Pyorg, Balalaika-Most of Balalaika, a republic within the Socialist Union of Galdania, has been under the control of Raith Mohammed and his band of rural tribesmen for four days following an attack by 600 of Mohammed's horsemen against nearly 5,000 Galdanian soldiers. Somehow, Mohammed's guerrilas managed to rout the Galdanian troops, killing, capturing or wounding almost 700.
Mohammed claimed immediate victory, and revealed his constitution for the new Independant Territory of Balalaika. The new constitution, signed by Mohammed and several Balalaikan tribal leaders, states that Bahlalai will be the new official language for Balalaika (before it was Arabic and Galdanian), and that the government will be made up of a council appointed by the new Chieftan of Balalaika, Raith Mohammed's brother, Tqral.
While only 14% of Balalaikans are official 'Bahlalai Plainsmen', all of those on the new governing council are rural tribesmen from the vast Bahlalai region that makes up most of Balalaika. However, only 16% of Balalaika's population lives in Bahlalai. Most live in the capitol or the cities in the east of Balalaika, in the Tzekimbai region.
Mohammed has stated that there will be no capitol 'city' in the new Balalaikan Territory, but that the Paipan Caravan, a huge nomadic group of horse-drawn wagons, will be the functioning base of operations from the government.
Mohammed says that he favours a 'traditional, nomadic way of life' as opposed to the Galdanian method of urbanization of the Balalaikan area.
Galdania fired artillery into Balalaika for the past three days after withdrawing troops from the region. The Galdanian Central Authority has threatened Mohammed with death if he does not surrender Balalaika.
"Raith Mohammed is holding 15.9 million Balalaikans hostage. He is a madman. He has no way of winning, thankfully, for if he did, it would mean years of hardship for the people of Balalaika" said President of the Galdanian Central Authority, Abu Dihval.
