-Kai, had finalized their plans.
"Yes," Lord Katsuyori spoke. My tigers shall invest Sendai. Nobutada, your men will move south of Hirosaki. Toyohide, Sado is your target. Kagekatsu, the twin cities of Aomori and Hirosaki are your targets. Are we clear?
A chorus of "yes, Lord Katsuyori" was heard.
With that, the four daimyo clasped their katanas and left, emerging from the ruins of the castle and heading their separate ways.
Sado Island
Shimazu Toyohide and the entire Echigo-Kai Marine Corps, or EKMC, numbering some 24,000 men, slowly approached the sleeping island. The guards hardly had time to make noise before a bayonet slit their throat. Lord Toyohide himself killed the first one as the marines swarmed ashore, easily dispatching the police and guards on the island.
"All clear on Sado," went the radio message from Lord Toyohide.
Aomori and Hirosaki
Takeda Kagekatsu, with approximately 35,000 men and half of the armored forces, began the almost bloodless coup inside the twin cities. Police, guards, and military forces were surprised and horrible outgunned when they realized the scale of what was going on.
Takeda forces quickly seized the surrounding area and immediately began setting up fortifications.
"All clear in the twin cities," went the radio from the Takeda forces.
Sendai and surrounding areas
Lord Katsuyori, also with 35,000 men, moved into the Sendai area. The pattern established by Kagekatsu and Toyohide was repeated again, Katsuyori took a position at the center of Sendai while his subordinates took over the surrounding rural areas.
"All clear in Sendai."
South of Hirosaki
Uesugi Nobutada, equal with 35,000 men, moved into the ancient Echigo region, home of the Uesugi and his proud ancestor, Kenshin. The rural areas were quickly brought under his control, and he set to work fortifying his approaches and rebuilding the former glorious capital of Echigo province.
"All clear in Echigo."

The next morning the people of Northern Japan, the government, and the world woke to startling news. A lunatic fringe group, known as Echigo-Kai, had just taken control of large tracts of Northern Japanese land, declared it their feudal domain, and placed it under the rule of four daimyo, with a certain Oda Katsuyori at their head, and they were fortifying their domains with competant skill and weaponry.
OOC: Whew. Ok, some more information on the four daimyo to come soon.
Except some.
