The Chellian P-32

The newest tank to roll out of chellian factories, the P-32 "Pouch" is the brainchild of chellian scientists. Mounting a 155mm L67 cannon, and a 20mm cannon for both AA and soft target shooting, this tank hunter can easily take out most of the most heavily armoured tanks it could face, having 18 sabot shells in the autoloader, and more to be loaded in later. The main features are its low cost, and low profile. It is disposable in the field compared to an MBT, yet is still hard to kill. The back is fitted with ERA, to help prevent sneak attacks by things such as RPG's, where a good hit could knock out the engine.

The P-23 Snatch is the export version of the P-32 Pouch. The 20mm being replaced by the american M-240, the 155mm L67 being replaced by a 120mm L52, and MG turret being taken out completely, to help lower the cost as well as to make its ammunition and maintainance easier for the international community. The cost is $2,900,000 USD, as compared to the $4,300,000 or so price of the M1a1 Abhrams. Any production order can be fulfilled.

The Pictures show the P-32 and not the P-23; However, the looks are very similar.

(Btw, if you want a different type of render to show someone else or something, I dunno, I can make one real quick).

Hmmm, this thing lacks a turret?
Doesn't that make it rather vulnerable to attacks from anything *not* directly in front of it? I can see how this system could possibly allow for the mounting of a larger main gun, but limiting it's self-defence in this way makes the machine quite unviable on an 'active' battlefield where the enemy are likely to shoot back.

Other than that, looks very cool.

Just my 2c.

Roycelandia would probably define this as a "Self-Propelled Artillery" unit rather than a tank- Tanks in Roycelandia having turrets...

It could be a tank hunter or even an assault gun (looks most similar to the soviet airborne ASU series). but then it could be tank if we use the S-tank as basis.

It is infact a tank hunter, I mentioned it in a different place where I was talking about it(a 3d modeling forum), and forgot to mention that. Yes, it is a tank hunter. The armour isnt very thick, rated to about 750 HEAT penetration in most placed, although a track hit can make it hurt. However, it has plenty of armour penetration and range, and is meant to be able to take out enemy tanks very easily. It has a speed of 60 kph max, but can turn fairly well. It is also around 46 tons.

The Dominion would like to purchase a total of 3,880 unarmed P-23 Snatch Tank Destroyers for use in our Armoured Combat Regiments alongside our tank platoons. The missing components shall be supplied domestically to bring the vehicle's combat effectiveness up to par with the tanks they shall be fighting alongside. A sum equal to $9,564,200,000 USD shall be wired on the approval of this deal.

We have lowered the sum to 9.5 billion, seeing as we are taking out the main gun/top turret, and for ease as well. They should arrive within (one real life day).

For the purposes of determining which of our heavy-lift aircraft would be required to move a number of these tank destroyers, the Dominion would like to request dimensions for the aforementioned vehicles.

OOC: Dont have them... Assume they are as fat as a T-72, and work from there I guess

OOC: I... I'm sorry. I can't stand looking at 3D units on this game and asking if you made that or not. Did you? If so, with what?

Lol, yes, I made it. I model for video games(used 3ds max 5).

HOOAH!! Finally, a sensible person.

lol, anyone serious about modeling for bf1942 used 3ds max, and I tell you, I have seen people get professional jobs from starting with modeling for bf1942, with the sensible program ;)

Now lets get some sales, encourage me to model another one of my creations.

Hm.

Well, I would buy, but I'm a space nation. My store is around here (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=139568&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0)

My tank is crap.... but I have another that I haven't uploaded that I REALLY like.

How'd you do the tread wheels?
Chellis

Well, I origionally made a concept drawing of my tank. I uploaded that into max as a reference. I used a spline to make the shape, as accurate as possible without divulging to much detail. Then I beveled it on both sides(individually, of course), to make them actual treads. I extruded one of the bevels, to make the inside. Then, I deleted the faces on the sides, and welded the vertices that were floating(when I extruded, there were the vertices by the vertices on the other side, from the ones that stretched across the inside). For the wheels, I just made a regular cylinder, adjusted it to the right size, and copied it across.

This was my first thing to use a lot of extruding/beveling(used booleans before), and my first time ever using the welding of vertices.

Ah. Yeah, I like box modeling,
