A billion cherubs in Zoogiedom!
Thousands upon thousands of people celebrate joyously the billionth cherub (how we like to refer to our homo sapiens sapiens) to breath the wonderful airs of the Free Lands of Zoogiedom. It is a day of celebration for Zoogiedom, a day to be forever cherished...
For today, Zoogiedom steps up from the ranks of the insignificant, and gallantly joins the heavenly and feared ranks of the great nation-states commonly referred to as "one-billion-plus," or "one-billion-+," or "1000000000+," or something similar. Now that one new cherub has joined us, we have risen exponentially in esteem...odd, isn't it?
The President today gave a fairly pointless speech in the capitol city of Jaganda, marking this great milestone in Zoogiedom's history. "We have come this far," he said, "but we still have a long way to go before the next billion mark. Keep pumping out babies, women of Zoogiedom!"
Well, no, he didn't really say that...that was a bit of...imagination on our part. However, he did mark this great milestone with a brief, five minute speech that more or less amounted to "Great!" The milestone is entirely figurative and holds barely any qualitative meaning.
However, we have reached a billion. It's time to celebrate...oh, and by the way, two seconds later a foolish cherub died while attempting to fly by jumping off a building. Sadly, this sort of thing still happens...death is inevitable, let's have a drink.
