A stray shot flew through the door, only just missing a solider as he cowered behind a desk. It had been all too sudden. There had been no warning, no sign that this was going to happen. It was his first day in the military and he was terrified. he had joined just to make his mother proud and now it looked like he was going to die for her too.
Xan, M-16 in hand, was stood up, beside the door. He had taken 2 bullets, one to the soulder and 1 to the leg, but he still stood and, when he felt the enemy were reloading, he would move from his cover and let off some stray rounds, returning into hiding. Two other soldiers were there.
"Is Abbadon out of the building?" Xan shouted through his radio. There was a cracking sound.
"...Yes. We have just got him into a T-X Silvercloud and he is now safe." The voice returned.
"Get back down to 4th floor! We still need assistance!" Xan said, letting off more rounds. Then, he saw the solider and moved behind the desk, "What are you doing, soldier?" Xan asked him.
"...I-I don't w-want to d-die..." He almost wimpered as another bullet shot through the window behind him. Xan sighed.
"You won't die today," Xan told him, "You know something? I was just like you when I first joined the Avatar Guard." The solider looked up to Xan, the man who was the pinicle of honour, the man who was the sole reason he had joined the army.
"...You... you were...?" He said.
"Yes. But I swallowed my fear and buried it deep and now, nothing scares me," He told him, "You see that cupboard over there in the hall?" He said, pointing to it. The man nodded, "...In there is a Redemption shotgun minigun. I'll cover you. Get to that alcove and set it up. Then we can clear this scum from this floor, okay?" The soldier nodded slowly and, with a seocnd, Xan started to lay cover fire, "GO!"
The man started to run, the enemy still in cover form Xan's cover fire. Then, Xan threw a grenade, creating a huge explosion down the hall and a viel of smoke, the enemy now firing blind. The solider took a shot to his arm, but didn't scream, finally making it ti that alcove. Sure enough, there was a Redemption Shotgun Minigun. Frantically he set it up, working as fast as he could.
Just as he was about to fire, he was then shot at, bullet flying everywhere. Then, there was the sound of different types of guns...
"...The Exodus Guard...!" He almost exclaimed. Now, he knew they would be okay. Just then, he got shot in the chest.
He blacked out.
