ANN Special Report - "Unidentified Foreign Civilian Killed in Capital"
Magna Casa, Aequatio - An unknown, foreign civilian was killed today when he tried to enter the Presidential Grounds by climbing over the security fences along the front edge of the property. The man escaped from police once he had climbed over the fence, however, internal security personnel (consisting of Aequatian Marines) managed to corner the man after a brief foot pursuit.
Once the man had been trapped, the Marines calmly instructed him to lay down on the ground with his hands behind his head, but as soon as the soldiers approached him, he quickly reached into his jacket to take something out. The Marines, startled by this raised their rifles as the man pulled the bladed-object from his jacket. Reacting as he was trained, Sergeant Daniel Thomas opened fire and killed the man instantly. It was later discovered that the object that was pulled from the jacket was a latter opener and a letter simply addressed to the President, Ms. Kate Juno.
No identification was found on the body other than a hotel key and an airline ticket pre-paid for travel anywhere in the world. The letter recovered from the body has been taken to an ordinance disposal unit of the military should it contain an explosive or a deadly nerve agent set to be released at the letter’s opening. Magna Casa Police in co-operation with the Internal Security elements of the Aequatian Armed Forces conducted a raid on the man’s hotel room to find it as normal, save any identification of the unknown foreign national. The man is believed to be a foreign national since his fingerprints, dental records or DNA did not match anything in the Administratum’s records.
The Aequatian government is asking that any nations who can aid in the identification of the man and his motives or intent would be greatly appreciated. Records collected from the corpse can be obtained by requesting it from the Administratum in Magna Casa, Aequatio.
