Military Ranks of your nation

A thread for those with too much time on their hands :P
My system is based on the US ranks, with Roman-style military organization, which I like because its more regular, ten, hundred, five hundred, one thosand (Though I edited it slightly).
http://s6.invisionfree.com/International_Mall/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=559001
The Naval ranks are based on the US Naval system, with a few modifications to suite space-combat better.
(Notes on Fleet sizes:
A Negotiation, is as I noted, rarely used. Its basicaly a last-defence ultimate force type thing.
A Sector is one quarter of the Galaxy, there are four seperate Sector Fleets, each with divided down the ladder according to the rest of the rankings. Sector fleets are commanded by Sector Admirals, no lower ranks
A System is all the planets orbiting a sun, so a System fleet is assigned to all systems under DGNT control, six at present. System fleets are not usualy part of the Sector Fleet. System Fleets are commanded by Grand or Fleet admirals.
All other groups vary by assignment, but usualy fall within the numbers specified. Any group for more than fifteen capitol ships is assinged an Admiral.
Dontgoneartheres total Capitol Ships (not counting sales, trades and combat lossess): 3,500, this includes capitol class suport ships, mobile-space platforms and Piledriver planetbusters.
Combat ship total: 1,750)

For my army and air force, I use a simplified version of the U.S. system, with some differences:
Private
Private First Class
Corporal
Sergeant
Sergeant First Class
Master Sergeant
Chief Master Sergeant
Lieutenant
Captain
Major
Lt. Colonel
Colonel
Lt. General
Brigadier General
Major General
General
For my navy, the most notable difference is the rank of Commodore. In the Incorporated Sarzonia Navy, it's an official rank above captain and below the flag ranks (the Admirals). There are other differences as well:
Crewman
Crewman First Class
Crewman Second Class
Petty Officer
Petty Officer First Class
Chief Petty Officer
Master Chief Petty Officer
Senior Chief Petty Officer (aka, the Chief Of The Boat)
Ensign
Lt. (jg)
Lt.
Lt. Commander
Commander
Captain
Commodore
Rear Admiral
Vice Admiral
Admiral
The units are taken from the U.S. Civil War era. The ranks come from L. E. Modesitt, Jr.'s Recluce Saga.
(High King*)
(Brigadier-General)
(General)
(Colonel)
Corps: 30,000-45,000 soldiers (Commander)
Division: 15,000 soldiers (Subcommander)
Brigade: 3,000 soldiers (Major)
Regiment: 500 soldiers (Submajor)
(Overcaptain)
Company: 100 soldiers (Captain)
(Undercaptain)
(Lieutenant)
(Sergeant)
Squad: 20 soldiers (Squad Leader)
(Guard)
*Only when High Council declares a state of emergency
Lower ranks may command higher units, and vice versa. Due to the limited size (100,000 at this moment) of Weyr’s High Guard, no unit designations exist above a Corps. Weyrean operational doctrine for (mechanized) infantry is based around the Company.
Tank/air units operate on the squad level in the field, with multiple squads of tanks/helos supporting each other.
The High King only assumes command of the armed forces when the High Council declares a state of emergency.
There is only one Brigadier-General at any time.

Notes
I use a hodgepodge of WWII English, modern American, WWII Hungarian ranks, and a few I thought up on my own. In most cases, I haven't included the specialist ranks. (A Master Able Seaman assigned to the engineering department of a ship isn't a Master Able Seaman. He's an Engineer's Mate 1st Class, for instance, just like a Private in the Engineers isn't a Private, he's a Sapper.) I have, however, included the specialist Air Force Officer's ranks since they are so widely used.
The first rank in the series is the rank for a staff position, where as the second is a flying position. For instance, Colonel Adam Tolwyn is assigned to help the Imperial Kallistian Air Force train along Dominion standards. While he does take every opportunity he can to fly, it's a staff position, so he is called Colonel. Were he to be assigned to a fighter wing, however, his rank would change to Wing Commander, and he would be entitled to wear a different rank device. (Striped epaulettes instead of a collar pin.) He wouldn't have been promoted or demoted - He's still an O-7, but he would be refered to as Wing Commander out of respect to his position as a pilot.

Skeelzanian ranks are largely based off those of the Old-Earth militaries, with enlisted men, NCOs, and officers. The exception is the FS Army and Navy units, who go by their own ranking system.
Skeelzanian Army:
Uses same ranks as the United States Army, though the Private E-2 rank has been dropped, as well as some of the Warrent officer ranks.
Skeelzanian Navy:
Standard naval ranks (seamen->midshipmen->lieutenants->etc). In the SKZN, a Commodore is the commanding captain of a squadron where multiple captains are present and an admiral is not. This is only a temporary rank, lasting as long as the mission. Also, the Supreme Naval Commander bears the title Grand Admiral.
Skeelzanian FS (Principality Guard):

Seargents (various classes)

Ranking is based on length of service among the eligible, and you must meet a certain number of Honors to achieve ranks above Field Commander. Honors are attained based on what Honor it is. For example, the Strategist Honor is appointed to a soldier who devised an ingenius tactic. With the exception of the Soldier Honor, Honors cannot be lost unless permeneantly removed from service beyond redemption.
Recruit- Starting Rank
Field Commander- Longest Service in Unit
Strike Leader- Longest Service in 10 (100 for Infantry) Units (1 Honor)
Legionnarre- Longest Service in Legion (3 Honors)
Force Commander- Longest Service in Force (Infantry, Land Armor, or Air Force. 5 Honors)
High Commander- Longest Service and/or Most Honors in the entire military force.
Strategist- Employment of brilliant strategics causing an occurance that would surpass all expectations.
Warden- Displayed unsurpassed resilience and courage in the face of vastly superior forces.
Hero- Placed oneself at risk to save one or multiple comrades.
Slayer- Proven to be capable beyond the recipient's years in the destruction of the foes of Muktar.
Veteran- Survived an injury that would normally be fatal.
Revenant- Returned to active service after being left for dead.
Soldier- Has fulfilled all orders of superiors, save those which go against the principles and laws of Muktar. This Honor is automatic, but may be revoked.

We use the tai-chu-sho system from Japan...anyway, here are our officer ranks with collar insignia- the ring, spiral, loop system (in silver on black):
Seii-taishogun (Shogun)- Character 'Tei'
Gensui (Field Marshal)- Stylised well frame (resembles a #)
Taisho (General/Admiral)- 3 loops
Chusho (Lt. Gen/Vice admiral)- 2 loops
Shosho (Maj. Gen/Rear admiral)- 1 loop
Taisa (Colonel/captain)- 3 spirals
Chusa (Lt colonel/commander)- 2 spirals
Shosa (major/lt. Commander)- 1 spiral
Taii (captain/lieutenant) - 3 rings
Chui (1st lieutenant/lieutenant JG)- 2 rings
Shoi (2nd lieutenant/ensign)- 1 ring
The Seii-taishogun controls all armed forces in the nation; the rank of gensui is only granted in war.
A taisho commands a rikugun (army), a chusho a gundan (army corps), a shosho a shidan (division) and a taisa a ryudan (brigade).

I know about WRI :PThat was for anyone who want images but don't want to make them.
Anyway, I meant custom-made (or at least somewhat) ones, like mine :P.I have made insignias for ranks from S1 to O3, but I'm redoing the insignia system somewhat so I'm using that as an excuse to not put them online. :D

Notes on Officer ranks
Battle Commander is generally assigned to the senior officer in command of any combined unit (Navy, Army, and Air Force under one command). Such postings are generally temporary.
Fleet Marshall is rarely assigned, and refers to the uniformed officer in command of all Evil Overlord Enterprises military personnel and operations. This is a hazardous post, and few officers have survived achieving this honor. Those few that have are generally advanced out of the uniformed ranks and usually attain high positions within the EOE hierarchy.
