Scars of War (Allanean War follow-up RP)

OOC: This is a follow-up RP to the Allanean war. Completely freeform, all nations who were in the war are invited in. Allanea, if he decides to participate, might want to pay special attention to the second section... renagade sub captains always make for good stories.

Also, please note that King is just the title of our elected president for life. Roughly the same powers as the US president, just for life, because politics here is so conspriatorial, so machiavellian, and with one year terms on all offices except for Kings and Judges, you need some things constant.

IC:

Somewhere in Arcology I

King Boostei jogged through the halls. This was his morning workout. He thought about problems a lot during this workout. Lately, one very big problem had been on his mind:

Allanea.

He thought to himself, "Why can't those Edolians and Allaneas just shut their imperialist traps up? Each country just wants that godd*mn insignificant strip of land for resources and bragging rights. It's just absurd. And now, those bloody idiots are bombing Allanea cities. Such the devastation must be. We've been bombed before. Arcologies have required extensive repairs that took over a year. I..."

His communicator (OOC: Not cell phone, since there is no need for "cells", but treat it like one) blipped. He positioned the handsfree set he had, flipped down the video monocle, and pressed the button to open the line.

Before his left eye appeared his Prime Minister. "Sir, we have a peace treaty by the Allaneans on your table to sign." "Is it like those treaties which had some nonesense in them that the Edolians would reject outright?" "No, sir. The Edolians helped write it."

The King felt a rush of joy, added to the natural high from exercising. "Excellent. I'll loop right around to sign it. I'm sure the people will ratify it when we put it to referendum tommorow. Feed the news to all the services. Get that new kid Anafai on to announce it."

He jogged in the direction of the lifts, stopping only once to pick up a soy latte at a cafe.

------------------

Somewhere in the Haven Straights

Captain Edward Dano of the F.S. Vigilant, a Tuna class submarine. sat in the chair in the middle of the bridge. Peace had been achieved. He was part of it. He, and the whole crew, were on cloud nine. Suddenly, the communication officer said, "Sir, you have an encrypted transmission from Theater Command. Marked for you only." "I'll take it in my office."

He walked off the bridge, and into his adjoining office. He sat down at his desk. Text flashed across the screen. "My brother? Killed? In Heston City? Why, God? Why?" The captain wept.

After a half hour, his tears turned to anger. "F*cking godd*mn no-good redneck gunowners. They should burn in f*cking h*ll where they bloody came from." he slammed down a picture of his brother, which broke. This crossed it for him.

He went out onto the bridge. "We've recieved new orders. Directly from King Boostei. We are to sail around to the other side of Allanea, and bombard their capital with the railgun, sink any Allanean ship we find, cause as much damage as possible. They won't know its us. Before the treaty is ratified in referendum tommorow, they want to sneak in one ship to do this. We are ordered to ignore all communications telling us to turn back. We will recieve some to try to convince the Allaneans that, if they catch us, that we were acting alone."

The helmsman swung around the ship. "Silent running." said the captain. "Fast as you can on that."

In Port-Allanea

Steven Norton, the brother of Alex Norton, walked the quai of Allanea-port. Now a Sergeant Major of the Ted Nugent Warbiker Brigade, he was somehow depressed. Yes, the war was over. They had won. But the murderer of his brother, Albert Von Tusk, was still free.

Somewhere in the Haven Straights, on a southward heading towards the bottom of the Haven continent bordering on the Democratic Underground

"Sir, we are recieving the fake orders you spoke of now." "Disregard them. They are, indeed, fake."

The Valiant cruised along for a few more hours. "We are rounding Kelanis and Ilek-Vaad now." "Sighting an Allanean cargo ship. It appears to be carrying foodstuffs."

The captain got a vengeful look on his face, and stared at the screen, at the Allanean flag, and the guards with their firearms on the deck. "Arm weapons. Pull up schematics on the relevent class, and target their weakest hull point. Fire torpedo as soon as you are ready."

"Torpedo in the water."

"Switch viewscreen to torpedo camera."

The screen switched. The captain leaned forward in his chair, with a joyful look on her face. The front of the torpedo hit the ship, and a moment later at large plasma explosion ripped through the hull of the Allanean ship. The captain smiled sadistically, and mouthed "Yes!"

The crew was curious of his odd behavior, but having no clue what was in the message, they followed his orders.

"Continue onto Allanea." the captain said smugly.

As Edolian forces continue to re-occupy the parts of Axackal taken by the Allaneans, more and more moon-like territory comes back under the control of the Scarlet Empire. Burned-out farmhouses and levelled forests stretch as far as the eye can see, with Allanean and Edolian derelicts standing like tombstones over the carnage. On some parts of the front, lines of dead Allanean prisoners stretch for kilometers -the result of their penal battalion charges.

The first batch of Allanean prisoners -some 2,000 men- are being released back to their home nation. Loaded into trucks, they are being driven to the border, where they will be given to Allanean authorities.

A service has been created to handle the Axackalis migrating to Allanea. The Axackali Emigration Service has the capacity to deal with the estimated 10,000,000 Axackalis that will choose to emigrate.

In Port-Allanea

John Morris, CEO of the Morris Shipping Corporation , walked into his office. He was still smiling as he hanged his ultra-expensive 1911 Kimber .45 on the wall. He was still happy when the phone ringed.

"What do you mean we lost contact with the ship?"

"We did have a SOS signal, but the sea SAR planes found no wreckage, Sir."

"Oh God. Notify the Army"

Morris slumped in the chair. A veteran of the War of Independence, he knew what this meant.

Near Jondera

"Sir, we are intercepting Allanean military communications. They know the ship has been sunk." "They know we're coming. All the better."

The crew was mystified, but they continued the ship on its renagade voyage.

----------------

In the Office of the King

"What the f*ck?" exclaimed King Boostei. "So you're telling me that the Valiant has gone rogue, and the wiretaps we have on Allanean lines tell us that a ship has been sunk?" "Yes, sir. They've cut off their transponder, so we have no idea where they are. They turned around about thirty minutes after the captain recieved news that his brother had died in Heston City." said High Admiral Richard Davies, the head of the navy. "Should we dispatch ships to try to find and intercept him?"

King Boostei looked at him increduously. "You mean you have not done it yet?" "Umm... no sir."

King Boostei's put his head in his paws. "Oh God, oh God."

"I'll get on the ships, sir."

Boostei called in his press secretary. "Ask the major networks for time, thirty minutes from now. I have a speech to write."

He then called in his Foreign Minister. "Look, Anafai, I know you are new here, but we don't have time to get aquainted. Contact Allanea and inform them of the situation.

THIS IS A PRIVATE DIPLOMATIC COMMUNIQUE.

A submarine of ours, the F.S. Valiant has gone rogue. It is believed to be due to the brother of the captain being killed in the Heston City fighting. We do not know where he is, but we have ships out looking for it. If there is anything further we can do to help capture him and bring him to court martial, please tell us.

Yes, we do, but it is non-functional. Supposedly, they are only supposed to be able to be deactivated from Naval Command, but physical damage to the device would render it non-functional. It is our theory that the device has been destroyed by the crew. It is also our theory that the crew is not culpable in this, but the captain is decieving them somehow. Ergo, authorization to use nuclear depth charge is not granted at this time.
---------------

The Valiant was just entering into Allanean waters. The captain planned to get as close as possible to the shore, in order to be able to devastate more of Allanea. "Sir, there is a luxury yacht above us." "Ready torpedos, fire on my mark." "Now!"

"Torpedo in the water."

Allanean Airforce command

"We lost another ship"

"Hell. Problem is, we don't have any navy worth mentioning after this war. Only thing we can do is recruit any flying craft we have, equip them with the proper electronics, and send them out to look for it."

"Aye Aye Sir."

Do any other means exist to pinpoint it's location? Could we track it by heat signature? Radio transmissions?
Also, what is the basis for your theory?

OOC: Yes and Yes.
Feline
22-05-2004, 18:13
No. Heat emissions are reduced in Feline subs by the drive system we use: waterjets intake at the front, run the water through the double hull we have, and out the back. You would have to be right above it to really get anything. As for radio, it seems to be maintaining radio silence.

As for our theory, it is based on what we know about the time the ship went on this renegade voyage, and the psych profiles of the crew.

---------------------

"Sir, we have detected the Valiant. A lucky random quantum pinger shot hit an object with the compostion of the hull of a Tuna. We won't be able to get to them in time. They've dis-engaged silent running, and they are making a run for it. " said Ensign David Kana, aboard the F.S. Liberty.

"Contact the Allaneans. Maybe they will have better luck. Give them the last known co-ordinates."
-------------

The ship eventually surfaced underneath a large dock in Port Allanea, breaking it to shreads. The railgun popped out of the hull. "Fire upon these co-ordinates." "But sir, these are schools! And hosptials! Not their capitol!" "The order said the other capital, you nimrod."

The crew stood up from their stations. "We invoke our right to violate orders we believe to be unjust."

Dano ran over to a weapons locker, and grabbed a pistol. He quickly killed the bridge crew.

"This is Captain Dano of the Valiant. Die Allanean b*stards! Die with your godd*mn guns! Burn in h*ll for my brother!"

He slammed down on the fire button. The railgun rapidly began firing projectiles into Port Allanea.

--------------

From the Liberty's hull streaked out a single armor piecing missile. It ripped through the barrel of the railgun. "Attention Allaneans. You are free to board the Valiant. The authorization code is five-seven-niner-alpha-delta-charlie-two-two. We are closing as fast as we can. And please, don't touch anything. The ship's log will record any espionage."
-------------

"Captain's log of revenge, who gives a bloody h*ll about the date and time" said Dano. "The Feline Navy has slammed my railgun with a missile. I now have no choice but to overload the quantum reactor and blow my ship to shreads. Quoting in the spirit of mine, quoting from a one soul, from Melville's Ahab, for I secretly always admired him: 'Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale; to the last I grapple with thee; from h*ll’s heart I stab at thee; for hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee. Sink all coffins and all hearses to one common pool! and since neither can be mine, let me then tow to pieces, while still chasing thee, though tied to thee, thou damned whale! Thus, I give up the spear!'"

He used to be an engineer, and he quickly unbalanced the nuclear forces in the quantum reactor. Soon, it would implode, taking the sub and half of Port Allanea with it.

Alarms went off inside the ship. Crew quickly ran off, jumping out hatches left and right.

All the while, the crazed, self-admittedly Ahab like Dano sat on the bridge, sweating with rage, with revenge. He simply muttered over and over again the quote. He dragged himself, exhausted from hate, into his office, where he took out a non-permitted bottle of real alcohol. He dragged himself back to the bridge, chanting the quote all the while."

On board the "Valiant"

The first person to board the Valiant, rushing through a hatch, is a truck driver. History will remember his name as Henry Raks. He rushes through. He meets a terrified (OOC: he should be in such circumstances) Feline soldier and immediately points his shotgun at him.

"STOP! Who ah ya? What's going on?" - he yells with a South-Allanean accent.

After him, another citizen-hero, a software designer known as Geoffry Kahn, enters, dressed like a typical geek, carrying a PALM pilot and a .45 Colt handgun.

Lieutenant Eric Carnai put his hands up in the air, shaking wildly. He was, A, about to die in an incident that may end up sparking a new war, B, if the process was stopped then he would be shot by a gun by some Allanean never to be heard from again.

"I was just following orders! Our captain has gone crazy! That alarm you hear mean the ship is about to implode at the subatomic level and take half the city with it! Hurry, tell people to evacuate. The captain has locked down the bridge, and it will take some sort of explosive to open the door! I'm an engineer, if you can get me onto the bridge, I might be able to stop the Govga effect from taking place!"

The software developer adds, while typing frantically on the Palm, "How long do we have?"

"I was off duty when the captain began the process- I don't know what the status was of the reactor before. We could have anywhere from approximately three minutes to twenty minutes. Follow me this way."

He motioned towards a lift that would take them to the bridge near the center of the ship. "You'll need at least something like a small plastic explosive to breach the door. Do you have something like that?"
Allanea
22-05-2004, 22:15
"Is the locking mechanism electronic?" motion the geek. "If it is, my Palm can handle it. If not, a pal of mine with a .50 cal rifle will be here in a few minutes and just blast through it."
Feline
23-05-2004, 00:56
"Yeah, it's electronic, but it cannot be unlocked except from the bridge. Once the bridge goes into Class I lockdown, the wires going to the access panel on the outside are cut by a robotic arm. It's an easy repair job, once you are out of lockdown. But during lockdown, if you tamper with the mechanism, it'll dump a huge amount of electricity, in this case, into your palm and into you. The locks are all internal, too. I'm not sure if a anti-material rifle will be able to help. It'll blow a hole in it, but not enough for people to climb through."

The two broke out into a run towards the armory. Eric Carnai typed in a code, and a device extended out, and circled itself around his head. "Lip print- confirmed. Tongue Size- confirmed. Primary Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid- Confirmed. Retina Scan- confirmed. Secondary Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid- Confirmed. You may now enter, Lieutenant Eric Alexander Carnai."

"Don't ask about the security. You don't want to know."

They grabbed two small plasma explosive charges, each only about two are three centimeters in diameter. "These should blow it open."

They ran back, hurriedly, to the bridge. Hopefully they would get in there in time to stop the captain.

Just as Eric and the truck driver come back, Nigel and the geekish programmer smile at them, waving an RPG-18 launcher.

"Nigel had to run out and buy it on his credit card."

Nigel sighs :"Don't ask at the weird looks you get when your run into a shop and shout, "I need an anti-tank launcher, and I need it in a hurry".
Feline
29-05-2004, 03:13
"Alright. We don't want to kill the captain, he'll be subject to a big court martial when we get back to Feline. Let's try the explosives from the armory first. But just in case it does not blow the door, ready the RPG launcher."

He placed the explosives on the door. "Stand back, this thing is on a ten second fuse."

They all stepped back, and the explosion occured. It blew a hole in the door large enough for them to climb through.

The captain looked up from his chants, and stood there silent for a moment.

"Quoting again, of Much Ado about Nothing, 'They say the lady is fair. ‘Tis a truth, I can bear them witness. And virtuous—’tis so, I cannot reprove it. And wise, but for loving me. By my troth, it is no addition to her wit—nor no great argument of her folly, for I will be horribly in love with her'"

He paused for a moment, his eyes flowing tears like a waterfall.

"Out of quotes, again, my comrade of Cat, and my foes of guns, Alas, my quest has come to an end. Alas, I am foiled. Alas, the blood of Allanean swine shall not flow through the bullet-ridden streets of their storied port. Thus, I give up the spear!"

He then raised his weapon, and killed one of the Allaneans, before turning the weapon on himself. The captain was dead. Eric Carnai checked both their pulses, and announced these facts, before hurrying to the bridge's engineering terminal.

"Quantum reactor is near critical. The matrix has few possible bonds left, and only one particulate energizer left. The Monfold-Govga radiation is beginning to cease, and the electromagnetic synchronization is, well, not. We've got only one option." he said.

He pressed some buttons, and a wall panel opened on the other side of the room, and on his side. "You pull that one, I'll pull this one."

They rushed to comply. Down in engineering, four shaped charges tore apart the reactor. Flaming hot matter fell down, setting it on fire. Carnai quickly checked the status display of the ship. "We have a hull breach. Engineering is being sealed off and having the air pressure increase to try to ward off the water, but it might not be enough. We need to get out of here now! Go ahead, there are certain procedures I need to do first."

He quickly went into the captain's office, and grabbed all the crytalline memory disks. He quickly dumped the ship's vital files into another crystalline disk. He then took out his utility knife, and went out onto the bridge. He performed the Feline military ceremony for the death of a comrade... despite the captain's actions.

He whispered to the captain, "Going down with the ship, eh, sir?"

He then ran out of the submarine, as fast as possible. "We need to get this ship tied down onto the dock to help it not sink!"

At that time, the Liberty pulled up. "I'm part of the crew of the Valiant. The captain went crazy, and he tried to blow up the ship. I had to activate the emergency dis-engagement explosives to stop the quantum reactor from undergoing the Govga effect. The ship is sinking. We need to get ropes on it to stop it from sinking."

OOC: The quoting of Much Ado about Nothing will make sense soon.

Allanea, I hope you don't mind if I have a spy in your capital. After all, we were at war recently...

Agent Vassili Arkadeyavich of the Hattian Foreign Intelligence service walked through the streets of Port Allanea. He had spent the last few months mastering every aspect of Allanea, the language (Even the accents.), the customs, etc. He was tasked with finding out general intelligence about the country at this time. Vassili began hearing explosions and such. He ran over to the highest point he could find. "What the hell???" he thought as he saw the large sub. "Looks like one of Feline's Tuna classes..."

He saw 2 people climb out of the sub, apparently carrying a body. He pulled out a small radio and turned it on. After waiting for all of the security features activate and when no one was watching, he sent off a message. "Homeworld, Red Rabbit reporting. Possible Feline submarine in Port Allanea. Do not contact..." After concealing the radio he ran over to the 2 men. In his best Allanean accent he said. "What the hell is going on?"

"No, Quantum reactors are free of radiation. The only thing you have to worry about, and the thing that would implode the city, were the devices that slowly suck out the forces that hold the atom together. They have to be carefully contained, or they kind of get out of control."

The Liberty was smaller than the Valiant, but fired a piton into the hull anyway to try to keep it above.

Over a speaker, the captain of the Liberty cried out. "We can't handle it alone! Tie it onto shore, or it will drag us down too! Either that, or we'll have to cut the piton and let the Valiant sink. A Feline class battlecruiser is on the way, it'll be able to pull it out, but it's about an hour away."
