Design of new Super-Dreadnought

Secret IC:
In the labs of the Reich Flottenforschungszentrum (Naval Research Center), the nation's best engineers and military analysts, including the world renowned engineer Karl von Ostbürg, work strenuously to rejuvenate the nations naval might by building a new battleship fleet. Under orders from Kaiser Kuklinski himself, the lab has begun development of a Super-Dreadnought known as the 'Kaiserlich-klasse'. Development has only recently begun, but already, a spy was cought, impounded, and killed when he tried to escape. It is unknown which nation the spy was from, but he was found holding the design schematics to the Kaiserlich class. Security has been stepped up at the facility, as the Reichsgehemdienst has informed the Reichswehr that spy activity has increased with the announcement of the development of the ship.

OOC: Does anyone want to claim the spy, even in secret IC?

OOC: Just one question, what exactly is this ship for? Battleships went out in the Second World War because they were horribly easy to destroy with planes. Ok this thing has lots of guns but what is it's use except for land bombardment and that will harly justify the huge cost.

OOC: We have been publicly researching weapons to eliminate the threat, or at least severely limit the threat, of marauding aircraft against battleships. Use SEARCH and look at our swarmer systems.

Another spy has been cought. Apparently, he managed to break into the facility after murdering a similar-looking janitor and stealing his identification equipment. When he attempted to enter a secure zone, however, he was detained. He is now undergoing brutal torture and interrogation, including methods banned by the UN.

Karl von Ostbürg has been found dead in his home. A single 9mm bullet into the skull. The assailant has not yet been found, and it is unknown if anything, personal or business-related, has been stolen. The Reichspolizei are scouring the region for any information.

The Government of Attica and his emperor are offering a 5,000,000 Mark reward for any information that is useful in apprehending this murderer.

Erm, you are far off. In reality, Battleships were to expensive to maintain. Aircraft Carriers bring in billions of dollars of revenue for corporations for aircraft parts and technical expertise. Battleships didn't. Battleships are still needed today, and could withstand a great deal of damage, more so than any ship in the world currently in service.

Many Battleships it took upwards of 12 torpedos, and 5-17 500-lb bombs just to sink, whereas it would hardly even take that to sink a modern Aegis cruiser with it's quarter-inch armor.
