Commonwealth breaks Nuclear Test Ban and tests third, and to date largest, Nuclear warhead!

Today, the African Commonwealth cemented it's withdrawal from the Nuclear Test Ban treaty it once ratified and signed with the UN. Using a modified B2 stealth bomber to deliver the military science departments latest development, the WX-2w75 "Mithras" warhead, into the far, deserted reaches of the Atlantic Ocean. Integratable into either bomb or missile, this nuclear device(dubbed a "Doomsday device" by irate demonstrators earlier this morning) carries a 75.000 megaton warhead. CAF and RCAF officials involved in the test said that it went off without a hitch, and that the weapon would be an ideal "nation-nuke", to be used in the grim possibility of a scenario that calls for AMD(Assured Mutual Destruction).

FACTS:
- The Mithras is a purely atomic bomb, deviating from the traditional Commonwealth nuclear program that relied on developing hydrogen bombs. Instead, a series of silicon-based chain reactors amplifies the bomb payload for maximum destruction.
- Using reliable monitoring software, RCAF drones established:
- That the nuclear fireball lasted over 8 minutes.
- If used in civilized setting, the warhead would create air blasts able to cause near-certain fatalities in a radius of over 110 kilometers, and cause widespread destruction in a radius of almost 300 kilometers!

While this test has created widespread condemnation from around the world, just like the earlier Commonwealth tests(using devices of 300 and 600 megaton respectively), CAF officials state that the test was necessary, since such devices would need to work properly if they were to be any deterrant in a cold war situation.

Other, more concerned voices, critiziced the government for testing a device that might possibly anger the Elias/Roycelandian/Rhodesian coalition(with whom the African Commonwealth is fighting a covert war) into deploying WMD on Commonwealth land. General Ndelebe, nominal president of the AC, laid these fears to rest in a press conference this evening, stating that the test was conducted far from any hostile naval assets, and that it would not be used save in an end-of-the-world, AMD-type scenario.

Message:

Dear leaders of the African Commonwealth,

We have detected a large nuclear blast within the Atlantic Ocean which seems to have tracked from your nation using INOC satalite imaging access.

We are curious as to the nature of this launch and would like to set up an investigation into why it happened and what damages it could have to the environment, please notes that INOC is not in the business of punishing nations for their actions and we are only conducting such an investigation on your own terms where your nation is involved.

Due to the area the weapon was tested in we will be sending INOC vessals to investigate however we would like your permission to have access to your own findings so we may have a more complete report.

Thanks for any assistance you are willing to offer,

Hans Felix, Head of INOC.

Most of the facts stated above would already be known to the INOC, as the African News Network(AC-owned panafrican news channel) has brought all facts in the post, except for the military capacity of the bomb.

Encrypted missive to the INOC

While we have already made the yield(75 kiloton) available to the public, as well as the purpose(testing for extent of military destruction capacity), both of which the INOC may publish in its records; it is NOT in our best interests to have the INOC monitor the test site for fallout, and we should like to keep it's exact position a secret.

Not only would such inspection provide results that could be ambigously(if not wholly inaccurately) be interpreted by the populace, political opponents and even the very nations that we are locked in strugle against ~ Perhaps even to such an extent as to demand concessions for the government, attacks or even pre-emptive WMD assault on our homeland!

Thusly, we will need a better explanation if we are to release further information about the testing to the INOC.

Regards,
Martin Mtombe,
Secular Party Department of Foreign Relations.

OOC: Fair enough, but as stated in the first post in the INOC thread I would know exactly where the blast took place due to the nature of nuclear detonations and various intel links...

You don't actually have the authority to tell INOC that they cannot conduct tests in the Atlantic Ocean unless it's in your own terroritorial waters.

Dear leaders of the African Commonwealth,

We are already fully aware of the general location of the nuclear blast due to our sensitive detection equipment used entirely for the purposes of keeping track of such detonations, it's fairly impossible to hide such a location from us.

However we understand your disapproval of our testing the fallout site but it must be understood that in this case you do not have the authority to tell us we cannot investigate the site as it is centred on International Waters.

Our interest is purely based on researching the environmental damage caused by your nuclear weapon, as well as noting the fact it happened and that it's nothing more then a nuclear test and not an attack. Our job is to assure the international community that it is what you say it is and to evaluate the possible damage done.

We generally don't publically report on environmental damage however we do feel it is important to keep a track of such. You're assistance in such an investigation would help us in getting the facts and make our calulations more accurate, however your permission isn't actually required in this instance.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, we shall keep you posted on our results.

Thanks,

Hans Felix, Head of INOC.

Hehe, I'm aware. It's all bluster from the tough guys in the Secular Party.

Missive from Kinshasa

Very well. The State Department for the Environment will aid you with what information that is available from the test results regarding the environmental damage the warhead has wrought.

We will be grateful for any results you may garner that has value to the SDE or our military science deparment.

The Imperial Roycelandian Government congratulates the African Commonwealth on their successful Nuclear Test.

Perhaps one day our Nations might even share technical data- Roycelandia's Atomic Weapons Program being extremely advanced, and containing a few surprises I'm sure the Secular Party would love to know about...
