The Imperium is proud to announce the commission of the Ryuho class guided missile battlecruiser. Although plans for the new class have been available to the Imperium for over a year, the class itself was not name until recently because of a naming contest that was held for middle and high school students, the reward for which was a full scholarship to the University of Alexandria.
O-Ren Ishii of Osaka was the winner of the contest and said that the symbolism of the name, which means "Dragon and Phoenix" in Japanese, was a perfect and poetic match for the capabilities of this ship. O-Ren says that the ship can breath fire like a dragon, which is a play on the number of cruise missiles it can launch, and force nations to rise from the ashes like a phoenix, a play on the ship's nuclear launch capability.
Official details on the ship itself will be released soon, but several think tanks have stated they believe that this ship will be a combination of an arsenal ship and traditional missile battlecruiser.
