Proposed mass ignore of Sephrioth

In my time here at nationstates, I have seen a number of n00bs come and go. But Sephrioth is not only the worst n00b in NS history, he also won't leave. Rampant godmodding and a lack of grammar and spelling are the main reasons for the ignore. Who agrees on this?

Sephrioth, if you see this and reply, make sure all your words are complete and there are capitals and punctuation in the post.

No, his is far worse than yours. You almost have all those words spelled correctly.

The primary thing is the rampant godmodding, english is a secondary.

OOC: No offence, CorpSac, but I WOULD Ignore you if you tried to RP with me and your posts looked like that.

You're right, there aren't many Nations that can claim 100% spelling and grammar, but typoes aside I reckon there are quite a few (myself included) who can claim 95%+.

This is a free-form RP game, and the ability to express yourself clearly is vitally important.

A friend of mine on another forum described bad spelling, txt spk and l33t as being the written equivalent of a Redneck Accent- no matter how intelligent the speaker actually is, no-one is going to take them seriously at all.

Jeff Foxworthy did a routine on the same subject... track it down and you'll see what I mean...

On these forums, that's considered good spelling.

Personally I feel spelling and format of a post is more about your personal image as a RPer in NationStates, the standard of your formating, spelling and grammar give a first impression of the quality of the RP before it's even read...

I'll admit, it's not fair that people judge our post like this... there are a few people who are excelent RPers (in my opinion) yet their posts are writen in huge blocks of text making it hard to read. If a thread is hard to read then people may not be willing to give it the time... if it's writen poorly they may ignore the content and instead post criticism which never goes down well.

So it's up to the individual to make their post attractive.

Personally I view threads from their title first, does it grab my attention and is it something I'm interested in. If the title is messed up I will probably look at it just in case, probably out of morbid interest to see what it's about anyways...

Then I look at the first post its self, if it's a line long then I generally read it and then most likely ignore it. If it's longer but badly writen I may not read it at all unless the first few lines interest me.

Content is important, but people won't read content if it's hard to read. People don't like too much effort.

Believe me the entire region of The Unforgiven is ignoring Sephrioth after repeated attempts to stay in the region and gain access in ther regional forum.

I ignored Sephiroth after the first day he came, what with his "Planet destroying Guardian Star"

I have been a member of forums for years. Your language use both through spelling and grammar, determines the general impression you present to other members.

Generally, when you first meet someone you take clues about them from their body language. If you don’t believe me think about how you have met someone before and they seemed normal but something about them set off warning lights. Their body language alerted you to something that you didn’t feel comfortable about.

The same thing goes with text. If you cannot present yourself in a manner that seems proper, you will be avoided. This is even more important in text because there is not anything for the reader to fall back upon to change their opinion.

If your meeting seems to be going bad, you can act friendlier, be nicer, or some other method to gain trust with the one you are speaking with. In a forum, there is not any way to change what you have typed (editing the post will not change what the readers are viewing until they refresh their browser) at the moment so you need to get your ideas set into something that is acceptable for the reader.

If you post something that upsets or offends the reader, they will think you are a jerk and ignore you. This is completely separate from role-playing. I am talking about the subject of communication skills. If you are role-playing a “redneck” (using the example presented above), use IC or quotation marks so we know the subject is speaking in character.

If you do this, for God’s sake make sure the rest of the post is written clearly and readable.

One of the forums I was a member (and eventually promoted to Mod status) had someone who could not get this idea through his head no matter how many people tried to tell him. He was ignored and eventually banned by the Mods after he turned disruptive and started attacking the other members OCC. I think he did this because nobody wanted to listen to him. Negative attention was better than no attention.

One of the easiest tools to use is spellchecker. Type out your document in word (or whatever you prefer) and run it through the Spellchecker. They copy/paste it into the post.

Yes, Sephrioth godmods like nothing else. Except maybe FWS now.......

Anyways, in real life, I am very critical of speaking skills. The terms'Same difference' really pisses me off, as does those things from that crappy Chapelle show. Everyone in my school is saying 'Huyeah' and 'Huwhat' and it is bringing down the general intelligence level.

Enough about that.

Just remember that it makes life on the forums easier if you ignore him.

I suggest that FWS be ignored instead.
