Official Public Statement

Committed as the GDMO is to freedom and democracy, we do not support the actions of the rebels. Upon inquiries by our Intelligence Department into the ViZionairian nation, we have found the rebels' claims to be unfounded. Even if those claims were true, aggressive military action is the least viable and accepted vehicle for change. War breeds dictators. Thus, the government of the Grand Duchy of Monte Ozarka officially condemns the actions of the rebels.

Having said that much, the GDMO is also throwing its full support behind the legitimate government of ViZion. Military aid en route immediately.

--ROBERT WERTER, Count of Viscosia, Foreign Minister for the Archduke Philip IV of the Grand Duchy of Monte Ozarka

Attn: President of ViZion

Greetings from the government of the Grand Duchy of Monte Ozarka.

We are providing immediate military support for your beleaguered nation and government. However, other situations overseas dominate the attention of our naval forces. Thus, the GDMO Defense Corps can, at this time, only provide ground and air support. The 14th Mechanized Infantry Division is currently in transit to your country. They will fully arrive in 2 RP days/10 RL minutes. Please provide an airstrip for their safe landing.

As our naval forces are concentrated elsewhere, we request a naval escort from you or one of your allies to expediate the transit of troops. Depending on the geography of your nation, we plan on sending:
II MOUNTAIN CORPS
22nd Mountain Division
9th Light Infantry Division
30th Light Infantry Division
7th Cavalry Division
34th Air Assault Division
IV CORPS
1st Light Infantry Division
3rd Heavy Infantry Division
14th Mechanized Infantry Division
12th Armored Division
VI AIRBORNE CORPS
28th Airborne Division
31st Airborne Division
33rd Air Assault Division
23rd Cavalry Division
VIII ARMORED CORPS
24th Mechanized Infantry Division
27th Mechanized Infantry Division
29th Armored Division
32nd Armored Division
TOTAL STRENGTH: ~300,000

Please aid us and you in ensuring the speedy arrival of these troops.

--GEN. CARL NEESE, Army Chief of Staff[/code:1:e65b2bee11]

Attention: Terror of the World
The GDMO will not stand idly by while terrorist organizations such as yourselves threaten nations of the world. Cease, desist, and refrain from any future actions against Xeraph, its allies, or any other nation IMMEDIATELY. The world will not be cowed.

A coward you are, AfrikaZkorps.

Since this weak and puiny nation wouldn't help, I will.

The 16 Armies currently ready in the Midlnaian Defence Corps (you hear the AZK, its a "c" not "K"). Each one half a million troops in each one. I am giving you complete control, all they have are Sigs and pistols and some with RPGs. They will landing near your closest position. All the WW2 era landing craft we have will be used. Tell me when to land them, not until tomorrow though.

OOC: As I said, you cant go by that quick of a time frame to land forces. TIME SLOWS DOWN IN WARS. Every action has to be given a chance to respond to by the enemy. Which is why, when you leave, I cant land hundreds of thousands of men in your nation without you.

Don't you think it kind of defeats the point of starting a civil war in the first place?

The Empire of Zaibac will open up its borders for military unloading for those armies passing through. They are, however, excluded from entering any city with a population over 10,000 and any substantially lingering will be looked upon as an attempt to invade and will be looked on extremely disfavorably by the government. Oh and if any fighting errupts inside our borders the participants will not be allowed to enter and their forces will be expelled.

OOC: Sorry....i've been pretty busy and haven't had time to respond. Daylam...Matich...stop arguing. This RP is about me revolting against ViZion...not who can land where and so on. Both of you get off your high horses and just RP.

IC: The death toll for rebels continue to rise, as we are proceeding into the millions, but we continue to fight our righteous war against ViZion and his allies.

We have encountered heave resistance with Matichian Forces near the western coast, and expect large losses on both sides, for fighting was fierce. The Naval Forces stolen from Jarridia moved swiftly near Matich Naval Bloackade. Sending up 100's of fighters from the Carrier, and stunningly pounding the Matich ships in a sudden sneak attack. The B-2's taken at the captured Jarridian Base have been used to make swift attacks at both Matich and Xeraph.

Within ViZion City, conditions continue to worsten. The stunning blow to the rebel army at the loss of Fort Elector in nothing short of an extreme dissappointment. We will not surrender. Everyday our cause strengthens as the people of ViZion realize who is wrong and right. The joint Daylami-Brindisi forces surround the weakened ViZion forces at the harbor and fight bravely and honorably. We report that we have captured the harbor region and will place it on lock-down. I pronounce that ViZion City is ours! Our forces, now numbering 4.5 Million are fortifying the city and cutting off supplies to the recently fallen Fort Elector, hoping that the enemy soldiers inside will suffer and starve to death.

Emperor Crossman....I'm happy to see the two of us and our other old allies together again. I think that the best place that you could deploy your forces would be in Northern ViZion. We (Xeraph) have just repulsed and routed the Kothian army in the north, and retaken and secured the oil fields. The wells that the enemy set on fire are presently being put out and recapped. We have reports of several enemy nations planning on cutting thru Italy to attack ViZIon from the north. While Xeraph has appro 1/2 million troops there, we are battle weary. We lost 137, 732 men in defending northern ViZion and approx 1/3 of our MBT's.

Might I suggest joining your naval forces in the Med Sea w/ ours, ViZion's , and Matich's. We can surround the "boot" of Italy, and commence bombarding any enemy army that would be foolish enough to try and use Italy for a launch-pad to attack ViZion.

respectfully, Alaric

The Praetonian citizens marched up to the front line in a scraggled formation. They were pushed right into a running battle in the Southern front. Many of them stopped aghast when they saw the burnt out tanks, or simply dived for cover. However, those who were ready ran straight at their enemy stopping briefly to shoot. Several ViZion soldiers fell, but in the confusion of the battle over 100 Praetonians were killed.

At last the 3,500 who hadn't run or been killed reached a huge supply depot behind ViZion lines. They had no clue where they were but they saw ViZion uniforms and started blasting away. A few of them set up MachineGuns and Cannons, firing from a ridge.

"Citizens of Praetonia! Soldiers of Liberation! CHARGE!" Came the shout from a Praetonian Captain. The soldiers stood and ran full-tilt into the enemy camp, machineguns opened up in front of them, but, caught by suprise the posts were quickly overhwelmed. The real challenge was yet to come, as they rounded a corner and saw two platoons of ViZion troops.

The 5th MEU comprising three MEFs has made an amphib landing on the boot of Italy. Resistance is light. The 5th and 1st Armies has moved out of Fort Essex and have begun retaking Vizion City from the rebels. The 3rd Army has been deployed to Fort Elector to help defend it. The 18th Air Force is bombarding rebel positions and destroying all the armor they can find. The 7th Fleet has intercepted some ships trying to bring aide to the rebels and they continue to stop any enemy ships from entering Vizion waters.

There was a grunt of acknoledgment from his comrade beside him.

They ducked down in thier fox hole, located on the outskirts of the city they have fortified.

"Assholes, there goes Andrews..." Another artuillery shell hit fifty feet infront of them. And another, closer. Another. Another. "Oh shit!"

Ryan and his comrade leaped out of the fox hole as it was blown into oblivion.

The calm sea and still air hid the sign of revolt in ViZion, the soldiers on the deck of the civilian cruiseliner stole the only glimpse of their impending danger, columns of smoke rising from the city.

Lieutenant Colonel Kyle Davis took the binoculars from the ship's navigation officer, inspecting the shoreline. His battalion of urban combat troops was to be the first of Rykia's military deployed overseas. Davis was worried, however, his small battalion, 750 troops had never seen combat outside of perhaps bullies in school. Regardless of his own personal feelings about the Prime Minister's decision to send troops, Davis had a job to do. And he was determined to do his best.

Private Mikhail Berishev gripped his AK-47 tight to his chest, he was nervous and scared. He hated the ocean. His sea-sickness had not abated one bit in the past several days and his comrades were already on his case. Berishev felt the tables turned, his usually biting tongue had been all but cut off. Soon it would be over, though. His sergeant had just informed him that they would be getting off this floating hellhole not soon enough. Back on dry land. Into the mouth of hell. His face was like steel, Berishev showed no emotion, but he had to wonder, was he ready?

The 14th Mechanized Infantry Division, 12th Armored Division, and the 33rd Air Assault Division have successfully landed via air transport. The 1st Light Infantry Division is currently en route to this drop zone in ViZion.

Hearing of the recent collapse of ViZion forces protecting the harbor in ViZion City, Gen. Antonio Rimento, Commander of what is designated as the GDMO 2nd Army, comprised of all units in and en route to ViZion, knew that immediate action must be taken. There was still an outpost in ViZion City that was still in friendly hands--Ft. Elector. However, the rebel mob had surrounded the fort, and what few soldiers that remained in Ft. Elector were about to face an interminable siege. Ft. Elector occupied a strategic position (ooc: make up a reason why this is strategic) and also housed many arms. If those arms were to fall, intact, to the rebels, a distinct advantage would be lost.

Thus, though the army had nowhere nearly finished arriving, Gen. Rimento decided to advance into ViZion City and try to hold open for as long as he could a safe passage for those trapped in Ft. Elector. The forces inside could make a hasty retreat, taking away as much as they could and completely demolishing what they could not. Though this would be giving up a great strategic position, it would be much worse to let it fall into enemy hands, which was eventually bound to happen.

There were many risks to this plan, least of which was that provided a path can be opened, Rimento would have to convince the soldiers within the fort to agree to his plan and to abandon the structure that they had fought so long and hard to protect. A more pressing problem was that his force, though much better equipped, trained, and organized, was still pitifully small in comparison to the rebel army. Until the 1st Division came in, all the forces he had at his disposal to make this attack were the 12th Armored, 33rd Air Assault, and 2 brigades of the 14th Mechanized Divisions. These troops barely made up 35,000 personnel, compared to what was estimated to be over 4 million hostiles in the city.

Let's just hope that this will be easy-in, easy-out. Quick and painless...

With that, the column made its way forward, through the 70 miles or so of forests to ViZion City and to the relief of Ft. Elector. (ooc: who is inside Ft. Elector? ViZion or one of her allies?)

Eric of Valtane yelled commands at running men. He swore mightily. He ordered a squadron of troopers to pursue the retreating Brindisians, but then realized that he was running low on ammo. Then, a trooper rushed in to cry, " We're being counter-attacked! The traitors are upon us!"

All around the village, the small, twisted lanes began erupting soldiers. The darkness made it impossible to ascertain their numbers. They ran around the village in an orchedtrated swirl, firing as they went. Altough the darknes prevented accuracy, the Xeraphians and VL troopers suffered casualties. Here and there, a man screamed as he was hit...others fell silently, not knowing where his death had come from.

Alaric and Eric's men were fighting for their lives. This miserable village was all that stood in the way of a rebel surge to the Fort. RPG's tore comet-like paths through the dark. A hut blazed up; and another..........

The latest intelligence reports from his air reconnaisance reported that not 15 miles ahead lay a village on the approach to Ft. Elector. A furious firefight had been underway, with about a brigade-sized group holding out stubbornly against a much larger group that had surrounded the village. Due to the undisciplined nature of the troops in the larger group as compared to the soldiers in the smaller group, the squadron commander ascertained that the rebel army was trying to overrun the much smaller force, supposedly allied to ViZion. This band could not hold out for much longer. Realizing that the village protected the fort, Gen. Rimento knew that these forces must be aided.

Knowing that his ground forces were still more than half an hour away, Rimento ordered the Air Attack Brigade of the 33rd Air Assault Division to fly ahead and to provide their beleaguered allies in this conflict close air support--any slight bit of reprieve from the rebel hordes. Furthermore, these and Air Recon units were to identify troop allocations and to try to achieve radio contact with these friendlies in hopes of alerting them to the imminent arrival of GDMO forces from the enemy's rear. When this could be established, the Air Assault Brigades may be employed if a relatively safe drop zone could be found.

Rimento could only hope that he would not be too late...

There was a slight lull in the fighting, as if the two sides were taking a coffe break. The village was littered with bodies, both loyalist and rebel.

"This can't go on much longer," Alaric thought.

" Eric, my friend, how goes it with you and your men?"

" Theyr'e holding up, Alaric. We have snipers in the town clock-tower picking off stragglers, and our MBT's are coming up behind us. We'll win the day.....I hope."

A commcenter private yelled over to the monarchs," Gentlemen, we have a report that Gen. Rimento of Monte Ozarkia is heading this way with reinforcements...their Air Assault and Air Recon units."

Stunned but jubilant, the two leaders began dancing an old Xeraphian jig..........

An aide drove up to Gen. Rimento's command vehicle and reported, "Sir, our recon units report that those units holding out in the village up ahead are from the nations of Xeraph and Verboten Lufftewaffe. Our choppers have begun to engage the enemy."

"Good," the General replied, "Inform them that we're still about 8 miles out. We'll arrive soon."

With a smart salute, the aide rushed off to fulfill those orders.

Meanwhile, outside the village...

While the rebel army was taking a siesta, the dull beating of rotors could be heard above.

"HQ, this is Charlie-1. Enemy sighted. I repeat, we have sighted the enemy," a young lieutenant said into his headset radio.

"Charlie-1, we confirm that. Coordinates have been forwarded to all units. Engage at will. All units, engage at will," came back the crackled reply.

Below, small figures began to get up--some rebel soldiers staring wondrously at the sky, others wary and picking up their rifles. Perhaps they were unsure of whether these Apaches were friend or foe. Within a few seconds, they would find out.

As the Apaches neared, they dropped altitude and, flying in formation, opened fire on the rebel lines with the deadly fire of their chain guns.

"Watch out for enemies with RPG's and vehicles," came the voice of a chopper pilot engaged in action.

For the time being, the rebel force was confused and scattered. Hopefully, this would give Rimento, Xeraph, and Verboten Lufftewaffe the time that it needed.

The Rykian cruise ship entered the port slowly as soldiers brought .50 caliber machine guns to the top decks and secured the port from afar. Lt. Colonel Davis threw his helmet atop his head and grabbed his rifle, he motioned for his radioman to make ready the rest of his command. Shortly Rykian troops would step on foreign soil for the first time.

The ship docked rather quietly, unceremoniously as rifle and cannon fire crackled and popped in the distant echoing canyons of offices and apartments. The ramps were dropped and the first soldiers began to disembark.

Private Berishev slung his pack over his shoulders, gripped his rifle and walked down the ramp, his combat boots slapping the concrete dock as the first man off the ship. Following his orders he darted to a small three story building at the head of the wharf, quickly his comrades in arms followed, securing the immediate perimeter of the congested wharf. Berishev advanced into the building and secured the first floor.

Davis watched from within the bridge as his men moved down the plank and into the city. Within hours most of the equipment would be unloaded and the men cutoff from their home soil. His radioman standing next to him stifled a yawn when he felt warm liquid squirt onto his face and sharp objects pierced his eyes and throat while hearing the glass of the bridge windows shattering. The navigation officer turned his head to see Davis fall to the ground and the radioman clutch his throat, as he turned to face the navigation officer he saw blood pouring down his neck and onto the corrugated metal deck. Davis' head was simply blown in two.

On the wharf, Berishev peered out the window at the growing commotion, while he watched some lieutenant motioning to his men fell to the ground clutching his throat. Berishev recognized the work of a sniper, instantly... but he heard nothing. Sure enough, upon inspecting the window, it appeared thick enough to be sound proof. He whistled to his comrades in the room next to his and gestured that there was a threat in the area, urging them caution.

On the cruise ship the machine gunners had finally received information pointing them to Berishev's building, and they unleashed round after round into the facade of the building. Berishev, inside the building, heard the bullets plaster the concrete, several rounds nailed the window in the room where his squad was, shattering it and killing a fellow private. The squad huddled in the back room, away from the room of death.

Finally, the fire stopped and Berishev's sergeant motioned for his men to advance through the remainder of the building, and upon reaching the roof they found two men riddled with bullets, a scope and a sniper rifle lying next to them. Berishev attached the bayonet and thrust it into the two still lumps of flesh and blood. Satisfied, the squad moved back to the ground to report the sniper's death and to learn that in addition to their dead comrade, three others had been killed - including their battalion commander, Lt. Col. Davis.

The attack choppers did their job in buying valuable time. Granted, the air was full of RGP's fired from the rebel infantry, but most of the choppers managed to avoid them. Flares and other countermeasures went off everywhere, and of the 200 or so Apaches in action, 19 had been shot down or otherwise disabled by enemy fire.

A few minutes ago, the faraway booming of artillery fire meant that Monte Ozarkan support would be but minutes away. A brigade of Crusader mobile artillery systems rained explosive shells upon the rebel army, adding to the confusion.

While the aerial attack and artillery bombardment continued, the lead elements of the 12th Armored Division came within range of the enemy forces.

In his command vehicle, Gen. Rimento frantically issued orders to his officers and aides.

"Brig. Gen. Loman, take the 54th Armored Brigade and sweep down to the rebel left flank. Make sure that they will not be able to retreat via that route. Col. Teers, take your 85th Mechanized Brigade and, using the movement of the 54th as a screen, bypass the rebel forces to reach the village and reinforce our allies within (ooc: this brigade reinforcing Xeraph and Verboten Lufftewaffe totals about 3500 people). Col. Gleason, move your 68th Mobile Artillery Brigade right behind where our center and the wing created by the 54th meet. Brig. Gen. Pollocks, position your 97th Field Howitzer Brigade right behind our center. Rain hell on the rebels. 73rd Armored Brigade will hold the center. By the time our flank is in position, the 66th and 40th Mechanized Brigades will have arrived to reinforce the center. We can then press the enemy away from the village, using our Air Assault Brigades as reserves and protection for our other flank," Rimento said with a glint in his eye, "So, this is just the beginning..."

Once all units are in position...

"General, sir, Col. Gleason and Gen. Pollocks report that the bombardment of rebel forces is going well. All units are in position," a communications officer reported.

"Good, order the advance," Rimento replied.

At that, the armored and mechanized brigades burst forth from their positions. The center dashed forward and broke the rebel lines, causing them to retreat hastily, toward the newly reinforced village. The rebels were caught in a bind from both sides. When they tried to maneuver out on one flank, they met heavy resistance from the 54th and were unable to pass. Finding the vice closing ever-faster, the remaining rebels scrambled frantically for a way out...

GDMO casualties/disabled vehicles in this engagement: 4 M1A2 Abrams, 8 AH-60A/D Apache, 9 M2 Bradley, 68 infantry/personnel

(ooc: casualties are relatively light due to the shock of the coordinated attack on the relatively undisciplined rebel forces. most vehicles were taken out by RPG's.)

Gains: Due to Rebels accessing key areas within the city; I have taken upon myself to eliminate those supply points that feed those positions. Unfortunately, this means clearing out the areas around Bei Long Base. This has meant some delay of action of those points and the offending presences near us have been eliminated. We have recently begun Operation Clearification: targeting those selected areas that seem to have support from foreign allies

Recent Losses: about 56. Due to the interception of allied messages of bomb coming through, we had to pull out of the Bei Ling Base and established several leagues northward. This lead to those LZ's that were targets of expansion areas of defeat with many wounded.

Suggestions: Better communication of those allied. We are currently busy in constructing Bei Long II Base.

The two divisions that had left hours early now made thier way through the foreign landscape.

1st company was scouting today, and 5th Platoon was in front. James new this wasn't good. There could be snipers anywhere, rebels everywhere. The next town the came across could be a bunch of rebel gunmen, ready to kill. He tried not to think about it, after all he was a Red Guardsman. An elite warrior in the glorious Red Army. There was no reason to have fear. Everything they had was superior to these rebels. Except numbers.

There was a gun shot, the man infront of James fell to the ground with a bullet in his head.

"Sniper!" The Lieutenant yelled. "Get down!"

Everyman tried to as fast as they could, but one didn't make it. Shot in the head like the other. James didn't know that ones name.

"Where is he?" The Lieutenant wispered to his E.O.

"Their sir." He said, pointing. "In that tree ahead."

"Ok. Tell the men, speak only in gaelic. I don't want him knowing what we're saying."

"Yes sir."

The next thing James heard was in Gaelic. Telling the men only to speak in Gaelic for the time being. He was fluent, of course, but he never liked it.

"Bring of a GL!" The E.O. yelled.

That's me. James thought to himself.

He crawled up to the Lieutenant, a hardened veteran of the Red Guard.

"Sir? I'll do it, I'm the best aim here with a grenade launcher.

"Ok. The tree. Blow it up."

"Yes sir."

"Covering fire!"

The men began to stand up and there was the buzz-ratle of Pulse Rifle fire. Now I got up, cocked the slide and fired the 2nd trigger. The grenade flew out, exploding on the branch i though the sniper was on, it tumbled down, a man followed, being hit by the rifle bullets. Another dead sniper.

Patrols were immediately dispatched after landing and defeating enemy aircrafts.Reports revealed the rebels troops were using a prominent hill mass, centered on Hill 1179, from which to observe all movements of the Expeditionary Forces on the beaches. Plans were immediately drawn up for an assault on the hill mass. Running north and south, the whole hill complex cut through both the enemy Main Line of Resistance and our own positions. The side having control of it possessed a definite advantage over the other.

Patrols went out across the entire front in the succeeding hours so as not to tip off the enemy to the forth coming attack. Aeterno Templars, operating on the right flank of the line, sent patrols into the so called "Hole", a marked depression in the hilly terraria of the area situated east of Hill 1179 and Hill 1100, another prominent section of high ground which controlled the approaches to 1179.

The attack was scheduled for 4.00 am and the Argentatus Flamma was named as the attacking element. The Aeterno Templars was to launch a series of diversionary attacks to seize three objectives in the "Hole" from which it could cut-off escape of enemy elements from 1179 and also provide fire support for the brother-warriors of Argentatus Flamma.

Air and artillery pounded the enemy positions in preparation for the assault the next morning. Fifty-four air sorties were directed against the objectives and 7,000 rounds of artillery were hurled onto the well-bunkered positions.

At 4.00 hours, the 1st and 2nd Company of the Argentatus Flamma moved out in a dense fog to take Hill 1179. Supporting by fire, although hampered by poor visibility were all the weapons of the 38th Regiment plus the Heavy Mortar Company of the Legio Alpha. 3rd Company lead the assault. 1st and 2nd Companies followed as they inched forward up the ridge east of the objective. Until 06.15 hours, the slowly advancing infantrymen met no resistance. Then the enemy opened up. From deep entrenchments and provisoric bunkers providing interlocking fields of fire came solid streams of automatic weapons fire. The troops crawling up the sheer heights were alternately pinned down or driven back, but each time they moved out again and each time gained a little more ground as air and artillery fired in maximum support.

To the south, tanks from the 6th Tank Company nailed thousands of rounds into a carpet of steel against the sides of adjacent hills to prevent reinforcement of the rebels garrison from the south. Eastward, the Aeterno Templars attacked its three objectives and met with heavy resistance.

As evening approached, plans were made to have the 1th and 2nd Company of the Argentatus Flamma hold-up for the night near "Cathedral Rock," a ragged mass of rock east of 1179. However, a tragic error forced alteration of the plans. During an air sortie, one of the aircraft released its Napalm on 3rd Company, the lead element, inflicting severe casualties and disorganizing the unit. This required the 1st and 2nd to pull back from its hard won gains where it went into a perimeter defense.

The first day's action sketched the picture of the enemy defenses. He was determined to stay on 1179 at all costs. His elaborate preparations, plentiful supply of ammunition and determined resistance in face of terrific concentrations from all the supporting fire weapons including 18 batterys of artillery indicated the fight for the hills would be more difficult than first anticipated.

That night, the skies were kept a flaming red as the artillery fire was intensified. Dust from the roads swirled hundreds of feet into the air as trucks rolled around the clock to provide ammunition for the barrage.

Mist again filled the air as dawn broke next day, and attacking through the haze and streams of enemy tracers came 2nd Company of the Argentatus Flamma in its renewed attempt to take object. Close behind were 2nd Company of the Legio Alpha, and 1st and 3rd Companies of the Fides Malleus. Bitter fighting raged throughout the day, even super-human effort and courage failed, but by 1530 hours, with 2nd of the Legio Alpha in the lead and the battered remains of the 1st and 2nd of the Argentatus Flamma in support, a new attack began. Moving forward with the two 2nd Companies in a line of skirmishers athwart the ridge and 1st of the Argentatus Flamma flanking in a column to the right, the heroic force inched upward. Suddenly the sun broke through the clouds, giving artillery and mortar observers a clear view of the enemy and immediately crashing salvos of exploding shells were called on the defenders. The infantry surged forward, following the artillery bursts within 75 yards, tossing hand grenades and firing every available weapon. By nightfall the inspired foot soldiers had battled to within 50 yards of the crest of the unnumbered hill east of 1179 and there they halted, digging in to wait until daylight for the final assault.

Meanwhile, the 3rd and 4th of the Legio Alpha relieved the 4th and 5th of the Argentatus Flamma which then began moving forward to join the 1th and 2nd. Eastward, 11th Company of the Aeterno Templars was struggling to take Hill 1059 and by nightfall its every attempt had been repulsed for the enemy, hanging onto 1059 to keep open his supply route to Hill 1179, was determined to stay. 11th pulled back and the Aeterno Templars made plans for a renewed attempt the following day.

Throughout the night, the big guns laid a protective screen of steel around the weary infantry clinging to their slim foothold just short of the crest of the unnumbered hill. At first light of morning , with 2nd of the Legio Alpha again in the lead, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of the Argentatus Flamma moved forward to take the peak guarding the natural, south approach to 1179. Braving a rage of machine gun, mortar and small arms fire, they finally were successful and by evening the hill was secure. The 4th company arrived soon afterward and reinforced the ranks of the first wave for the night's vigil.

And as the fanatic enemy persisted in his attempt to hold Hill 1179, equally determined rebells held-out against every attempt by the Aeterno Templars to take Hill 1059. The commanding general ordered the slopes covered with tank and artillery fire and a renewed attempt was drawn-up for the following day.
The expected counter-attack against the hill held by the Argentatus Flamma came during the night but brother-warriors refused to yield and repulsed the rebells troops with heavy losses on both sides.

The Argentatus Flamma, reinforced by 2nd Company of theLegio Alpha, spent the morning and early afternoon in preparation for another attack on 1179. Murderous artillery concentrations were laid on the slopes and at 1600 hours, 10th and 11th Companies struck out in face of the enemy cross fire. The assault was carried out with such vigor that the crest was reached and Hill 1179 was in the possession of the attackers by evening. The enemy fortress fell after some of the most intense offensive fighting the Ordo Militias had undergone in their history. The fanatic defenders had to be dug out of their deep entrenchments and it was a slow, bloody, body-tiring job. But it was done. The enemy was pushed off suffering many casualties. An attempted counter-attack by an estimated battalion was disorganized the following day when a twenty batteries of artillery slaughtered the enemy before he could get in range of the Argentatus Flamma troops.

More than 115 tons of bombs had supported the attack on the hills. A total of 74,823 rounds of artillery had been hurled onto the hill and added to that were more than 49,000 rounds of mortar which had been fired in the assault. 323 brothers was KIA or MIA.
But that was nothing. The beachead has been secured and the route into ViZion`s territory was open.

We have experienced a rebel attack on our southern perimeter as we were canning a rebel thrust near Outpost 2. We have managed to drive off the attackers but Outpost 2 was lost due to the reinforcements needed. Outpost 2 needs to be retaken back due to the importance it has on the supply lines to the rebel positions within ViZion City. We ask help in the manner of artillery as well as protection of our base due to constant attacks by the rebels.

We are approximately 20 leagues north of ViZion City. Approximately a division's worth of artillery and 200 irregulars are holding the regions currently outside our position. Outpost 2 sits upon a route that previously had traffic of 3 infantry division's worth of men every day or so. Those forces in between us and Outpost 1 are about 230 with artillery [mostly mortars].

A grand battleship, the La Vivoc, was decked out with festive decorations as Chiefy made an appearience upon the ship.

The La Vivoc was anchored just two hundred feet from the shores of Relem, a small fishing community in Southern ViZion.

As Chiefy walked into the galley, a celebration began, hundreds of crewmen yelling, chanting, celebrating. It was an hour before they began to eat - and eat they did. Party and eat into the night.
Brindisi
05-05-2004, 03:30
Hearing of the sighting of Chiefy on the battleship, John McClennan ordered what little Navy the Brindisi had to make its way over to the location. Understanding that this would cause great backlash, from the allies, but at this time he didn't care. The ship wasn't far away, and the destroyers turned the point, and the one battleship prepared for fire.

"Sir, we have them in sight, awaiting orders" Patson

"Excellent, fire.....we will bring down Chiefy and be left in glory!" Watts

The Brindisi Naval Forces launched a sneak attack upon the awaiting ship with Chiefy aboard. Without protection, it would be quite simple to sink it, right after it burst into flames.

All of a sudden, "Sir! Ships! They're fi--"
The enemy fired upon the ship. Panic struck when the crewmen realized what was going on.
"Save the President! Save Chiefy!" people were yelling, as the ship was being bombarded, torn apart.

Within moments, only a few soles made it alive out of the ship - Chiefy was not among them.

The men quickly swam to shore, and under cover of darkness, got away. They had to spread the word: Chiefy has been killed.

Within an hour, word reached central command, and it was broadcasted to allied forces, and the world.

From: King Alaric of Xeraph

We of Xeraph wish it to be known that we have overcome the Empire of Koth. The final victory came just 24 hours ago as Xeraphian, Federated Sun, and Carpathyan forces attacked and over-ran the Kothite forces surrounding the enemy capitol, T'ik Be're Kot. With the exception of the Prince, Thoth-Nobun, the entire royal family were killed ,along with a good portion of the Kothian nobility.

Subsequent to the official surrender of the Empire, Eric Valtane, Regent of the Federated Suns, personally executed the Prince. Thus ends the reign of the Kothian Empire. XF, FS, and Carpathyan officials will begin the process of assimilating the former Empire into a Confederated Empire.

Details will be posted in the near future.

The remaining Xeraphian Forces will immediately be deployed to the situation in ViZion. Approx 2.3 million troopers will be air-dropped into the northern section of ViZion where XF forces have secured the oil fields.
The armies of the Carpathyan Blood Kings will be deployed to the beach heads and firebases in coastal ViZion. Armor and artillery to follow over next few days.

The comm system came on

" All unites partaking in Operation Hungry Hound, report your status"
The dusk sky was glicining with a sorrowfilled hue.

" We're on highway 12, about five minuites from Floven," said the young man who was driving the M700 Cooper tank.

" We're giving you the go ahead for combat," said the operator on the other end.

The tank sped fast towards the town, stars in the distance reminded the men of what they were fighting for.

" okay men," yelled a rubbernecked captain," When we reach the checkpoint take your posistions. show no mercy."

The men on the other end of the comm system cheered. To the left of thier tank was another tank and a W75 combat vehicle. to the right was a clone of the left. Three a shoulder and five vehicles long, this assult was going to be swift and clear a way for more troops to enter Floven the next morning.

" Captain Wrank, we are closing in on your left flank," said the driver of a grey coloured troop crawler.

The old highways pavment was being sieged by the treads of the tanks. Up ahead was a rebel checkpoint.

" ok men stop and prepare for combat," The captains eyes glared at his surroundings. The sparse vegitation reminded him of his own town.

With a loud crack one of the W75 combat vehicle opened fire. Its 50 cal chaingun blasting at the small armoured hut. Screams could be heard as the Rebels scattered to take posistions on the surrounding buildings.
With a flick large lights poured over the Crimsdale troops eyes, thier vision impared they were saseptible to attack.

Whizzz and a crack an rpg pound the nerby concrete.

" Turn on your thermal googles," Yelled the captain into his mic.

Thier vision cleared the men could make out scant movment.

" Return fire!" was roared across the mic.

another large whizz was heard as another rpg pound one of the tanks immoblizing it and killing it's occupiers.

The fight went on four hours and out of the 30 unite brigade only

19 were left. This included 9 tanks and 10 combat vehicles.

The soldiers on deck began to make ready to disembark as their luxurious liner sailed into dark calm waters and skies grey with smoke wafting out over the sea. Lieutenant Colonel Kyle Davis stood in the open bridge, watching the soldiers below him open hatches and prepare cranes to unload the ammunition and few vehicles stored below. His battalion, though not battle-tested, was one of the best trained in Rykia. However, in a battlefield of massive nations with histories and superior arms his men would need to use their full character as strong and stout Rykians to defeat the rebel insurgency. The men seemed infuriated at the recent killing of the ViZion president, and Davis hoped it would inspire them to show no mercy to the rebels, because the rebels would not show his men mercy... of that he was sure.

An hour later, the liner docked at an abandoned wharf, obviously the site of local fighting, but apparently deserted for the time being. Davis dispatched by lifeboat a platoon of soldiers that secured the wharf without contest. The next several hours would be the most precarious, with Davis sending out his A-Company to secure the perimeter while B and C aided the ship's crew in unloading the supplies.

In response to ViZion's call upon all friendly forces to lay siege to ViZion City, GDMO forces have stepped up the offensive against the rebels. The 1st Light Infantry, 3rd Heavy Infantry, and 23rd Cavalry mobilized from their positions east of ViZion City.

This group is under orders to head south-southwest for about 50 miles and then to turn sharply to the northwest to strike the rebels at the southern end of the city. Meanwhile, the 12th Armored, 14th Mechanized, and 33rd Air Assault, after relieving the garrison at Ft. Elector, will strike at the eastern and southeastern portions of the city.

Already, in preparation for the assault upon the city, squadrons and squadrons of F-15E and F-22 fighters and A-10 attack planes have been committed to the battle and are saturating the ground with smart bombs. The primary targets are rebel centers of communication and concentrations of heavy ordnance (i.e. artillery, tanks, etc.). E-3 Sentry and EC-130H planes patrol the air, providing for GDMO forces radar coverage and an up-to-date assessment of the battlefield. Furthermore, enemy communications were being much hampered.

The Rykian battalion moved into a position to cut off a highway leading towards the center of ViZion city. Several burned out hulks littered the shoulders and Private Mikhail Berishev's squad quickly began to use their half-ton trucks to shift the hulks towards the center of the highway, to impede any rapid advance out of the city by rebel forces. Then, they made sure to lay proximity mines in the larger of the numerous potholes along the concrete. When finished, Berishev pulled out his trench tools and began digging a foxhole, where he would make camp for the day. The entire battalion was to collect themselves outside the city and guard their position for the night, tomorrow they would advance into the city.

Our intelligence indicates that we would be unable to increase our committment and not become invovled in the conflict. This we cannot do without violating our our strict policies of neutrality.

It is our belief that the situation is now unacceptable, and it is the sad duty of this office to announce the complete withdrawal of all Macisikani forces and citizens in ViZion, including our 500 Red Cross workers."

-Reuters.

As the ViZioner troops entered ViZion City, they noticed a number of 'copters, painted white, flying over the city, back and forth.
In one of the more intact sections, they watched with puzzlement one of the 'copters land, and, from the basement of a building, a number of men and women, some in an unfamiliar military uniform, others wearing doctors' coats with a red cross daubed on the back, ran across a square, and climbed aboard.
The 'copter lifted up, and headed in the direction of the sea.
The scene was repeated all over the city, until the last of the Red Cross workers had been evacuated.
From the shadows, civilians watched with heavy hearts.

The R-445 cruise missiles appeared over the horizon and as soon as they were visible they smashed into rebel trenches around Vizon city.

The M-117 fighterbombers closed to within 12 miles of vizon city. Squadron leaders dropped a small device which burst into a ball of heat in the air.

The remainder of the fighters then dropped the smart cluster bombs onto rebel positions.

The bombs burst into the air right over the burning flare.

thousands of tiny bomblets landed on rebel troops killing over 3,000 and clearing a 2 square mile swath of land.

The magdhan mediterranian fleet landed in port. Freighters pulled up to piers and within hours the 3 tank divisions and 8 Infantry divisions had been unloaded and were moving.

The 1st expeditionary force thus moved toards ViZon city prepared to rondez-vous with allied forces there.

Xeraphian forces continue to hold northern section (oil fields) of ViZion. Naval bombardment of ViZion City has ceased. Ground forces, both armored and troopers, are massed along 12 mile front 14 miles from the northern suburbs of the city. The city is in flames, but we have reports of fiecre fighting in all sectors of the city. We are awaiting recon from our Scouts and OSS-1, as well as any allied reports as to the feasibility of assault on the city. We do not want any deaths due to "friendly fire."

All allied/coalition forces please advise present positions on your assault on VC.

From: General Tobias Kenneson, CO, ViZion Expeditionary Unit

General Strickland, currently my two divisions have taken station north of the city and await my command to engage rebel forces.

My divisional artillery, both long range rockets and high-explosive artillery have yet to open fire, ammunition continues to be brought forward in order to launch a surprise barrage an hour before my men move into the city.

Approximately 35 thousand men and several thousand armored vehicles (still unloading) will be ready to launch within the next 24 hours. My proposition would be to continue to hold positions outside the city, in effect laying siege. Nations with aerial support should be requested to bomb ammo caches and any important points of infrastructure in addition to targets of opportunity. We give the rebels three days to surrender, and should they not, on the fifth day we conduct a massive coordinated strike.

However, any my staff is open to alternative plans of attack.

12th Armored, 14th Mechanized, and 33rd Air Assault Divisions are poised just east of ViZion City.
Objective: Cut the enemy in halves, thereby creating for the rebels communication and logistical difficulties.

1st Light, 3rd Heavy, and 23rd Cavalry Divisions are poised just south of ViZion City.
Objective: Sweep northwest along the coast, with the dual objectives of: 1) Securing the harbor area, and 2) Creating safe landing beaches for allied amphibious assaults.

24th Mechanized Division is en route to ViZion.

All direct ground assaults on ViZion City have been halted, pending the softening up of rebel targets by massive artillery and missile bombardments.

Air superiority forces seek to keep airways clear for bombing and attack sorties. Heavy bombing using B-52's have commenced on ammo depots, ball bearing and weapons factories, and other infrastructure dedicated to the rebel war effort. Attack squadrons support in a tactical role by striking smaller, more battle-ready targets.

Limited naval missile bombardment underway.

All units awaiting further orders.

The inside of M7 Gerush infantry fighting vehicle was cramped and the interior reeked of diesel and sweating men. The interior lights dimly lit the metal interior, barely enough for Private Franklin Delane to stay awake. He cradled his MR72 pulse rifle tight to his chest, it was only a matter of time before he would be firing its 5.56mm rounds deep into the flesh of fellow human beings. Delano shook his head, attempting to rid himself of such thoughts, knowing that those rebels didn't care that Pvt. Franklin Delano was Azazian, that they were going to try and kill him any way they could.

Despite the fact that his platoon had reached their holding station, the off-duty squads had been advised to remain inside their vehicles in case rebel forces decided to loose mortars at the growing forces outside ViZion City. In a few days, the city would be practically razed to the ground. Sure, Delano had been given orders like every other Azazian soldier about maintaining the capital city. But the fact was, Delano realized, he was headed to a massive, major city... buildings would have to come down. And more than likely some of his fellow soldiers would kill ViZionian civilians, although he himself would never live with himself afterwards. Alas, these were all thoughts for the next few days Delano mused. Now was time for precious, precious sleep.

***

General Tobias Kenneson placed his dark shades down on the collapsable table that constituted his office. Readiness reports indicated most of his force was ready to advance, artillery units had already programmed in their targets, and if the rebels did not stand down - and Kenneson knew they wouldn't - then ViZion City would witness fire and brimstone from the guns of the coalition besieging the city.

Kenneson regretted the inevitable civilian casualties, they were to be expected since the rebel forces had all intentions of using them as shields. But, he would not allow Brindisi forces to further disrupt the lives of ordinary ViZionians, the Commonwealth had tasked him with this challenge and he would comply. ViZion would free itself from this insurrection. The time was rapidly approaching.

The cool early morning air chilled the bones of Private Robert Gishampton, who stood next to his unit, a 205mm towed artillery piece. He envied his buddy Josten who sat in the adjacent truck’s cab waiting for the official order to come down. Lucky bastard, I’m out here listening to these damn insects chirp and all he has to do is sit inside and get all cozy.

Inside the cab Private Josten Buttelalia glanced at the screen next to his coffee, new orders were indeed coming onto his screen and beginning to print out. He ripped off the paper from the printer and handed it to his lieutenant, dozing in the seat next to him, “Sir, new orders from HQ. Codeword Drumroll.” The green lieutenant grabbed the paper, re-read it to confirm what Josten had said, and then nodded. “And we’re off, private.”

All along the Azazian position, the rear-deployed artillery guns and mobile rocket-launchers readied their vehicles for launch. General Kenneson had ordered a pre-planned one strike salvo to initiate the assault. Ten minutes after the order had been given, Gishampton sat at the small console connected to the artillery piece and went through a final checklist of the target data and made a minor correction to the auto-loader’s timing sequence. “LT, ready to rock n’ roll, sir.”

“Commence firing, fire at will.”

Gishampton’s 205 piece fired first, a tongue of red and orange flame exploded from the steel gray tube, the crew took note as their entire platoon fired their rounds as well. All perfectly timed.

***

ViZion City, where the civilians lived underground and the rebels ruled the streets. ViZion City to the north was unusually quiet, like it had been for the past day or two. The calm still air was broken only by a sharp whistle.

The whistle cracked open into multiple near simultaneous explosions as hundreds of shells and thousands of rockets landed indiscriminately in the northern parts of the city. Buildings were destroyed by one hit and any unlucky people on the streets below were in danger from flying concrete, steel and glass or thousands of cluster munitions dropped by several hundred anti-personnel rockets. Many had never seen hell, with fire and brimstone falling from the sky, but the satellite guided rockets and self-correcting computer guided artillery shells approximated the common nightmarish vision of hell so well that the Azazian soldiers outside the city simply turned away as their area of the city simply turned into towers of crimson and orange while explosions burned bright white light from incredible heat.

Private Delano had heard the shells whistling overhead, and stepped out of his foxhole to watch the fireworks. When the order came to advance in a few hours after this continuing sustained barrage, Delano knew in his heart he would be walking on the surface of the cratered moon. Pity the poor bastards, he thought, who were too damn stubborn to see their own death a’comin’.

It has seemed from the previous records of my predecessor that an alliance was struck between our two governments for the sake of diplomacy. Along with that alliance, an unspoken bond was placed on the premise on if anything bad would happen 'tween our two countries, one would respond with aid.

I seek to honor that agreement. However, upon review of the intelligence gathered by Fleet Admiral Woo, much of the help that our forces have contributed has gone ignored due to the massive amounts of aid given by other countries. In fact, this aid has been so helpful that the rebellion seems close to being squashed with Fleet Admiral Woo still within the operational stages of his offense.

Therefore, it is my belief that our aid should be placed when it is needed and respected. I have ordered Fleet Admiral Woo to pull out his men in order for them to take a rest from their travels. In lieu of this pullout, I have set aside a large amount of foodstuff and construction material for your country. We rejoice with ViZion in the culmination of the rebellion of the Brindisians.

We would urge that the leadership of ViZion not immediately move to eliminate the rebel forces without first capturing the leaders of the rebellion. It is quite often the case that the rank-and-file of any given army was just following the orders of their leaders, and should not be held primarily responsible for their actions. Perhaps these common soldiers can be assimilated into a new, stronger, ViZionite army.

Private Delano aimed his pulse rifle towards the small plaza where he suspiciously eyed those rebels emering from the broken and shattered buildings that had suffered the lightest of the Azazian artillery bombardment, for many buildings that had suffered the brunt were no longer buildings. Delano trained his sight on one young disheveled man who cast his assault rifle down and began running away from the Azazian troops. Delano sighed, victory had been won, the massive firepower of the coalition had simply shattered the nerve of the rebels... but Delano was exhasuted from his door to door fighting, although many of the rebels had merely laid down their arms and surrendered some had fought back, costing his nation eleven brave men, and wounding over twice as many. However, Delano mused, the day was theirs to celebrate. And celebrate he would when his shift ended... a massive party was to ensue.

It has come to our attention that your forces may be gaining the upper hand, and that ViZion city is under your control.

Now that the area is more stable, His Holy Majesty's Government would like your permission to re-deploy our aid workers to ViZion City, to help with the humanitarian situation.

We await your response.

Alaric of Xeraph
There is a problem right there. ViZionarian soldiers have a large amount of pride, honor, and loyalty. They know right from wrong, and when in the wrong, they are allowed to disobey their officers. They did not do that, and they shall be punished for it. But, not before put on trial.

After hearing of the surrender of the rebels, Monte Ozarkan troops cheered and jumped around wildly. The massive multi-lateral bombardment had shattered the enemy, physically and mentally, and the conflict was over, finally, without door-to-door fighting on a massive scale. Although Monte Ozarkan troops suffered casualties and hardships, they understood that many more of all nationalities had incurred severe casualties and losses. Many more civilians and rebels had given up their lives for what history could now consider to be a hopeless and futile cause. In honor of those, allied, rebel, and civilian, who have lost, Monte Ozarkan soldiers dipped their heads and observed a moment of silence.

However, though the armed conflict is over, much remains to be done. Much of ViZion City has been reduced to rubble after the prolonged fighting and bombardment. Civilians everywhere are homeless.

In the Archduke's Office

"REALLY?!" the Archduke exclaimed, "Wonderful!"

Defense Minister von Niemann smiled and said, "Yep, the whole mess in ViZion is finally over."

At this point, Foreign Minister Werter interjected, "Actually, not quite." When von Niemann and the Archduke Philip IV turned to him, he responded, "Much of ViZion, especially ViZion City, lies in ruins. The fighting has taken a terrible toll. It will be a while before they recover."

The Archduke quickly said, "Yes, I know where you're going with this. Well, we can't leave the government of ViZion to clean their country up by themselves. We stuck by them in the war, and we'll stick by them during reconstruction. Offer and send whatever aid is required by ViZion."

As the two ministers turned to leave, the Archduke added, "Say, this frees up much of our ground forces, doesn't it?" As he said it, he gave a knowing look to his two ministers.

Replying for the both of them, Baron von Niemann nodded and responded, "Yes, sir. Understood, sir."

ViZion City, it has been reclaimed! The once glorious city is now in ruins, and is covered in blood from thousands of people who have fallen.
But, the soldiers rejoyced none the less, as a party across the city began, with music, dancing, partying, celebrating. Fireworks were set off, cannons fired off, guns shot off.

Monte Ozarka, we thank you again. In the way of aid, we request that anything - food, water, medical aid, engineers, etc - be brought in.

ViZionarian Rebellion Ends

At this time all Brindisi Rebels have laid down their arms and surrender to coalition forces. There is no sign of McClennan, but the rebellion ends. Many of our dear brothers and sisters have been lost in the fighting. It is time to rebuild.

The Matich soldiers hearing of the rebels surrender begin cheering and shakeing hands. They control themselves though and do not start partying. They hold their positions and begin reconstruction and peacekeeping.
