Upper Cet Kola Ytovia

Today the Dominion of Upper Cet Kola Ytovia Navy unveils to the public and the world at large two new classes of warship: the Antagonize-class cruiser and the Marboua-class destroyer. Both ships incorporate a new set of features enhancing their ability to wage war at sea.
Both use an integrated power system (IPS) with an electric powered drive system. The electric drive delivers propulsion nearly equal to that of traditional mechanical drives, while greatly improving fuel efficiency and reducing engine noise (and thus enhancing the stealth of the craft). IPS also allows the Ytovian navy to realize the "Star Trek" idea of one common power source for the entire ship and the ability to distribute power to ship's systems as needed. IPS will also serve as a "springboard" technology, allowing for future developments such as the use of fuel cells and future weapon systems--directed energy weapons and rail guns.
Both ships were designed with low-observability in mind. In addition to the quieter operation electric drive provides, they were designed to provide a low profile to enemy radar and infrared sensors. The command superstructure that has been built on top of warships for the past century has now greatly reduced. On the Marboua-class, the command center is situated amidships on a one-story structure. On the Antagonize-class, it is sunk into the body of the ship toward the bow. Furthermore, radar and communications equipment has been integrated into the hull of the ship, eliminating the need for the high towers found on many modern ships.
The ships feature a greater degree of automation than in past designs. While past ships may have required a crew of 300-400 for full operation, these new ships can be fully operation with only around 100 crewmembers. Naturally this allows the navy to achieve significant saving in manpower, or alternatively allow for the deployment of more ships and lessen the time needed to train new crew.
One final innovation is a greater use of decks and bulkheads within the ship. Should part of the hull lose integrity, either by natural causes or by enemy weapons, watertight doors and hatches can ensure that only a small part of the ship, in many cases only a room or two, would become flooded, and the ship would still stay afloat. Such a structure has been in place in submarines for a long time, but this is the first time the Ytovian navy has put this concept to such extensive use in surface ships. According to sources in the navy, they expect that the new classes of ships will be virtually unsinkable.
Ytovian naval officials denied reports of a third new class of warship, allegedly being kept classified at this time.
