"Good evening loyal subjects of the Holy Empire and fellow servants of our God and Father.
Tonight, I come to announce my decision on a coherent foriegn policy in our world today.
First off, during my father's rule, the empire gained a $76 billion foreign debt. This debt was caused by corruption within the beuracracy. Those who were involved have been found and arrested. Today I ordered the first payment on that debt and I am pleased that the debt has been reduced by $13 billion to 63 billion.
It is my intention to continue my father's policy of religious tolerance even though this is an officially christian nation and I am sworn to defend its position as the only true faith. As National Bishop Winters said a year ago, a christian faith that is forced by laws or decrees in not christianity at all, but false christianity. I believe in free will and that God intended people to have the right to make their own decisions in matters of faith.
However, I remind all living in the Empire that ours is a christian nation whose laws are based on those of the Bible. Those who choose to live in our nation voluntarily choose to abide by Biblical law.
Unfortunately, there are those who would use religious tolerance as a defense for committing serious crimes including rape and child molestations. For this reason, the government has increased spending on law enforcement to over 330 billion. I have just imposed the death penalty for rape by imperial decree. Further, anyone who desecrates a church, temple, mosque or any other religious property will be punished by death by firing squad. Further, those who engage in antisemitism will soon also be eligible for the death penalty. We must remember that the founder of our faith and his followers were jewish and the much we christians have in common with the jews.
Many studies have shown that high levels of education reduce crime and improve a nations financial and national security prospects. Hence, spending on our nations public schools has also been increased by several billion.
Of late, there have been many wars. We were fortunate enough that we were never dragged into any of them but rather opened our doors to the refugees of those conflicts. But today, many of those wars are over and the nations involved are struggling to recover and rebuild. In many areas of the world national governments are having problems funding education and healthcare for their own people. Therefore, I have established a fund of over 158 billion to used exclusively for assisting our fellow nations when they need it.
Nuclears weapons are being used at alarming rates. Many nations these days don't remember the nuclear holocausts of yesteryear. The radiation from these wars brings harm even to neutral nations like Canales who have never even been in a war but whose people become victims of the war nonetheless, due to reckless use of nuclear weaponry. Therefore, I have pledged 1 billion in foreign assistance funds to support a conference on the use of nuclear weapons being hosted by Daylam.
I have also ordered our own nuclear weapons inspected and upgraded so as to prevent accidents.
As defender of the Christian faith, Canales will go to war against all who illegally attack other religions for their christian faith and we open our doors to all christians fleeing religious persecution. Those nations hostile to christianity but who will not allow their christians to leave, now will face diplomatic pressure from the Canales govt to let them go.
Because national defense eats up so much of our budget, I am sending emissaries to our neighbors to begin talks on permanent peace treaties.
Indeed, I have begun appointing ambassadors who will soon be traveling around the world on errands of peace and brotherhood.
I will be making changes to this foreign policy in the future as the situation may dictate.
