Genocide in Fasta Benj (open modern tech RP)

OOC: This documents a Dyelli Beybian invasion of Fasta Benj (recently deleted through innactivity).
Fasta Benj, as a Province of Klatch had fallen into anarchy since the death of Tzar Henry in a fleet action against the Dyelli Beybian Socialist fleet in what had become known as the Battle of the Djel Delta. However, up until now some vestige of Government had remained and the Dyellians had stood back , biding their time, but now the Government had completely imploded, and it was Dyelli Beybi's turn for revenge.
Finally the true purpose of the troop movements along the border was revealed. The ever poorly-organised Benjian Armies, now weakened by infighting, gave little resistance in the North against the SS units that lead the spearhead. The Dyellian tanks, Followed the invasion route of '66 nearly exactly, within the day the first armoured vehicles swung toward's Tek'n'Brik, where all those years ago the Dyelli Beybian armoured columns had ground to a halt.
Meanwhile in the South, more columns swept across the border, pouring into Christchurch, the ever contentious border city, street to street fighting errupted as Grenadiers swamped the city. The Socialists in the South were taking no prisoners as far as Benjian soldiers went, one section even going as far as to crucify several prisoners on the wayside. Many of the troops had been in Bath when the Benjians has broken through the layers of fortifications, capturing the Western bank, and to these men it was time for revenge. Buildings were torched, women raped and children murdered. As resistance became more scattered all order seemed to break down in the Coastal city as the Wehrmacht engaged itself in an orgy of destruction.
But what had happened over Fasta Benj city itself was most incredible, here the Dyellians had struck first and with the most ferocity, hitting the city with wave after wave of bombers. The central city had errected over it a vast concrete dome to shelter the inhabitants from nuclear radiation should another war like that of '66 occur. The Dyelians had turned it into a death trap, raining bombs onto it until it collapsed, buring thousands under the rubble. They had followed with incendiary bombs, turning the sections outside the dome into an inferno. In some areas Sarin had also been dropped, choking the streets with bodies which would be burned to a crisp as the flames roared onwards.
The Government in Cyro remained stoically silent as her army raised hell.

Thousands of Schultzpolizei soldiers from the 7th Armed Korps, renowned for their efficiency, ruthlessness, and strategic brilliance, poured into the borders of Fanta Benj, followed by construction trucks and a few assault vehicles.
The first death camp had been assembled outside of Fasta Benj's largest city. The Schultzpolizei poured into the city, entering apartment complexes with attack dogs. The soldiers rounded up all Benjans they saw. Those who refused to come with the soldiers were shot.
Over 300 Fasta Benj citizens were already in the camp. Executions by shooting were performed every hour. As there was a constant flow of citizens to the camps, executions were becoming more frequent, and much larger.
Over 900 citizens had already been killed in the camp.
As usual for all military exercises from North Germania, Feldmarshal First Class Rudolf Küll led the invasion. Four more death camps were being assembled in and around the city. Resistance had been little to moderate. 25 SP soldiers had died during firefights with Fasta Benj militant groups.
The 4th Panzer Korps had been mobilized and was en route to Fasta Benj.

"Sir the Dyellians are at it again."
"Well let them have their fun, it is hardely our concern. I think that a no stance policy is best after the mutiny incident. Dont you? The last thing I want is to have more Jiggady troops moving across the boarder."
"Yes General."
"In fact Major, pass word along to them that Vladislov "The Hun" Minch would enjoy taking some prisoners off their hands for his own pleasures. Im sure that bastard isnt having enough fun running his prison."
"Yes General."
General Claudius Maximus leaned back in the chair of his personal office at the base. "Well I cant wait for the international backlash over this one. 'Insane assylum of the world' to be sure."

Footage sent back to the Reichschancellor for approval showed young Fasta Benjan men building what appeared to be another death camp. Armed guards were nearby, some with attack dogs.
The film shows a young Benjan man running from the camp. The guards release two dogs which chase him down. The guards laugh for several minutes as the dogs attack, before pulling them off the man and shooting him.
The footage switched to the death camp outside of the largest Fasta Benj city. Piles of charred bodies were being piled into a large pit, which was apparently dug by more Benjan civilians, forced into slave labor.
The Schultzpolizei were now chaining civilians together, 10 at a time, soaking them in gasoline and setting them on fire with flame throwers. Blood was splattered against the walls from countless shootings.
The death count in that camp was now up to 1,215.
Most of the bodies had been carried out by truck and dumped into mass graves, dug outside of the city.
Word from the capitol of North Germania was that certain key generals of the Reichswehr were hoping to team up with the Dyellian Wehrmacht to increase the rate of "clearing" of the city.
North Germania

Reichschancellor Einheit had expected the international community to be outraged by the acts of the Reichswehr of North Germania and the Wehrmacht of Dyelli Beybi.
Thus, he had issued a statement to the Kriegsmarine, Lüftwaffe, and Reichswehr that they all be put on full alert.
Large divisions of the Kriegsmarine were put on alert, and waited in the waters of the Klatchian Sea ready for any invasion attempt.
In addition to the 4th Panzer Korps' presence in Fasta Benj, the 1st and 2nd Armed Korps Divisions had been moved in as well.
Following their movement, the 9th Panzer Korps moved in.
Over 80,000 soldiers and 360 tanks were spread out around the death camp sites and in the cities of Fasta Benj. News from generals of all the Korpss stated that the Reichswehr had been especially "irritated" with any of those who resisted capture. Incidents of brief torture, followed by execution were very frequent in the cities.
It was rumored that the ESPK, the black ops of North Germania, were hunting down high members of the Fasta Benj army, and political leaders for either capture or assassination.

In Christchurch, a leading Benjian local body politician was dragged into the offices of a Cheka agent assigned to the invasion force, he had been badly beaten by the soldiers before being tossed unceremoniously into the room, "Please have a seat." the agent spoke, seemingly unperterbed by the bedragled man who was on his carpet.
The man looked at him cautiously before sitting down in one of the plush leather chairs, "Drink?" the agent asked, filling himself a glass of brandy from the decanter on the large oak sideboard.
"I don't drink with Dyellians." the Benjian spat, then shrank back as the agent turned around.
"Come now." the agent repremanded the man lightly, "It seems we have a problem."
The man looked at him blankly, waiting for the agent to continue. The agent turned, and walked back behind his desk, also oak, seating himself before filling the man in, "You see, our soldiers were angry after Bath...very angry, but as a whole I think things are dying down a little."
The Benjian nodded slowly, things had been, the rape and pillage had been brought under control by the influx of Cheka opperatives. Their mere prescence seemed to ensure the troops were on their best behaviour.
"Now, in the west of the country the North Germanians are wiping you lot out. They're going to kill every last one of you, and we're not really in any position to stop them...however, we are willing to offer you an option for the Eastern strip, from Tek'n'Brik to Christchurch."
He paused, the Benjian nodded again, "What is it?"
"Your country is in Chaos, your armies are no longer in any position to defend you, but we are. What we want you to do is go out into the streets, with your colleagues and publically support us."
In response the Benjian spat on the carpet, the agent turned his lip up, "Don't be disgusting." he sounded a little angry this time, "I'm going to be blunt with you, you will support us, and we'll make you and your colleagues powerful men, or you can chose to opose us...then the Cheka will leave the city and the army will finish you lot off...and don't think they can't completely depopulate a town, because as God is my witness they can and they will."
Silence filled the room for nearly a minute. The Cheka agent sipped at his brandy while the Benjian studied him, "What's your proposition?"
"'Eastern Benjia' will join the Republic as our third County, after the Djel Valley and New Dyelli. You will remain a semi-autonomous state, as is New Dyelli, but you will pay taxes to the Government in Cyro."
Another long pause.
"I'll need some time to think about it."
The agent nodded enthusiastically, "Be my guest."
Vrakian Corridor
It would seem that southern Vrak is always on high alert, at least in comparison to the rest of the country. Not that the high brass are overly worried about it – since Vrak’s military strength rested on its ground prowess – rather than naval or airforce might. Fasta Benj and Dyelli Beybi have always been in turmoil and this course of events was predicted by some analysts. Some smiles were also discerned among some top generals and admirals. How do the new arrivals in the Klatch like their home? Still, it never hurts to take precautions. Besides, it helps to have a large buffer state for any oceanic invasion that might come from the South Klatchian Sea. Keeping Dyelli Beyvi intact in whatever form only helps the good of the Klatch.
The closest airbase began to send up rotating shifts of A 50 Mainstay SDRLOs in addition to diverting some satellite coverage to concentrate specifically on Fasta Benj. But to intervene or even send in small recon/intel teams was ruled out – since it wasn’t a priority at this time. However, a careful might note some extra heavy equipment being shipped along the recently constructed rail links to the southernmost bases.
The Commonwealth will be the first to offically denounce these acts of genocide and imperialism. We insist that your forces withdraw from Fasta Benj and allow a force of international peacekeepers to restore order. An economic embargo will be placed on Dyelli Beybi and North Germania.

Official Statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
It has been suggested that 'International Peacekeepers' be allowed to set foot on Klatchian soil. Dyelli Beybi finds this suggestion amusing. Dyelli Beybi can handle it's own internal affairs and Fasta Benj is still regarded as a rogue province. Dyelli Beybi wishes to express it's disdain for an economic embargo put forward by one Nation, and suggests kindly that it would be more beneficial to the Nation of Granzi that it sell portions of it's Coastline to the Kriegsmarine forces of Dyelli Beybi and North Germania for use as military bases.

Meanwhile out at sea, the Dyelli Beybians were busy, clusters of escorted minelayers sweeping along the newly claimed stretch of coast dropping huge numbers of captive torpedo mines into the water. The treacherous Dyelli Beybian minefield was growing.

Inside Camp Anschloss, outside of the largest Benjan city, the death count was growing, and the executions were becoming even more brutal...
Homosexuals were tagged with pink paint.
Inside the camp...
Two guards were yelling at four pink-covered men.
"Tanz Sie mit ihm!" one yelled.
One of the Benjians began to dance with another man dressed in pink, while another NG guard chained their feet and hands together.
"Tanz! Tanz!", the guards screamed, while they laughed. The men were in terrible shape, with sprained ankles and broken ribs. Not long after they began dancing, one fell to the ground while the other told him to get up. A North Germanian guard became irritated, walked over, stood the man up and slapped him. The two men were then doused with kerosene, as they danced, while a soldier armed with a flamethrower lit them ablaze.
"Ja, ja! Tanz Sie mit ihm!"
The two men were shot and thrown into one of the many mass graves.
An English-speaking Schultzpolizei Lieutenant was talking to a captured Fasta Benj general.
"You know the eastern province of Fasta Benj will shortly belong entirely to Germania, yes?"
"How do you know that? You Germanian scum are too savage and barbaric to hold Fasta Benj down."
"I do not see how you could believe that, Herr General. As you can see, hundreds of your people die in this camp every day. I hope you do not also think that this is the only camp. There are 6 more in operation performing the same tasks. This camp alone has killed over 4,000 Benjians. Clearing out your cities and towns is as easy as the Lüftwaffe bombing a straw bunker full of Communists."
"It will never happen."
"Don't be so confident. Into your quarters with you. Now."
___________________________________________________
In an official release to the nations threatening sanctions against Dyelli Beybi and North Germania, the Reichschancellor has warned strongly against any such foolish act. Instead, you should ally yourselves with us! There is no sense going to war over something which does not involve you. Becoming our allies, and allowing us to build military bases in your countries would be far wiser.
Along the Vrak/EvilPsychoticGuy border
The jungle lands of the ruined province of EvilPsychoticGuy was thick with undergrowth and inhabited by all manner of beasts, most notably the homosexual monkey – a mad biological experimental/bioweapon gone astray. But, the plan was now being executedp if Vrak was to claim half the land ceded to it by the FKC Parliament. Also, the encroachment upon Fasta Benj had some military planners worried. After all, if Dyelli Beybi took over that province, would it do the same from its portion?
The outskirts of the desolate province was mapped using a variety of survey techniques, involving satellites and aerial reconnaissance. Now, two whole divisions began their foray into the jungle. Each squad had at least one fireteam armed with flamethrowers. Accompanying the infantry were not only their regular logistical support but also several engineering companies that were busy erecting shelters, communication posts, roads and other manner of defenses. Also, each division had a full strength battalion of TOS-1 Buratinos, to clear out swaths of the forest in case the worrisome monkey was spotted. Someone did suggest dropping massive amounts of fuel air bombs but it was deemed unnecessary and costly. Alternatively, setting the entire jungle ablaze was deemed too risky.
Besides, any recovered items, especially the labs that concocted the homosexual monkey would be highly rewarding…and profitable.

Somewhat further South in the area of EvilPsychoticGuy now known as New Dyelli
The troops in this area were locals. Rather than the field grey or sand colours of the Dyelli Beybians in Dyelli Beybi itself, these men were dressed in Khaki brown with what in most countries would be called "Tommy Helmets". Racially they were different as well, while Dyelli Beybians were mostly Caucasian, these men were definantely Asian. While the main body of the country was far from under control, the regional Government in Desagradável was steadily growing in power, and had quite a sizeable army at it's disposal, although it was somewhat lacking in vehicles. Dyelli Beybi, in keeping with it's usual mistrust of foreigners, had began to build fortresses along the border, although the line would probably never grow to the strength of the Artois line bordering what had once been the Vrakian Cooridoor before the two states were divided between the Klatchian Powers.
In one such fortress, some alarmed officers were gathering, a staff-Corporal stamped his heels together, "General Park!" he announced as a slighly greying man entered the room, followed closely by an officer dressed in the same khaki brown, but with blue piping on his hat, marking him as Cheka.
"At ease men." the General said.
His subordinates offered him slight bows, waiting for the General to seat himself before following suite. The only man who did not seat himself was the Cheka officer, who moved to stand by the door with his hands behind his back, "I am sure you all know what this is about....but just to refresh us, could you please go over the situation again, Colonel Lee."
The Colonel nodded, "Yes, General....after the death of our wretched Emperor and our partition into the Communist South, watched over by Dyelli Beybi, and the Capitolist North, overseen by Vrak, we have regularly sent forrays into the North to see how our Northern neighbours are getting on, sadly they have fared significantly worse than us....but I digress, one of our surveillance teams reports Vrakians on the move, lots of them, and heading towards our portion of the country."
General Park nodded, "This will not be tolerated. If they cross the border, we will make them pay, we do not have the machinery to fight an open war, but the jungles here will work to our advantage." he nodded in satisfaction, "We will strike a bitter blow to the heart of Capitolism."
"General." it was a young Captain in the corner of the room, "Should we not inform Cyro of what is occuring and ask for more vehicles perhaps?"
"No." It was the Cheka agent who fielded it, "Cyro is too pacifist, they would not sanction any move against the Vrakians, but if we are to reunite all of our once proud Nation under the glorious rule of the proleteriate, we must defeat the Capitolists here and now. Viva la lucha!"
"Viva la lucha!" the Officers all agreed.
--------------------------------------
Peace had settled over the crescent of land now known as Eastern Benjia. The SS units which had been responsible for the worst atrocities had been withdrawn, while food, aid and money were coming the other way. The Government in Cyro seemed very determined to try to apease the people of the invaded territory, meanwhile in Christchurch, a city always noted for it's Dyelli Beybian sub-culture, weapons were also being delivered to an emerging pro-Cyro militia.
All atrocities had ceased, while the Cheka propaganda machine was taking pains to point out they had not in the portions of the country not under control from Cyro, with all forms of media bombarded, but in particular via the tried and tested method of street posters...
"Dyelli Beybi and Fasta Benj have had a long history of friendship, and while this latest, terrible war has seen many foul deeds be committed, we hasten to point out that Dyelli Beybian soldiers in this city are helping to restore order, and bring prosperity back to the region. Dyelli Beybi wishes to offer to the people of Eastern Benjia the offer of Union, much as the people of South-Western EvilPsychoticGuy enjoy. We pray then that you, the concerned people of Eastern Fasta Benj, vote for Unification in the upcoming referendum.
A vote for referendum is a vote for order and a return to a proud Benjia. At the same time, we realise the people of Fasta Benj may wish to remain independent, in which case we will withdraw all military forces, while not withdrawing humanitarian aid. We do hasten to point out, however, that if this were the case, we doubt that the Government in Cyro would be in a position to hold off the chaos brought by the North Germanian troops..."

OOC: Wait, Dyelli, I thought I was helping you out in Fasta Benj?
IC:
Inside the city, a line of once homeless Germanians were being settled in vacated apartments and houses of what was once Fasta Benj. Crowded apartments and houses in North Germania were moved to the newly aquired land in Fasta Benj.
The Germanian flag was flown from buildings all over the city. Small firefights between Benjian militia and Germanian soldiers had erupted randomly in the city, but ended within a few hours.
The assimilation of Eastern Fasta Benj was moving far more quickly than military analysts had predicted, due to the utter lack of resistance. Generals were becoming a bit nervous and were expecting a more major resistance to uprise soon. Thus, patrols were ordered in the streets.
Every 14 blocks, a patrol of 10 men followed by an armored car patrolled an area of 14 square blocks.
The grey uniforms of the Schultzpolizei almost seemed to be a form of the Germanian conquest in themselves.

Camp Anschloss outside of Fasta Benj was becoming all too efficient. Executions had a daily total of over 700. The grand total of kills inside Anschloss had risen to 7,568, in a matter of 3 weeks' time.
The rest of the camps had been established and were fully operational. To avoid overcrowding in Anschloss, these camps were built to serve as a holding ground until arrangements for executions could be made. It has been reported that Benjian citizens were barely fed more than a small bowl of oats. Deaths from starvation and dehydration were becoming frequent, and the hot weather did not help the situation.
Being broadcasted through loudspeakers in the city of Fasta Benj, was a frequent message:
We are here to bring you to a better place. Dyelli Beybi will soon be advancing on this area and they will kill you all. We are simply moving you to a "safe zone" protected by Germania. The rumors you may have heard about death camps are total lies, started by Dyellians intent on breaking your trust with us. We wish you well!
Slowly but surely, the Vrakian foray into the jungle pushed onwards. However, some men were not used to jungle conditions and the strange diseases were being a nuisance for the soldiers and medical staff. Luckily, no homosexual monkeys have been spotted but it would only be a matter of time.
So far, some new settlements in the form of military bases have been created about 10-15 kilometers deep into the jungle. However, long range patrols have been able to penetrate further but still maintaining supply lines.
Realizing that this process would be tedious, a command decision was made. Settlers would eventually be transplanted to the safe areas – that is closer to the side of Vrak. But the border would undoubtedly be hard to manage. But first, it needed to be clearly marked, or as well one could mark it in the jungle.
Giant helicopters loaded with men and communication gear were sent forth to mountain tops to erect microwave towers along with various satellite dishes. The workers themselves were not soldiers, but rather worked for Hydra Communications. Of course, they were protected by soldiers since the terrain was rough and they would be drawing closer to the Dyellian portion of the territory.
As well, cargo planes began dropping out strange items at five kilometer intervals. Flying low and slow, they carefully followed along the border. Once their load was finished, they were only too happy to fly back to base, not wanting to come any closer.

A fairly large clearing was made, large enough to accommodate a few prefab temporary housing, a huge helipad, army barracks and other essentials. One corner held a pile of building materials. Razor wire encircled the perimeter with a wooden type of stockade being erected. Machine gun and flamethrower nests were placed at regular intervals while two guard towers were manned with searchlights. Nothing fancy but enough to get the job done. Hopefully.
A crew was getting ready to depart. Their job was to locate the packages that the cargo planes dropped and then plant border signs at the locations. Not exactly difficult, but the weather, the odd jungle diseases, and the menancing wildlife began to wear on the personnel. Rotations didn’t seem to occur quickly enough and some grumbled that the high pay did little to alleviate things.

The few actual Djel Valleians in the jungle were somewhat dubious of the spiked collars worn by the locals on jungle patrols, although after having encountered homosexual monkeys, they quickly added the accessory to their uniform selection.

At Fort Hammond Satellite relay station.
Four analysits were sitting around a single computer console in the middle of the room. All of the other consoles had personel sitting near them, although none of them were as important as this one at the moment.
Terminal #4 controlled a KH-11 Recon Satellite that was about to overfly the "rogue" province where supposed inhumane acts had been commited against the population.
After a tip off from a foreign nations government the satelitte had been maneuvered so that its orbit took it over a supposed death camp where these acts were apparently taking place.
The camera on the satellite, several hundred miles above, slewed to give the operators a better view of the collection of huts.
The controlled zoomed in on a group of men who appeared to be chained together.
What happened next made the spectators stomachs turn.
They watched as a can of gasoline was spread over the men and then they were set alight.
"Geezus. We need to bump this up the chain of command right now."
"Agreed" replied Major Howerd Jenkins, an Air Force Major on night watch.
He stood and after a minute walk passed two Military Policemen with pistols holstered standing outside of the Intelligence Commander's office.
"Sir." he saluted
"Yes Howerd"
"Sir you need to see the footage jsut recorded from #4. It needs to be bumped up pretty quick sir."
"Hmm. Four that was covering the supposed death camps wasnt it?" a funny feeling developing in his stomach.
"Yes Sir it is."
He began rolling the video tape that he had brought with him on the office VCR.
After a minute the 1 star General looked at him.
"My God. The President has to see this. Hang a CRITIC tag on it Howerd and get it to the New White House immeadiately."
"Sir" he saluted and retreated from the room. He then went outside and got into his HMMWV for the 4 minute journey to the massive secure communications room. Usually they would simply send it there from the comm unit in there building or beam it to where it was needed via one of the huge satelitte dishes on the roof of the semi-bunker building, however this needed to be delivered personally.
At the New White House
Vice-President Simon Bull had jsut arrived back in the White House after a trip to the Southern States to announce increased ship building all along that coast.
As could be expected he was tired and had his top button undone and his tie off.
As President Anderson was in Credonia attending the wedding, he was effectively incharge of the country. No easy task with over 2.5 billion people to look after.
One of the Secret Service Agents pressed his earpiece in as a message came through. After acknowledging it he turned to the Vice President.
"Sir, you are required in the Situation Room. Its urgent."
"Ok Sam." he said to the Agent, and made a 180 turn to head back down the corridor towards the elevator that would take him down to the Situation room.
As usual there were two Marine Guards outside the door, and only two of the Agents came into the room with him. The Generals and Admirals arrayed around the table stood as he walked in.
"Sit down Gentlemen. Whats going on?"
General Siler, Head of the Joint Chiefs answered "We have disturbing developments in Dyelli Beybi. As you know President Anderson asked for a satellite to be tasked to look over the area. We have the results of the first pass, they just arrived from Hammond. Roll the video."
The room watched in silence for a minute, until the Vice-President let out a distressed sigh.
"James needs to see this ASAP" he turned to a Secret Service Agent "Where is he now?"
"President Anderson is currently just entering the Credonian Royal Palace Sir" he replied.
"Ok, get a message to him now. If we can lets get this tape sent out to him."
"General bring the military to DEFCON 3. Put the Black Knights and other first strike aircraft onto one hours notice."
"Yes Sir." replied General Siler. He looked at the Joint Chiefs as the VP got up to leave.
As he went back down the corridor towards the elevator he stopped and looked at Agent Sam Hopkins.
"Sam, get me the President on the phone right away. Tell him its very urgent......"
OOC: Not too sure where to put this one actually. Ah well.

At Vrak Prime, the final preparations for the launching of a projection fleet was underway. The mauling of the navy from Dozle forced the military planners to attempt to streamline the organization while tying to maintain logistical support.
Out in the main harbour, some of the ships could be seen moving into position. Interestingly enough, a decent handful of amphibious class ships were also sighted. For what purpose, no one knew exactly what for, but rumour circulated that their would be some joint exercises in the near future. Therefore, it was deemed that the projection fleet undergo its own exercises beforehand.

While this was entirely normal activity for a Dyelli Beybian border, the thing that would spark notice was the fact that the troops doing the hammering were dressed in propper camouflage patterns, although they retained the same Germanic style helmets the Dyellians were using most were not wearing them. Most were wearing green forage caps, anyhone who looked closely would find the letters EBA printed in black on the caps, as well as on the sleeves of the shirts. Gillen Naval Base
At the dead of night the silluote of the massive aircraft carrier IHS Fearsome as it stood out to sea, moved passed the piers at the end of the military port and out into the main channel of the river.
Within half an hour the massive ship was out into the open sea with here escorts and two other carriers forming up around her.
Along the Dyellian/Vrakian border in EPG territory
Translated from Vrakian.
-This blows. I mean, this really blows.
-Shut up. Your getting 100 kronor an hour being out here numnuts.
-Ah, blow me. Frigging last crew was attacked by those damn monkeys. They had to call in an medical evac for Frank you know. His face was torn off.
-Yeah, you heard that from Roger, right? Roger who craps his pants at the sight of a combustible hamster.
[Raised voice] -Hey. He was there, man. He saw it all! The fire eaters barely managed to save their own necks let alone anyone else’s.
[Hissing in a low voice] – Shut your trap, nimrod, and give me those pliers. Think I like it out here? I’m here for the kronors you dummy so the faster we get out of here the better.
[Mumbling] – Okay, okay. Sure.
A faint rustling could be heard but not by the two working on the border sign. The soldier however did here it and made his way to the work crew. He made hand signals to the others who gradually closed in the perimeter.
-Hurry up you dumbasses!
Suddenly some wild gibbering came out of the jungle. A flock of birds took flight at the noise and one distracted crew member banged his partner’s thumb with a hammer. Then, they froze…
====
5 hours later
The clean-up crew could only identify the bodies through dental records. Generous compensation was made to the families of the soldiers and workers. At least the border sign was in place.

A typical sign made in all the major Klatchian languages.

In the jungle on the border a section of New Dyellian infantry were making their way through the jungle, always wary for the sounds of monkey attack, two en had been injured in the last, but not too badly. The problem with the monkeys was not size, they were small...it was their habbit of dropping out of the trees on top of you and biting your neck/face off.
Jungle uniforms in these parts had a spiked collar to keep the beasts off your neck, the brims on the helmets were wide, and many of the veterans had spread 'spike mat' across the top, it was basically a plasticised sheet with razor blades on the top, designed to horridly mangle any monkey stupid enough to jump on it. It was useful, but also potentially dangerous to the people around you.
There was a rustling in the trees and all the men dropped to a crouch, quickly retreating to a circle, their guns aimed up in the trees.
"There's a f---ing troop up there someone." the Sergeant muttered.
They listened as the rustling grew closer, "Hold your fire." he muttered again.
Suddenly the trees were alive with the foul long toothed creatures, a split second later the guns were blazing. One man was had a creature land on his helmet, shrieking madly it sank it's teeth into his shoulder.
He roared in pain, dropping his gun and tearing the thing off his arm hurling it against a tree. Another one landed on the Sergeant's helmet, and was impaled on the myriad of small spikes.
Then just as suddenly the jungle was quiet, "That's odd." one Lance-Corporal muttered quietly, "They gave up easily." he reloaded his assault rifle, determined not to be caught off guard if the creatures returned.
"Owww jeez Kwung you're bleeding badly."
Kwung grimaced, "Have to get some of that spike stuff for my helmet." he muttered, "Who's got the bandages."
Another Private handed him one and he began to wrap his arm, "You should really clean that." someone chided.
The Sergeant poked at a dead monkey, "I reckon they've already eaten."
This silenced the section, "Should we go and see where they came from?" the Sergeant asked.
Around an hour later he was peering through his binoculars, "Sweet Jesus...Vrakians, I thought they'd forgotten they owned that part of the country."
"Doesn't look friendly." someone else commented.
"Radio out to base and tell them what we've seen."
