*Newscast covering the launch of the IJN Tartaros.
"There's been a real buzz today concerning the launch of the new Tartaros class battleship. This new WIGcraft brings new meaning to the phrase "aerial battleship" being eqipped with 12 14" cannon, mounted on 4 triple gunned turrets. Along with numerous other weaponry and anti aircraft guns, the rather un-battleshiplike ability to fly OVER land (as long as it's flat) this should make fleet deployment a whole lot quicker.
The specifications released by the government of Jordaxia, Phoenixius, and the New Empire are as follows:

Silly me. Yes. But it has battleship guns, and it may as well be a battleship. Except it flies, at 5, and a bit above metres.

The beauty of WIG craft. Its effectively a boat, that uses the air that is compressed below the wing to lift it out of the water - this allows it to travel faster.

Yup. it's quite ambitious, and a bit of a monster, but it sure should be effective to the nth degree.

Looks really good, Jordaxia. On the five that you are giving us can you add some standard anti-ship missile VLSs? We will pay for the changes of course.

Oh, go on then. Somehow I think That a little bit more can be put on these. Ships should be with you in 2ns years. (Not quite got the shipyards fully functioning on Tartaros yet.)

In other news, the Jordaxian public, in response to the first few buyers (and bumpy for more, even though we are top page) have launched a demand for 9 more Tartaros class Ekranoplans. The military have quickly aquiesced to the demand, and several Scylla shipyards have been put to work on them. The military has also promised a little extra onboard the original Tartaros, and may recall the nine, when they are released, if the testing on the IJN Tartaros is succesful. more at midnight, this is JNC, wishing you a good night.
The new ships will be launched in 3ns years. Future Tartaros construction will be faster, as Scylla shipyards become more proficient at constructing them.

How vulnerable is it? I know that all those jet engines look pretty exposed.

We may be back later, depending if we need a modernish craft like this one.

Its speed is its armour. Part of the reason so many engines are used however, is so that if one is knocked out, only 1/20th of its capacity is reduced. This design is subject to change, when we get a firm idea of what it can do. Firepower may go up, down, side to side if necessary. Personally I think it is a little unburdened, which is why I am refitting the original IJN Tartaros to see what I can do with it. There are several anti missiles systems involved in this, and its main advantage in a fight would be to take out opposing big guns. It is slightly at a relative disadvantage against littler ships. It should still take them out, but not as well comparatively, as those bigger than it. (mainly because main guns on a battleship can take a while to turn from broadside to broadside. By simply sailing around it using superior manouverability, we can pound it, and stay out of its reach. Naturally, this advantage would be negated if there were several battleships, which is why several Tartaros class would be used as a counter.

Also, what battleship can arrive in battle at 400mph? From the land if necessary? Not many.
