The meeting
Dystopian

the night was calm, chillingly calm. It always was in Dystopian, the armed forces moved silently around the whole country at night, noone was aware of their presence at the time, but the whole country was aware of what they did at night..
Dystopian was a naturally cold country, and all that could be seen in the night was the quickly condensing breath of soldiers, gaurds police and other officials.
A huge building towered above all the others, almost cathedral like in its design and archaic beauty.
Inside the building sat a man of diminuitive figure, his short black hair pushed up into short slicked back looking spikes, with the fringe on one side down to his lip. He had dark eyes, very deepset, and added shadow effect was created by subtle eyeliner.
he wore an all black suit, quite formal for the occasion, behind him a fire crackled, illuminating the crimson red room, and casting long shadows of the banquet table, ladened with all the culinary delights the finest Dystopian chefs had prepared
tonight was a night for forging alleigances he though to himself. He arose from the grand chair he had been sitting in,and unsheated his sword.
The sword could be used as a mteaphor for its master, it was thin and delicate looking, yet sharper than the finest diamond edge, and practically as strong, the blade and handle were covered with intricate patterns, a long rose vine entwined its way down, finishing with a devinely carved rose head on the Hilt. The dancing light of the fire and candles gleamed of the sword, sending rays of light across the room at obscure angles as the man waved the sword
He looked over to the walls.. they were decorated so feudally, and any disruption tonight would damage them, he hated to see such beauty destroyed, but deep inside him was an urge to destroy something beautiful.
Soon guests would arrive, itwas an open invitation for anyone in the world to join, and the building was crawling with guards, dressed up increbily formally of course, anbd some in total disguise. Every memebr of the house, staff and tenant was armed, even the orchestra, and the walls were filled with fake panels, concealing elite ninja style troops.
Some may say the owner of the house was paranoid, just like most leaders, but Raine Vice knew diffearnt, he wasnt paranoid, he was cautious, and the deep scar running across his left eye at a slant was proof that caution was wise. The scar made one eye stand out from therest, his skin was plae, but his eyes and hair were dark, well, one of his eyes was. Were the scar caught his eye it was turned into a milky white opal, and for some bizarra reason, was for stronger at night than the other eye. To the untrained eye, it seemed dead, and useless, but it was higly efficient, almost gaining more strength than physically possible somehow, but then again, Dystopians were famed for their strong senses, and it was usually hearing or sight..
Raine sheated his sword, and walked towards the grand front door of the building, he would greet his visitors tonight in person, a personal touch would add strength toany relationships formed tonight

NianNorth knocks confidently on the door.
Handsome yet standing only a little over three feet tall he appears innocuous, which is often the last thought people have about him.
He moves with incredible grace and fluidity, his eyes and hands never still.
He is dressed in loosely fitting cloths and openly carries on his mat black belt a five-inch dagger. Any expert would see the level of craftsmanship was beyond parallel, with little effort going to decoration.
He is always wary and on the look out for an opportunity for personal gain.
Through his twenty years, he has escaped from a variety of prisons, camps and impossible situations.
He arrives tonight with an eye to sell his services in exchange for future protection.

the vast oaken door slowly creaks open, followed by an extended hand
greetings, my name is raine vice, it is nice to see you, congratulations on ebing our first visitor, im sure that our two nations will be ablke to form a powerful and prosperous alliance, i compliment you on our dagger sir, firm and sturdy.. a lot can be said for a man by his choice of weapon.
enter, make yourself at home, soon there shall be others
*raine looks around worridly, but his welcoming expression does not change, his coloured eye does not move, as the opal eye cannot be seen to be moving when it is, he is unevered at the fact his man has no guards.. were they hidden already?*

Nian North takes Raine’s hand and gives it a firm shake, his strength apparently not in keeping with his small stature. ‘My name is Nian North, thank you for inviting me in and may I compliment you on the pleasant surroundings’. He walks confidently into the room. As he enters he scans for possible exit routes, threats and anything valuable that might not be missed until he is long gone.
He walks around the room and talks to servants and staff as is he has known them for years. His easy nature and charm present in inverse proportion to his height.
Over his shoulder he casually remarks ‘If ever you need my services I would love to test your security measures are up to scratch.’ ‘It’s a bit of a preoccupation with the people of my land.’
Part way through this statement and with unsettling ease he moves un noticed closer to Raine, in an attempt to study his reaction more closely.

raine is instantley interested in this man, but his posture and expression doesnt change at all
' defence is very high here, dont beleive your eyes, you see but you do not observe'
at the moment i do not intend to put any of my security at risk , however, feel free to try out some of the training they have to go through
*raine walks towards a door no diferant to the others, and pushges in a code, a small box comes up and raine pushges his scarred eye towards it* with a small bleep of satisfaction the door hisses, and opens.
'if you care to enter?'
'Dryden, watch the door!'
A man very similar to raine has suddenly appeared behind both nian north and raine, he nods silently and walks towards the door of the entrance.

Trying not to change his amiable expression and with practiced ease Nian silently replaces the dagger in it’s sheath. A small drip of fluid lands on the floor and he moves his foot to cover it. Remaining within arms reach of Raine, Nian enters.
‘I have had problems in the past with surprises and jokes.’
‘I tend to react first, then spend hours apologising to friends and family.’
‘A by product of living in my society I’m afraid.’
Although he is as friendly as ever, a professional observer would notice his smile has taken on a more genuine look. These are the sort of people who he could work with and understand the need for caution.
He does however note which eye was required to open the door.

raine turns his head away from the man. most people would think this foolish, to turn away from a man you have only known for a few minutes, but the very bottom of the blade stuck out just above raines scarbard, he couldsee the mans actions prefectly clearly, and due to the dystopian nature, he eyesite was strong enough to make our norths exact facial features, and expressions
Raines concise hearing had allowed him to notice something else about the man, hes breathing was slower, but still faster than it should have been, he could drop a little of the tension, but he woulkd stil stay alert, his gut told him to stay calm though, this was a man he could trust, he felt

Nian continues to walk alongside his host. He notes and points out to Raine items that catch his eye.
After a few minutes of this and as he warms to his host he becomes his usual bold self. He asks if he can take a closer look at items at ceiling height (anything that will allow him to demonstrate the abilities of his people). When permission is given he variously jumps, climbs and makes his way up wall and fixings showing both gymnastic strength and agility.
Where he sees even the smallest chance of weakness in any security measures, he points it out to his host. He makes these comments in a casual and friendly nature, offering compliments about things he is impressed with in equal measure.

A long black limo, unmarked, pulled up in front of the building, follwed by several black 4WDs, also unmarked.
From one of the 4WDs, several figures clad in black, their faces concealed behind faceplates, climbed out and swept the area, coolly, professionally.
One of them opened the back door of the limo, and a figure climbed out.
Tall and slim, with short, straight auburn hair, the figure's pitch-black suit was a marked contrast to his white skin.
He has come on Imperial business, an agenda known only to a select few.
With a nod at the security, the figure climbed the steps to the entrance.

The watch like sensor on Raines wrist beeped at him, flickering, s small screen showed a group of men at the door
'my men will take you on from here', he spoke softly, as unthreateningly as possible, this was not an event for violence, it was for gaining allies.
he walked away from nian north, and turned out of the small hallway leading to one of thre main training facilitys
he feels warm towards north, he seems aimeable and intelligent, and pointed points out with almost concern or a country that isnt his own, only the finest and most cultured men would take north around the training facility
As Raine reaches the door he notices Dryden has already greeted his new visitors

"Mr. Dryden, I presume?" The black-clad Macisikani asked politely.
Dryden nodded, wondering how the Macisikani knew who he was.
"I am Baron Tierce deRenci, special envoy from His Holy Majesty's Government. These are my aides."
An aide was whispering urgently in Raine's ear as he approached the Baron and his escort.
"No-one knows much about these people. The Rotovians have had the most contact, and it hasn't gone well for them. What we do know about the Macisikani is this: they are a neutral state - in fact they're almost fanatical about it; they set a great deal in store by politeness; have rigid standards of propriety; and can take great offence without warning at nearly any comment. This guy is a Baron, a peer, so address him as "my lord", never "Mr deRenci" and never by his first name unless he asks you to. You can call him "your lordship". He'll probably call you "my lord" unless you give him another honorific. The Macisikani are also a Holy Empire; their level of devotion varies rapidly, but it would be a good idea to find out how devout Baron deRenci is.
"Sir, the short and long of it is that the Macisikani culture is just similar enough to ours for us to easily understand, but just different enough to cause problems."
Raine nodded slowly. Great. The second envoy, and he had to have "cultural differences"
"Sir, one last thing," the aide was sweating; he'd left the worst news until last, "...um, I've seen the Macisikani economic stats... and... their defence budget is more than triple our national one..."
Raine smiled... if he handled this right...

'greetings, my lord'
Raine greets the newcomer with a formal oriental style bow. It is a great honor to have a man such as yourself here with us tonight
oozing charm he leads the baron towards the table, gesturing towrds the austentatious amounts of food and fine cutlery, the shadows caused by the flickering candle light danced, and the reflections from the candlebras gave a certain energy.
'Sit werever it please you my lord, may i suggest this end of the table? Its far away enough from the orchestra not to be deafened, yet you are still within a pleasing audible distance'
Also feel free to wander around for a while, inspect the grounds, talk to other envoys and delegates, breif my guards if you wish, you will find them of the highest calibre and politeness, they have been trained to always refer to any person as 'my lord', even if told not to. They are devout to their nation, they will sooner die than break any of their morals, i trust that they shall be a most wonderful impression of my country'

Baron deRenci smiled. He's overdoing it a tad, the Baron thought but I cannot fault his manners.
"Thank you, my lord. It is a great pleasure to be here. I trust that we will be able to come to an understanding that will benefit both our nations." deRenci had an accent, hard to describe, but it sounded Russian.
{deRenci's eyes take in the displays of food, rove over the guards, and critically examine the room itself.}
"I see that you have spared no expense; this is a fine display, and I believe it reflects your nation. Rich and prosperous." the Baron turned back to Raine. "If you will, my lord, I will remain here for now. I believe that there may be another arriving soon." He smiled again.
{the Baron gestures urgently to one of his attendants, who whispers in the ear of one of Raine's aides, who relays the message to Raine}
Ah, sir, the Baron will not sit until you do; you are the host and this is your nation; he thinks that it would be very rude of him if he sat before you did.
Raine nodded, filing away that little detail for future reference.
The Baron's body language was indicating that things were going well... very well...
A motorcade looking remarkably like the Macisikan one pulls up to the front of the building. This time no gaurds sweep the area, the driver of the limo gets out and opens the door.
A tanned young women dressed in long flowing tartan skirts, whit blouse, and black jacket and carrying no obvious weapons steps out. She looks around, examining her surroundings with an analytical eye, looking for something amiss.
Finding nothing out of the ordinary, the women resettles her skirts and moves off up the steps.

Nian accepts the tour with grace. He asks his guide about his duties and is shows interest in all he says. Where the guide appears to be better versed or more interested in a subject Nian shares that enthusiasm and let the talk stay on that topic as long as the guide likes.
He tries out the training facilities where possible. The guide will note he is what would be called a good shot rather than an exceptional one, however his speed of reaction and agility are somewhat unsettling. Nian appears to relish physical challenges and any hands on close in training.
When he is directed back to the main room he asks if he can freshen up a little first. Giving him the chance to look at other parts of the complex. When he returns to the main room he is fresh alter and back to his charming harmless self.

Raine is walking calmly towards the door, tonight appears to be going well for him
Upon seeing his new guest he grins to himself, tonight was going to make him lots of new friends, he hoped at least
'welcome, come in' he said with a bow
He knew practically nothing about this woman, but the tartan caught his eye, almost as much as the fact she seemed totally unarmed

the guards with niannorth were in awe, they had to be fast and agile, but this man was amazing. It must have taken him years of training, and a hell of a lot of natural skill to be this way.. but they couldnt let their guard down, after all, they were guards, but the general feeling among them is this was a man they could learn from.
When he requested to leave, they felt dissapointed, but still, this was not a day for training, and they let him out of the training facility
Soror Claria, the only daughter of Rateous Cheif of Cheifs, the only women to have been given such a powerful position, returned the bow with a perfect curtsy.
The Claria, being the only child of the leader of Thearas was being primed to take over upon his death. She had been educated under Thearas's ministers for defence and external affairs; it was soon decided that the young woman needed to be taught to lead by influential women; it was then that she had been sent to Macisikan. There she was aide to Deputy Minister Justina Valdir, Minister Katerin Palir, and Premier Elgiva Vattyen. She had become wilful and strong minded lacking the deference to men breed into Thearan women.
Claria obviously looked the man up and down… taking in his eye, clothing, manner, and finally the sword.
“My father has sent me to attend this meeting as his ears, his eyes, and his authority. “ She said in a slightly accented, but pleasantly deep voice.
I hope that dispensed with protocol, she thought . Claria's Thearan soul wished for the frank and open nature of her home land, she still found fancy words and hidden meaning slightly offensive.

'My sources have indicated taht you are close to the macisikan, as you probably already know, their most honoured leader is already amoung us, please feel free to walk the grounds and talk to any of the guests or guards, however, youll find many of the guards have been instructed not to talk, and some are totally mute'
Raine watched the Claria walk of to inspect the grounds, and turned the other way
he rose the communicator band on his wriust to his mouth, and began to softly speak into it
'General Harvik, are we to be expecting anymore gifts before his lordship shows up?'
the intercom crackled
