EFFOC infiltrates Austar Union

Secret IC:

The men waiting in the undergrowth had been preparing for days. Codenames were all biblical, in keeping with the EFFOC doctrine.

'Joseph?'

'Aye?'

'How long now?'

'I make it five. We should prepare.'

The operatives began to distangle themselves from the camoflaged tents. A weeks long observation of the frontier had revealed that the guards, understregnth due to internal problems in Austar Union, followed a reasonbly set pattern. Joseph, the groups leader, had calculated they had a window of approxamatly half an hour of saftey before this strech of the vast border would be observed again. The group was armed, but they were instructed once accross the border to discard them at a safepoint. They were equipped with faked Austar Union Passports, but they were dubious as to their accuracy. They had been assured however, that once accross the border they would be provided with better ones by sympathisers.

Joseph was watching the back of the last frontier guard dissaper over the horizen.

'GO, GO!'

The twenty men made the dash, accross the thin strip of Land which seperated Austar Union from the rest of the world.

Joseph looked back with mixed emotions. He had always known that actually getting into Austar Union would be the simplest part of the operation. Surviving undiscovered however, that would be the greatest challange.......

Still secret IC:

The men, sweaty and nervous stumbled through the thick vegatation that was typical of the border region. Suddenly they froze.

A flashlight was scanning their position. The men froze like rabits in a headlight. The light passed just below their position, and drifted away, and then retreated as it's bearer departed.

ooc: Austar Union, what is the name and location of your nearest major city?
Austar Union

Secret IC: The men, exhausted from their long trek finally came to the outskirkts of Walsester. As it was little on three AM, they had excpected the street's to be deserted. Tonight however, it was differnent. A crowd had gathered at the police station, and Joseph pulled out his field glasses. Placard's could be viewed which bore slogan's such as 'Death to the Regime!' and 'We want democracy, and we won't wait!'.

Joseph turned to his compatriots.

'Right, this is the new plan. We are opponents of the Dictatorship, we travelled from Anatoba because we were being hunted by the old regime. This will give us an excuse to being armed, and we can then will give us an excuse for our faulty passports, we can claim we had to protect our identity. Does everyman understand his mission? Good. Let's introduce ourselves to the locals.'

Joseph and his fellow nineteen conspiritors approached the crowd.

-----One Week Later-----

Already in the Austar Union, a new government had been established, and civil and the rule of law now applied once again. Under the new leadership of President James Madison, the nation was now a democratic, centralist state. Life continued as normal, and citizens were much happier, no longer living under the rulings of the former dictator of Pilot.

Now, it could be compared with the current America, its lifestyle and national structure being virtually the same.

Joseph and his operatives had spent approxamatly a week in Walsester, where the friendly locals had unsuspectingly put them up. They knew that the next stage of operations would be in Anatoba, the capital and industrial heart of the Austar Union.

He gave a short speech to the small crowd which had congregated to bid them farewell.

'My friends! It is with a heavy heart that I leave you today. Our time here was most enjoyable and cordial. We thank you for your hospitality. However both our past and our future lies in Anatoba, we came, and thus we shall return. I can only thank you again for your hospitality.'

They next decided to travel to Anatoba via differn't means of transport. Six of them hired two cars between them, and the other fourteen would travel by rail, staggering their departure times. The tickets had been booked via the internet during the week.

In the meantime, in Anatoba, the National Security Agency had begun discussing to possibility of aliens entering the Republic, during the anarchy period. It was said that border guarding would have been weaker at the time, and that if a terrorist was to enter the nation, that would have been the best time to do it.

Nevertheless, they remained generally unaware of the aliens heading towards Anatoba. It wasnt too uncommon to see some people wandering around as reconstruction continued.

*********Central Station Antoba***********

The train pulled into the station. Two members of the gang were on this train, the rest would arrive over the next two days. The doors opened, and as ticket's had been checked the men walked out into the station.

*********Main Motorway approaching Anatoba********

The hired veichle sped down the motorway. It was unusually quite, one would think that due to the recent turmoil people would be flocking back to the capital. What seemed to be a road block appeared in the distance.......
Austar Union
24-05-2004, 09:58
At the roadblock, some soldiers were joking around harmlessly when they saw a car heading towards them on the horizon. One of the soldiers stood to his feet sighing, and walked onto the road, signalling for the car to stop.

As the car drew closer, he raised his hand.

'Oh s**t'.'

'Stay calm. Are they armed?'

'Yep.'

'Alright, let me do the talking.'

The car slowed and then parked in the hard shoulder. The soldiers came and quickly stood round the car.

'What is your purpose in Anatoba?'

'We are trying to return to our homes sir.'

'Do you have ID?'

The men handed over their faked passports, and waited with baited breath. This was were it could all come unstuck.....
Austar Union
24-05-2004, 10:15
The soldier looked over the passport carefully. He had specific instructions to be on the lookout for fakes.

Three other soldiers came around, and walked around the car, beginning to inspect it for weapons.

The soldier with the passport frowned, and handed it back to the man in the car, "Im afraid that your passport is invalid sir. It seems that whoever signed it to you, had forgotten to stamp this box here... Have you any other forms of identification?"
EFFOC
24-05-2004, 10:19
The man smiled nervously.

'I shall come clean with you sir. These are indeed fakes. Under the previous regime we had to protect our identity. We burned our previous passports because they were incriminating, and sourght false passports in order to flee. In the chaos to the end of the dictatorship, they proved sufficient.'
Austar Union
24-05-2004, 10:27
As the soldiers continued to search over the vehicle, the soldier looked suspisiously at the men inside the car;

"Sir, could you please step out of the vehicle. I want to question you inside."

OOC: Are there any weapons inside the car?
EFFOC
24-05-2004, 10:32
'Certainly officer.'

All three men curiosly stepped out of the car, and addressed the NCO.

ooc: Nope, weapons were left at a safepoint just after crossing the border.

24-05-2004, 10:49
The soldier seperated them all, and began to talk to who looked like the leader of their car-load, "Now, you say that these passports are forged, because you were on the run from the Pilot regime. May I ask why you were running?"

The three men thanked the soldiers, before driving off on the road to Anatoba. Enemy incompetence, it seemed, was their greatest friend.

They now had to meet up with the other operatives. And they knew where.

**********Six Hours Later, In a Central Park of Anatoba************

The leader, Job, looked to the central statue, as instructed. As expected, there was some graffitti on the statue. It read Boyz Entertains Crony's Henchmen. Sensless yes, meaningful, absolutly.
B E N C H. Bench. Job took the lead and sat down upon the facing bench, before casually reaching under it. Sure enough, there was a package. Inside, was the adress (sp).

***********Cell Headquarters***********

Joseph was fairly pleased. They had all arived in Anatoba in one piece, and so far there was no forseable danger of detection either.

'Alright, now before we crossed the border, I gave each of you several items. These are household, non-threatening. Please pool them on the table.'

There was a flurry of activity as pens, pencil sharpners, lighters, and a myriad of other items were produced from pockets, shoes, and various other crevaces.

'Now we had to abonden our weaponry on the border, in order to maintain the security of the operation. However, we cannot enact a serious operation without arms. So we have to be unconventional.'

They watched in amazement as Joseph took five of the items, and with obvious practice behind him, assembled a pistol. The whole process probably took two minutes.

'There are enough parts here to assemble ten pistols, two sub machine guns, twenty grenades of varying quality's, plus ammunition. Now this means that eight of you are going to be without conventional firearms. Now I cannot reveal the full details of the plan, for obvious security reasons. However, I am entrusting Job, my number two, to lead half of you to the other side of town. There you will lead a diversion, something that will occupy the city's security forces long enough. I am sure that you're imagination will come up with something suitable. Now I advise you all to get some sleep, you'll need it.'

*******Outside of an office block, eastern Anatoba********

Group A were ready, outside a random office block. It's insigificance was its significance, that the people of the corrupt industrialised world could not be safe, they could not survive their injustices.

Job, the group leader, chanted under his breath.

'3' The members of the group slid the safety catches off the pistols in their pockets.

'2' They scanned the area for potential targets.

'1' The group acted similtaniously.

The six men with pistols drew their weapons, aiming at the crowd. The people screamed like panicked animals, whilst other stood dumbly, animals caught in a headlight. Job silenced the screams with a burst of machine gun fire into the air.

'Into the building, now.' He growled, acting as menacing as possible. Then again, the SMG did most of that job for him.

The crowd did not move, unsure of their loyalties to country or to power. Job was ready for this. He survayed the crowd for a potential leader, and found him in a male of prehaps thirty, tall, proud and heavily group, the crowd visibly gathered round him for protection. Job gave a nod to a rating, who strode over and summiarly executed him.

As the mans body fell to the ground, any dumb resistance that the crowd may have offered fell into ruins, as the nature of the powerful beings holding them became apparant. Mekely, stuipedly, they obeyed and followed into the building.

Upstairs, ahead of the main party, three men broke into the office. The workers were cowering, having watched the carnage outside. Their resistance, it was noted, had already been broken.

Job did a quick headcount. There were approxamatly thirty five hostages. Excellent, he thourght, this was going better than planned. From a rucksack he produced two cans of spray paint. It was time to deal with the windows, he could not risk sniper involvement. There were two windows in the office, facing the street. With a green spray can he sprayed the letters EFFOC, before coating the background with black. They were completely sealed off from the outside world.

Meanwhile, Ruth, the technician, was rigging up the webcam. It would lead directly to www.effoc.com, and the whole hostage situation would be played out in graphic detail. She also posted under the feed the worlds,

----------Lindom Police Station----------

The day was going as per normal. Police forces were naturally busy with the everyday crime. Usually, it was gang related, and the police were busy at this time. As the day continued, Sergant Terry Fergerson continued to do paperwork at his desk when his phone rang. Picking it up, he greeted the person on the other end, in his usual monotone fashion;

"Lindom Police Station this is Sergant Terry Fergerson. How can I I help you?" he answered as bored as possible.

A voice on the other end breathed heavily into the telephone, sounding desperate, "Need police asap... Some people....hostages.... in the old QE Building..."

Immediatly, Sergant Fergerson sat up in his seat, "Its OK ma'am. Try to relax, where are you?"

The phone cut off before a reply could come. The Sergant looked up, "Hey, get me the director....ASAP!!"

A man ran off into an enclosed office, and the Sergent played the call back on his computer. Halfway through, a tall man rushed up to him, "Whats up Terry?"

Terry played the call again, "Just got this one and a half minutes ago..."

The man listened, and as the call ended, he immediatly picked up the telephone, "Terry, get me a tracer on that call ASAP..."

Pressing one of the speed-dials on the phone, he waited, until the other end picked up, "Jonathon? Im sending you an email right away. Somethings goin on..."

...Five Minutes Later

Around the old QE building, people began to gather as they could see the dead man on the sidewalk. Above them, nobody noticed that blacked out window, or the letters sprayed across it, EFFOC.

As people began to chatter amongst themselves about what was happening, a huge amount of cars screamed around the corner, surrounding the building completly, blocking all exits. In the sky, a helicopter arrived, and began to hover over the scene.

From the lead car, a balding man stepped out, dressed in a suit, which could be compared to the CIA. Walking toward the gathering crowd, he yelled out, "Hey, FIA! (OOC: Federal Intelligence Agency) Can you all please move from the scene. The area is being siezed by FIA under warrent. Thankyou.."[/i]

The crowd looked over and cooporating, they began to disperse, standing behind the barriers established by the agents and police. A police car arrived at the scene, and the balding man walked over, "Hey, dont bother, this is FIA territory now..."

The man in the car looked up, sun glaring in his eyes, "Can I see some ID?"

The balding man pulled his wallet out, flipping it open revealing a special badge, with the FIA emblem emblazed on it, "Special Agent Barry White sir..."

The man in the car frowned, "Very well then sir. Sorry for the inconvenience..."

The police car drove off, and above them, news choppers began to gather... They had recieved orders to stay outside of the limits, and as usual, they complyed. Only once had a news chopper broken the restrictions, and that resulted in massive fines being layed down. SA Barry White looked up as one flew overhead.

Turning, he walked over back to his car, meeting a man there, "Hey, how long since we recieved the message?"

The man checked his watch, "Twelve minutes sir..."

Barry wiped his mouth, "Very good. I want a dump on the situation..."

The man pulled out a large poster sized paper, all rolled up. As he unrolled it, its became apparent that it was the blueprints of the building.

"Well sir, the terrorists appear to be here...", he said pointing on the blueprint, "We are here. And we have all these entrances blocked."

"Good,", replied SA Barry White, "Can I have all the camera's visible please?"

The man smiled, motioning behind him, "Already set up sir..."

Barry turned around, and a massive display of moniters sat there, showing everything inside the building from the view of the security cameras. Over the display, as usual, the large film of clear bullet proof plastic sat protecting the moniters. All around him, agents were running around with their vests on. Now running to their positions, guns pointing at the building entrance.

In the building opposite, snipers began taking position.

Barry turned toward the man, "Hey, there must be a phone inside... Can I be connected?"

The man handed over a telephone, which he sat on top of the car roof. As chief negotiator and head of operation, he had the honors. Picking up the handset, Barry pressed the button on the telephone. As he waited, it began to ring...

Looking down at his watch, he checked the time. It had been 17 Minutes so far...

In the backgroud, Jospeh was spraying in the lenses of the security camera's. When he thourght that was done, he fixed grenade traps in the air vents, should they be kicked in or transversed, the resulting explosion would put the civilians in danger.

Barry White was quick to respond, "Please sir.... Im asking you. Leave these people out of the politics. At least leave the women and children. There are 3 children with you, and 7 women. They have nothing to do with this... Why dont we make a deal, just for temporary measures. You get jail time halved, and you release just the women and children.

Think of the families who miss them already. Think of the bright future these children have. Just think, one of them could be the inventor of the pollution-free car....

Why dont you just allow the women and children to leave?"

"Very good. Plan agreed.", White continued, "First page..."

Barry White began to read a detailed report, outlining on how the fossil fuel emmissions will be cut by half, and how eventually solar and hydroelectric power will become the number one power source in ten years.

It is estimated that there will be no fossil fuel pollution however in a timeframe of 30 years...

He finishes reading Page One.

'Before we continue, I would like you to account for the heart beat detections that we are recieving from the roof.'

Job sat back, imagining the panic on the face of 'Mr White'. He waved over to a rating.

'The fools, did they seriously think that we would fall for the oldest trick in the book? Block up the vents, and take care with the booby traps. Make sure it is not shown on the webcam.'

'That will mean we will have an extremely limited supply of oxygen sir.'

'I have planned for that. We always excpected to die today. This will just secure our objective while achieving our aims.'

Job smiled, they would just have to breathe slower from now on. He picked up the phone.

Barry was shocked. Turning to his closest man, he advises them, "We have no time. Pump the gas.... through the window...."

Instantly, the men on the top of the roof ripped the hoses from the air conditioning, and began to absale down the side of the bulding. Just stopping outside, they found small cracks in the sill, and attached the hoses, fastening them as best as possible...

In the meantime, back at the gas control, a man began pressing buttons and instantly, sleeping gas began to be pumped through the crack. This gas was odourless, colourless, and tasteless. Within a few minutes everyone in the room would be into a deep sleep...

Barry turned into the phone, "Please sir, dont kill the women and children. Be advised that there will be no holding back once a certain number of hostages are killed..."

'The time has elapsed. A hostage has to be executed now.'

On the webcam, a girl of prehaps seven was dragged into view. She was struggling violentry, with tooth and nail. She was crying with a fury born of despair, but the resistance was futile. A brutal kick to the back of the shins brought the girl onto her knees, before she was dispatched with a single shot to the head.

The scene, played out in graphic detail and with a complete absence of sound would be forever the lasting images of this seige.

'Prepare the other women and children'

The ordely's obeyed. Except that something was wrong, the children, placed near the window in order to create maximum damage to snipers accuracy, were dumb, fainting.

In the wall, a hiss could be heard.

'Holy Sh......we're being gassed!

Job knew they had but seconds to act.

Outside of the building, the FIA agents could hear the repetetous crackle of the submachinegun.

Job and the others were dazed, the shooting had done for prehaps half of the hostages, but the others were left amogst the dead, either pretending or stricken with panic. Below, the sounds of the down being broken down could be heard. The SMG clicked in Job's hand, the ammunition spent. He could feel his muscles relaxing, his throught proccesses interupted, he had but seconds before the gas completely overcame him.

'G.....Gr......Grenades.....' he spluttered, his legs betraying him as him collapsed amongst the living and the dead.

His hand reached for the grenade around his neck, twice he missed, his vision completely gone. On the third attempt he found it, and his last memory on earth was the pulling of the pin.

The FIA agents, and Barry White watched in horror as the part hiding the terrorists exploded, killing the agents who were hanging right next to it... Instantly, all of the hostages were killed...

---Two Minutes Later---

(AU) National Broadcasting Corporation: NEWSFLASH!

Just minutes ago, a small section of the old QE building has exploded, after the terrorists gained control of an office, holding some 35 Austarians Hostage.

After negotiations failed, the office exploded, presumingly killing all hostages and all terrorists. The FIA and the Government has refused to comment until a complete investigation was completed. The families of those dead have yet to be contacted.
