Austar Union begins military operations in Columbia

Late this afternoon, President James Madison delivered a speech to the international press, critisizing the Columbian government for not being able to control their illegal drug trade;

"The world has only watched over the past decades as the political situation in Columbia has deterioted into an almost full scale civil-war, giving rise to a powerful, deadly, and illegal drug industry. Despite the Columbian attempt to quell such forces, I am still surprised to notice that the world has never attempted to aid the Columbians to conquer this world-threatening industry.

Just last week, the Austarian Bearau of Statistics has released the following report:"

It is estimated that there are some 4.5 million addicts to the illect range of drugs, 3 million of which are cocaine related. Out of these 3 million, it is estimated that 2.75 million of Austarian Illegal Imports are Columbian, or Columbian related.

The reported Columbian cocaine deaths in the Austar Union stands at approximatly 253 000 every year. On an UNREPORTED level, there are some estimated 350 000 Austarian deaths every year, as a result of the Cocaine industry in Columbia (including secondary-injury as Driving under influence etc).

On an estimated world scale, there are over a quarter of a billion deaths world-wide which are illict drug-related.
EXTRACT FROM THE COLUMBIAN DRUG INFLUENCE (2004)

"My friends, I will promise the world that if the Columbian government is unable to present a solution to the world with three months of this release, I will command an Austarian military exersise into the Latin Nation, and finally quell the international drug problem once and for all.

I truly hope, that the Columbians are willing to cooporate with us in this world problem."

OOC: I have intentions to make this into a war kinda thing, but with more special forces rather than millions of troops. If anyone wishes to RP Columbia, then they are totally welcome to (just create a new nation for Columbia and RP using Real World Columbian Statistics. Anyone is also welcome to RP the drug lords if they want.... etc etc.

PLEASE ASK ME BEFORE RPING A PARTICULAR FACTION

In Bogota, the Columbian President was reading the newspaper, when a diplomat walked into his office, "Sir, we have news from the Austar Union."

President Alvaro Velez looked up, "What do they want?"

The diplomat grew nervous, "They are critisizing our drug trade sir. They say they will implement a military force if we dont give them a solution."

President Velez gulped, "Ok, leave me now."

The diplomat left, and Velez immediatly walked over to his telephone. Waiting for a small while, he stayed on the line, until a man picked up the line. Latin music could be heard in the background.

"Sir," reported the President, "The Austar Union are threatening to take action if we dont provide a solution to our drug trade. I dont want to do that to you..."

"So," snorted the man on the other end, "Tell them to p*ss off."

The line cut off, and the President carefully placed the phone back into its cradel. Wiping his forehead, he called the diplomat back in, "Iznaz, I want you to nicely inform the Austarians not to involve themselves with our problems. Tell them that the drug trade although illegal, is uncontrollable."

The diplomat nodded, and ran down the path to inform the Communcations Staff.

In the Austar Union, President Madison read the reply that the Columbians gave. After a short discussion with the Intelligence Chief, he had discovered that the Columbians were suspected of being corrupted by the drug-lord forces.

"I cant believe it!", exclaimed President Madison slamming his fist on the desk, "Firstly they say they dont want our involvement in the matter, then they admit that the industry is well out of their control."

"Well sir," replied the Minister of Defense, "They are a soviereign nation. I mean, who are we to say that we have right to interfere?"

President Madison stood up, and ripped open the curtains, revealing a lit up Anatoba, glistening in the night, "There are Austarians dying out there Peter. There are world citizens out there dying because they cant control some damn illegal industry."

The Defense Minister stroked his chin, "You have an interesting point. But what gives US the right to enter, and not some other nation?"

"Abosulutely nothing sir," replied the President sitting back down, "Its just us taking the initiative"

The President pushed a button on his desk, signalling for the Secretary to answer, "Dolly? Could you please be a darl and get me General Anderson? I want him in my office within the next 12 hours..."

"Yes sir," replied Dolly over the speaker, "I'll call him right away"

Madison looked up to Peter, the defense minister, "I think this calls for us to send a presence sir. Can you come back in say, 12 hours?"

The Defense Minister nodded, "Yes, I can. I will let my family know."

The President smiled and nodded as the Defense Minister left the room.

The Columbian President was sitting peacefully in his office when there was a knock at the door, "Yes, come in..."

The diplomat from before-hand entered. Seemingly nervous, he hurried up to the President's desk, "Sir, I have grave news..."

"Well speak up boy!" ordered President Velez.

"Its news from the Austarians sir," replied the diplomat, "Theyre planning to mobilize forces."

Velez stood to his feet, and began to pace around the room. Picking a leaf off a potplant, he began to roll it, fold it, and bend it nervously, "How do you know this boy?"

The diplomat shrunk, "Spies sir..."

Velez grinned, "You mean we have spies inside the Austar Union?"

The diplomat shrunk even further, "Well, we did...."

Velez paused, looking at the diplomat, "What do you mean....we did?"

The diplomat looked to the floor, "Well sir, it goes like this..."

"Bah, I dont care," interrupted Valez, "We have more important things to think about"

The diplomat looked at Valez curiously, "Do you want me to go?"

Valez only nodded....

President Madison had already met with General Anderson, and they had defined a strategy. His nearest naval base to Columbia was in the Azores, so he had a feeling that the whole operation would either come in the form of an offshore fleet, or even a quick paratrooping division. Picking up the telephone, he called General Anderson, "Let it begin..."

(AU) National Broadcasting Corporation: NEWS

Just moments ago, President Madison delivered a powerful speech on the world, concerning the rising situation in Columbia;

"People of the world. It has come today, that the world should combat the drug markets. Such nations have been the center of much of the world's illegal drug industry, including Columbia.

No longer, should our children be killed after the next injection. No longer, shall our children suffer at the profit of those who practise drug growth and development. Such evil exists in Columbia.

We have attempted to work cooporativly with the Columbians. But I say, ENOUGH! I will not stand for more deaths resulting from the drug industry. Today, we fight the combatents of the evil industry of Cocain. Tommorow, we will not shy from fighting the combatents of Herion etc.

I hope you all grieve with me, with my nation at the lost generations. The lost generations, to the evils of the illicid drug industry..."

After delivering the speech to the world, Madison was seen crying, presumably over his late brother, who was lost to a drug overdoes at the age of 17.

In the meantime, no further information on the actual war has been released by the the Austarian government.

As a result of the passionate speech by President Madison of the Austar Union I have ordered two carrier groups just to outside of Colombia’s maritime claims. We will be contacting the Colombians to negotiate with them the reduction and eventual end of the cocaine export industry. We will support the AU and be in contact with them for the duration of this endeavor. However I would personally like to inform President Madison that this is his show, this is his theatre and we’re not looking to step on any toes.

President Eric Lincoln

An Official Communiqué to the government of Colombia was sent promptly after the above address.

Greetings President Velez;
We have become somewhat concerned with mass exportation of cocaine from your country. We are going to be assisting you with this problem of yours and ask what you think the best way to stop its exportation is. Our ships will hold position in international waters for the time being, however we will be killing off any of the cocaine plants left in your country. Any cooperation you care to give is welcomed, soon this despicable trade will cease.

President was sitting in his office, sipping whiskey when there was a knock at the door, "Come in...."

General Anderson entered the room, and the President stood, shaking his hand, "Hello Mr. President. Ive just come to inform you of our current situation in Columbia."

Madison smiled, "Ah, well take a seat son. Tell me everything you know."

"Well sir, there have been some developments," replied the General, "Not major may I add, but developments still."

Anderson pulled out a folder, and scattered documents onto the President's table, the President leaned over to have a look, "Well son, Im still interested in whats happening so dont you worry."

The General smiled, "Well sir, this is a general photograph of Columbia via SPYSAT7. You will see that the Columbians apparently to be gathering some form of resistance.

Bleland has been yet to comment REALLY, but it looks like they will support our campaign. They have seen to want some kind of evidence of the Columbian support for the coccain market."

President Madison chuckled, "Hmm, well there was some evidence in the past of high level corruption, I think in the early 90's, but stuff it. We dont need their support if they cant just accept the facts."

General Anderson nodded, "United Elias has troops in Panama, so I have a feeling that they might aid us, probably in the northern-west of Columbia.

And Nova Hope has publically given the Austar Union their support."

"Well it seems all is well then," commented the President

General Anderson nodded again, "Well I have a few paratrooper regiments ready for deployment sir. Do you want me to give the order?"

President Madison thought for a second, "Very well. Give the order."

20KM NORTH-WEST OF CARTAGENA

Ian Falcon stood on the flight deck of one of the carriers, yelling his orders to a mass of soldiers, "Sons of the Republic, your job is VITAL to the operation. It is YOUR job, to pave the way for the rest. There are 10000 of you who will take part in this operation. I will name this operation, OPERATION SANDGRAB. It is your job, to land, and hold a portion of the beach, and its surrounding areas. You have your orders. God Bless you, and God Bless the Austar Union."

The small gathering of men cheered, and in an organised fashion, they ran to the large transport on the carrier. Two minutes later, the transport was seen flying towards the beach between Cartagena, and Covenas. Escorted by five FA-18's, they continued towards the beach, where the troops would be dropped. Once dropped, they would lie in waiting, avoiding any conflict as possible.

This operation would continue for Twenty-Four hours, wherapon the 10 000th troop would touch ground.

As soon as the last troop touches the ground, the Austarians would move out and secure the area for 1km radius from the actual beach.

The president’s office was just being touched by the light of the morning. Savoring his coffee Eric thought to himself, ‘why don’t the Colombians focus on their coffee? This is fantastic stuff! I’ll have to offer their farmers subsidies after this is done, I don’t know how much the AU is going to play maid. They might leave that job to us…’ The President’s train of thoughts was interrupted by a knock on the door.
“Come in I’m decent” The President joked. The general came in and gave the president, dressed in the finest suit brand this country had to offer, a once over before continuing.
“Well Mr. President the Austarians have begun their campaign.”
“Oh?” Came the reply from the commander in chief, his face ½ covered by the coffee mug.
“Yessir. Sat recon has picked up movement, it looks like they’re beachhead is somewhere between Covenas and Cartagena. We didn’t get a real good look before the satellite moved on in orbit.”
“I see… I’d like a couple of satellites set in geo-synchronies orbit, just enough to watch the entire country at once. Get intel to divert some resources on it I want to know when the troops in there are taking a shit let alone deploying en masse. What’s the ETA of our carrier groups?”
“Puissant and her group are due in theatre shortly, while Forseti and her group are a day behind (A few RL hours).”
“Hmmmm dispatch the Aegir, the Azrael, the Basho and the Charles de Gaulle. I want to be able to stop even the smallest raft from entering the pacific from Columbia. Oh and General.”
“Yes?”
“Make sure they’re outside of Colombian water, we are going to wait for the official response from the government before we send anything at all.”
“Yessir.”
“What’s the ETA on all carrier groups?”
“All six carrier groups should be in theatre by the day after tomorrow (Tommorrow evening RL)”
“Excellent, dismissed.”

With that the general saluted, turned in the abrupt military fashion and left the President to his coffee.

OOC: Starblaydia is in the North-Western region of South America, for this RP I'd like to treat Ecuador and Peru as a Starblaydia/Columbia border.

The Starblaydi officers stood on the hill that overlooked the border with Columbia, scanning the horizon for anything unusual. Across the verdant grass and thick forests, there was definitely movement, far in the distance, but they couldn't tell what was happening at this range, not even with their 'Big Eyes' lenses.

"You heard what the Austar Union is up to?" the CO asked.

"Yeah, caught it on the news last night," his Sergeant replied, "you think we should tell them where all the coke fields are?"

"It'd be nice, wouldn't it? But then again we'll let their grunts find out where the booby traps and underground hidey-holes are." he said, "I don't want to lose any more men to this damned 'trade'."

"I hear ya."

The three men were poorly dressed, but heavily armed. They appeared to have on the tattered remains of various military uniforms; one a deep grey with a red hammer and sickle, one a green camoprint with someone elses name on the left breast, and the third a rustic green color with no adornments. All three carried AK-47s with plenty of amo clips at their hips. Various sidearms sitting snuggly on chest holsters and knives were hidden about each man. These men were walking weapons, and with a mentality to match.

They finally came across what they were looking for: a single branch, stripped of its leaves, with a single swipe of red paint. Reaching to the ground, the lead man, the one in grey, fumbled a bit before finding the camofluaged cover. Lifting it, him and the two others slipped silently down into the concealed tunnel and walked down a narrow dirt shaft, supported by massive wooden beams. Four more men sat musing over a map upon a rickety old table when at last the three reached a wide opening, lit by a single keroseen lamp. A man clad in a black colonel's uniform from some unknown country looked up to the man in grey.

"Have the last of the traps been set, mon ami?"

"Aye comrade. Our men throughout the country have mobilized. We've dug 200 pits, filled with sharpened metal shafts. Some 300 trips switches throughout the forest will activate poison gas canisters or nets, depending on the switch. It ought to slow them down long enough for a few hundred more DR agents to be flown into the country for this fight to freedom."

The man in black gave a silent nod, and a wicked grin.

Columbia: Beach location SLIGHTLY SECRET

On the beach, the Austarian Paratroopers had landed on the beach, and had already begun to move through the jungle, securing the area.

Commander Roanne Tilk stood on the beach, looking out to the sea. Although it was too far, he knew the Austarian fleet was out there. Reaching to his belt, he pulled out a radio, and put the microphone to his mouth, "Austarian Fleet Ichnubis, phase one of operation SANDGRAB has been completed with ease. Suggesting immediate commence of phase two."

Still looking out, the Commander put the radio back into its hoist.

Admiral Plaskett had just recieved word from the beach of Columbia. So far, there were no losses, and no sign of the Columbians were made. Looking at the radar, he could see the allied fleets beginning to arrive in the distance.

"All is well then. Commence phase two..."

Within the hour, small amphibious assault boats were rushing towards the Columbian beach. Over a period of three days, some 50 000 men would be landed on the beach. Once on the beach, they had orders to make camp, but to stay vigilant for any Columbian forces.

Finally, the transportation was complete. Operation SANDGRAB had been overwhelmingly successful, only 6 men had been killed. From the Austar Union, General Anderson was giving his orders.

...Two Hours Later

As the troops, 50 000 spread into the jungle, they began to break up into small units of 20 each. Each unit would move seperatly from each other, but would collaborate their moves via orders from the Union.

Just a few minutes ago, they had their orders. Heading south, towards Covenus. Under the cover of the jungle, they snuck southward, ready for any ambush. This was guerilla territory, and they had to remain aware at all times. At this rate, they would reach Covenus within the next three days.

Suspecting the enemy was literally silent, the Austarians knew that they also had to be silent, and match the enemy. Overhead the treeline, Austarian Choppers were flying around the area, checking for large movements of the enemy forces, though not firing unless ordered.

The men moved like shadows, AK-47's hugged close to their chests. Not a twig snapped underfoot as they took their positions. They'd been tracking a band of soldiers from the Austar Union for some time now and had finally overtaken them via little-known paths and routes taken only by the surrounding wildlife and DR agents. Colonel Panov pressed his back flat to a nearby boulder, set firmly upon an incline, signalling that three agents stay with him, another five to move to a nearby tangle of vines and growth that might provide them cover. Crouching down, they seemed to melt into nature itself.

The time ticked by slowly, each measured breath silent and careful. Suddenly the sound of the 20 troops could be heard not far away. They were clearly taking steps to be stealthy and had the agents not been tracking them from their beach landing, they may not have found them now. As they passed between the two groupings of agents, three grenades were tossed among the troops, a smoke and two fragmentation. As the area filled with acrid black smoke, the agents opened fire with their rifles, spraying a hot metal shower down onto the enemy.

OOC: Well no answer so I’ll proceed.
IC:

The president was reviewing some classified documents on another matter when the sharp report of an urgent knock broke the silence. He shuffled his documents into his desk and spoke aloud.
“Come.”
The door opened, it was the general in charge of the Columbian theatre. He gave a smart salute and then continued, the door swing shut behind him.
“Sir all order forces are in position.”
“What of the Columbian government?”
“They have not responded to us on official terms. However there appears to be some resistance to the AU encroachment.” The General passed a group of large photos to the President. “As you can see by this sir there have been several small skirmishes in the Jungle just off the AU beach head.”
“Hmm, what do you think?”
”Well sir I’m of the impression that the Columbian government has gone to ground.”
“Well,” The President smiled “That might make our job easier. Bring freighter loaded with this...” his pen scratches something out on the paper, “To rendezvous with the carrier groups. Also start a blockade of the entire pacific coast of Columbia. I want you to stop every raft that looks like it’s doing more than fishing.”
“Yessir, but they’ll expect an announcement.”
“I’ll address the world. That’ll be all.”

Announcement on international television

“Hello and good evening to the Noviet people, I wish you well. I come to you tonight to explain to you my reasons for ordering a blockade of the western half of Columbia. I have dispatched six carrier groups to the theatre to stop all naval traffic in and out of this country.

Some ask why, I will tell you. Because it is right. The flow of cocaine from Columbia claims many lives every year, this is an assault. It’s war, war on our people. People talk about the war on drugs but they don’t see the casualties. *pictures of broken homes and crack addicted young mothers scroll in the background behind the president* we are being attacked with more tenacity than the civilian bombing of London in WWII. We lose more loyal Noviets everyday and yet nothing is done. We have people ODing and dieing from this stuff in nigh uncountable numbers and now, we will strike back. Some of the largest shipments of cocaine in the world travel through the seas we are blockading and now we will remove this part of the ocean from their greedy grasps.

As for my plans in Columbia, we have on several occasions contacted that government. Now after abject silence for an indeterminate amount of time we have determined that the Columbian government is no longer in control and the civil war has taken its toll. As such we have decided to act, an invasion and stabilization plan is in effect. I have presented it to the PM and he is supporting it. But, as you know the House of Commons is not a majority government and as such I need you support. Contact your member of parliament, tell them you support the war on drugs tell them you support, operation White Griffin.

Thank you, and good night.”

In the Jungle...

As the Austarian band of troops walked through the jungle, three objects were thrown at them. "Dive!", yelled one of the men. As they all began to dive into the ditch beside them, two of the objects exploded, instantly killing two of the soldiers. As the area filled with smoke, the rest of the Austarians sat low as they could hear the firing of guns coming from the other side of the smoke.

Staying low, they could feel the dust being spread over them from the bullets hitting the ground just above their heads. One of the Austarians winked at the others, motioning to them to be ready. Through the smoke it was impossible to see. One of the Austarians crept forward. Yelling, he had the ability to project his voice, [i]"Hey, over here!", he yelled, projecting it so that it came from the trees on the side where the agents came from.

Assuming the agents had turned around towards the sound, the Austarians readied their guns, and began opening fire through the smoke, in bursts. As the Austarians stayed low, they waited to hear if the enemy had been killed. One of the Austarians held his leg, which was bleeding badly...

In the meantime... in another part of the Jungle

Two Austarian Squads travelling together all paused on the trail. Below them, over the edge of a small cliff, they would see a trail of Columbian troops walking along. Staying low, they crept up to the edge, and began firing at the Columbians below...

The B-2 glided silently through the sky on a very erratic path. At 50,000ft it darted above the cloud cover staying concealed to anyone below. When the B-2 was a few kilometres NW of Bogotá the bomb bay doors opened and two figures jumped out. The figures sailed through the air for a few thousand feet before the parachute gliders opened and they descended to earth. Touching down on the canopy of the rain forest the two Hispanic looking figures packed up their parachutes and began to climb down the large trees they were lodged on.

NNAO agent Jung Cho looked over to his friend and fellow agent Bae Chang. He looked odd with the cosmetic surgery done to him to make Hispanic, Cho was sure he looked similarly odd to Chang. Not to say the alterations weren’t perfect, they were, it was just odd looking into Chang’s face and recognize a stranger.

The two men hiked in silence, there was nothing to say. They both knew the plan and they were both professionals. It was a quiet walk with no real trouble, this part of the jungle was chosen via sat recon for its sacristy of armed patrols. Walking to the city limits the two stopped and changed into tweed suits. These agents wanted to look upper class but not so much so that they were obvious, and in a 3rd world country that can be a bit of a challenge but they were prepared. Taking a knapsack out of their military grade duffels they dropped their stuff in it and shoved the duffels into the bottom. With a sigh Cho began to exit the jungle and enter the shanty town lying on the outskirts of the Columbian capital.
“Welcome to Bogotá eh?” Chang smiled at his own joke following Cho.

Ooc: The purpose of these agents will be to locate some defectors and informers. Columbia do you want to RP the defectors or shall I? Sorry about assuming the entry but I figured it was reasonable, if its not I can change it. I stopped before I did anything big.

As the day continued, the Austarians continued southward toward Covenus. Now just 50km away from the tiny city, they had reported that they were relitavely unopposed, except for the occasional skirmish, which were so far successful.

As the Austarian soldiers moved through the jungle, above the treeline, five Harriers were deployed to attack any ground enemy troops. Another five were deployed to begin raids on Covenus defenses, and government or military command centers.

As the operations continued on, twelve apache's were deployed to the general area. They had orders to kill any ground soldier concentrations they could find.

Colonel watched with grim disgust as the head of the man next to him literally exploded, three rounds of Austarian bullets hitting him in rapid succession. Ripping the remaining grenade off the belt of the dead agent, he lobbed the frag grenade into the fray. Ducking, he gave a harsh, animalistic whoops and fired a few more times into the slowly clearing smoke before bolting off into the forest with the members of his squad, minus one. Silent and swift, they disappeared amid the fern and foliage. It wasn't until they were a good distance away that he realized his arm was dripping with a steady trickle of blood from where a bullet had grazed his arm. Quickly wrapping a bandage around the wound, they continued on their way.

Fifty agents had trekked silently through the forest, walking a parallel course to that taken by the Columbian Junta. Once reaching their target, they swung out to their left and took cover deep among the foliage. Many of the agents had made their lives in this jungle and knew it better than they knew any one person in the world. Concealing themselves almost entirely amongst rock and vine, they let a wall of lead fly towards the enemy.

From various place throughout the forest, the burst fire of a few dozen AK-47's could be heard, as well as the deep punch of Protectera automatic shotguns. A number of rocket launchers were present as well, though only a few currently in use. The jungle seemed to glow with weapons fire.

As the center came under attack, the soldiers, 1000 strong all stayed low within the compound. A few explosions were heard, and a few buildings were teared apart with machine gun fire.

"Where are they dammit!" yelled Commander Hilgen
"Sir," replied an officer pointing, "Infra-red shows them to be over here, and here..."

As the firing continued, the two officers continued to assess the best form of defense.

"Permission to suggest best form of defense sir?", asked the officer...
"Permission granted..." replied the Commander Hilgen, waiting for the suggestion.
"Sir, we know where they are... We wont be able to exit our buildings without taking losses... I suggest we contact Admiral Plaskett and use his fleets. Cruise Missiles sir.." suggested the officer...

The Commander nodded, and picked up the satellit phone, contacting Admiral Plaskett for assistance... Minutes later, four cruise missiles were shot, each one at a different cluster of troops around the compound. They were being guided by sattelite, which was in turn being located by the compound's infra-red. Surely the Columbians would take heavy losses from such a calculated manoever...

The explosion sent various agents and parts of agents raining down through the forest. 18 instantly dead, another 4 wounded. Colonel Dakaw edged his way away from the small crater left by the missle and toward Specialist Mengsk.

"Mengsk, it's time to prove yourself. I want you and Specialist Galen to set the charges. We'll give you supression fire and pull out as soon as you return."

With nothing more than a nod to Galen, Mengsk took off towads the nearest building, pulling a C4 charge from its place on his belt. As cover fire tore through the command center, Galen moved to another nearby construct and set his charge. Ensuring they were both functional, the men ran crouched back to the Dominion attack line. A whoop filled the air and he agents gave a few last shots before disappearing back into the forest, fading into nothingness. Forty seconds until the detonation.

A building in the compound exploded, throwing shards of concrete and bricks everywhere. The Renewed terrorists had apparently blown up a storage building...

As the flares were launched by the Columbians, the cruise missiles gave no response... they were sattelite guided, not heat seeking.

In the meantime, from deeper within the camp, some explosions came from the barracks. One had been damaged by morter fire, killing 7 soldiers.

In the meantime, overhead, seven Apache helicoptors arrived, using infra-red display to seek and kill any of the rebels who remained in the jungle. As a few more cruise missiles came in, the Apaches began opening fire into the remaining clusters of enemy troops, occasionally firing a Hellfire missile into a larger cluster...

In the meantime, while the base was under attack...

The Austarian Troops were now nearing Covenus. It was estimated that there were some 10 000 troops in the jungle nearby, ready to launch the attack on the town. Silently and Secretly, they hid in the jungle, awaiting orders to begin the assault on the small town.
The Renewed

The DR attack group, now significantly smaller, had made their way silently through the jungle and back to their encampment near Covenus. They had come from cells all over the world, now some 2,000 strong, several times the size of the cell originally residing within the country. These were some of their best gunners and most brilliant strategians, arrayed with all the weaponry the DR could muster. With the time it had taken for the troops of the Austar Union to forge their way into the forest, the Dominion had even managed to move in a few AA batteries, to supplement the numerous handheld versions. They sat concealed among vines as ferns, as agents moved about making last minute preparations. Deep breastworks had been dug around portions of the base and all agents had been given gas masks. Most carried AK-47's, although some were armed with Protecteras, rocket launchers, and an array of other automatic weaponry. Mines surrounded both the base and Covenus.

Colonels Dakaw and Proudhon stood looking out into the jungle, appearing calm and collected. Proudhon, young and idealistic, gave a firm nod.

"We'll be ready."

Dakaw gave a nod of affirmation. "They'll massacre us."

Proudhon turned to his long time friend, startled. "But this is the best fighting force the DR's ever put together..."

A dry chuckle was followed by the older colonels response. "Have you seen their numbers?" With that, he shouldered his AK and began a slow swagger towards his place in one of the trenches.

Covenus

The general surveyed the town, under his guidance they had hidden AA batteries and AA rockets. Probably useable unless stared at, the troops had permission to fire once aircraft got over the town or spotted them. They were spread out every couple of blocks. Before the town there were trench networks, the first line was fake and filled with mines, in the next there were AT and machine gun posts by the dozen, there were three real lines of trenches each with about 200 men in, inside the city there were rocket launchers and tanks, concealed and only to move when enemy were spotted, there were also 2000 troops with various weapons inside the town, there was the odd placed, machine gun, they were placed to give maximum cover. There were a few baricades, 5 of the in street corners at the middle of town. There were also 2 fake ones further forward with massive mines that would detonate when anyone touched the barricade. Nearby there were a couple of airports under protection of a couple of trench networks, around 2000 men guarding them, they had bombers fighters and helicopters ready to aid them, they already had spotter planes out but they were not very efficient with dozy crews.....

As the planes began to fly overhead, DR agents scrambled for cover. Being outside the city, only a few planes had strayed towards the encampment, but it was enough. As the bombs began to drop, chunks of earth went flying through the air, as well as a few men. AA weaponry began firing throughout the tiny base, the big turrets blasting away with furious power. Their thunder echoed through the mountain side, as shells filled the air, reaching out like grasping fingers for the metal birds overhead. 27 dead, but not an agent had lost the fight in them yet.

Meanwhile in the Carribean Sea...

The submarine was a small wonder. It glided almost silently through the dark waters, the latest technology keeping it from being detected on radar until within only meters. Moderately armed it was a silent assassin. Although perhaps one a bit out of shape. Though silent and powerful, it was ridiculously slow. And so it plodded through the ocean, without a sound, but plodding none-the-less.

Within the hour they reached their target. It sat before them, broad underbelly offering a tempting target.

A voice gave a harsh whisper through the ship. "Target the main aircraft carrier. I want it down in one assualt. Fire everything we've got."

With that an array of torpedoes shot forth from the sub, heading straight for the carrier. Each torpedo targeted a different section of the ship, all ready to tear her to shreds. With this done, the sub began to drop to the ocean floor.

On the floodlit flight deck of the aircraft carrier Unity four EA-220B Joint Tactical Bombers (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=88103&highlight=) were being checked over by the ground crew in various coloured fluorescent jackets. Meanwhile the last ordnance trolleys were wheeled out of the way, along with fuel and generator lines, the planes were ready for action.

Then from the base of the island structure the crew arrived, having had their mission briefing. Commander Aziz, the squadron leader looked around as tropical rains emptied onto the deck with furious aggression. As he climbed into his cockpit, he though throught the mission once again, it was short and simple enough but the weather sure was nasty, not good for the chopper pilots who were flying backwards and forwards from Panama City. For this mission however they would be fighting in another conflict and supporting allied forces rather than their own.

As the canopy slowly closed, his WSO called out and broke his thought, “Okay ready for pre-flight?”

“Sure, lets do this.” He picked up his checklist even though he knew it off by heart, “Fuel Check.”

“Check, All tanks reporting Green, range to target area 233 nautical miles, Heading 069.”

“IBs 1 through 7.”

The WSO checked the internal bays on his stores computer and saw the weapons matched the mission requirements, two EAW-67 AAMs, four EAW-78 AAMs and fourteen wind corrected munitions dispensers.

“FCS, ECS, AWP, MPCB, FLIR, APU”
“All green, go for flight.”
He gives a signal to the deck officer and in return gets back the start up signal.
“Okay Light ‘em, up.”
“Copy, okay for start.”
Outside the group the deck crew step back as the engines spool up.
“1 is up…2 is up.”
“Throttles 15%.”
“Turbines online, good to go.”
Commander Aziz switches to the frequency for the combat direction centre, “Red Dawn this is Silver Six One, ready to go.”

“Roger, Silver Six, taxi over to Cat 2, and standby.”

“Will, do, thanks.”

The throttles idling, the plane gently started to roll towards the catapult when the park brake was released and then he could see that Sliver Six Two, Three and Four were starting engines. Three minutes later and the plane was affixed to the cat and only now could the wings be unfolded, such was the wingspan of the ‘Ghost’.

"Silver Six One, standing by, requesting mission clearance."

"Six One cleared for flight, good luck."

He pushed the throttles to military power and snapped a salute to the deck officer. Seconds later the plane was blasting down the deck and then soared into the air gracefully and mishap free. As the Commander took control back from the computer he banked to the right after retracting the gear, and saw the second stealth bomber already on the other catapult.

Just North of Covenus, 03:21 Local Time

Just over half an hour later, the four aircraft approached the Columbian coastline, flying at high altitude in loose formation.

As they approached the target area, the Mk4015 radar operating in low emissions mode flashed up synthetic aperture and near photo quality images of the town. The WSO of the lead plane using the onboard system computed a firing solution based on the targets location, dispersion and environmental conditions. Commander Aziz then allowed the attack computer to takeover flying and the other aircraft followed suit, the computers carefully adjusting heading and speed to maximise the accuracy of the ordnance.

When they were still eight miles from the radar blips that symobilsed enemy tanks and fortifications, the fire control system automatically opened the internal bays and released fourteen Wind Corrected Munitions Dispensers from each of the four aircraft which would then guide themselves to several points in the target area. When the bombs approached they would each release 202 anti-personnel / anti-materiel Combined Effects Bombs (CEB) that would scatter over an area roughly 800 feet by 400 feet, killing or maiming anything within the 'death zone' and with 56 of these weapons in total, targeted with overlapping death zones, coverage would be almost complete. The defenders of Covenus were about to be in for a very nasty suprise.

Even before their bombs impacted, and without even flying over Columbian territory, the four aircraft turned around for the most challenging part of the mission, the night carrier landing.

Wait a minute you let united elias in when you refused that terrorist nation, seems unfair to me

As the men had heard plains they had scattered abut still suffered some 200 casulties.Without time to get down properley they contacted the airbase

AIRBASE

with the message recieved fighters and bombers were scrambled to find the carrier or airfeild, the planes struggled for age's and finally found the carrier, they flew down anddoging the AA's and aircraft flew in for a bombing run, they had lost 5 bombers and 2 fighters to flak by the time they were diagonal to the carrier, they released a total of 40 bombs,12 failed to work and dropped dopwn without explodding, but the rest were flying true and were aimed right.

COVENUS

The scout planes had finally found a pocket of enemy troops in the jungle near covenus, they dropped bombs but were inacurate, reports were sent back to covenus hq and a massive payload of heavy mortar shells were fired into the enemy area, there were believed to be about 50 troops there, the mortar commander smiled,it seemed there would be 50 less to worry about. And there were no threat of bombers now, they had 5 fighters flying over the city now.

Two hundred ten B-2 bombers sailed towards their targets branching off slightly from each other as they went straight line towards their targets. The majority of them where heading out towards small villages, some no bigger than twenty people. Twenty of them where headed towards Buenaventura. All two hundred ten of them were after the same thing, docks. Some docks where the large modern ones which accepted tankers, like the ones in Buenaventura, others where nothing more than small wooden planks sticking out in the water so that a row boat could be attached to it.

The following is an excerpt from the conversation inside one of the B-2s.
“That’s it?!?!?!” the pilot’s voice was incredulous.
“Checking, yea the coordinates are right, you want to bring the solution online and launch this Maverick now?”
“I can’t believe this! This dock, and I use the term loosely, can’t be more than a few claws worth of material! A maverick costs a hundred times that!”
“Regardless we have our orders, solution, now please.”
“This is ridiculous, why are we blowing this up?”
“Because we are trying to stop the influx of cocaine to the Pacific Ocean, if there’s no dock no coke. Now blow it up jeez.”
The pilot then cleared his throat, shook his head and began to bring the screen for the maverick online, seconds later the missile leapt from the bay of the B-2 towards the dock.
“Well there goes some wood and a row boat, mission confirmed I guess…”

With no inkling of an oncoming attack the bombers struck all of their targets with no immediate reactions from the ground. In Buenaventura the air defence was alerted only after the first three where destroyed. JASSM missiles slammed into the few and far between AA sites from the B-2s, still 180 miles away. The B-2s not engaging the dismal ground forces flew over the docks at 50,000ft and began dropping Mk-84 bombs to level the docks. In excess of a thousand bombs where dropped to ensure these docks where leveled. After empting their bays the B-2s turned and made their way back towards the Noviet mainland.

Admiral Konyo Aoki had just spoken to his XO about his orders, the XO was excited about getting underway, apparently warning fishing ships over the last few days was not the most glamorous job in the military. Aoki was more cautious, getting involved in a nigh civil war where everyone had an agenda and a gun was going to be difficult, he knew the people would not be happy to see them, not at first at least, maybe later. Aoki opened the door to the bridge.
“Admiral on deck!”
The bridge came to attention the admiral smiled, he always loved stuff like this, respect when he was born into a family that commanded none.
“As you were.” He responded. Clearing his throat and then booming in his ‘admiral’s voice’
“All right listen up! I’ve received my orders. Comms get the assault ships on the phone I want them to start flack speed for the docks. Flight deck I want night hawks to be just starting to launch ordinance as they’re coming in, no sooner I don’t want these guys on alert. Contact all battleships in theatre and tell them to prep for bombard, no civilian targets. I want this all to be on the up an up the president goes on air in less than four hours and I want us to all look good on camera, understood?”
“YESSIR!” was the resounding reply from the bridge.

OOC: Junta, the ships aren’t any closer but there are some unmarked freighters and supply ships approaching now. I stopped the RP here to give you a chance to react. They are trying to be inconspicuous and broadcasting to the port like any other tanker or freighter would.

Earlier in Bogotá NNAO agents Jung Cho and Bae Chang had gotten a dingy apartment. Cho was fairly sure that the landlord thought he was a wanna-be drug lord, regardless he fit right in. Cho was at the window right now, watching the capital building through a telephoto lens, recording every second. They’d already picked their mark, a young intern who talked too much when drunk. He was only stage one, contact needed to be made, Bae was doing that tonight. The plan was Bae would buy a few rounds of drinks for the bar under the pretense that he was a new father, or he’d gotten a promotion, which ever he thought was best at the time. After a few rounds of drinks the intern, if true to form the intern would ask for more. Then Bae would initiate contact. Right now he was in disguise and scoping out the place. The disguise seemed hardly necessary but this was a professional job and they’d be on their toes just in case. Jung looked over to the sophisticated equipment they’d brought, and to the satellite link up, now informing him of two things. One that operation ‘White Griffin’ was approved and beginning soon and that another team was being put into Bogotá the same way he and Bae were.

OOC: The intern, unless you object, will be telling me who to go to for this kind of information. He will only be able to give me names, no pertinent info like where they are. If you’d like to provide me with drug lord names and who would be approachable next up the ladder that’d be good. Otherwise just tell me and I’ll keep winging it how I am.

In the Carribean :: Austarian Fleet Positions
-------------------------------------------

On board the carrier, the radar officers had detected small blimps on the screen.

"We have inbound aircraft, unidentified, suggesting hostile.....upgrade defenses to.....codered...", said one of the officers standing on the deck.

Immediatly, the general alarm sounded, and all over the carrier men ran to their stations, whether it be anti-aircraft or the aircraft themselves. On the flight deck, fighters were taking off in a frenzy, and some began patrolling the skies above the carrier while the majority of them went straight to counter the old-outdated enemy aircraft.

Within minutes, some 60 fighters had visual of the enemy. They were indeed Columbian. Up until the end, the fighters kept formation. Firing their missiles, they immediatly broke formation, not waiting to see their results... Firstly they were targetting the fighters. Secondary targets were the bombers. Just 1.5 miles from the carrier, the dogfight began.

Underneath the air battlezone, the fleets were taking positions and began to fire with their anti-aircraft missiles. Using a combination of the Stinger missiles and special aircraft ID technology, the incoming enemy fighters would stand little chance, and it was estimated that they would be decimated within minutes...

-----------------------------
Covenus
-----------------------------

As the fighters roared over the Columbian skies, they noticed small resistance. The enemy had begun to fire with their anti-aircraft, assumingly the guns. Smiling, Robert, one of the Pilots knew that the cities defenses were unmatching to the fighters that roared overhead.

And with new support from the United Elias, the city defenses was expected to fall easily within the hour.

As the explosions continued, an explosion came from below, off a bit into the jungle. Ground Troops thought it was a strange tactic, to fire where they thought troops MIGHT be. (OOC: I say this simply because they ARE hidden in the jungle, and they DONT assemble in large groups) Yet the Austarians shrugged it off. Gripping their guns tighter, they had just recived word from command. They were to begin the assault.

As the Austarians readied themselves, a whistle came from the commanding troops. Immediatly, the Austarians began to run out of the jungle, into thinner growth. As they reached a small rocky outcrop, they looked below over a small cliff, and below them lay Covenus. Pointing their guns over the ridge, they began firing into the areas where the Columbians had began to assemble....

While all this was going on, some 10 000 special forces troops had began to secretly move around the southern and western side of Covenus. Effectively, they had surrounded the city, and the only likely outcome was victory.

With the air assault continueing, and the ground assault beginning, it seemed as if the Columbians were in dire trouble. To make matters worse, troops had begun paratrooping into the small city, into the eastern outskirts. As the troops landed, the turned around towards the trenches which the Columbians had established. Knowing they had come into the backside of the Columbian defenses, they knew that Covenus was going to be a Columbian slaughter.

As some 100 troops came up to the trenchline, they looked into the trenches where the Columbians looked like they were looking towards the outside of the city. Pointing their guns into the trenches, they began to open fire on the poor Columbian soldiers who seemed unaware of the gathering forces BEHIND their defenses.

Nearby Covenus

Taking note of the movements of the Austarian troops, a detachment of DR agents had crept from their bunkers and made their way toward the city of Covenus. With eyes throughout the jungle, it took them little time to notice the special forces making their way towards the Columbians. The distance was short, and in the chaos surrounding them, they needed to worry little of stealth. They traveled with their armaments well concealed, and the lead runner bore the flag of the Dominion. Once within shouting distance of Columbian troops, they held up their hands in a show of non-agression. "We have information on Austarian troops positions. Don't shoot."

Inside Covenus

The group was small, but some of the best trained of the DR agents. There were about 30 in the city, considered to be special ops, and possessing knowledge in a variety of self-defense schoolings. Without a sound two of them now made their way through the back alleys of the city. Creeping into an abandoned building with a decent view of the surrounding area, they moved up to the top floor and watched as Austarian troops dropped from the sky. Sure to keep the noses of their sniper rifles well within the cover of the shadows, they fired at the lead men heading towards a group of entrenched Columbians. Just as these troops opened fire into the bunkers, several more sniper shots rang out from nearby buildings at these very same troops.

COVENUS

as they opened fire on the Columbian soldiers the mines that were in the trench they had crossed caused an enormous explosion spreading over the trenches a little where the enemy were crossing. They had suffered 32 casualties in the first trench but with the Austarians so close the other 168 pushed there bayonets forward and fired straight into the enemy advance. Meanwhile in the city the rockets and AA's fired at the planes concentrating on one are at a time. Unfortunatley for the Austarians in the city they ran into the barricades they slaughtered the troops who were on the wrong sides but when they crossed the last two barricades they exploded as the Austarians were crossing. Having recovered the tanks and troops in the city began to encircle the enemy off from there advancing colleagues. At the edge of the city the rocket launchers opened fire at the advancing troops, each were 'stalins organs' and fired off a horrendous amount of firepower into the enemy advance.

The freighters had steamed up until they could see the faces of the dock workers. They looked eager to unload the ship as they had had very little work lately with the Noviet blockade in place. Coming in the dock workers waved and smiled at the soldiers on the ship, their next reaction was almost comical. As the soldiers began to open up the shipping containers and drive the tanks onto the deck of the ship the workers did a double take. When a C7CT rifle was brandished on deck the workers began to yell to each other in Spanish and take off running. A quick pop-pop-pop from the rifle dealt with the dispatcher in the crane, the foreman and the power transformer over the office. Now had anyone fleeing the scene bothered to look back they would’ve seen several black dots against the blue sky. Ever increasing in relative size the dots revealed themselves to be F17As. Launching their JASSMs they began to level any resistance in the city ranging from tanks to AAs to barracks.

In the twelfth incoming F17A the pilot brought the bird above the city. Opening the bomb bay doors a 1,000 lbs bomb was released. Self correcting it sailed into the window of the local police precinct, exploding with devastating effects. Across the city similar scenes unfolded as other precincts were bombed. City hall was struck with over a 2,000lbs bomb. Government targets, depots, anything that had the slightest subjugation to a Columbia authority, it was all valid within mission parameters.

Meanwhile back at the docks the ships were secured and the infantry had set up a small sand bag defence position and began to roll the M1A1s off the boat.

At the DR encampment the remaining troops had been gathered. They stood some 1500 strong, armed with a vast array of weaponry, new and old. Their uniforms were many and varied, some in grey fatigues, others a drab green matching their surroundings. Some were clad in black with the markings of some country's elite regiment. Before them stood a weathered old man with a gaunt face and an empassioned glare. His voice was raspy but strong and he shouldered an AK despite an injury to his arm, apparently still bleeding. His voice carried with the aid of rudimentary speakers set up in the base.

"This...is our finest hour. Today is the day where we, the Dominion of the Renewed, shall make our most valiant stand. Today is the day we hold back hostile invasion. Today is the day we force back the hand of tyranny. We have received our orders. We are to move with all haste to cover the retreat of the Columbian Junta. It is our duty as defenders of freedom, to protect these brave people as they regroup to fend off these attackers. Today is our day. May we live, fight, and die in the name of freedom."

With his last word a great cheer rose up among the crowd and they began the short march to Covenus.

The docks were secure but it looked like there would be hell to pay on an advance up the street. Motioning to the nearest office building Colonel Jason Kawa spoke into his headset.
“Squad one through five secure that building ASAP. Snipers I want anti-mine ordinance set up on the roof as soon as it’s secure. Ground snipers start hitting the mine layers, minimal casualties shoot once to scare, if they run leave em. I want a tank line formed up now, we’re setting ducks on this dock.” Taking in the info his HUD was giving him via sat link Jason pursed his lips in thought, a motion lost in his full face plate. Linking to the Puissant he continued, “Admiral Aoki the Columbians are starting to fall back to form a defense line.
“I see it.” The unseen admiral replied via microwave.
“I need bombard laid down there, nothing major I just don’t want any forces concentrating on me.”
“Bombard, ETA 30 seconds.” Jason smiled, that would at least keep them unorganized.
“Sir we have the building secure, it appears to be evacuated.” A voice inside Jason’s helmet spoke, the HUD identifying it as belonging to squad commander Levine.
“Good job Levine I want broadcast speakers set up there pronto.” With that a smattering of machine gun fire came from the undisciplined volunteers spraying the side of the tank line. The HUD flashed and Jason knew from the alert that a few of his soldiers had been hit. ‘Whew their body armor took most of that’, bringing up the HUD Jason could see the condition of his subordinate. ‘A few broken ribs, he’s gonnna need time in the infirmary and the armor will need time in the shop.’ Activating his external speaker Jason’s suit boomed in an eerie demonic voice that sound more machine than human.
“El tiro abajo de sus armas y usted no será dañado. La basura y él significarán sus muertes.”

OOC: Loosely translated the above is ‘Throw down your weapons and you will not be harmed. Refuse and it will mean your deaths.’ Don’t blame me blame babelfish if I didn’t get it right.

OOC: Right, Columbia. What’s going to happen is in about 5-8mins that office building is going to be playing a pre recorded message that if the citizens of Columbia throw down their arms and welcome the people of Nova Hope they will be given food, water and medical care. We also promise to end the reign of the drug lords. It then repeats. Just an idea what to include in you post;

-If the skirmishers don’t lay down their arms the tanks will respond with .50-caliber machine gun fire, killing and maiming until the shooting stops.
-Fairly early in your post the fall back line is getting shelled
-Lastly the message, we are trying to technically help these people and my forces are under strict dialogue then if failed return fire orders.

And lastly I’m having fun with this its turning out half decently.

Austar Union: you said you ran up to the trenches and fired a volley at my troops right. Well there in the second trench as you'd have to get past the mine filled trench to get to them.

As the skirmishers spotted the tanks 4 pout their weapons up, another 2 ran but some hardcore soldiers. Grabbed the surrendered troops and opened fire on the tanks and anyone nearby. They only had AK's but they hoped that they would try to not kill the hostages.

Then on the main line a bombardment of shells fell upon the troops. The civilians turned to get out of there trenches. But the troops in the second trench shot anyone who got out. They were here to stay. Although they had suffered 40 casualties they stayed put as the bombardment kept going.

Then as a message came in it basically said. Pepole of Columbia. We are not here to hurt you. Were trying to help you by getting rid off the evil dictators and drug lords that are keeping you in terror. The men shuffled. The army veterans were un-nerved and unsure the civilians were going to give up. One took off his shirt and began waving it. A cornel shot him in the back and he fell. Blood splattering everywhere. Then the regiment flipped they turned there gun's on the cornel. Within minutes they were all surrendering. They walked forward, having left their guns behind when the fanatics turned and tried to stop them. They mobbed the fanatics. And the leader of the group offered to help the nova hope troopers liberate their country.

With that the snipers took aim with their powerful TAC-50s at the hostage takers. There was a brief pause as each sniper took their target and loaded up a hollow point round. Several thunderous reports bellowed out across the office rooftops as the hostage takers were thrown to the ground with massive sized exit wounds in their torso, some with heads taken clean off.
“Get medics over there we have hostages down!” Jason yelled on the airwaves. He knew it was useless though, a fifty cal hollow point round wasn’t something many people recover from. Tactically speaking the men performed well. The HUD was reporting a 93.4% success on shot to kill ratio on that volley. Assessing the situation Jason began to bark orders.
“Anti mine snipers switch to anti ordinance rounds and then start clearing those mines. I want a tank line going down these streets,” Jason indicated on his HUD, which was then transmitted to all pertinent HUDS, “behind the anti-ordinance fire. Avoid civilian casualties I want this city to look half decent on the news tonight.” Jason smiled in his helmet before continuing with an uplink to the Puissant.
“Admiral we have defectors galore but the regulars are opening fire on them. Stop the bombard and send in the Apaches to target officers only.” Switching back to the local comms he continued barking his orders, “Grunts secure some more of those office buildings I want snipers in good perches so the second those grunts kick in the doors to the office buildings I want you up there. Your targets are Columbian enforces and officers, keep em confused an disorganized.” Looking back at the ships men and tanks were still piling off them as fast as they could, then surging forward to carry out the commands he was issuing.
“Get the medical tent set up right here on the wharf, out of the way but accessible we have wounded. And don’t refuse the Columbians make sure they get treatment we are trying to help these people.” Picking two squad captains still on the boat Jason transmitted the following orders to them,
“Set up sand bags and a defensive line around the infirmary.” Switch to the tank frequency he contacted the advancing tank lines.
“Use your main gun as warning shot, see if you can’t disperse them before engaging with the fifty cal. “ Jason grimaced. He didn’t like the thought of an Abrams mowing down a crowd so he needed to do everything he could to avoid it.

OOC: What state is the resistance in CJ? I’m moving in on the assumption that your pretty much fighting in a half dug trench with yourself. The tank line is fanning out to eliminate resistance and secure the downtown. It’s fairly crowded in the docks right now as I’m invading but there isn’t a lot of fighting, in my mind anyways. (as compared to the bloody battle happening in Covenus.)

Covenus

30,000 Austarian troops had surrounded Covenus and apparently had no intention of turning around without a fight. That was fine with the agents. They crashed into the weakest part of the Covenus attack line from behind, catching many off guard as they continued to battle the Junta entrenched in Covenus. The area lit up with the explosions of RPGs and handheld rocket launchers. Hundreds lobbed grenades towards the enemy, shrapnel tearing through the air. The bloodlust could be felt in the air, as the agents let off a few rounds of automatic fire before fixing bayonets and charging into the frey. So viscious was the attack that it just might catch them off guard.

CJ
In the city there was mild résistance, the odd sniper was firing at the tanks, aiming for any commanders or slits to try and kill the crew....

There was a group about 20 of demolition experts, they closed on the port, trying there best to be stealthy and reach the docking areas. The men were only about a hundred yard’s from the port when they were spotted. They pulled up their AK’s and charged, explosives held ready. They were running for the tanks.

OOC: so nova, at the moment, there are the madmen trying to take out your tanks on the docks firing AK’s.And some snipers are ineffectively trying to hit the commanders and crew of your tanks through vision slits and/or open hatches.

The infantry teams were streaming into the buildings, securing them, and then setting up sniper posts a few floors above the street to give them a decent position. Jason was observing the process via the HUD uplink when squad commander Jenkins vitals dropped. Medics immediately ran to the wounded soldier in an effort to resuscitate him but everyone could already see from their HUDs that there was massive hemorrhaging and his heart had stopped, the medics were valiant but not miracle workers.
“Snipers I want them gone now!” Jason barked into his helmet comms as another officer was on the receiving end of a sniper bullet to the chest, breaking ribs and puncturing a lung reported the systems in his suit. More medics were again rushing to him. The Noviet snipers in the buildings took aim against the Columbian snipers and fired their mighty TAC-50s with hollow point rounds. The Columbian snipers were nearly exploding as the entry wounds were so large.
“Keep an eye out for those bastards I don’t want anymore casualties if it can be helped.” It was about this time the Apaches arrived from the carrier group while simultaneously the suicide bombers began running to the docks.
“Apaches engage those bombers on the docks!” With that three apaches slowed their fast approach and began to engage the forces with their M230 30mm guns, mowing down the suicide bombers as their explosives detonated killing some nearby infantry and throwing others against the undamaged tanks, breaking bones and giving concussions.

The other five wings of three apaches each continued to race into the city using M230 machine guns against the snipers on rooftops and using their AGM-114 Hellfire missiles to break up heavy troop concentrations while laying down a sustained M230 barrage.

Covenus

As the Austarians surrounded the city, major explosions had come from the city, particularly the dockyard. Street by street was filled with fighting, and on the outskirts as the Columbians ran toward the Austarian line, the troops pulled back, revealing a barracade of artillery. All at once, the artillery fired into the oncoming masses.

In the meantime, in Covenus missiles continued to rain down upon the enemy. Overhead, fighters and apache's continued to fly around, providing air cover for the Austarian troops.

So far, 60 soldiers had been killed in the battle, and 3 fighters had been shot down...

There were now some 40 000 Austarian troops in Covenus, killing any form of opposition they could see. Anyone with a weapon, and wasnt Austarian would be fired upon. As the resistance in Covenus began to lower by the hour, the teams of troops patrolled the streets, looking for any opposition while the air support continued to patrol.

Through the streets, a message was broadcasted via loudspeaker, "Attention All Columbians! Do not fight us! We now occupy your city! Resistance only means death, surrender means life for you! Do not fight us!"

OOC: Sorry if there are minor details that are incorrect, this has been a tad harder to follow.

The screen opens up to the face of the president, behind his desk with a steaming mug of coffee that sports a popular Columbian brand on the side of the mug.
“Hey there,” the president began with a smile.
“You may have noticed this,” motions to the coffee, “This is grade A fair trade Columbian coffee.” Stops and takes a long sip, “and mmmm its good. Its one of the reasons I wanted to talk to you tonight.” He stood up with the cup and walked around to the front of his desk and then continued leaning back on it.
“The country of Columbia, it’s a sad state of affairs there, drug lords, a reclining oil industry, a civil war and if it don’t just beat all they brew some of the best gad dang coffee you’ll ever taste. So I’ve decided that we need to help these industrious people. Operation White Griffin went through congress yesterday and we are proceeding. Your Prime Minister and I have ordered the liberation of the Columbian city of Tumaco on the Pacific Ocean. We have secured the city, and are beginning to build modern facilities there. We are putting up a cement wall around the entire city, placing defensive turrets, building a very large very modern hospital and we are building a brewery for their,” the president takes another sip of his coffee. “above par coffee. So what I want you people to do is to start buying Columbian coffee, please support our troops. Make their efforts worth something. They can kill the drug wars, stop the drug trade and stabilize the country but only you can keep it that way by *motions to the mug* supporting the soon to be free Columbian people. Good Day and remember, buy Columbian.”

The screen switches to an aerial shot of Tumaco where all signs of the battle have been cleaned up and construction is proceeding under the watchful eye of nearly a thousand M1A1 Abrams. Soldier patrol the streets and snipers occupy the tops of buildings. Gatling guns have been put into the solid turrets of the three story wall, still under construction.
“This is reporter Trisha Tatiana here with Geraldo Iglesias, tell me sir what to you think of the Noviet armed forces occupying your city?”
“Its great! They’ve given us all jobs and credit cards. I walk into the market and there is actual food. I swipe the credit card and then I have food! It’s a miracle free food.”
“I see, and you are aware that you need to pay back any money spent on a credit card right?”
“Oh yea sure, I got a job now though. I’m helping build the hospital.”
“And what are your thoughts on the invasion continuing into Columbia?”
“Man if any of my brothers are watching don’t fight these guys they’re great!”
“And there you have it, Columbia welcomes its liberators.”

Admiral Aoki had just gotten of the line with air command, apparently no one in the armed forces had thought to acquire support aircraft for this mission, there were absolutely no ground support aircraft available. Smooth, I guess I’ll have to keep working until they become available.
“What’s the status of the birds?” the admiral asked referring to the B-2s which had been launched from the homeland.
“They’re in theatre now ETA twenty minutes.” Came the response from one of the men at the equipment ‘wall’. The Admiral sighed, he couldn’t wait until the airport in Tumaco was completed. The delay for heavies was intolerable and he wanted to continue with his operation. But until the airport was completed he’d have to deal with not having it.
“You have the bridge XO.” The XO snapped into a salute and responded with a sharp,
“Sir!” with that the admiral left the bridge for the war room.

Coming into the war room the admiral sat at the head chair and pressed the button making the small computer fold off the tabletop. The admiral reviewed his message one last time before sending it off to the Austar Union’s military command in Columbia. The message read;

“Greetings;

This is Admiral Konyo Aoki aboard the NHSS Puissant. I’m reporting in to respect your authority as leader of general operations. Under my command Noviet troops have secured the city of Tumaco. We are going to be moving along the highway towards our goal, Bogotá. We are proceeding with gathering intelligence on the drug lords so that such a damaging, collaterally speaking, military campaign is not needed. My leaders would prefer that I curtail as many casualties as possible and it is on that note that I ask what intelligence you have gathered on the drug lords other insurgents, which are ultimately the target of this campaign.

I am curious of your progress as we have observed via satellite jungle fighting and we are wondering how you are faring, may we be of assistance to you? I ask because the jungle canopy makes it very difficult to observe specifics. We will attempt to assist you with any objectives you give us, all the while proceeding to Bogotá.”

OT 04 55

The B-2 bombers sailed together over the ocean. They’d just reported in the carrier command and where now over the lush jungles.
“Adjusting altitude to hold 30K ft above deck.”
“Roger.”
“We are breaking off towards target, good luck in Gandelillia.”
“And you in El Diviso.”
“Huh, oh we got a special load for them *chuckle*”
“Roger that.” The pilot smiled at that comment looking back at his own payload. The bomb was marked high pressure and warned of possible health risks. yeah right health risks The bombers separated, each going towards their targets with their ‘special’ loads.

Over Gandelillia and El Diviso, respectively, the bombers opened their bomb bay doors taking targets within the small villages. The bombs fell from the planes swiftly with deadly accuracy. The HUDs in each bomber reported that the bombs were falling on target. The pilot wondered how the mild wind would affect their special load, blowing it off course. At about three hundred feet from the ground the bombs opened up with a loud ‘BOOM’ spreading a large white over the village. The villagers were terrified as the cloud descended upon them, fearing for there lives they watched the odd looking cloud. Having exhausted its payload the B-2 over each village turned and began the return trip to Nova Hope, leaving the villagers with, what they saw to be, the propaganda flyers.

The Flyers read as follows

The Noviet army is coming through here soon and we want to be welcomed. We are bearing food, water and medicine, most importantly though we come to get rid of the drug lords. We are going to secure your village and we ask that you do not fight us because we are helping the Columbian people, we want to make you a strong and rich country.

That would allow me to radio your helicopters as they approach, explain why your coming etc. You notice how I didn't describethe whole battle out myself? That's because I was letting Columbia Junta respond to my advances etc. You have to make some allowances for ppl because this is RP game, meaning I could shoot your choppers down, or turn them around. At the very least however, you would've been escorted because I do have alot of planes on a nearby carrier.

However I might not be the best example because I haven't been RPing the approach of my stealth planes, reason being because I know he has no way to detect them. Were I RPing with his real nation and not this puppet I'd have to be making more allowances.

This is meant to be constructive and not an attack, I apologize if its curt. TG me if you want to actually speak to me more about this. Meanwhile I'd reccomend asking Austar Union if he minds you doing this stuff in his thread.

Another freighter was tying its moorings, preparing to unload. The Columbian dock workers, happy to be paid again, operated the crane as heavy shipping crates were unloaded. With very little guerilla activity in the last few hours the street patrols were increased, military command was worried about the possibility of an insurgency.

Jason Kawa was in the newly established HQ. It was the terminal building of the not yet complete military grade airport. With a runway fifteen kilometres in length to be constructed this was no small task. Both Noviet engineers and Columbians worked diligently putting the asphalt into place. Speaking via satellite uplink with Admiral Konyo Aoki Jason delivered the status report.
“Yessir, the airport is expected to be done OT 15 00.”
“Good, and the construction of the fortifications?”
”They’ll be done in two hours sir. Once they’re completed we’ll begin shipping out. And sir?”
“Yes.”
“I do appreciate the artillery, its being unloaded now, but its not the right tool for the job. We need a ground support plane, something along the lines of the A-10 Thunderbolt.” The admiral sighed and suddenly looked tired.
“We don’t have any.”
“Sir I know that they are tied up but surely we can spare…” The admiral cut him off in a curt voice.
“No, we don’t have ANY. This is a big SNAFU on military command’s part. We are giving the illusion that they are in other theatres because its unfathomable that a military with a budget in excess of five hundred billion credits a year (1 trillion USD) has no ground support aircraft. We’ve placed a discreet order with Credonia along with some more B-2s to hide the urgency of the fact but they haven’t gotten back to us.” Jason was stunned, he couldn’t believe an oversight like this could’ve happened. He stuttered to the admiral,
“Well, wha what about domestics?”
“They’re working on it but you won’t have it available to you for another thirty six hours.”
”Mary mother of god.” Jason said crossing himself. This is insane, they expect me to fight a guerrilla war on foreign territory with no close air support? The Columbians have terrain, locals, supply advantage and time to prepare. What have I got. Jason hardened himself to his own thoughts. Recalling his training he grimaced. I have the power of the NAF (Noviet Armed Forces) and the Dominion backing me. This will get done. The admiral interrupted his thoughts,
“Listen Colonel Kawa,… Jason. This is not going to be easy but these people need a strong helping hand.” Jason nodded, he knew the admiral was right. The Columbian women nearly cried when they started handing out fresh cooking ingredients. The men were so impressed when they finally had a chance to do an honest day’s work for fair pay, rather than having to do shady jobs and pay on the sly for protection. Jason had to laugh, the first pay cheque had men lining up at the terminal to give him his ‘cut’.
“The road to Bogotá will be long and hard but my men and I are up for it sir.”
“Well that’s good because I’m going to insert your brother as the commanding officer for the invasion force in Buenaventura.”
“David, in Buenaventura?” Jason was slightly bewildered. didn’t we blow up the docks there?
“Yes Buenaventura. Your brother will have his work cut out for him. He will have to siege the city without use of a deep water port. He will then have to rebuild the port so we can reinforce him. Once that city is occupied we will construct fortifications around it much like you are doing with Tumaco. He will have the short end of the stick starting out but his insertion is much closer to the capital than yours. I tell ya Jason the bets about which one of you Kawa boys will get there first are already starting to mount. I have fifty credits riding on you boy so don’t fail me.” Jason smiled at the admirals lighter mood.
“Well sir you do realize that Buenaventura has an airfield there already.” The admiral raised an eyebrow.
“We know boy, where do you think the insertion is taking place?” Jason chuckled at that. David will have an interesting time on this one the admiral continued, not allowing Jason to revel in his interior monologue.
“However the dash to the capital is doing to have to wait.”
“Sir?”
“The two of you have a new priority.” A map appeared split screen with the admiral’s face and a file transfer began.
“I’m receiving sir.”
“Good. Highlighted is the agricultural zone from Pasto to Medellin. This is where a lot of Columbian ‘cash crops’ are grown, crops like corn, coffee, rubber and other money makers. The President doesn’t want to be held down in Columbia for an extended period of time, its not good for the polls. Your brother is going to have to secure the northern end of this while you secure the south. This is an order straight from the president Jason he wants this area intact because it’s crucial to his post operation plans.”
“That’s a lot of territory to capture and occupy.”
“I know, you’ll get some more reinforcements to do it. Jason the costs of this campaign are starting to rack up and people are starting to take notice, powerful people. I don’t want to put pressure on you here Jason but you have the opportunity to be a hero or a fall guy here. I know you have what it takes son, do me proud.” With that the admiral ended the communication and Jason was left alone with his thoughts to contemplate his next move.

The only reason I bring it up is because I see your budget at 445.024 billion. Even if you were spending twenty percent of your budget straight milatary that'd come out to be 89.004 billion. So yes you could afford a carrier group, your simply projecting the majority of your milatary.

Sorry, the above sounds very condescending. It's not meant to be.

How are you arriving at these projections? I am using the United States as my base model, and the U.S. has 12 carriers. At this moment, I am assuming Shalrirorchia has five carriers divided into five carrier task forces, each with 2 cruisers, 4 destroyers, six frigates, and two submarines in support of each group.

I also assumed that I was spending roughly 300 billion shalars on the entire military, whereas the U.S. spends roughly 400 billion. And Shalrirorchian military spending is going up.

ooc: shit son no http://members.fortunecity.com/thracetailteann/html/gnp.html is the budget calculater I use. Though there is a new one floating around that is more detailed. I personally like the old standby.

Your GDP per capita is crap. That's what a 'developing' economy is. AKA your a developing nation. See pakistan Iran or India. You are by all acounts a second world nation. Where both Austar Union and I are the highest up the scale one could get with a 'frightening' economy.

ooc: That's http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3328087&highlight=#3328087 for anyone who wants it.

Well CJ do you want to continue this or what? My troops can't in good faith abandon the peopl I've liberated to fall back into the hands of the drug lords,... Nor would it look good on my president. I'd etheir have to press on or ignore this, what do you want to do bud?

BTW Austar Union's forces need to be RPed for evac or considered all dead because they were cut of from HQ.

I'm happy to continue all thought it's a bummer. I'll handle his repulsion.

Columbian news reporter: in a shocking turn of events a large force of columbian tanks counter attacked the AU forces attacking Covenus. In a massive effort losing over 100 tanks every enemy soldier holding covenus was killed. All over the country AU forces went into full retreat while being chased by columbian militants. More on this story later.

ooc: i posted his casulties as he's going isolationist and this shoul'dnt effect him.

OT 13 45 East of Buenaventura

The B-2s had soared around Buenaventura undetected. Running cold and silent at 50,000 feet there was no way anything the Colombians had would pick them up. Out of view from the city they dropped the paratroopers. Free falling from the modified B-2s the men were plentiful to say the least. Should anyone have been able to see them they would’ve blackened the sky with their numbers. At the appropriate height the sky became green with their chutes opening against the blue in a stark contrast. Once every last soldier touched down the leader signaled the command carrier.
“Colonel David Kawa reporting, the boys are down.” With that the men began to crumple their chutes into small bundles and left them there to biodegrade.

OT 23 00 Buenaventura

The men had bid their time quietly in the jungles until the twilight had over taken the city. Now the dark had come to aid in the element of surprise. The city was being slowly surrounded David knew his target, but he wanted as few casualties as possible. The city seemed eerily quiet for its size, the locals must be scared stiff we’re going to bomb them again. Well *chuckle* not too much anyways.
“Advance.” With that single command the pre-assigned teams began to make their way into the levies and the sewer accesses leading into the city. Going underground they didn’t expect to find anyone but they moved with a practiced military posture none the less.

Ooc: Are your sewers guarded? If so give me some info there might be a fire fight. If not, yay easy city enterance.
