GM's first self-designed fighter. Utilizing a hybrid engine design taking characteristics from both the F/A-22's F-119 and SR-71's J-58 engines, the engines also feature vectorable platypus exhausts, liquid nitrogren cooled water based nozzle cooling system, and the ability to route thrust through downward pointing nozzles for VTOL ability. The Spartan's unique variable geometry wings swing through over 90 degrees of angle, enabling the pilot to take full advantage of the benefits of forward swept, unswept, and swept wings. This, combined with the vectored thrust engines and forward deflectable canards, provides unheard of maneuverability, which, combined with the excellent view the pilot and RIO the large bubble canopy, drooped nose, and low rear section provides, make the GM-01 an incredible dogfighter. The stealthiness of this aircraft with external stores is comparable to that of the F-35 JSF; with no external stores used, the aircraft is nearly invisible to all detection systems.
