The Future of Designwerks...

Schultaria Prime
09-05-2004, 05:40
Due to lackluster performance and flagging international sales, Schultaria Prime's State Industries, Designwerks, have been forced to appeal to the international community for help and suggestions.

No longer able to depend solely on its novelty as a purely technical storefront, Designwerks has conceded that a new (possibly radical) change might have to take place. We ask representatives of each nation to vote on the above suggestions and propose options so we can better help to serve your needs.

Thank you for your patronage,
-Central Director Elliot Schultz

Propeganda Warfare would be a nice addition to storefronts.
I'm glad I'm on your "good diplomatic relations" list.

OOC:
WOW! Nice site! How did you get more than 7 paragraphs per page?

OOC: Thank you TBD for your comments; they are truly appreciated.

The way I circumvented the paragraph limit was to group things into similar paragraphs making one "super" paragraph.

If you produce very technologically advanced armour and troop systems, we would consider buying them. (Speaking as Jordaxia, because this guy is my puppet) Our land based forces are very small, yet they still recieve 20% of the total defense budget. If there were advanced command and communication systems available, we would be very interested, as we need something to give our army a chance. It cannot survive on numbers alone.

Any and all ideas are welcome. Though while voting is good for general ideas, your personal suggestions are what really motivate Deisgnwerks' updates. Please post any and all ideas to help improve this storefront.

First, I would like to congratulate you on a sucessful storefront. I think it would be good if you sold more telecomunication things and possibly telescopes.

Telecoms:

Masts, Satelites, Grid Packages etc, telecoms systmes, internet systems etc.

Telescopes:

Things like the big dish telescopes that see the stars.

Another BUMP: Thank you for the ideas, hopefully I will have some new products within a few RL days. However, please keep the comments and posts comming. You, the consumer, dictate what we, the producer, make.

As you don't want to really go into offensive military equipment, why don't you go for support vehicles?
Schultaria Prime
09-05-2004, 22:50
OOC: Perhaps you could tell me what kind of vehicles you are looking for?

The definition of support vehicle is quite broad; it could mean actual military fire support (artillery), civilian and military construction equipment, medical and fire support vehicles, or a variety of military or non military concepts that I can not think of off hand. However, I thank you for your suggestion Phoenixius and I hope that it can come to fruition.

Far too many people run storefronts selling military equipment already - hell, even I do when I feel like selling off some old kit/vehicles - and there's only a limited amount of designs you can 'sell', unless you're a master of CGI art like Raysia, etc. and so your storefront would not 'stand out' as your current one does.

The problem with your current storefront is that many people just want to run out and buy weaponry, then sit threatening the world :P - not that many are concerned with running things off the military track.

Manufacturing defensive and non-lethal weapons would be interesting, and I for one would definately take a look - it would have both the military aspect to draw in those people, and those who like to run things 'behind the scenes' in their countries.

Just my 2% of a $.

Thank you for your reply Kelonian, we will look into the possibility of non-leathal weapon designs for future Designwerks updates.

OOC:

Yeah, I really am somewhat dissapointed in the fact that more nations don't concern themselves with their actual national development. Even though I don't like producing military equipment I do have to concede the fact that something with a trigger that looks remotely like a gun seems to sell better than the fastest computer or the smallest nuclear reactor sold by any nation in NS.

It's both a national precedent (and my personal preference) that Schultaria Prime does not actively try to produce pure military technology. This is due to the fact that it only appeals to a limited range of applications; an infantry fighting vehicle makes a poor plowshare and an even worse research lab while a steel mill could help to build a nation's shipping industry while making those one or two armor columns in the process. It's all about HOW you use the technology and how inventive the user is in developing these systems to their own ends.

It is nice to hear support from other concerned nations in my effort to improve this storefront. In all sincerity, I personally thank you.

Maybe defensive fortification would be a good idea. Personally, I haven't seen a storefront that sells pillboxes, bunkers, or the like. You won't have to sell any weapons with in, that a given, and these won't hurt anyone unless they invade [the nation that has these]. A portable pillbox would be good. (dropped by plane or loaded onto trucks)

Interesting idea Granzi, we'll have to test the feasibilty of such a concept to see if it will work in a practical situation.

Well, I still think you should produce defensive weapons, but please keep selling your civilian technology. I really like it.

OOC: I'll try to see what I can do to improve the storefront, but I have University final examinations this week so this (coupled with moving back home) will knock me out of commission from this Wednesday to probably next Monday. However, please keep the ideas comming, they really are beneficial!

As always, a high-quality and effecient product, the Commonwealth congratulates Schultaria Prime for another job well done! The Commonwealth is pleased that a policy of non-aggressive action has been preserved. Granzi also does not wish to maintain a system of nuclear wepons, yet understands the need for a deterrent for those who do. We would like to purchase 6 Kamor-IBBEM Satellites. Our only question concerns the packages compatible with this system. Are they optional, or do they come standard? Thank you.
