IADF War Games - Invasion of Occupied Island

Location: Republic of Ozymandias IV National Training Centre

Map:
http://img13.photobucket.com/albums/v37/OzymandiasIV/NationStates/National_Training_Centre.gif

Objectives: Capture of Port Mars, Port Ragnarok, Ting Air Station and Fort Orion

Attackers: Five Civilized Nations, Kihameria

Defenders: Kisnesia

Umpire: Ozymandias IV

About the War Games:
The Republic is hosting the first annual IADF war games in the hopes of developing stronger bonds of cooperation and understanding between Alliance forces. All combatants will utilize the Deployable System for Training and Readiness (DSTAR) for all combatant vehicles and personnel. As war games umpire, the Republic has also stipulated modern tech vehicles and equiment and the use of conventional weapons only (no simulated WMD or EMP attacks).

About the Republic of Ozymandias IV National Training Centre:
Fort Orion is our urban combat centre and is rather built up to better simulate combat in an urban environment. The rest of the forts are small simulated villages but really serve as military bases. Likewise, the ports are small villages with a few simulated commercial piers but really serve as naval bases. Ting Air Station is a full-service military base with runways large enough to accomodate any size aircraft currently in service.

Ancorage is simply a sheltered cove which the RN Marines use so frequently for amphibious assault training that it's been given a name. It is perhaps the best spot on the island for 'phib operations.

In terms of terrain, the island has flat coastal areas with a slightly hilly interior. The highest peak is only 790 meters. There are triple-story rain forests on the hills but there are some areas of deforestation due to artillery practice ranges. These barren slopes are generally close to shore to enable us to practice our naval guns as well.

The island's civillian population (caretakers and other techs) will be withdrawn for an extended holiday while the war game operations are conducted.

Indian Ocean--Fifty Miles Due East of Ozymandias IV National Training Center--Task Force 19--May 18, 2004 0945 hours

Task Force 19, commanded by Rear Admiral Upper Half Zek Zabi steamed straight for Ozymandias IV's National Training Center, intent upon setting a blockade and for assisting the eventual assault. Admiral Zabi sat quietly in his stateroom as he listened to his staff officers argue about the course of action.

Commodore Liu Ping, commander of Task Force 19's two carriers and a loud, massive and bombastic man, pointed at the map and said, "This island is extremely exposed... If we move close enough, the attack craft aboard my carriers can pound it to kingdom come..."

Commodore Joshua Isiah, commander of Task Force 19's five surface combat vessels, a small, argumentative man, agreed and said, "It would be suicide to move our vessels any closer to the island... We can hit the island with everything we've got from here..."

However, Commodore Zhong De, nephew of the Foreign Minister and the commander of Task Force 19's three attack submarines disagreed. He retorted, "Out here, your pathetic surface vessels are open to a whole shitload of attack from enemy attack submarines... My lead submarine, the Xiakou is moving to feel out the Kisnesian submarine force, but from intelligence, it is pretty substantial... We need to move our forces closer, at least my submarines... We should be able to take care of anything the Kisnesians throw at us..."

Finally, Admiral Zabi stood and said, "Enough... Commodore Zhong De, you are authorized to move two of your three submarines to scout out the island. However, the task force's surface vessels and one submarine will remain here and begin launching attacks... Is that clear, gentlemen? Then you are dismissed..."

Fifteen minutes later, forty-eight F-18J Assault hornets and 24 F-39G Corsairs interceptors launched from the decks of the two carriers, heading for the island, while, one Wuhan Class SSH and one Nanjing Class SSN, detached themselves from the squadron and headed at 20 knots towards the island, while the remainder of the task force, turned towards a northwestern heading at 15 knots...

Kihamerian 32nd carrier division 1355 hours. 75 miles south-southeast of training facility. May 22nd

*In the meeting room Aboard the KNV Baramundi*
"Whats the plan of action... ?"*Says Alexander Torugn, captian of the KNV Shatoga, who is a tall man, very intelegent, but is somewhat egotistical.*
"We wait until we are closer, and then we contact allied forces"* Says Aaron Keocil, captin of the KNV Lagosta, who is a medium sized and also somewhat of a egotistical man.*
"You say that because youre the escort, we have the planes, and the power in this secnario."*Replys Alexander.*
"Do you want us to leave ? they say the Kisnesians have submarines about, and three unguarded carriers would be a grand prize for any submarine."*replys Aaron.*
*the room quickly fills with controversy from the other captians, all arguing over what to do.*
"Silence !!!"*Yells Cyrill Davidson, captian of the Baramundi, and head of the 32nd carrier division, who is a tall and menacing man.*
"We will sail until we get within 60 miles of the coast, then send out reconissance planes, and contact allied forces."*said Cyrill.*
"Why dont we send out interceptors and fighters to scout the island, that way if they see an enemy position, they can attack it"* said Darian Viroy, a medium sized, but slightly simple minded man.*
"Because when we strike we want them shocked, we dont want them to know we are coming, we want the element of suprise."*said Cyrill.*
"Then lets send out the jets and bomb them to kingdom-come !"*said Aaron.*
"No, not with the jets, when the Amphibious and airborne troops arrive, that is when we will give them air cover."*Said Cyrill.*
"So, the plan is to get within 60 miles of the island, then deploy reconissance planes and try to communicate with allied forces, got it ?"* Said Cyrill*
*all the captians nodded in agreement*
"Alright, now Move out !"*said Cyrill*
*the captians shortly there after left the Baramundi, and reuturned to their ships. as soon as they got on their own ships they began to speed ahead, to get to the area and go ahead with the plan they made.*

The forty-eight F-18J Assault Hornets and twenty-four F-39G Corsairs interceptors launched from the decks of the two carriers, approached the island for the island, flying in formation. Soon, they began to hear the warbling of the radar installations on the island. Swiftly, the Corsairs flew into the fore, ready for battle, while the forty-eight attack fighters hung in the back, protected by the Corsairs.

Meanwhile, below the waves, the two submarines quietly approached the island, their torpedoes warmed up and ready for battle...

*Captian Cyrill was in the bridge of the Baramundi, talking with the technicians about, one quicklly yells out.*
"Sir ! fighters detected on radar !" *said the man at the radar*
"What, what is it ?" *said Cyrill, walking over to him.*
"Sir, a large number of fighters have been deteced on radar"*said the man*
"how many ?"*asked Cyrill*
"Alot"*replied the man*
"are they allied ?"*asked Cyrill.*
"im....not sure sir"*replied the man, slightly frightened.*
"Deploy the Migs !"*yelled Cyrill.*
"Which ones ?"*asked a man, ready to deliver the order.*
"All of them, s...."
"What if they are allied ?"*interuped the man, standing in teh doorway to the bridge.*
"You didnt let me finish, tell them to try and communicate with the other fighters, if they are allied, tell them to return to the ship"*said Cyrill.*
*the man ran down the halls, and down to hangar, there he passed on the order, pilots were deployed to get into the migs, and the aircraft elevators began putting them up on deck and they began taking off, one by one. in a short time, they were in the air, they flew in a normal formation. Philip Bogart took command, he sent a coded message back to the carrier, and then sent a message to the other planes, still some distance away.*
"Hello, this is Philip Bogart of the KAF, Please idenify youre nationality"
*he said, to the unknown planes, he assumed htey were allied, they had recieved no word of enemy planes, but better saef than sorry he thought.*

(OOC: Kihameria, considering I'm heading west and your south of southeast of the installation and considering the fact that my aircraft are practically skimming the ocean waves, I don't think you would be detecting them...)

(ooc:my apologies, but incase you misspelt it, look at the heading of youre second post Indian Ocean--Fifty Miles Due East of Ozymandias IV National Training Center but, regardless, lowflying aircraft would be hard to detect, ignore my post then. also, there aint that much space west of madagascar if oyu think about it.)

Her crew called her the 'Big Mama', but whatever her name, this lone recconnaisance plane had a mission: to look for threats to Kisnesian sovereignty on this island, coming from the east (since the subs were covering the long sides of the islands, the planes had got grunt duty on the corners).

'Hey Skip, we got some sort of radar signal up in the distance... barely registers'

'Our craft?'

'Too early to tell, sir, but we ain't supposeda have no birds out this far.'

'Let command know, and turn us around... if those are fighters, we don't have a chance.'

'Sir - got multiple blips now'

'Gentlemen, hold on for a wild ride.'
--------------------
At Central Command

'Captain, we just lost contact with Recon 2, but before they went, they sent us a message - said they had something on radar from their way.'

'Now comes the tough part - is it a bluff, or are they striking that way?'

'They sounded convinced, sir.'

'Then get our planes up in the air, and send the battle group thataways - those planes have to come from somewhere, and I'm willing to bet it's from their carrier group'

'The whole fleet, sir? Not leaving anybody around, in case of two angles of attack?'

'You heard me, lieutenant. Nobody except the subs, and keep them around the island, but pull them in close. I just have a feeling about this one.'

'Aye-aye, sir.'

(ooc:ok, so ignore my other post then, as it seemed illogical anyway i guess.)
*Aboard the Baramundi -the flagship of the division- the crew was silent, the ships were still, they were about fifty miles south-southeast of the coast, they were under radio silence, communicating via lights between the ships, the radar had detected only faint signals, nothing for sure, captian Cyrill decided to send otu a few mig's to patrol, he gave the order the five mig-29 aircraft, the hangars below deck busseled quickly with activity, within minutes they were armed and fueled and as the flight elevators carried them up on the main deck, they took off one by one, soon they were in the air, unlike common tactics would say, the planes flew up a good number of feet, as to be spotted by radar instead of hiding from it. the pilots broke radio silence, talking to each other, about basically normal things, mainly of homeland Kihameria.*

Indian Ocean--Seven Miles Due East of Ozymandias IV National Training Center
CNUS-367 Barracuda, CNUS-403 Xiakou--May 18, 2004 1125 hours

The Nanjing Class SSN, the Barracuda slowly moved through the ocean, moving towards the island at seven knots per hour, its passive sonar listening for the approach of any Kisnesian vessels. Two miles behind the Barracuda, the super-silent submarine of the Wuhan SSH, the Xiakou silently scanned the seas, patiently waiting for the Kisnesian submarines to near the bait, the Barracuda...
