Austar Union
09-05-2004, 15:44
Today, Vice-President Mark Etheton has been sworn in as President of the Republic of Austar Union.
Mark was a close friend of the late Richard Hoffman. It is estimated that through his ventures as Vice-President, he has some 90% support for his candidancy as President, making a Republican obvious choice.
Mark has promised to make the Austar Union more involved on the international stage, both on a diplomatic and general military scale. He has also promised to upgrade the national military, to make it truly capable to its role today.
He has been described by the late Mr Hoffman himself, as "A true, and just friend, who has supported me even when the public opinion in my own nation was against me. He will truly be my successor."
The new President Etherton has been a major deliverer of Mr Hoffman's funeral last week. He can also been seen regularly at major and private beaches around the Republic.
This is a major change in Republican politics, who are now focusing on bringing the younger generations into power.
