Protesters Suppressed

Protesters gathered in front of the Palace in Citadel-Of-Revolution, denouncing the Diktat's actions in putting down rebellions. They argued passionately that the resistance did not need to be dealt with using napalm and flechette shells against their cities, and there were widespread calls for popular overthrow or elections.

The first warning to disperse came at 0600. The next one came at 1200, complete with a promise to use force if the crowd did not disperse. Another warning came in a half hour, and warnings were repeated every fifteen minutes until 1800.

That's when the armor moved in.

Half-tracks, armed with flak cannons, moved in first, shelling the crowds with the black shards of metal. The first bodies turned into a bloody clumps on the groun, an arm here, a leg there, and the protesters quickly panicked. There was the steady THWOP-THWOP-THWOP-THWOP of helicopter blades as the gunships moved in, and anyone could see the light tanks, with the Red Star of Kiljaeden, moving in from the roads further back.

There was always a single road left completely open, which people immediately hurried to flee from.

There is no such thing as absolute rights.

These protesters, after having been dispersed, will be allowed amnesty. However, should they continue to voice anti-government opinions, they will be summarily executed.

This announcement is made public to all the people of Kiljaeden.

The armor reaches the front lines of the crowd, the half-tracks moving out of the way. All at once, they launch their smoke grenades, filling the air with the acrid, burning gas. That would make these people RUN.

There should be. No one should be under the authority of someone that they did not choose, either directly and specificaly (An employer), directly and inspecifically (An elected representitive), indirectly and specifically (a middle manager you are placed under) or indirectly and inspecifically (A police officer hired by the government of the elected representitive).

Also, all the above should be accountable on some level to the individual.

The employer has the responsibility to provide safe working conditions, and to keep the company running to ensure that all the employees benefit by means of pay.

The elected representitive by the next election cycle and free speach inbetween.

(OOC: While this represents my view OOC as well, take it as IC.)
The middle manager is accountable to the individual through the employer.

The police officer is accountable to the individual through the elected representitive.

His Holy Majesty's Government deplores these actions, and is willing to grant asylum to any of these citizens who wish to flee to the Holy Empire.

The crowds are dispersed within only an hour, but the troops still patrol the city, looking for troublemakers. Sharpshooters with nonlethal weapons stand ready to nail anyone who starts something, and armor cruises about the streets.

The borders, as always, are closed and watched. Nothing goes in or out without the Diktat knowing about it.

It is announced that any citizens who leave the country without permit will be demanded back, and will face trial.

The Democratic Republic of Antoristan unequivocally condemns the suppression of political dissent. We would like to join the Democratic Arcologies of Feline in its denunciation of such vile acts committed against human beings. The execution of prisoners of conscience will also be considered a horrendous violation of human rights.

Yours in Freedom,
Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Antoristan
