“This is a live report with reporter John Vargas, we’re here at the border between the Navascan border and what is now the Republic –” he tapped his earpiece briefly “– I’m sorry, the Commonwealth of Altamara. For those of you who don’t know, Altamara was taken by a violent coup d’etat only a few days earlier.” The camera zooms in on the border, where numerous roadblocks and barbed-wire barricades have been set up to prevent anyone from entering – or leaving, apparently. The camera then focuses on three armed guards decked out in non-standard military uniform, suggesting that they were some sort of organized militia operating within the state. The guards have their rifles trained on the border barricades, making sure that everything stays as it is.
“Only hours ago, the Navascan government issued a statement, declaring the actions of the ‘renegades’ to be deplorable, horrific and ‘totally antithetical to the republican system of government’ set up by the Navascan constitution. However, no word was given as to whether there would be any forceful military actions.” He peered over the barricade in an attempt to try and see what was going on over there, but the night sky made details indiscernible. “This is John Vargas live at the border, bringing you the news as we get it.”
