PRESS RELEASE--The Citadel of the Five Civilized Nations--May 14, 2004

Today, the Emperor of the Star Realms of the Five Civilized Nations, Undisputable Lord of the Black Watch, Ruler of the Varied Colonies of the Swordmasters of Ginaz, House Ecaz, The Lost Atreides, and The Blood Elves, has decided to eliminate all of the Five Civilized Nations's ground-based nuclear weapons. The Emperor believes that with this decision, the Five Civilized Nations can act as a role model for the eventual destruction of all nuclear weapons throughout the world.

This decision incorporates the elimination of all Five Civilized Nations’s missile silos, the deactivation and the destruction of 8,890 Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles with three to twenty warheads with yields of 50 megatons to 200 megatons, 11,039 Intermediate Ballistic Missiles with two warheads with yields of 50 megatons, and 4,231 Short Range Strike Missiles with a warhead with yields of 25 megatons.

The elimination of 24,160 missiles tipped with nuclear warheads allows the elimination of 67 bases built and maintained to house the nuclear weapons.

The cost savings from the elimination of missiles and the bases has been calculated to equal some US$129 billion per year.

In addition, the Five Civilized Nations has decided to eliminate plans for a futurized version of the Star Wars project, which would have incorporated state-of-the-art laser technology. With this elimination, the Five Civilized Nations saves a further US$11 billion per year.

However, the Five Civilized Nations will be far from unprotected from any nuclear assaults by its enemies. The Five Civilized Nations will continue to maintain its massive fleet of ballistic and guided missile submarines and its armed satellites carrying missiles. These weapons will remain as a deterrent to any assault by another nation.

Credonia applauds 5CN's attempt to limit nuclear proliferation and to destroy all land based nuclear weapons. May 5CN and Credonia provide a positive example for all of the world to show and to lead efforts towards global nuclear nonproliferation.

Perhaps we could host some kind of forum together to talk with other national leaders about the proliferation of WMD's and to try to reduce the numbers globally.

United Elias also congratulates your nation on its bold step towards disarmament and we to would be willing to enter into strategic arms limitation talks.

Euroslavia also congratulates 5CN in its decision to eliminate its nuclear weapons, especially a respectable nation as you. Hopefully, your disarmament will set an example for others that powerful nations do not need these type of weapons to be seen as a major power.

The Empire of the Eternal Dawn congratulates the 5CN on their decision to eliminate their ground-based nuclear capacity, and encourages nuclear disarmament as whole. As we have never developed nuclear capacity due to ethical concerns, we wholly back any peaceful effort to remove nuclear capability from as many states as are willing.

The Grand Duchy of Monte Ozarka applauds the actions of Five Civilized Nations. We are committed to nuclear non-aggression, but in order to protect ourselves, we are forced to keep a small arsenal (15) of nuclear warheads, which we hope never to use.

The Omzian MND (Ministry of National Defence) Foreign Relations Department and the Omzian Foreign Ministry applauds the decision to dismantle all ground-based nuclear capabilities of their nation by the Five Civilized Nations. Not only this will set a role model showing other nations that nuclear weapons must be avoided in such era and timeline, but also contributes much to a world-wide dismantling of nuclear weapons.

As to our own experience, not only our complete dismantle of ground-based and space-based nuclear weapons had brought us to a new era in the prevention of nuclear weapons, but it also definately had saved us a large amount of money, allowing us to work on other innovative defence programs, which can also give us -- and any other nation, who follow such example set up by the 5CN -- a leading edge in possible conventional conflicts.

Today, the August Emperor of the Five Civilized Nations, Leto Crusade, proposes the complete elimination of ground-based nuclear capability of all nations throughout the world. On May 14th, the Five Civilized Nations has already eliminated its ground-based nuclear capability.

In a statement released by the August Emperor, he proposed that the nations of the world join the Five Civilized Nations and transform the world into a more peaceful place.

While the Imperium greatly respects the courage it takes for 5CN to eliminate ground-based nuclear weapons from its arsenal, the Imperium will not be joining 5CN in doing so. The Imperium has less than 400 ballistic missiles in its entire arsenal and the great majority of our nuclear weapons are of the tactical, air- and sea-launched variety. As the Imperium sees it, we have only what is necessary to deter a nuclear assault and nothing more.

The Commonality of Everlasting Light urges the international community to follow in the footsteps of 5CN and join those states which have eliminated their nuclear warhead stockpiles. We never truly aimed to develop nuclear arms in the first place, but today, despite our nuclear capabilities, we do not stockpile nuclear arms for planetary usage.

We also urge states to discontinue and abandon national defence systems solely designed to counteract nuclear weapon delivery systems. We do have a defence grid, but it is designed to defend against as many threats as possible. The true purpose of the anti-nuclear defence system is to enable the builder to use nuclear weapons against those states that do not have such systems at lesser risk - there can be no other honest reason.

They are strategic non-conventional weapons, therefore, as they pave the way for the use of weapons of mass destruction. They, too, ought to be scrapped - or altered to defend primarily against conventional weapons.

As we do not use nuclear weapons and never have, there can be no claim that we are attempting to gain a strategic advantage by pushing for nuclear disarmament - we note that all non-nuclear powers who can defend against nuclear weapons but who call for disarmament ought to be recognized for what they are: honest people striving for a better future for all.

No you may not. On May 14, 2004, the Five Civilized Nations annilihated its entire arsenal of ground-based nuclear weaponry. There are no nuclear missiles or warheads for you to purchase.

The Empire of Balrogga applauds Five Civilized Nations for their giant step. We profusely hope many other nations take their example to heart.

The Empire of Balrogga never developed nuclear weapons. We looked around at the other nations who were busy trying to blow each other up and decided the future did not lay in that direction. Instead we used the trillions and trillions of budget allowances to develop our space program. Thanks to that insight, we have extensive holding through out the system and are about to begin a search for other worlds to colonize.

Hopefully other nations can put down their nuclear arsenal and join us in the true future.
