Peltastor takes to seas.

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ship/images/arsenalship-s.jpg

The first vessel of the Zoogiedom Navy's new MN-26 Peltast-class missileer vessel takes to the seas today, sailing off from the Arimos Shipyards and heading out to open seas, due to arrive at Trimisse shortly after where it will reside.

The Z.M.S. Peltastor is the first in a class of missileer vessels for general use in the Zoogiedom Navy; mainly for medium to long ranged strikes on enemy fleets and land assets. The purpose of the Peltast missileer is to pack an incredible amount of firepower - 526 XVLS tubes - into a single lightly manned ship. While the Padishah-class destroyer has a similar role in supporting ground forces, the Peltast is a much heavier alternative in an entirely different class.

The Peltast missileer is designed to accompany aircraft carriers as a fleet battleship, more or less. The Peltast is more of an offensive platform than a fleet escort; although it also has a semi-embedded 5-inch gun at the front and formidable self-defense systems in the form of the newly developed Cataphroict CIWS and various other anti-incoming-missile/torpedo weapons.

The Peltast effectively eliminates the need for battleships in the Zoogiedom Navy; and as such Mackenson-class battleships are now being retired along with Agammemnon-class battleships, built by Doujin and Tokarev, respectively. Harpoon-class battleships have already been sold to Jordaxia, and the only battleships remaining in the inventory are several Iowa-class, which have been destroyed in fire tests.

The Peltast is a fairly large ship, with a length of over seven hundred feet at least - sources still unconfirmed at best - and staffed by a small crew of "roughly ninety," as quoted by Esmier spokesman Paul Sarkovich. "We can't be too specific at this point, although we will say that the crew has been minimalized incredibly."

The Peltast will cost an estimated $700 million per unit, and will feature stealth characteristics and a double hull.

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ship/images/arsenal_72-s.jpg

The Peltast will be a sister ship to the larger Javelin-class missileer, whose purpose has so far not been identified. Both the Javelin and the flagship Piliar-class flagship will be employed in only small numbers, the future and role in the Zoogiedom navy of the Peltast is bright - twelve have already been commissioned or planned for commission.

Iowa-class formally no longer a part of the Zoogie Navy

http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:FspEMUUw5O8J:www.history.navy.mil/photos/images/h97000/h97206k.jpg

The Iowa-class battleship, pictured above, is now no longer a part of the United Naval Forces, with the destruction of all six retired Iowa-class ships in a combat firepower test.

The six Iowa-class battleships, ZMS Iowa (1940-1976), ZMS Leishenburg (1941-1979), ZMS Jinsel (1944-1983), ZMS Stockholm (1946-1968), ZMS Greenwich (1951-1983), and ZMS Parabis (1953-1983) , along with the damaged Harpoon-class ZMS Lowry (1980-1997) were simultaneously destroyed by the ZMS Peltastor Peltast class missileer in firing tests.

Visindil cruise missiles of the anti-surface model were fired from the VLS hatches of the the Peltast while in the vicinity of Trimisse, and all seven battleships were destroyed.

"Please to understand that this was not a means of getting rid of several battleships," Navy spokesperson Linda Roberts told Phaerus. "This was a crucial weapons test for the systems of the Peltast-class and for a new experimental anti-ship weapon."

The weapon, referred to by Esmier as 'The Precious,' despite the vehement protests of Zoogie Aerospace corporation (see ZaS-27 (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=140675&highlight=)), is a joint development between Zoogiedom and Kazakhstania.

Taking advantage of LUN?

http://foxxaero.homestead.com/files/project_903_image_lg.jpg

Launched by the Union of Soviet Socialist States in 1987, the LUN assault ship was a rapid assault vessel featuring wing-in-ground effect technology capable of rapidly delivering six cruise missiles to their destination.

Dewport Naval corporation recently announced the possibility of such a requisite by the United Naval Forces, and stated that a modern adaptation of the LUN assault ship would suite the requirement perfectly.

Modifications would have to be allowed for, however, such as vertical launch systems and a change in design, as well as a more efficient airframe/hull and propulsion. "We must realize, however," said spokesperson Michael Stewart, "That the LUN assault ship would be a deadly addition to the Tri-Island Defense Forces. It would give Zoogiedom the capability to rapidly deploy ships in range of an invading fleet at a moment's notice, and deliver an effective load with a comparatively small crew."

Aquatic research advances made possible by new WIG

http://foxxaero.homestead.com/files/Spring2002_7_.jpg

The new EL-11 ship, designed by Elinsel Corporation, features a new WIG vessel configuration. With reversed a delta center wing section, this pioneer in WIG technology will be used as aquatic and environmental research, particularly in frozen and cold areas. Also capable of lifting up to twenty feet off the ground, the EL-11 is capable of speeds in excess of 200kph.

It's a fish! It's a ship! It's a....dolphin?

http://www.bionicdolphin.com/tom/media/pics/designs/shark3_4~1-tb.jpg

Soon to be in widespread use by the Zoogie Coast Guard and military, the EL-18 Dolphin vessel is a revolutionary design, the first of its kind in Zoogiedom. The EL-18 is a hydrofoil - moreover, a submersible hydrofoil. Moreover, a submersible hydrofoil that leaps out of the water. It is, as an Elinsel spokesman described, "...essentially an underwater flying machine."

Tri-axis controls allow for pitch, roll, full circle turns, allowing for unprecedented manueverability, and also by virtue of its design, the EL-18 is capable of breaching the surface. "It's quite fascinating," said coast guard officer Sharon Brown. "To watch the Dolphin leap out of the water is truly a unique experience."

Next up? Supercavitating fighter/submersibles? "Who knows?" said Brown. "The possibilities are endless. Well, supercavitating fighter-submersible hybrids are several decades off, but one day you may see submarines pop out of the water, climb to ten thousand feet, fly at faster than the speed of sound, and engage combat aircraft."

Indeed, the Marine Corps is already looking at the possibility of an enlargened Dolphin-type submersible with room for two Mk. 50 torpedoes, and even greater speeds than the recorded 90-mph surface and 40-mph subsurface speeds recorded by the hydrofoil hybrid.

Fright! Future naval vessels to intimidate the enemy?

http://foxxaero.homestead.com/files/vdhp34.gif

The Dewport Naval DeP-3 is the bleeding edge of hydrofoil technology, featuring a mechanical vertical-dampening system for fuel optimization and a very, very, very smooth ride. The wave piercing vessel rides close to the water surface, cutting out the effects of porpoising prevalent in modern hydrofoils. Being employed as a passenger vessel and a general purpose coast guard cutter, the Navy is again attempting to exploit it for military use.

The DeP-3's shape is so absurd that a Dewport spokesman is quoted with describing its military potential as intimidation of the foe.

Naval speed barriers SHATTERED?

http://foxxaero.homestead.com/files/ACwsr.jpg

Latest reports have indicated that the Blue Streak, technically the EL-4 surface skimming hydroship, has shattered previous Zoogiedom speed records in test runs in the waters near Jaggedy Island. Rumours are that speeds of up to four hundred miles per hour were acheived, but this is speculative.

New Hover WIG announced

http://foxxaero.homestead.com/files/Skimmer2.gif

In a painfully long list of absurd hovering ships that truly stretch the definition of 'boat,' the EL-23 hover wing carries passengers across bodies of water at speeds of up to and over 120kmh. The coast guard is also using this as a search and rescue vessel, along with the very interesting SD-17.

http://foxxaero.homestead.com/files/IO_hover.jpg

The SD-17 has the typical fuel consumption of an automobile and offers incredible speed and manueverability, ideal for tourism and - obviously - search and rescue.

Naval Transport: Yes, it's good again.

The Hughes-Stanley HS-1 wave piercing catamaran is a strategic naval vessel recently deployed to the Zoogiedom navy. Easily slicing through wave patterns, rather than cutting over, the HS-1 is capable of extraordinarily high speeds and payload. With possible Cataphroict CIWS and other ammunition design in the future, the HS-1 is the Navy's most effective form of transportation today, able to lift over 400 tons of equipment at speeds of 43 knots.

Wavepiercing stealthy patrol boats enter Zoogiedom service

[img]http://foxxaero.homestead.com/files/vsv_MKIII.jpg

The HS-5 is a so called VSV - very slender vessel. A radical, stealthy wave-piercing design, the HS-5 is capable of tearing across the seas at incredible speeds thanks to its long, slender hull shape. With incredible range, the HS-5 is to be fitted with torpedo tubes and possible a quad canister for Visindil sea-skimming anti-ship missile launch, along with a 50-caliber or similar machine gun mounted in the rear.

The HS-5 will be an enduring patrol vessel with relatively light armament and armour, and even lighter crew. It makes up, however, for it with range and speed, making the HS-5 one of the more capable patrol vessels out there.

Bon Voyage: Tiboritia City-at-Sea sets off

The newest in a procurement the second procurement of Freedom-class floating islands has ended, with the latest city-at-sea, named the ZCV-17 Dareham Island, setting off for a voyage through the Zoogie Isles, keeping its 50,000 inhabitants in perpetual sunshine with a carefully plotted course.

The Freedom-class features a 25-story superstructure with two full length runways - runways, not flight decks, on the top capable of handling forty civilian aircraft - civilian aircraft, not much smaller military planes with folded wings for naval use. The Dareham will be fitted with civilian aircraft and helicopters as well as a squadron of twelve ZaS-42M 'Gecko' aircraft for general protection of the city-island.

Naval Transport: It gets better. A lot better.

http://foxxaero.homestead.com/files/Kestrel2.jpg

Thought the HS-1 was a dream come true to naval shipping needs in Zoogiedom? It certainly was, but then, the DeP-248 would have to rank as a glistening holy grail. A bihull craft requiring a very sophisticated 'drive-by-optics' computer control system to keep it stable, the DeP-248 features a single ski concept which allows it incredible potential speeds. Marinized jet engines - two excessively large ones - are fitted onto the rear of the vessel - if it can be called a vessel - and gives the DeP-48 incredibly speeds of well over 300 knots, even in its prototype stages. Limited supercavitation technology was employed to acheive this, but the DeP-248 may signal the future of naval shipping.

If the Star Aerospace Sa-24 wing-in-ground aircraft caused military deployment officers to swoon, and the HS-1 caused them to drool, then the DeP-248 will surely cause them to pass out. With astounding cargo capabilities and astounding speed, the DeP-248 will be the future of both civilian and military transports.

Trimaran hydrofoils to deploy to Coast Guard

http://foxxaero.homestead.com/files/MonoFlight4.jpg

The latest in a line of incredible littoral ships, the Cherubic-class hydrofoil is soon to deploy to the United Coast Guard Services, giving the coast guard unprecedented shallow water combat capability, trimaran survivability, hydrofoil speed, and a lethal punch.

The Cherubic-class is a trimaran hydrofoil, capable of speeds close to sixty knots and operation in less than nine feet of water - nine feet! Shallow water combat capability is an incredible understatement. The advanced hull design is known as 'dynamically-assisted trimaran,' and although in late prototype stages, the final version will be enlargened and armed.

Coast Guard receives YACGS - yet another coast guard ship.

http://foxxaero.homestead.com/files/bladerunner_3.jpg

The DeP-12 has been deployed to the United Coast Guard Services, an incredibly fast and safe wave-piercing ram-cushion vessel for scouting and search and rescue even in rough seas. The DeP-12 has a better turning radius than anything else out there, and does it with significantly less risk.

The small vessel features speeds of over eighty miles per hour, giving the coast guard rapid response time to incidents of significance. Militarized versions with machine guns mounted on them may also be implemented in the future.

Naval Transport! Better again!

http://foxxaero.homestead.com/files/very_high_speed_transport_trimaran.jpg

Remember those military deployment officers who had fainted prior? We've run out of nasty, sadistical depictions of these poor logistics people, so suffice it to say that the HS-22 will leave many ... speechless. The HS-2 is a very high speed transport trimaran, the only kind in its class, able to deploy a large amount of soldiers and military equipment very quickly through heavy seas.

Not only is it capable of doing that, the HS-22 will have numerous coast guard patrol capabilities; and will serve in limited numbers with the UCGS, providing incredibly support and tracking of the civilian aspects of the seas. That's correct, there are civilian aspects to the seas.

The HS-22 is due to enter service soon and may also be offered for export not long after. The unique, high speed transport trimaran will be the most effective and capable transport out there.

The Maiden of the Seas sets sail.

http://foxxaero.homestead.com/files/super_liner.jpg

A new line of oceanliners, the luxurious Maiden of the Seas class of high speed vessels, will be the next generation super cruise ship, breaking all present standards in civilian liners. The luxurious oceanliner is a monohull very slim vessel (VSV) with speeds of up to sixty knots. WIth wave-piercing technology, the likeliness of seasickness is dramatically reduced.

http://home.ripway.com/2004-1/54396/Titan77.jpg

The 80-meter transport Titanus class is a slightly more humble civilian transporter. It's actually a yacht with tremendous wavepiercing speeds, and may even be armed! ... Well, not heavily, but these would serve as efficient convoys for military and civilian cargoes in times of tension for Zoogiedom.

Naval Transport! Er...

http://foxxaero.homestead.com/files/Aerocon.gif

Wing-in-Ground: it's back, and it's back in naval transport. This radical new Zoogie Aerospace plane/ship/hybrid - this...'craft,' is based upon the wing-in-ground principle of the Sa-24 transport, and the Ekranoplan principle of the LUN assault ship.

The ZaS-263 wingship - as it has been termed - will be the military's second WIG aircraft transport that's...not quite an aircraft. The bleeding edge of wing-in-ground technology allows it to travel at incredible speeds while skimming the sea surface, and also to rise to heights of over a thousand feet in the air.

Even more appealing for the general, sadistically-minded NS public will be its armament; with torpedo tubes capable of carrying twenty Mark 48 torpedoes. In fact, according to a Zoogie Aerospace press officer, the ZaS-263 can easily be converted to a smaller, more agile, faster, and more capable patrol vessel with greater dedicated military payload. In other words, if it's not used for cargo, it can be trimmed down in size and loaded up with torpedoes and missiles.

Civilian uses are planned as well for the Ekranoplan principle; with Zoogie Aerospace unveiling its ZeA model 262 civilian wing-in-ground aircraft later this year.

http://prs.tripod.com/WIGEV/ekranoplan.jpg

http://prs.tripod.com/WIGEV/Volga-2a.jpg

A predecessor to these giants was the petite Zoogie Aerospace Volga, still used as a beach guard for large and medium sized lakes and rivers.

Naval Transportation: It gets a lot more...humble.

A departure from the two closest (timewise) naval transport predecessors, the DeP-21 and EL-15 are two new TAP vessels - transport amphibous platforms. The DeP-21 can transport methane fuel (or oil, for those of you less developed nations :P) to combat situations, and the EL-15 is a general logistical transport ship. Both are very efficient in shallow water and can maintain supply lines through rivers rather than oceans, when you have none.

Both are unarmed - so aren't they vulnerable? It's not as if a destroyer is going to go up a river - but air cushion vehicles can. The potent Hylis class air cushion vehicle will be able to serve both as a transport and as a heavily armed convoy for the EL-15 and DeP-21.

http://prs.tripod.com/WIGEV/Zubr2.jpg

The Coast Guard has a field day again; gets submarine

The overdelighted Coast Guard today contracted DeP Systems for general purpose submersible coast guard cutter. The swift, 20m vessel has a range of 1000nm, and can dive down to depths of 1000 feet - on battery power. The Coast Guard's capabilities have not only significantly improved - they've got a submarine.

Not only do they have a submarine, they've got a harbour yacht as well. A what?

http://foxxaero.homestead.com/files/Trilobis_3.jpg

The EL-8 Trilobus is a semi-submerged harbor yacht which produces no pollution at all. With infinite commercial possibility and scientific research, the Coast Guard contracted it for examination of aquatic ecosystem problems. The 10-knot, 65-foot craft is powered by solar power with propulsion supplied by hydrogen fuel cells.

A critical companion to the Trilobus, the EL-9 Deep Flight, is used for underwater filming and rapid descension into underwater environments. It is a research vessel in concept and design, but also has incredibly ommercial possibilities. Like the Trilobus, commercial corporations are already using it to generate profit. Instead of using a ballast to control depth, the inverted wings pull the craft down into a dive, allowing it to essentially fly underwater. The Deep Flight travels at speeds of up to fifteen knots.

Friendly aligned nation threatens nuclear attack

A nation that is in good standing with Zoogiedom today has threatened nuclear attack on the world with the demands that all nations dismantle their nuclear operations lest eighteen nuclear warheads be launched at the polar icecaps.

Zoogiedom has condemned this as in and of itself a cowardly act of terror yet seeks Feazanthia to see reason and back off on their demands. Meanwhile, anti-ballistic missile systems and satelittes stand ready, while Zoogiedom is privately contacting nations who are in disposition to neutralize the submarine threat should the order to launch be given.

United Navy engaged in largest combat operations for years

The United Naval Forces engaged in the largest combat operations for years last week when elements of the 13th carrier battle group launched massive strikes on a pirating fleet self-proclaimed as XF. Aircraft from two Charles E. Henson-class aircraft carriers took off to engage the enemy fleet, with a single battleship as the only dedicated naval vessel in it.

Zoogiedom engaged in the anti-pirating operation with its longtime LoD ally Nuevo Kowloon and several other nations in the area. Massive airborne strikes were launched while submarines from two allied nations were fired as well to destroy the pirate fleet.

"It may have been excess," said Admiral Gately in a later interview. "However, the capabilities of the armed merchant vessels were unknown, and the entire fleet had to be destroyed. A large amount of firepower was necessary."

Rumours abound that a Peltast-class missileer would have effectively and single handedly eliminated the threat, raising questions as to whether the Peltast can operate independently of the fleet, which it certainly was not conceived to do.

"Pretty" aircraft causes stir

http://home.ripway.com/2004-1/54396/khopesh2.jpg

The Star Aerospace prototype ZS-46 'Khopesh,' with the predetermined service name of the Sa-39, is causing quite a stir in the military circles of Zoogiedom. Designed as a light air superiority dogfighter, the Sa-39's usefulness is questioned when the Zoogie Aerospace ZaS-42 already serves as an excellent dogfighter (although designed for strike) and the ZaS-31 serves as an excellent light air superiority fighter.

Star Aerospace CEO Michael Kleinson responded that the defense department had made a requirement for the aircraft and that its use as a supplemental air superiority fighter would be highly important. He also added, "Besides, we need to show we can make a prettier plane than Zoogie Aero."

Zoogie Aerospace's ZaS-42 had previously been selected generally as the prettiest military aircraft in Zoogiedom.

New assault rifle enters service

http://www.hk-usa.com/pages/military-le/mil-leimages/xm8_rightmed.jpg

The Esmier ES-19 assault rifle enters service this year, providing the Zoogie armed forces with an incredible, next-generation assault rifle capable of better range, better accuracy, better handling, and better maintenance than the M-16/M-4 family. The ES-19 assault rifle is also more extensible - to the point of allowing for caliber change.

Millions of ES-19 units will go into production as the assault rifle becomes the standard in the Zoogie Army and Marine Forces. The unique ES-28 OICW is also expected to start production soon.

My Point?

This isn't just another news thread; it's really an OOC means of being able to tell affairs that Zoogiedom is engaged in around the world and check in on various Zoogiedom military developments.

In other words, yes, it's another personal sad attempt at organization.

Comments are most welcome, because comments bump threads, you know.

Zoogiedom acquires uranium, sources say

Sources say that Zoogiedom has acquired an amount of uranium enough for one nuclear missile. Reportedly, Zoogiedom intelligence agents were in Kallosha almost immediately after the announcement of the sale of a newfound cache of the mineral.

Although this report is unconfirmed, separate reports indicate the nation of Truillit, which is held in favorable regard by the Zoogie government, has also acquired uranium fromt he said nation.

These reports have caused some skepticism from political analysts, who note that Zoogiedom's nuclear program is on a supposed reduction of warheads, and considering that Zoogiedom has ample supplies of uranium itself.

DDA officials were unavailable for comment.

DDA: perhaps rumoured mass military overhaul exists, after all

In contrast to earlier vehement denials that massive military overhaul was being planned, the DDA has acknowledged that such restructuring 'may be existent and-or semi-existant, and may have been for some time.' Perhaps as much as several years.

"We may have made an understatement or oversight when we said that there is no serious spike in military technology development and no plans stated for massive military restructuring," said a DDA spokesman earlier this week. "It turns out that we might have been wrong."

-

DDA declassifies military restructuring

The defense agency has declassified much but not all of its military restructuring plan, which it had claimed to be non-existant only two weeks before. This comes only five days after DDA officials acknowledged the possibility that such a program may exist.

As part of the transitional phase, Zoogiedom has acquired five thousand Kazakhstanian tanks, and is retiring/selling all in its current possesion. All tanks and indeed all other heavy combat vehicles are to be replaced by next generation Future Combat System vehicles, an integrated army package that will change the face of the Zoogie army.

Technology will play a much bigger role, greatly increasing effectiveness and efficiency, allowing for rapid deployment and more rapid strikes. Among the FCS are a future battle tank, a future battle 'system' to serve alongside the tank, an armoured personell carrier, and others.

The program plans to reduce the size of the Zoogie army by roughly 15% net; decreasing combat forces while adding to support and logistics.

The Zoogie air force is looking to consolidate and cut back, possibly eliminating some programs and certainly halting all imported aircraft. A more effective and efficient overall combat network is being forged, allowing for the air force to take on a even more deadly capability while lessening the actual inventory.

The Zoogie navy is undergoing a complete overhaul, with all current units being slated for export or some other means of getting rid of them as an entire new navy is slowly and gradually emerging.

Not surprisingly, this has become reduced in size as well. The new military will pride itself on excellent intelligence, covert and special operations, and rapid deployment/rapid devastation warfare. The Zoogie military will be adaptable to any situation, urban or jungle, and be able to take things out more quickly with integration. This will also in a long run be a tax breather as the new Cherub party sets in its more libertarian policies.

Finally, the DDA has released a statement saying that 'there is a possibility that there is a multibillion-dollar intelligence agency existing with thousands of elite operatives able to inflict devastating damage and extract useful information, that we do not yet know about, named DENP.'

These statements were met with dismay by critics, mostly liberal pacifists, who had hoped the military would be abolished altogether.

"Phooey," said renowned hippy @@RANDOMNAME@@ while smoking a joint in his little block of space, which he has declared to be the Grand Epitome of Randomdom, as a separate nation. Randomname has stated his intent to get pacifism into the policy, even if it takes force. He was seen with operating a small army (four) of chainsaw-weilding longhaired people who roamed the streets screaming and chopping down telephone polls and carving their initials and threatening messages into houses, in a full scale invasion of Zoogiedom.

Randomname himself went raze-happy with a bulldozer, destroying seventeen homes and damaging more in a four hour rampage saturday in a remote rural area.

These actions were met by dismay by public officials, who assured Zoogiedom's mostly cherubic civilians that this was a tiny exception to the mostly progressively educated citizens.

Meanwhile, a platoon of fourteen marines has been sent to quell the secession of Randomdom and retake the property under the sovereignty of Zoogeidom, and to take out the invading army.
