As we progress towards Season III, we are in search of more teams. NSMLB is a fantasy baseball league, inspired by NationStates, which uses a simulator to determine the outcome of games. The Simulator, created by Kisnesia, a member, pits the batters against the pitchers throughout the "game" and delivers a final score. The game is then written up in Baseball Tonight/ESPN form.
Please, if you're interested in Baseball whatsoever, check it out! B)

I too woyuld like to give this a try, but I don't quite understand how it works. I would be happy to join if you would give me a simple overview of what to do.

This is extremely interesting. Tell me how to go about creating a team and I am all for it!

There are two types of teams on NSMLB. Some people, like myself, use all-star teams of their nation or empire. Those who choose to do this should register under their nation's name. Do not put the team name in your registered name.
There are also some like The Gulf States, who are registered as Bardista City, that play as a single team from their league.
Also, you should start working on a logo, a team name, and a 25 man roster. (8 starters, 5 starting pitchers, 5 relievers, 1 closer, 5 bench players, and a DH/6th bench player) You are required to have 25 men. Each team gets 175 points each to distribute to each player and give them a ranking from 1 to 10. You must use all 175 points and you cannot go over.
Register to create a team and start a thread in "The Clubhouse" about your team.
Are these real players or do I just make em up?

Let me add this.
Do not post your points on the forum. Send them to one of the three commissioners via PM.
The Commissioners:
NL - Steel Butterfly
AL - New Genoa
Technical - Kisnesia
Galliam -- you can do either. It is recommended that you use made up players, though, as it adds to the roleplay.

Well...uh...actually you can hold off on your points for the time being...or simply send them to Kisnesia.
And Galliam, we try to stay away from using real players. However, puns like Andy Clemens and Roger Pettitte are excepted on occasion. Mostly, you make up their names.
Sweet, thank you. I've already registered actually. It sounds like fun. I'll get started right away. Yeah, I've even got a logo already.

That's what I meant; before the Season starts when we're ready.
Also, I'm not quite sure how this point system is gonna work out, Imay just be stupid, but I still don't get what is stopping you from making players with perfect abilityies and such. Please help me with this.

The games are simulated by a program made by Kisnesia. The new system implements players and takes into account the each player's abilities and such to determine the score.
What kind of player stats will I be able to uh manipulate.

Ok Galliam, here's how it goes. There's nothing stopping you from making perfect players. 8 times 10 (the highest number you can give a player) is 80, so you'd still have 95 points left. Take your 5 starting pitchers times ten and you get 50, with 45 points left. Unfortunately, you need to have points for your bench and your bullpen. The simulator will give your players a day off, and pull players who are doing bad. It really is rather genious. If your team isn't even, look out.

I have signed up on the forums, created a logo and a roster and Im still waiting on the validation. Just an idea, but I would suggest having a second admin that can validate new members, because when people have to wait like this, it could cause some people to not join. I personally will wait, and I dont really care to, but others may be turned away, so a second admin might help get people in and active in forums.

If we need a second admin, we'll get one, don't worry.
Maybe a guest forum? (where validating and guests can post...) but I don't that would be necessary.

Maybe I'll TG Steel and have him set one of us up as a second admin. I'll have you do it, I'm busy enough with the simulator :)

Thank you - apparently I missed that screen when I was going through the site before.
Next unenlightened question: After browsing through several of the forums on the baseball site, it seemed as though some players had four categories for statistics. My initial understanding was that there was a single category. Which is correct, and if there are four, what are they?
Thanks!

In Season I and Season II, each TEAM got to assign 4 categories of points for the TEAM overall. But in Season III, which is about to start, each PLAYER (team member) gets 1 category (a rating between 1 and 10). I just post the rules on the NSMLB board - read them.

Thanks.
I have read them - but was confused by seeing the four categories listed on some of the posts on the "trading block" thread.

One last question - promise :)
How long should it take to be "validated"? I would like to get my team submitted before the season is to start, but have yet to be able to use either the forum board or the PM feature.
Thanks! :)
