A new modern pirates nation is on the loose

Captain Zero leader of the naval nation of X-F sat with his admirals.
One of the admirals spoke"Our navys are at the ready we can begin operation dread-storm immeditely"
"Excellent admirals Johnson have the Dominator prepared i want to do this act myself"
"As you command captain"they all said in unsion

a few hours later
Captain zero boarded the giant battleship known as The Domminator. with his fleet of secretly heavily modified merchant ships which were no longer merchant ships. He had currently 21 in service and had no airfract carrers yet. He was determined to rule the seas and rival the grand nation of doujin in naval power. "All aboard"he called and the marines boarded and the ships began to steam off 5 of the M-M ships(Modified merchant ships) sped off to conduct another act of piracy and reclaim a new ship in its grand navy

The Republic of Meahara does not take acts of piracy or threats to shipping, lightly! If any RMN (Navy) ships or RMCS (Rep. of Meahara Commical Shipping) ships are taken or sunk, it will be an act of war. We may have a small navy, 4 spruce-class desroryers, two on duty and the other two are patroling our shipping lanes(More ships are coming), but be advised, We have very powerful friends. This is your only warning to keep away from our ships!

(Poseidon Naval Base, Poseidon Oceanic State)

The four Cunningham class destroyers, the Cunningham II, Prochev, Ericsson, and the Kannel, rolled through the blue waves, the sun beating down on their stealthy forms. Under them, two Orca class subs, the Narwhal and the Humpback were making their way. Two Sea Fighter ships, the Judge and the Enforcer, loaded with smaller combat craft, were also there.

Their mission was to act on several reports of warships disguised as merchant vessels by an unknown nation, along with a new model of battleship. Satellites were now recording their every move as the situation was reviewed. Merchant ships escorting a superbattleship was quite an act, one typical of piracy. But their mission was to investigate, and they were prepared to do so as they began to leave the artificial islands of Poseidon.

A small, cheap, poorly designed LRR sattelite (based on the Corona series) snaps several low-resolution photos of a battleship and several smaller ships before flinging itself into the atmosphere. An India class submarine is on-station, and fishes the sattelite out of the water. Aboard the processing station, the intelligence officers process the photos.

"Pirates, eh?"
"Aye-up. Send a message to fleet command. Get some Alukas and a Kirov out here."
"Roger that."

At the port of Bedford Mallard, a group of ships puts to sea. Two Kirov class cruisers, flanked by a group of five Sovremenny class destroyers and two Kynda class cruisers steam out of the harbor and into the Bering sea, looking for the pirate fleet.

A captain aproached Captain zero"Sir"he bowed"We are gettign reports of large amounts of ship moving around nothing basicaly above the destoryer class ut we dont know if there anything else what is your command" The officer asked
Zero stood and reguard the captain for a moment"Alright abort the mission. too many ships less chance of succes"
The captain bowed deeply and went to relay the command
On the outside Zero was calm and steady on the insde he was raging
"Captain identify the closet ships... put them on our hit list."
"As you command"

a few minutes later
"Sir we dont have close ships but our nation has recieved and telegram(thats what im gona call it;) ) from the nation of meahara..its quite threatening"
Zero reguard the captain"Well then we will have fun with his navy in a few weeks let's return to port gentlemen" the ships turned aroun d and retunred home

He was determined to rule the seas and rival the grand nation of doujin in naval power.OOC: Does Doujin have a powerful navy? *Is ignorant*

The pirates could legally buy their stuff in Nianaco if they're citizens, BTW. (They wouldn't keep their citizenship for long after they start their piracy, though.)

OOC: I am flattered that X-F obviously views me as a naval power. However, there are nations with a larger Navy than me. Wether or not their ships are as good as mine are questionable, but I am not the biggest boy on the seas (yet). I am constantly increasing my Naval Force, and am actively seeking two nations who will form a tight packed alliance combining our militaries so that I can focus solely on Naval assets, and let other people do Army/Air Force for me. Right now, my Navy is at over a thousand ships.

And, wow.. Nov. 2002 nation.. Nianacio, wanna trade nations? :P

He's only got the most widely renouned navy in the world, with Doujin Corp in several different countries and providing the navy for just about everyone :P

(Waits for acts of piracy)

-----

Zoogiedom may not have quite the most powerful domestic elements, but we do have a powerful navy, and a formidable naval air corps. We will be getting in touch with our good associates in naval weaponry to discuss testing a prototype anti-ship weapon on your fleet, if need be.

The Grand Nation of Doujin, of which you speak, is our ally. You rival by building up your own navy, not by trying to destroy theirs...we warn you, commit an act of piracy and we will not hesitate to destroy your fleet before it can do so again. A carrier group has deployed although we don't know where your fleet is.

OOC: Usually they'd have detected you a way's off; but then, neither of you have carriers so I doubt it would have mattered much, it would turn into a fire fest anyways...I think. Plus, Meahara's logistics can't be amazingly extensive...so I suppose it's reasonable.

IC:

Admiral Gately sat quietly reading in his office when the door was knocked, and DDA advisor former Admiral James Hurley entered. "Admiral," he said, "The rogue pirate navy has fired their first shots..."

Admiral Gately put his glasses down, slightly resigned. "At whom?"

"A small nation, less than ten million...all they've got is four destroyers. Forget the name...Me---something. We don't have word on the destruction or the inevitable return fire, but it looks like they meant what they said."

"Indeed...what is our nearest carrier group?"

"Task Force P23DG is within 200 nautical miles, sir..."

"Contact task force P23, and advise them to use any aircraft in flight or loaded on deck to search and stand by for destruction of the armed merchant ships. The enemy nation is naval, so send transmissions directly from P23...warn them to cease and desist immediately, or face the severest of reprecussions."

Emperor Miller walked around in his state room, pondering the Pirate situation.

"Richard. Take this down for public release."

"Alright, sir." Richard walked over to the gold and oak desk and sat down, bringing out a pad of paper and picking up the Emperor's gold pen.

The Emperor began dictating what would be written down, and Richard furiously began writing. The gold ink pen danced effortlessly across the paper, as Richard - in his near perfect cursive.

"... Signed, Emperor Miller, Empire of Doujin."

"Done, sir. Send it off to all major news organizations?"

"Yes, Richard. Thank you."

"Always a pleasure, Max."

Due to X-F's threats of Piracy, Doujin naval forces have stepped patrols of International Waters. The Organization of Maritiem Powers, who's solemn vow is to protect the waters from Piracy, will be watching X-F's movements closely. Any attack on a merchant vessel or national ship will be retaliated upon by the OMP. Consider this a warning to X-F. Any attack on a merchant vessel or foreign ship in International Waters will be met with force.

OOC: I'll have you only get one of my ships, because taking out my whole navy is a little much, its on patrol. Two are really far off, so only one.

IC:The RMN FryPan was sailing its patrol of Meahara's Shipping lanes. It had launched it helo and was curising along with 3 "Merchent Ships" about 10k out, everything was fine, suddenly they opened fire on the FryPan.
Ensign at RADAR: "Vampire, Vimpire!! Impact in 20!" Missles streaked toward the FryPan.
Captain Miller: Lock on with the Phalanx, and fire!!
But its was too late, the in missles impacted, shreding the FryPan, giving it a firey death. The Helo, saw the whole thing happen.
Pilot of Helo: Holy Sh**!!
Other Crew on helo: Oh my Gawds!
*Seconds later, after the shock wore off a little, he reported what happened to the nearest Meahara Vessel to be repeated to RMN HQ*
The RMN FryPan sank quickly. It was still unknown if any had survied.

"Conn, sonar! The Zoogie task force we've been shadowing just went berserk. As near as I can tell, they just turned into the wind and are making revolutions for air action." The DNS Salem had been running slow, sprinting and drifting to keep her MAD signature to a minimum. She'd been in the Zoogie carrier group's wake for a week, and probably hadn't been detected - Though nothing was certain.

The first of her class, the Salem's cold fusion plant produced no pump noises whatsoever, and the DSEMP drive meant she was a ghost on the water - Meaning the only viable methods of detection were active sonar or the use of Magnetic Anomaly Detection gear. That, fortunately, was nearly impossible unless the aircraft trailing the MAD gear was right on top of them, and they caught the sub in the middle of a sprint.

Turning to his XO, Captain Balzac frowned. "Opinions?" he asked, leaning on the plot table as the submarine drifted, her drives off. With the DSEMP drives and the Stalker Modular Weapons, the Salem could sprint at full speed and even shoot without raising so much as a twitch on passive sonar - But God help her if an enemy used a MAD box while she was moving - And so she sat still and silent, drifting on her momentum from her last sprint.

"Sir, maybe this has something to do with that pirate warning we recieved the last time we went up to antenna depth." she answered, lounging against the periscope well. Commander McDonnell liked to put on a show of being calm and almost flippantly disinterested no matter what was going on. Nonetheless, she was one of the best XOs a Captain could ask for. "Sir, the Zoogie People are friendly towards the Dominion - Or relatively so. If they're under fire from these pirates..."

The Captain nodded. "Helm, ahead one half. Bring us up to antenna depth." he ordered, moving towards the periscope well. "Sound general quarters and prepare for anti-surface action. Weps, load tubes one and two with Silverfish, three and four with ADCAP, and five and six with Strike Surge. Charge the Stalkers. Comms - Signal the Zoogie task force. Offer our services."

The pirate nation of X-F:

It has come to our attention that you are using merchant vessels to attack armed vessels of other nations in an attempt to gain dominance of the seas. Many lives will be lost, and billions in vessel costs will be destroyed in the course of this. We therefore ask you to cease and desist; to stop your aggressive actions taken against other navies and send your merchant ships home. This shall be overseen by the 23rd destroyer battle group and its respective air corps. We do not wish to take the lives of your sailors, but will if necessary. A nation much smaller in size compared to yourself you have attacked, and this we do not appreciate...that you have taken advantage of them to start your quest is unacceptable. Your quest is unacceptable. Stop now, or further action will be taken. This shall be your first and last warning.

"What do you think they'll respond?" asked Hurley to the defense minister. It was a tense moment. The new administration had never engaged yet in active combat with forces of another nation...and they certainly didn't wish to start now. Minister Dredon sighed.

"I'm not sure," he said. "But from what it looks like, I think it's very unlikely they'll stop...or listen to us, for that matter. Any fighters up in the sky?"

"Yes sir, we've got two navalised ZaS-27's, each has two AGM-84Es in their inner bays. Also got two squadrons of Hornets and one of MiG-29Ks is being prepped for landing, last I heard."

--

"Sir!" another advisor huried into the room. "Meahara's RMN FryPan was sunk while on patrol of the nation's shpping lanes."

The report was handed to the President, who glanced at it and passed it around....in the meantime, another telegram was faxed off.

[code:1:d6678c27d8]
To whom it may be concerned:

Your actions we find unacceptable. We reiterate our request. Cease and desist now. We have just received word that you have attacked another nation's naval vessel in their waters, in their sovereign territories...and further, in direct threat of their shipping. You are to fire a 5" cannon or closest equivalent straight up into the air...once if you will stop and turn around immediately, twice if you intend to keep doing so. We will watch, and wait.

'Epsilon Patrol flight, come in, Epsilon Patrol flight...'

'Epsilon lead here.'

'Leave your patrol point; make your ingress to waypoint foxtrot, heading 243...angels 25. Maintain new patrols there'

'Copy...ingressing to waypoint foxtrot. Out.'

Epsilon flight: 4 F-18S/P (updated E/F) aircraft armed with air-to-air ordinance (4 AIM-120, 4 AIM-132) and three precision guided bombs each - two GBU-32 and one GBU-31/B 2000-lb munition.

******

Omicron flew at thirty-five thousand feet, slightly below the cloud cover that day. The two seater F-18F Hornet was surveying the identified hostile merchant ships a safe distance away, and watched for the gun shots to be fired. Of course, satellites were watching too.

Omicron 1 was armed with a maximum anti-ship loadout and minimum air defense loadout...and was ordered to strike first when given the order.

Omicron 1: 1 F-18RF reconaissance; armed with 2 AIM-120, 2 AIM-132, 4 AM-39 'Exocet.'

******

Meanwhile, flight omega ingressed towards the targets as well. This was the main strike force that had been sent forth, ready to engage when the order came, right after Omicron 1, who would fire the entire loadout onto the battleship.

Eight F-18S aircraft were drawn from the two carriers in the destroyer battle group, four from each, and were armed with a completely anti-ship load save two 300-gallon fuel pods; all began to make an ingress towards the enemy ship at spread echelon formation.

Omega flight: 8 F-18S aircraft armed with 2 AIM-132; 5 AGM-84E 'SLAM-ER', 2 GBU-32;

*******

Delta flight was composed of two ZaS-27Ms already in the air, armed with two GBU-32 bombs and other anti-ship loadouts in its center and side bays; with nothing loaded on the wings. Stealthily cruising in the air at nearly 60,000 feet, the aircrafts was making circles overhead the spotted fleet, standing by for orders and intending to launch as Omicron's missiles made their approach.

Delta flight: 2 ZaS-27M aircraft armed with 2 GBU-32 1000-lb munition; 2 AGM-119 Penguin; 8 GBU-39 small diameter bomb (even though it's an air superiority fighter, it can do this when it has to.)

*********

Finally, on the decks of the two carriers, Dasher group was launching and would be airborne in a matter of minutes. Twelve aircraft in total, they were meant for air cover originally but then, the enemy didn't have aircraft to speak of. Therefore armament now switched to anti-surface; perhaps making it overkill for just 21 ships but no chances could be taken. Dasher group would split in two; one with wing hardpoints loaded; one without.

Dasher 1: 8 ZaS-27M aircraft armed with 4 AGM-84E; 2 AGM-119; 4 AIM-132; 2 GBU-31/B 1000-lb

Dasher 2: 4 ZaS-27M aircraft armed with 2 AGM-84E; 2 Mark 82; 4 GBU-39

Ten minutes later...

The return telegram was received. "Admiral," said Hurley, looking at the telegram. *Please tell me your response to my previous 2 telegrams.*

As Admiral Gately walked to the telegram, he shot a glance at the defense minister. His eyes said, Are all flights in the air, armed, and ready?

Dredon, phone still in hand, nodded.

"Good," said Gately, and kept walking. He took the telegram into his hand and read through it.

**************

Omicron, omicron, come in.

The pilot of Omicron 1 reported in; while his RIO prepared for possible contact, switching on master arms and arming out the AM-39 Exocet. His finger was fastened to the button that would switch on active radar. From then, it would be seconds to target and fire at the battleship he had been tracking on satellite feed and passive radar for the time.

"Omicron one, coming in. Over."

"Instructions for Omicron one are as follows - Omicron one is to..."

"Conn, Sonar! Contact bearing 135!"

Balzac jumped, spinning to face the sonar room just aft of the bridge. Crossing the deck with his long-legged strides, he leaned on the pressure frame of the hatch off the bridge. "One of the merchant ships?" he asked, tilting his head. Even as he said it, though, his gut told him that he wasn't even close, and the shake of the sonarman's head confirmed it.

"Negative. Contact is submerged and mobile - Designating contact as Sierra-23." he answered, holding the headphone to one ear with one hand as he made notes with a worn-down pencil with the other. "Blade count says Akula, but plant noises say no... Goddamn, how the hell did that son of a bitch get so close?"

"All ahead full." he ordered, turning to the bridge. Looking back to the Sonarmen, he leaned on the hatch. "Transients?" He asked. This close in, if they were ready to shoot, the Salem was in big trouble. If not, then her ability to go to flank speed without raising much in the way of noise just might get them out of danger before it was too late. The chief petty officer with the headset shook his head.

"No... Hell, I don't think they're even at General Quarters." He tossed down the headset. "Damn. They're fuckin' with us, sir... Showing us how hot they are." He paused and reconsidered. "Actually, sir, they may not even know we're here. It's either us, or it's Zoogie. I bet on Zoogie. Either way, though, we didn't get so much as a twitch until they were right on top of us. Damn... I'm better than this." Taking the gertrude, the captain sighed softly.

In the distance, the shillouettes of ships- probably Zoogie ships are visible through binoculars.

The crew of the Kotterdam sub would be saved their dignity. The Sailin' Shoes didn't even notice the Kotterdam sub. At least it went unnoticed as well.

The Emperor looked over the SITREP. A pirate group again? Well it's about time another one poped up. He picked up the phone to the naval HQ and asked for the admiral. "Admiral sir. I have a disturbing announcement for you. Yes about the pirates. Good then. Orders? If they are in Layarteb waters sink them! Very well." He hung up the phone. I hate these people!

"WHat is it ensign" Ronald ask the radar officer

"SIR! 16 missle coming at us full speed"
"How long till impact"the captain cooly
"1 minute" the officer answered
"Allright driver bring us around 80 degrees. transmit that order to all of the other ships."
"Yes sir" They answered in union.
the ships began turning slowly with less then 20 seconds left most of the missles missed but about 5 collided one with each ship. The modifier imploded and the defender had fires all over the place. the other ship had substained average damage with small fire all over the place.
"Get those fires out now!" the captain barked

OCC: You sank my destroyer, no ship of that class can survive an attack from 3 ships. Its a burning hulk, plus the helo is still there. But you won't leave till it's yours and we give you tribute, eh? Well I just got an Airforce so lets see how you like anti-shipping missles coming at you from the air.

IC: *Meahara City, RMSDF-A AirBase #1*
Base Comander: The reports of the attack on the RMN FryPan have been confirmed. We are to launch all aircraft to destroy hostile fleet.
*100 JAS 39s loaded with anti-shipping muntions take-off toward the location of RMN FryPan and its helo*
*A few minutes of flight later*
Alpha Flight(25 aircraft): Have sighted enemy ships, some fires, FryPan badly damaged. Locking on to targets, and wait if order to fire.
AirBase #1: You are cleared to fire!
Alpha Flight: You heard the Boss, Lets toast 'em! *All 25 aircraft open fire, missles streak down toward X-F ships*

OCC: We'll be waiting to see how much damage they do

OOC - How large is your battleship? -

"Omicron one, you are to go to bello."

- bellum, -i, neuter : war. Ablative singular form. No particular gramatically correct application.

"Omicron one reads, infero bellum isti."

infero bellum - 'I wage war' isti - 'on that [ship]'

The F-18F performed a barrel roll, then quickly vectored into position, the WIO in back instantly switching on active radar and targetting the enemy battleship. Barely a second later the pilot had snapped the battleship's target diamond to the center of the HUD, and the WIO launched all four AM-39S 'Exocet' improved anti-ship missiles at the battleship.

"Intuli bellum isti," reported the pilot. I have waged war on that [ship].

"Delta flight copies," reported the pilot of one of the two ZaS-27Ms of Delta flight, making circles over the fleet at nearly sixty thousand feet. The sequencing of the avionics began; both selected various merchant ships and dropped eight GBU-39 small diameter bombs on each; selected two other merchant ships and this time dropped a single GBU-32 1000-lb munitions on each. Next they repeated this one more time, before dropping to 50,000 feet and making an egress out to fifteen miles, where they would whip around and unload the last of their ammunition, 2 AGM-119 Penguin missiles.

"Epsilon flight copies," replied the pilot of the lead of Epsilon flight, all three of which targeted the merchant ships and dropped GBU-32 munitions on as many ships as possible (six in total), and then dropping gigantic GBU-32/B munitions on merchant ships that were so far untouched, bombs that could singlehandedly cripple them.

"Omega flight copies," radioed in the pilot of Omega lead, and the flight of eight aircraft began launching their supply of AGM-84E antiship missiles from a range of some 40km away, and switching on afterburners for a high altitude ingress to strike at the battleship with 2000-lb bombs.

"Dasher Group One reads." Eight ZaS-27M aircraft armed with AGM-84Es launched them at as many of the merchant ships as possible, then ingressed to within 20km for launching of the AGM-119 Penguins, and would go closer if necessary for dropping of GBU-31/B bombs.

"Dasher Group Two reads." Four ZaS-27M aircraft launched their AGM-84E missiles all at the battleship, and climbed to 60,000 feet to make an ingress and take out the last of the merchant ships.

Back on the carriers, four more F-18s were being readied for further strikes if necessary.

Launches were staggered; for instance, if merchant ships were already crippled further launches would not be necessary. Most likely the total strike was overkill; these are the largest combat anti-shipping sorties ever processed by Zoogiedom and involved 27 aircraft.

"Weps..." Captain Balzac ran down the periscope in a hurry. More than a few seconds above water, and the periscope ran the risk of being spotted. Besides - With the battle raging overhead, and the ships taking evasive action, they were recieving more than enough passive sonar data for their purposes. "Are we within Stalker range?" A nod was all the answer he got. This close to the enemy battlegroup, they were operating under silent conditions. The powerplant and drive weren't loud enough to be picked up on sonar, but that didn't help if the enemy could hear the crew talking.

"Good. Select Stalker tubes one through six." he ordered softly. "Target the battleship. Match bearings and shoot!" The Stalker Weapon System was the latest addition to the Dominion's submersible arsenal. Designed in such a way that if the submarine was submerged, the tubes were flooded, and using plastic caps designed to break away instead of mechanical hatches, the Stalker was designed to allow the ultra-quiet Salem-class to fire without giving away her position, or even alerting the enemy that there were torpedoes on the way.

Propelled from the ship using powerful EM coilguns built into the launcher, the small weapons were about the size of a Mk50 lightweight torpedo, but had the warhead of an ADCAP, and no internal guidance system. Instead, they were directed, for their short lives, by wires trailing back to the submarine. All six Stalkers leapt forth from their tubes, smashing through the caps and striking out towards the enemy battleship.

Captain Ervin ordered his crew to go full speed ahead. they where within 6 miles of the ship, so just 15 more feet...

"Captain, Hammerhead Surface-to-Surface Missile System is in Range!" the Radar Operater Shouted.

"All Missiles, Open Fire!" the Captain Replied.

"Yes Sir" came from around the room as the Weapons Officer, Radar Operator and Secondary Weapons Officer lined up a clear shot at the defender.

"All Missiles ready to fire on your Command" the Secondary Weapons officer stated.

the Captain Walked over to his small console on the front of the bridge, and Pressed a Small Sqaure Button on it.

226 Missiles, the Full missile load of the BFN Jackson Streaked towards the Defender.

Overhead, satellites of the Saudir Intelligence Command orbited, surveying the reported pirate fleet.

Intelligence Command,in conjunction with Interpol, had gotten wind of numerous attacks by a pirate fleet, preying on shipping, directly threatening the trade interests of the Saudir Protectorate.Slowly, intelligence was being assembled on the pirates, before a hammer blow would be landed to utteryly destroy the pirate fleet, unless the other fleets already engaged with it destroyed it first.

[SPN Stealth Frigate Fafnir]

Captain Lee of the Fafnir looked at the screens, tracking the pirate fleet as it engaged the numerous vessels of other navies. The pirates were outnumbered, outgunned and indeed, death seemed inevitable for them.

"XO,bring us on a bearing to the north of that destroyer they're trying to board.Get within maximum range, then launch our Harpoon Saudir Blk 2's in a spread.I want the ships nearest that destroyer targeted.Activate the ECCM onboard those missile."

"Yes Sir.Chances of a successful hit are a 100%.At least 5 of the 7 missiles we launch will impact on a target. The vessel directly attached to the neutral destroyer is designated as primary target. The rest are secondary targets."

Captain Lee felt a sense of satisfaction. Finally, after tracking the damn pirates for so long, they had a chance to sneak in a hit. These pirates were as good as terrorists and posed a common threat to maritime nations. It was about time to see their end.

Of course, they just one ship of the Saudir Protectorate Navy,so they would be like a tiger, using stealth and ferocity to make up for their lack of presence. They would pick apart the weakest from a distance, from the shadows so to speak, their stealth systems minimising their signature, powerful ECM systems serving as a protective shield along with the anti-air systems.

[Message from the SPN Fafnir]

To:Broadband Transmission;All Forces

This is Captain Lee of the SPN Stealth Frigate Fafnir. We are currently within maximum weapon range of the pirates. We have been tracking them since the warning from Interpol. We intend to help end this threat for once and for all.Happy hunting to all.

[SPN Fafnir]

"Missiles away!" the XO shouted over to the Captain. From the bridge, they saw the 7 missiles streaking towards the pirate fleet, barely visible in the distance.Under his own initiative, the XO had also added a spread of torpedos to the barrage, with impact time for the torps estimated at 2 minutes.

Send a message to the pirates.Tell them we are willing to negotiate on their behalf a conditional surrender. They know that they are outnumbered, outgunned and outmanned.Tell them to deactivate their weapon systems, cease the boarding action and allow the other fleets to board their vessels. Its their only hope for survival.

"Conn, Sonar!" came the call. "I have explosion and break-up noises. I can't be sure, but I think we got her first. I call that a kill." Captain Balzac let out the breath he hadn't known he'd been holding. Not only had he recorded the first kill of any Salem-class submarine, but he had just fired the first Stalker shots in anger, both of which performed beautifully.

"Mister Hamelin, make a note in the log. Engaged and sunk enemy battleship. Give our coordinates. Also note that on return to port, we will be breaking out the broom." the Captain ordered, glancing around the bridge as he made reference to the old practice of a victorious submarine returning to port with a broom tied to her periscope. "Sonar, try to find us one of those converted merchant ships. We'll engage with Strike Surge if we have to, but I'd rather pop up and surprise her with a pair of Silverfish. Two of 'em ought to do for any damn merchie, I don't care how modified she is."
