The 3rd UTA Exploration / Colonization fleet departed for the gamma Quadrant earlier today the fleet had departed for the Mark of the Gamma Quadrant .. The colnizeation fleet jumped out of slip stream drive and began to cross the border .. the first sytem they were going to explore was G-115 right on the border.

The Ravanos Class Heavy cruiser King Tiger glided through space, advancing under sublight-engines toward a medium-sized asteroid on the far side of the system. As the cruiser approached, tight-beam transmissions began flying back and forth between the ship and the Skeelzanian supply post on the asteroid.

The King Tiger was not an official Skeelzanian vessel, she is officially a “privateer”, or pirate as they are commonly known. Letters of Marque (LoMs) are licenses issued to these ships, allowing them to use Principality bases (discreetly) in their raids on neighbor’s shipping lanes. Hailing from the autonomous station Far Tortuga, Targier is arguably the best pirate captain in living memory, which is why he was granted the CorpSac-built cruiser.

Two hours later, the King Tiger was fully stocked with stores and ammunition. Pulling away from the Supply Depot, she prepared to engage her hyperspace engines.

One of the disadvantages of having a Letter of Marque was that your ship could be temporarily commandeered by any Skeelzanian officer.

Targier sighed. “Roger #425, coordinates received. Preparing cross-system hyperspace jump.” The lucrative trade lanes would have to wait. After a 15 second leap through hyperspace, the King Tiger emerged on the far side of G-115, just in time to watch the UTA fleet finished its exit from slipstream.

The small UTA fleet conisting of 20 colny ships 10 Expler vessals ,5 soyuz class vessals , 2 galxay class vessals 4 constuion class vessals and 10 constuction ships. Moves in to the sytem rather quickly .

Klaxons began to blare throughout the cruiser, rousting sleeping crewmen from thier bunks and sending marines to the armory. Lord Targier continued to bark out orders. "Bring all weapons on-line, shields directed forward! Mr. Gorsky, bring us up to full speed. We shall fly through the enemy fleet, and do as much damage as we can. On the approach all fire will be directed into the forward ship; after that has been passed cannons will fire independently, torpedoes will continue to fire at first avaiable ship."

OCC: Tortugan vessels are very heavily armed for their size, and have a nasty habit of ambushing ships at border stations. Combine this with the ability to cram ungodly amounts of marines into their ships make them formidable raiders. Fortunately, the lack of state-of-the-art vessels (the King Tiger is the only known Ravanos in the sector) keep the rate of attacks low.

IC: Targier watched as the Constitutions lumbered into position, smiling grimly to himself. Maybe the turrets wouldn't get to fire afterall. As the King Tiger entered into firing-range, he gave a new order: "All turrets, target the connecting coloumn and disc of the leading Constituion. Continue firing until I give the order to switch targets."

Ion cannon, plasma, and railgun slugs streaked out from the King Tiger, reaching thier target within seconds. Unfortunatly, the barrage scrambled the King Tiger's sensors, so it could not asses the damage. Nevertheless, her weapons continued to fire as they closed for torpedo attack.

The King Tiger burst through the UTA fleet, its large size helping it to shrug off enemy fire. Nevertheless, armor was weakening at various points, and its weapon systems were under fire. A Soyuz loomed infront of the King Tiger, which didn't even bother to slow down as is banked sharpley, all weapons firing madly at the bridge.

As the cruiser exited on opposite side of the fleet, Targier ordered a sharp bank to starboard. Skirting the edge of enemy torpedo fire, his ship opened up with another cannon salvo on same Constitution (which you didn't post stats for, btw). The PDS kicked into overdrive as it engaged incoming torpedos; a missile barrage was launched at the enemy flagship.

Overall, Targier thought the battle was going splendily. 'If only the armor stood up to torpedo strikes better...' A tremendous jolt shook the ship. 'Speak of the devil.' "Leuitenant, damage report."

"Enemy torpedo volley got through, sir! One of the Railguns and two torpedo launchers have been knocked out; 79 dead at last report, sir!"

"Get engineering on it immediatly! I want those weap-" the bridge lurched as another torpedo struck home. "Where the hell is the point-defense?!"

OCC: No, don't have any IM services.

IC: In an instant, the Borg Buster Cannon impacted the King Tiger's shield. For a little more than a second, the shield held up against the two beams, but it was never designed to withstand that much concentrated firepower. The generators sparked, blinked once, and then the whole shield came crashing down.

The remaining energy burned its way through the armored hull and into the main reactor station. One the three onboard reactors, one was completely annihilated and a second knocked out of commision. Most of the energy weapon fire came to a halt, as the single remaining reactor was switched over to running life support.

Targier stared at the screen, his eyes focused on the gaping hole through his ship. "Navigation, can we enter hyperspace with a through-and-through beam impact?"

"For a short period yes, sir."

There was no hope of them fighting an entire fleet on only one reactor, they had to retreat. "Very well. Plot jump-course for Mahon II, begin jump when ready."

Launching a final missile salvo at the Federal flagship, the King Tiger disappered into hyperspace.

as the other ships moved back in to convoy postions.

A cloud of smoke hung over the table, the small ventilation fan coping as best it could. Deep within the Royal Palace, the Skeelzanian War Room was a small, tension-filled space, dominated by vid-screens, currently showing the strategic situation in and around G-115.

Crushing out his cigarette, Dmitri Skeelzot leaned towards the hologram floating before him. On board the docked King Tiger, Targier involuntarily leaned backward; talking with FS agents was bad enough, but the Grand Prince of Skeelzania just made him feel damn uncomfortable. "We thank you for your report, Captain. Hopefully your repairs at Mahon are going smoothly. I would suggest you remain there, and await our response."

"Yes m'lord." Targier saluted as best he could, and clicked off the holo-comm. Letting out a sigh of relief, his attention turned to the repairs on his ship.

Back on Solomon, Dmitri leaned back in his chair and looked over the other occupants. His uncle Ianos was seated to his left, concentrating on a wall map. The rest were either Admirals or Paladins, depending on whether they were Navy or FS. “What our piratical friend tells us is true. Listening post #425 has been monitoring the Federal ships since the King Tiger was chased off. They appear to be building a colony, and reinforcements are arriving. This is an infringement on space claimed by the Principality, and we can obviously not let it go on unchallenged. What would you esteemed gentlemen advise?”

A FS Paladin (roughly equal to General rank) straightened in his chair. “The Combined-Fleet can reach G-115 within 12 hours on Hyperdrive from the Spoot Star. I would advise using all available force and crushing them while they are still weak.”

Ianos gave a dismissive grunt. “We cannot risk open warfare with the Federal Union. They may be blundering bureaucrats, but their navy isn’t something to mock. Even it did come down to the wire, I wouldn’t place bets on either Arenumberg or Bandalok providing aid. No-” he paused, taking a long draw on his cigarette, “we must do this subtly. My esteemed Prince, I would advise contacting the Union through diplomatic channels, stating our position. As the same time, call up every mercenary between Cadiz and Far Tortuga, promise them rewards, and above all organize them. We cannot have 5 dozen lone-wolf raiders jumping in and getting obliterated. Use them against the intruders, along with several unmarked ships of our own. Four new Ravanos have arrived from CorpSac, who also has extensive experience fighting the Federal Union. Use these to drive him out, not something overtly Skeelzanian, such as a Skeelzot.

Many of the admirals murmured their consent, while the Paladins (never ones for subtlety) where somewhat dissatisfied. No matter, they would obey the Prince’s command. “Very well, we shall implement my Uncle’s plan. I want agents on every pirate rock along the border, get as many fleets under our control as possible. Contact the Foreign Minister as well, get emissaries sent out. Meeting is adjourned.”

Shuttles rocketed between the planet surface and the fleet currently orbiting the Skeelzanian homeworld. Ammunition, fuel, rations, all were being loaded into the Combined-Fleet ships at a furious pace. Reports of further Federal moves were already coming in, and Grand Admiral Ianos wanted the Fleet ready to jump within 48 hours. "Status report, Admiral."

The Station-Admiral saluted and called up the report. "All Principality ships currently avaiable:

"No, we cannot lose any more time. Get some more suits up to the Skeelzots, they can hold eight if my memory serves."

"At once, m'lord." The Admiral rushed off; Ianos turned back to watching the assembling Fleet.

The skies above Mahon were host to the largest pirate fleet ever assembled. From the native gunboats to the heavy cruisers from Far Tortuga and Cadiz, raider vessels of all kinds were in orbit. Bidding wars never before witnessed were taking place on the surface, as the pirate lords tried to get the best torpedos they could.

In outer orbit, Lord Targier watched more and more ships exit Hyperspace from the bridge of the newly repaired King Tiger. In addition to replacing the damaged reactors, more substantial shielding had been added. Glancing at the por viewscreen, he looked over the four other Ravanos. It was common knowledge among the pirate captains that these were Skeelzanian men-of-war, sent to keep them in line. No matter, their weapons would come in handy.

A crewmen advanced, producing a situation report. Targier scanned it over breifly:
3 Wraith Class Battlecruisers, 12 Core Class Gunboats, 5 Ravanos Class Heavy Cruisers (including his beloved King Tiger), 6 Fenrir Class Cruisers, and 24 Garm Class Gunboats were all currently orbiting Mahon. Although the Feddies were moving in more reinforcements, they would be stretched out protecting their colonies. Targier was sure that him and the boys could get in and out fast enough.

The pirates and their FS backup, by now dubbed the "Blackstar Fleet", vanished from the physical plane, dipping into hyperspace. Twenty minutes later they reappered in a system being exploited by the Verboten. A wide-scan showed that the system was undefended, though a Verboten fleet was closing fast. The lead Skeelzanian Ravanos, Spear of Solomon, flashed orders to the mass of warships aft.

Blackstar Fleet, system is undefended. However, a Verboten Battlefleet is closing in, ETA unknown. Civilian targets appear to be a small mining colony. Possible indigenous species planetside. All class III vessels engage civilian vessels; capture anything that looks lucrative. Class II vessels are to begin planetary bombardment of industry and population centers.

Upon contact and force evaluation of Verboten fleet, orders to either engage or withdraw will be given.

The mercenary vessels flashed their 'acknowledge' codes, and flew forward in an unorganized swarm. The nimble Garms were the first to open fire, their Surt cannons tracing fire on the hull of any ship in orbit. Behind them, the slower cruisers began target-aquiring, searching out concentrated buildings on the planet surface.

"Another intruder?"

"Yes, my Prince. The 'Verboten Lufftewaffe', they are apprently allied with the Federal Union. They already have nearly 30 bases in the quadrant, and are expanding almost as fast as the Union. To make matters worse, they are entering negotiations with the subhums; God knows what horror stories the subhums will tell them."

A junior officer rushed up to the Grand Prince, interuppting his breifing. Handing him a report readout, he saluted and retreated. Dmitri slowly read the report, his face showing no expression. "It seems our so-called "Blackstar Fleet" is already moving against the Verbotens. Jumped from The Den to the nearest system under their control, attacking anything they can. Good for them." Placing the report on the desk, he leaned towards his staff. "But with the up-coming action agaunst the Federal Union, we can't fight them as well. Begin diplomatic signals, present them with a friendly Skeelzania. Let the Tortugans fight them."

A chorus of "Yes my Prince" responded.

Several ships had already blinked into hyperspeed, and the four other Ravanos were breaking off. "What the the hell are they playing at? Nav, get us to the Den on the double!"

Power was diverted from the weapons to the hyperdrive, the King Tiger making her jump just as another corvette fell victim to one of the VL Guardians.

Anyhoo, ships that didn't ejump out: 10 Garms, 4 Core class gunboats, 1 Wraith Class Battlecruiser, 2 Fenrir cruisers

IC:30 seconds after the abrupt departure of half the Blackstar Fleet, the remaining pirates received a second nasty surprise. Erupting from Hyperspace, the Skeelzanian Combined-Fleet appeared in the system. While most of the Fleet had exited with the Blackstars between the planet, Grand Admiral Ianos had commanded the Dmitri and Ianos Skeelzot ships to exit right in the midst of the pirate fleet.

Appearing in a classic line-of-battle formation, the two monster ships let loose with a rolling broadside of thier Surt energy lances. The remaining Wraith battlecruiser caught two direct hits along its hull, erupting in a ball of fire and molten metal. A Core was cut clean in half by a beam, which continued on and destroyed a Garm. And all the while, the numerous railgun turrets were pouring death into the remaining Blackstars.

From the bridge of the Ianos, the ship's namesake watched the panorama of death and destruction unfold before him with grim satisfaction. Considering most of these ships had been bought with Skeelzanian baskz, it was a heavy financial blow to the Principality, but a necessary one. the DESC Crow'Da a Super Mothership class moved though hyperspace, Admiral Valkyrie sat on the bridge, around him was the 9th 12th and 16th Battlefleets and the 8th and the 7th carrier fleets.

2 Ravanos Cruisers borke away from the Armada and exited hyperspace at 2 of the 12 UTA systems. they each exited near the sun with out warning fired the torpedos into the sun, one even fired a Blackhole Torpedo corseing the suns to Explded or calpase apon them sleves they jumped out as soon as the Torpedos left there tubes.

OOC: TFU, slow down, you are going entirely too fast. You can't freaking skip the months/years of time needed to build a starship, or the industrialization of a planet that is inherantly needed to do such a thing - and assume that nothing happens during that time. Skeelzania would be sending diplomats or indirectly using pirate ships to prevent or welcome such an act.
I recommend going back to having a few starting colonies - left in the wake of that large colonization fleet.

And for the love of all that's holy, use a spell check once in a while!

OCC: If I were you CorpSac, I would of disabled any IFF signals coming off of those ships before your little sun-detonations. Pirate vessels don't operate with those usually, and since you know the pirates sure as hell didn't buy any Ravanos from you, you could of easily framed me. Oh well.

Commodore Van Cleef was understandibly pleased with himself. He had brilliantly executed his part of "Operation Judas", eliminating many of the rogue privateers and allowing his commanders to "save" a Verboten colony in the process. When the Grand Admiral contacted him via-vidscreen, he was expecting a congradulations.

"What the HELL is going on over their Van Cleef! Two UTA systems go supernova, supernovas started by RAVANOS ships; now Arenumberg is saying CorpSac did it, they deny it, and to top it all off TFU has declared war on CorpSac!"

Van cleef was visibily taken aback. "But sir, my ships haven't left the Den since the conclusion of Operation Judas! Whoever blew up those suns, it sure as hell wasn't us. We don't even HAVE Nova torpedos!"

Ianos was silent for a moment. "I suppose you are correct. Perhaps I was to hasty. You are hereby ordered to resupply and remain at your current position. Await further orders."

The Vidscreen blinked off, leaving Van Cleef to ponder the situation in silence.

OOC: How? It sounds to me that since these two attackers had no markings, the only thing you know is that they used CorpSac nova torpedoes on the stars. And since Skeelzania uses the same ship designs as Corpsac, you have every IC reason to assume that it was the pirates.

If you wish to continue upon your "I know they were CorpSac ships!" course, than please explain how you know. Otherwise, I might just have to "jump to defend a fellow IM storeowner who is being attacked by the corrupt and warmongering UTA."

Those systems that were destroyed...Were they in the Gamma Qaudrant?...If so loss of life would be in the 1,000's...not millions....not way in hell to logically moved untold millions to a new colony planet...hell my colonies are just starting up...I'm lucky if i have maybe 5,000 at each...to start

OOC: The Pirate ships have markings of Sorts, i know they cant get their hands on the torpedoes, plus, I have pretty god damn good sensor's, this is "my place" and particle displacement and such would tell where they came from, plus, all ships have IFF or anyone would shoot at them.

I've created and OCC thread for this, if you haven't given up already. Hopefully we can sort out what went wrong and why, and hopefully fix it.
