Feazanthia's Final Solution (open RP)

Macleod stood behind a large, granite podium. It was snowing lightly, the white flakes sifting softly to the frozen ground. He pulled his fur coat tighter around him, stepping up to the podium. He looked out on the faces of all six hundred naval proteges that he had gathered. Several of them didn't look too happy to be there. Tough. Macleod cleared his throat and lowered the microphone to his lips.

"Gentelmen, I have called you here today for one reason. You all are some of the finest seamen to ever grace the service. I'm sure Admiral Wallace is right pissed that you're not on his flagship."

There was a wave of chuckling that passed through the crowd.

"But that is why you're all here. You're not on the flagship. You men have been called here to take place in the grandest mission ever carried out in Feazanthian history. Forty years ago, Feazanthia emerged from civil war and entered the fray of the world. We had envisioned the world to be a civilized place. We were proven wrong. From the outset, our glorious nation was plunged into war yet again. This time, it was not against ourselves, but against the Brazened Empire of Daikerta. We lost that war, but we continued on. Next, we were assaulted by myriad terrorist attacks, sanctioned by The United Socialist States of Umojan. We invaded, and after three brutal years we proved victorious. Since then, we have emerged as a naval power in the world.
But even now, there are bars which we cannot reach because of who we are. There are nations out there that have weapons of mass destruction. We shall never be able to reach this bar because we deplore this type of weapon. However, they still remain a threat not only to us, but the world.
That is why you are here. You shall all take place in a grand operation. This operation is dangerous. Very dangerous. I'm not going to lie to you, there is a strong chance that none of you shall return. However, should you succeed, the world itself will be a better place. If any of you wish to back out now, please do. You shall not be looked down upon."
No one moved. Macleod's wrinkled face smiled.
"Very well. Xylion Industries has recently produced two new Wraith-class guided missile submarines and one new Shade-class ballistic missile submarine. You men are to take our newest submarines north, using the silent drives. The Politoviskiy and the Konavalev, the Wraiths, shall provide cover for the Kranzy Oktaber, the Shade. Once you have reached the polar region, you are to wait there. Should you not recieve a signal from us in three weeks, your captains shall know what to do. Needless to say, this may require you to fire upon ships that want to destroy you. Consider any ship other than a Feazanthian to be hostile."
There was an uneasy shifting in the crowd.
"This shall be Feazanthia's most glorious moment. Go forth, brave soldiers, and make us proud."

A rousing chorus of the Feazanthian National Anthem broke out from the crowd, and Macleod smiled even more. He stepped down from the podium and went for his amoured car.
"Lieutennant, prepare to send an open transmission as soon as those ships leave port."

Captain Mead stood on the sail of the Kranzy Oktaber, the Shade-class SSBN. The Politoviskiy and the Konavalev were half a mile away on either side, and beginning to submerge.
"It's cold today, captain," said the first officer, Samuel Preville. Mead grunted, then spoke.
"Cold...and hard." The diving klaxxon on the Politoviskiy sounded.
"We should go inside, captain. The mission is starting."
Mead grunted again, then turned and went down the steel ladder.

Five minutes later, the Kranzy Oktaber submerged and activated its SPIRIT CATERPILLAR drive, becoming silent. All three submarines were travelling at a steady twenty knots.

++OPEN TRANSMISSION++
TO:The Leaders of the World
FROM: Commander Feaz C. Macleod, Armed Republic of Feazanthia
Subject: Operation: Final Solution

Greetings, fellow world leaders.
In recent years, we have realized the severity of nuclear warfare. Our own efforts at improving our nuclear arsenal have been disastrous. However, we did manage to create eighteen nuclear warheads.
Which brings me to my demands. At the moment, three nuclear submarines are heading at high speed into the ocean. Unless our demands are met, the subs shall fire their warheads on the polar ice caps.

Our demands are thus:
1) All nuclear arsenals must be catalouged and provided to the public for viewing.
2) All nuclear arsenals must be destroyed. This shall lead to eventual world peace.

You understand, we are a peaceful nation and hoping for universal peace. This cannot be achieved as long as the treat of nuclear war hovers over us. Thus, all weapons must be destroyed, or we shall destroy you.

Baroness Sophronsa Aryet, the Macisikani Ambassador to Feazanthia looked up as a breathless intern cast his shadow over her desk.
"Yes?"
"Madam, you'd better read this."
Baroness Aryet's face seemed to age as she read the document he handed her.
"As if the Empire didn't have enough to deal with... come with me."
She hurried from her office, through the labyrinthine embassy to its communications centre.
"You." she pointed at one of the technicians.
"Get me a secure line to Arn-Macisika. Now."
The technician cut off what he was doing, and began keying the request in.
"Fax this through as soon as we're up."
"Yes milady."
The technician looked up.
"Madam, we have a link." he said as he vacated his chair, handing her the headpiece.
She looked at the face of Baronett Julius Madarr, Secretary of State for Ambassadorial Affairs; the point of contact with the Imperial Government.
"Sir Julius."
"Madam Aryet, what a pleasure."
"Not this time Sir Julius, read what we're faxing you."
Sir Julius' face went pale as he read it.
"We have to work out a response to this, but I want you to stay in the comm. centre".
The channel cut.
Aryet stared at the blank screen.
"So it begins..." she murmured.

Captain Mead awoke from a fitful slumber. Preville was at the door to his cabin.
"We're approaching the southern tip of South America, captain. I've ordered a routine clearing of the baffles."
"Good, sub-commander. Good."
"Captain, permission to speak freely."
"Of course, my friend."
"Captain, why are we out here? What could fleet command possibly want with three silent subs heading towards the north pole?"
"That, my friend, I cannot tell you."
"Welel, tell me this. Why did the Commander order the Fleet back to Feazanthian waters before we left?"
"Because, sub-commander, what we are doing could be construed as an act of war. That is all I can say at this time."

He rose and headed towards the bridge. His brow was furrowed in thought.

Baroness Aryet looked up as a technician approached her.
"Madam, we have a coded message from Arn-Macisika, your eyes only."
She nodded, and crossed the room to the secure cell, which she sealed from the inside.
She then keyed in her ID, provided a blood sample, and performed several other ID checks in the sealed chamber.
Glowing text scrolled across the screen in front of her.
[code:1:04af5e5b90]
PRIORITY ONE: YOUR EYES ONLY
TO: Baroness Aryet, Ambassador to Feazanthia

You are instructed to make it known to the Feazanthians that His Holy Majesty's Government is extremely concerned about, and takes an extremely dim view of, this move.
You are to lodge a formal complaint; their actions endanger the stability of the world as there is not telling how various nations will react.
Prepare to destroy all codes and classified material upon reception of the final sequence.

Dettaine.[/code:1:04af5e5b90]

...reception of the final sequence. Oh my God.

The final sequence was a sentence, unique to each embassy, that, if received, was the signal that the Empire was cutting off diplomatic relations.

Dettaine.

And this came from the top; the First Minister himself.

Very well.
She left the chamber, not bothering to erase the message; that would be automatic as soon as she had stood up.
"Call the Feazanthian Commander. Tell him I request an audience, on a matter of the utmost urgency."
"Madam."

An aide handed Macleod the transmission from Baroness Aryet.
"Shit. Well, it had to happen sometime. Alright, send her highness a comunique stating that we would be honored for her to come here. Send a supersonic jet if we have to. I want this taken care of."

He sighed and lay back in his overstuffed chair. The snow was falling heavily outside.
"Damn. Damn damn damn. Any word from Mead's team?"
"No, sir. We estimate that their passing the horn of South America now."
"Good, good. Hopefully they can come home soon."

The Chief of the Phoenixius High Command takes the proffered slip of paper and silently reads it/

"Hmm, seems like someone has a decent idea - no nuclear weapons indeed. Well since we don't have any nukes this doesn't apply to us. However, as the melting of the ice caps is a serious event, we should send some of our own subs up there to check up on things. Get me the Fleet Admiral."

"Yes Sir."

"This is the Fleet Admiral, High Chief."

"Ah good. Could you send 5 Harius-S submarines to each of the north and south poles."

"As you wish Chief."

"So there you have it professor, apparently some obviously insane people are threatening the destruction of the poles with nuclear weapons. We just wish to know how serious the threat actually is," responded Director Damien via Comsat link to Professor Allman, "Your utmost speed in this matter is highly appreciated."

"Director, no need to worry! These are the kinds of problems I give to my junior and senior level undergraduate class. Just give me your best guess on the approximate yield of each weapon, and I can give you a rough impact right now."

Damien was relieved; uncovering a few scant charts and maps from security briefing previous he replied to the professor's query: "The yields fell in to the range between 1 to 15 megatons per weapon. Just give me a worst case scenario for the time being."

The professor pulled out a few sheets of calculations, studying them intently. He began to mutter various obscenities while writing, obviously directed at the Nation of Feazanthia, but Harlen Damien paid little heed. Roughly 5 minutes elapsed, and Allman seemed to appear far more relieved as he pressed onwards. He began to chuckle quietly then, once he placed the numbers into the computer to see the results, erupted into raucous laughter.

"Professor, might I ask what is so damn funny? We are talking about a very serious situation here!"

"Not with these people we aren't! How single minded to you have to be?" Allman said as he tried to suppress his unbridled happiness, "Even with an absolute worst case scenario of 300 collective Megatons only 2 to 3 and a half percent of both polar caps will melt! Keep in mind that this is the worst case scenario."

"All right, well at least we don't have to worry about the whole nation going underwater, but I will notify all the proper authorities about this development."

(OOC: Even melting 3.5% of the polar caps will result in a 3 Meter increase of the global coastline. Not exactly a doomsday scenario, but significant to a good portion of the world.)

In the main command room, Bree Tonia political control tower...
"This is Admiral Grade One Mitchell, All personnel in comms room to observation mode 1, this is not a drill,"
Why did that sound like i'm back on a sub? Andy Mitchell thought, Ah well, i'm the one who took the offer from the admiralty, and the pay is good, and the kids wouldnt like the idea of me being away four months at a time. And why now did Feazanthia think it had the right to make the entire world come to its beck and call? All nukes destroyed eh? That'd be the day world peace would come alright, but it wasnt really going to happen, was it? Better get onto high political tower block(ot High Pot to the common worker) about this one, now! Andy walked over to his blue phone, the direct link to the governing body of the Armed Republic of Bree Tonia, and dialled '0' for the receptionist, Sandra, who he hated having to call, as they had been high school sweetheart, and she'd turned on him when he had been accepted for the navy.
"Hello, High Pot reception, Sandra speaking. How may I be of service.?"
"Hi Sandra, its Andy Mitchells, from downstairs, when's the governor free for a heart attack next?"
"Er...hi, Andy, what do you mean?"You sleazy git,she didnt add.
"Never mind, something level 1 has come in, its just a small matter of massive stylee global flooding, of the man-made type."
"I can put you through now, if its that urgent. Hang on, Andy."
Chirp, Chirp, Bleeeeeep!
"Hello?"
"Mr Zaitzev, sir?"
"Yes, its me. Its Andy isnt it? Whats wrong?"
Andy gave a quick run-down on current goings-on for about 2-3 minutes, then faxed through the announcement by the Feazanthian government.
The governor was quiet for about half a minute and then...
"Damn, thats a good idea. we will run with them on this. I take it the comms room is ready for an immediate telegram to Feazanthia, right?"
"Yes sir, the operators on either end of the line know each other quite well, too, with that naval thing that they gave us."
"Ah, yes, of course. I'm faxing them a message that is to be put through, thanks for being so quick, Admiral."
The line went dead.

What in gods name are you thinking?! I know you want world peace; so does everyone. But this is not the way to go about it.

For a start, you're being no better then the terrorists who threaten others with nuclear disaster if we don't bow down. You are being terrorists, as much as I hate to say it, and soon you will have many people crashing down upon you like a ton of bricks.

Second, even if you do get rid of nuclear weapons, war will not dissapear. People will still fight, people will still kill, except they will just use other weapons or, worse still, develop even better alternatives to nuclear weapons.

I thought that you had the clarity and wisdom to see another solution to the problems of the world, but instead I see that you are willing to stoop down to the level of a terrorist...

OOC: Feazanthia, you are bloody insane. I respect you for trying to eliminate nuclear weapons - I myself would do so if I were President of the US or something like that - but don't you think this threat is a bit too far? Half the nations aren't going to listen to you. Zoogiedom itself is not going to dismantle its (very small) nuclear warhead stockpile because although we're never going to use them, NS would be much more dull without them...your good name and good intents, however, will keep us from going completely berserk

IC:

Feazanthia, Zoogiedom is deeply disturbed by your actions. Although it agrees somewhat in your intent, we realize that nuclear weapon ownership is an effective deterrent (not to mention spicing up NS a little). Our own nuclear arsenals, which number in the 400s and is soon to be cut as more advances are made in the nuclear program of Zoogiedom, is not going to be used ever unless nuclear weapons are used upon us.

Zoogiedom implores you to cease this rash overreaction to nuclear weapons in the world; they are a reality, and they are not going away.

We are alarmed at your recent posturing. How have you come to this scheme. While we applaud the goals of this endeavor, we deplore the methods. Please consider that if you were to carry out your threat, you would virtually destroy large portions of our country--a nation that is forbidden by its own Constitution from having nuclear weapons--and kill many of our 392 million people.

We find this undertaking of yours to be an even greater threat to the world than its nuclear arsenal. We ask that you step away from this path, and pursue nuclear reduction through other means. We would be more than willing to work with you toward that goal through more peaceful means.

Zoogiedom secretary of state George Dailey announced today that all diplomatic relations have ceased with the nation of Feazanthia, and that trade has been halted indefinitely. Dailey maintained that while Feazanthia still is a respected nation in the international community - at least, by Zoogiedom - its tactics are 'utterly disgraceful.'

The secretary of state delivered his speech today in the capitol, a speech both to the nation, Feazanthia, and the international community.

"Zoogiedom greatly looks down on the use and proliferation of nuclear technology. Our nuclear arsenal is a comparatively miniscule one, and all the time going down - and indeed, Zoogiedom intends never to use them, unless something so drastic occurs that their use be deemed to be necessary by a ninety percent vote in both Houses and with executive authorization.

"Feazanthia's intentions are noble. Their tactics - utterly disgraceful. By using the ploy of terror to force the world to disarm is both an unacheivable, unrealistic, and ethically terrible means of accomplishing the end. Let's be realistic, now - few nations will disarm their nuclear arsenal and halt their nuclear programs. Unfortunately, what difference does it make if the polar icecaps are struck with nuclear weapons? Those nations that disarmed will fall. Those nations that kept and intend to aggressively threaten and use, will fall. Those nations - like Zoogiedom - that keep them for the purpose of technology, passive deterrment, and intend to never use them - may fall as well.

"We know of nations who would not hesitate to glass Feazanthia several times over the second he launches those nuclear weapons. We beg of them not to do so. Zoogiedom's Eredron-designed Bastion II missile defense program, ABM satellites purchased from another nation (forget which :(), and Alewares-designed missile defense system will all be active and scanning for the nuclear weapons launch, and will shoot down any nuclear weapon launched by Feazanthia.

"We will assure you that other nations will follow suite when they realize the real threat - their sure destruction. Zoogiedom plans to use this course of action, currently being voted on in the Houses. As you can see, we are not aggressively pressuring Feazanthia or threatening them, as we see no need to and do not wish to. If the need arrises, however, we shall not hesitate.

"Zoogiedom will not - and nor shall many other nations - bow down to the threats of others. We will carry onward with our nuclear program as planned, which includes the reduction of nuclear weapons, and defend the world from this cowardly threat by Feazanthia. Today, Zoogiedom trade and diplomatic relations with the nation Feazanthia have been cut, severed, and put on hold indefinitely. Thank you."

OOC: What's your geography? An island? Land mass? Connecting to other nations?

Dailey sighed, as he spoke with Naval chief admiral Gately. "Your suggestion is a twofold naval operation - massive blockade and stealthy method of neutralization of the offending submarines?"

"Yes," said Gately, nodding. "Their threats at the world are irrational; we must show that we are capable of threatening back. A blockade will hurt their nation's economy and sustainability greatly, and also show that we will not tolerate such threats from them."

"So I see."

"The second leg, then, would be to stealthily place several ships of some sort in a position where they would easily destroy the direct threat - the submarines - if needed. Managing to do this, is harder. First, we've got to track them down. We think we've got a general area, but it's a little too vague, even for Precious. Second, we've got to insert the vessels stealthily. Third, we have too little time...we may have to call on another nation closer to the poles for this task."

"I'm not sure I like the idea of blockade. It's too aggressive."

"That may be true, but they're pointing nuclear weapons at the world."

"Yes, tracks. I'd bet a month's pay that at least vessel using magneto-hydrodynamic propulsion was here and that they went that way," Lieutenant Josh Richardson said, pointing.

"You're sure about that."

The lieutenant let out a sigh, as if it tried his patience to talk down to the captain's level. "Of course. MHD is definitely the quietest form of underwater propulsion we know about, a vessel using it could potentially make itself invisible to passive sonar. However, such a vessel would actually be very detectable in other ways. First of all, it would have to detect very powerful magnetic fields in order to get anywhere, and those would be detectable. And furthermore, the water going through the magnetic thrusters would become highly ionized, so the vessel would be leaving us a trail for us to follow."

"And we can detect this?" Mazenten already knew the answer, but the kid's ego needed stroking every once in a while. Josh Richardson could be quite arrogant, but he was dedicated and really was quite brilliant.

"Yes. This sub is equipped to detect high levels of ionization in the water. If you know what to look for, MHD vessels can actually be easier to detect than traditional propeller-driven craft."

"Alright. Helm, alter our course to follow the 'trail' Mr. Riachardson has found."

"Aye, Captain."

OOC-Feazanthia is an archipalego near the antarctic. And how big will this naval blockade be?

An aide came in, handing Macleod the telegram from Zoogiedom.

Macleod read it, and slammed his fist on the table.
"Damn it all! Now we've got a goddamn blockade on our hands!"
He tossed the telegram into the fire in a fit of rage.
"Baroness...what do you think I should do?

Aryet paused. This required forethought...
"If I was in your position, I would negotiate. Invite the nations involved to a conference in a neutral state to negotiate the matter. That is the Macisikani way.
"But in this situation, the first thing to do is to call a press conference; reassure the world that you do not wish to harm their people; there's going to be a lot of angry, frightened people out there; they won't understand your reasoning, all they'll hear is the threat of destruction.
"Then you must prepare your military. I wouldn't be surprised if this blockade is followed by invasion, something you must prevent, or we shall all suffer."

"Captain, we have something."

"What is it Jones?"

"It looks like we have picked up one of the Feazanthian subs sir."

"Good. Send a message back to command, and follow that sub. Where theres one, theres many. Fire Control, get me firing solutions on that sub, and load all tubes."

Feaz sighed.
"You're right, as usual. Perhaps I was hasty in ordering those subs out. I'll call them back, and we'll get this all squared away."
He pressed a button on a small console and spoke into the microphone.
"Central Command, this is Macleod. Command is Black Ant. Repeat, Black Ant."
He shut down the link and leaned back.
"That's the command for the subs to stop and return to port."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first officer aboard the Kranzy Oktyabr called the captain as the transmission came through.
"Sir! Communique from Central Command!"
Mead looked at the fax and frowned.
"The command is Black Ant," whispered the first officer. "That means that negotiations have failed but mission is aborted."
"Indeed. Excuse me." Mead picked up the microphone and opened a channel to the rest of the Kranzy Oktyabr.
"This is Captain Mead. We have recieved word from home. Command is Red Ant. Repeat, Red Ant."
"Captain!? What are you doing?"
Mead raised a Colt .45 to the first officer's temple.
"Preserving our future."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"CONN, SONAR! GUNFIRE ABOARD THE KRANZY OKTYABR!"
"Gunfire, are you sure?"
"Positive. HOLY SHIT, THEY'RE FLOODING THEIR TUBES! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?"

The Kranzy Oktyabr turned towards the Politoviskiy, firing one of its Mk.48 torpedoes. It went active the moment it was launched. The Wraith sub had no chance. Before the Konevalev could react, the Kranzy Oktyabr had gone deep and fired two torpedoes into the other Wraith's belly.

"CONN, SONAR! Enemy attack subs, bearing 1-8-3!"
"Reload all tubes, get me a firing solution and send them packing!"

A muffled explosion was heard throughout the lead Harius-S submarine.

"Tell me that those Feazanthian subs haven't started a new world war,"

"Well sir that was one of -"

Another explosion is heard.

"And another of the Feazanthian subs being blown up. It seems as though the lead sub destroyed its two escorts."

"WHAT! What do you mean?"

"I mean sir that it seems as though the Feazanthian sub has gone rogue. And its diving, and has reloaded its torpedo tubes."

"Gah! Right, action stations. Get the other subs to spread out and help to triangulate the position of it. Send a torpedo towards a point of interception from its last known direction. Action people."

As the words ended the entire group of subs swarmed with action as they prepared for war. A single torpedo sped into the inky depths after the Kranzy Oktyabr.

The sound of the two explosions could be heard through the hull of the Rittman.

"Report!" shouted Captain Mazanten.

"Two of the Feazanthian subs have been disabled. The third is engaged with several Phoenixian subs. I...think the one Feazanthia sub fired on the other two."

"So," said the captain. We have a rogue. He's carrying out the mission, so we're probably dealing with a fanatic.

"Tactical speed. Right now our priority is to prevent the rogue sub from delivering its payload. Helm, take us above and to the south of the Feazanthians. We'll let Phoenixius handle them for now, but if the rogue launches its weapon, I want to be in position for an intercept. Instruct the Lindo Acapulco and the Ugetnif to do the same."

"Yes sir. Moving into position now."

"Do we have a firing solution?"
"Weapons, aye."
"Fire both tubes at the lead sub, NOW! Ready tubes three and four for another launch."
"Tubes ready."
"Fire at that other sub!"
"Torpedoes away."
"Excellent. Prepare for ballast blow. Ready missiles for launch."

Two Mk.48 torpedoes went for the lead submarine. Two more went for the other Harius-S class.

"Sir, sounds like our rogue is preparing to rise."

"Move us to intercept," ordered the captain.

"Moving into firing position..."

"Belay that." Captain Mazanten's countenance took on a very serious tone. "Move us to be directly above them. Instruct the Lindo Acapulco and Ugetnif to fire if that thing starts to rise. We, on the other hand, are going to be a physical barrier. Once we're in position, Helm, if they start to rise, start dropping and stay above them."

A round of "yessirs" went around the command center of the Rittman. The crew understood it was a bold strategy that might very well get them all killed but had a good chance of stopping that sub, and to the last man and woman they were prepared to do anything to prevent doomsday.

Abbadon then got a note from his aide Sir Xan. Abbadon read it, then appeared to get very nervous.
"Get the military on alert. Get the carriers prepared. We can't allow them to take us off guard." Abbadon demanded as he started to leave the building.
"Shall we prepare the 'weapon', sir?" Xan asked. Abbadon paused, then nodded.
"Yes," Abbadon said silently, "Prepare it." As he left, Xan sighed. He knew his leader didn't want to do that, but there didn't appear to be any choice.

"TORPDEO, TORPEDO, TORPEDO!"

"Launch counter measures and DIVE!"

The lead Harius-S drops towards the bottom of the ocean, while simultaneously launching its countermeasures. The other 4 subs do the same.

"Sir torpedos have lost lock...continuing away from us...damn one has reaquired! Time to impact...5 seconds."

"Launch more countermeasures, and blow the ballast!"

The lead Harius-S blows its ballast and deploys the countermeasure. The sub bursts onto the surface of the ocean, the torpedo swimming towards the bottom of the waters.

However one of the other subs wasn't so lucky and was blown out of the water, and another was damaged from the explosion of the 4th torpedo.

"All subs, launch torpedos at that damable sub, NOW!"

"Sir a Upper Cet Kola Ytovian sub is approaching the Feazanthian sub."

"HARD TO PORT!"

The Rittman turned left, away from the rising path of the Kranzy Oktyabr but still at an upward angle. More importantly, they were now out of the way of the lead Phoenixian sub.

"Report," ordered the captain.

"Everybody's got a clean shot now. All four of the remaining Phoenixians, our other subs, all seven of our surface ships, us, everyone."

"Torpedos are now programmed with that sub's magnetic signature, sir."

"Give Phoenixius the go ahead to fire at their discression. Order the Lindo Acapulco and Ugetnif to fire. Fire torpedos as soon as we're turned around. Keep us higher than them. I still want to be able to move on top if we can't knock it out."

The messages were sent out. The other two Ytovian subs fired two torpedos each at the Kranzy Oktyabr.

On the surface, the Ytovian carrier Odyseus, along with the cruisers and destroyers in the group, scrambled their Seahawk helicopters, 24 in all. Requiem missiles were configured for anti-ship and anti-air missions, in case the sub did surface and did manage to launch its payload.

In the frigid morning breeze, in one of the naval ports of the Tri-Islandsian area of the Zoogie Isles, roughly twenty naval vessels began to move out to sea. The battle group was built around one Lunar class aircraft carrier and one Aegis-class aircraft carrier.

The 14th CBG was setting out to sea for its first deployment in a considerable amount of time, to join five other fleets already on deployment from stops around the Isles and its military bases or allied stops around the world.

Soon, the 14th CBG would join its sister fleets, the 17th, 11th, 16th, 7th, and 9th, and set off for strategic deployment in what would be the possible blockade of Feazanthia. As the situation dragged on, Zoogiedom sought to spend the next month deploying carriers battle groups into easy positions for blockade. With five carrier battle groups of fairly large caliber setting sail, we would be ready if the need arose.

However, the situation is said to be dwindling. Rumours are that the threatening submarines have already been destroyed; however, Zoogiedom would nevertheless seek to be in a position where a naval blockade would be possible within days.

"Look at this," said a radar operative onboard one of the aircraft carriers in the 14th battle group. "Latest satellite feeds show that the Feazanthian Navy - two battlefleets - have deployed in an ark-like formation."

"They're making things difficult in case we get the orders to blockade," noted a chief petty officer.

"Right. However, we're still a few weeks off and blockade has not been ordered yet....even so, however, we're going to need to figure out how to stop them."

"That's easy enough. Ten of the prototypes are being carried, one with each fleet. Should the need arise, we will use them...however, let us hope the need won't arise."

"What's the alternative?"

"Long ranged anti-shipping missile strikes and massive air strikes....yes, riskier."
