The Republic of Austar Union >> Port City: Orion

It was an emotional scene in the harbour. It always was when Austarian's own were called to war. As men and women kissed and bid their families goodbye, children ran after their mothers and fathers as they prepared to board their ship. Letting go, the children remain with their family, who are pretending to be happy, for the sake of the younger ones.

It was only with thirty minutes that the large fleet was leaving the port, tears were everyone, however the atmosphere was positive nevertheless.

A large Axis Nova fleet flies through the air towards Java. Though the runways in the small nation are insufficient for the mighty air battleships and carriers to land, there is plenty of room for the smaller transports, dropships, and destroyers to land if neccesary.

Recon UAVs scout hundreds of miles in every direction from the massive concentration of air power, seeking out any threats to the battlegroup as the first transports and dropships land and begin to unload near the city of Solo (OOC: right at where the river splits into a Y).

The proud men and women of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, and Royal Army all waved goodbye to their families as they leave their home ports destined to arrive Java. The carriers and warships of the Royal Navy steamed at flanking speed for the island. The high altitude stealth bombers and fighters of the Royal Airforce take off, bound for battle.

The best and brighest were on their way to war.

Java Sea >> Secret Locations

Already, before the rest of the Austarian fleets have arrived, 12 Akila Class Submarines have spread out into secret locations in the Java Sea. Using their cattapilar designs, they are virtually undetectable by sonar.

6 have begun to head enroute to Jakarta.

The Island of Madura

There was a small airfield on the island and Al-Sabirian engineers had already begun placing air defences. From here, Al-Sabirian maritime patrol aircraft would search for submarines.....

Unknown Location, near the Southern Coastline of Java

5 dark shadows in the clear water followed a straight course down the coast of Java. Soon they would spread out to search for signs of an invasion fleet or enemy submarines....

The 77th Ranger Regiment and the 11th Airborne Division were setting up a defence perimeter with mines, boobytraps and trenches in the middle of civilian area...

In Jakarta's biggest port, two Akila Class Submarines slip silently in, and prepare to attack. Quickly, yet carefully, they manoevered around inside the port to aim at the main dock.

Quickly, once in position, they flooded their tubes, and fired eight torpedos in total, all aimed at any major defensive ships that were inside the port.

Once their position was given away, the two Akilas immediatly turned haul, and sped out of the dock towards the open Java Sea.

Axis Nova destroyers and UAVs fly back and forth through the sky over the coastal waters of Java, dropping thousands of mines in front of all the beaches and in all the harbors useful for amphibious landings.

A network of artillery batteries works on the land side of things, working feverishly to deploy many artillery-delivered mines. Axis Nova engineers work furiously to build fortifications, dragon's teeth, and AA emplacements.

Raginsheep's 1st Stragetic Carrier Taskforce, 71st Naval Squadron and 122nd Naval Squadron sailed into the seas just 10 miles south of Yogyakarta and began a highly overt "naval exercise". Meanwhile, using the cover of the naval exercises, the 4786 Marine Amphibious Landing Group carrying the 234th Marine Infantry Division began sailing towards southern Java. 8 SSN-21 Seawolf-class submarines began to spread out along the southern Javanese coastline where the invasion was to take place and provided a defence line against enemy ships. All submarines are ordered to remain on OpLvl 1 meaning full operational silence.

Airfield #201, Madura

It was night and two dark shades taxied to the main runway. After a short contact with the groundcrew the two P-3C Orions took off and headed for the southern coastline. They flew dangerously low, but otherwise they could be detected by the invasion fleet.

They reached open sea and started dropping sonobuoys. They also activated their LASH pods, which were carried underneath the planes, to detect submarines by "seeing" them....

Sutton Naval Base, Credonia
Sailors, soldiers, and pilots were preparing to ship off to a long anticipated war. They kissed their girlfriends, husband, wives, children, other family members, and friends good bye before reporting for duty aboard the naval vessels sitting ready to cast off to sea and fight in the war. The young men and women had trained long and hard and were not in the slightest bit worried about the coming days, weeks, and possibly months that lie ahead. After what seemed like hours, the last of the troops were on board the ships, eager to go to war, but sad to have to leave their families and friends behind.

Slowly the troop ships and other naval vessels from the 422nd and 71st carrier began to slowly pull from port.

The sailors and troops standing upon the decks of the four massive aircraft carriers stood at attention, saluting the crowd as the ships began to turn from port, pick up speed, and sail into the open seas. Five minutes out from port, then ship commanders ordered the men to their post to assume their duties.

400 miles south of Java

The assembled Royal Navy warships, transports, cargo vessels, hospital ships, and supply vessles assemble into a standard defensive position. The 3rd, 5th, and 6th Fleets are all assembling, readying to strike along the southern coast. The cruisers, destroyers, carriers, and missile submarines began to fire their hundreds upon hundreds of missiles at targets along the southern coast.

The 12 carriers of the Hamptonian Expeditionary Force have been ordered to begin the fueling and arming of all jets. The men of the 3rd and 5th Army Groups are all aboard their ships waiting and hoping to begin combat on the ground.

As the Austarian Fleets begin to enter the Java Sea, back in the Republic, it becomes apparent that a massive troop mobilization has begun. General Hillberg stands on one airstrip, "Right now, they're loading up into the Transtars. Should take'm about 4 or 5 hours only."

Behind him, a platoon of troops marches onto the airstrip, heading towards one of the Transtars already lined up.

Fleet Admiral Lord Rosecrans stands aboard the HNS Victory, flagship of the Hamptonian Expeditionary Force. He orders several destroyer and frigate squadrons to move closer to the southern coast to clear the way for the landing ships.

The missile bombardment has destroyed all known defensive positions in the Baluran National Park area. The Royal Navy has also begun its anti-mine operations. Estamates place minefield neutralization in 6 hours.

Fleet Admiral Lord Rosecrans picks up a communications headset and contacts Fleet Vice Admiral Hansfield, Commander of Surface Warships.

"Hansfield, I want Heavy Destroyer Flotillas 2, 6, 9, and 12 to move north-northwest to help screen the landings. Move Escort Groups 3 through 7 north to cover the LSVs.

Adrian Smith stood alone in the command room on Borobudur. He had a map of the island in front of him, and a frown on his face. he was not pleased at the way he had been thrown into this last thing. Everyone was moving and he was not ready. but sometimes this was the case with war, and he had to conceed that it was a good trainng opportunity.

He pressed the buzzer in front of him, and a voice crackled over the speaker.

"Sir?

"Contact all members planning to defend the island ask them what troops they are bringing and where they plan to defend. Give them permission to do how they see fit. We will position out defences wherever there are gaps.

Yes Sir.

Contact Austar Union. Ask them how long we have before the first attacks are allowed to commence. I need a timescale. And whilst your at it find out if the lmit on the number of troops applies to us as owners of the island.

Yes Sir. The speaker crackled out.

Adrian sat down and began to draw on the map. This was going to be tough.

Nerzan Naval Base, Sicrat

It was finished. The ships requiring rearming and resupply were heading out so sea. In a few hours a naval task group of major proportions was to be set off for Cousin Eddie territory. Emotions wives, childrens, and some husbands waved from the port, as the ships rejoined their battlegroups. Some stayed to watch the ships disappear over the cloudy horizon, some left. They knew their would be more sacrifice soon. Troops would be sent, and they were being mobilized.

S.S.P. Sation #32, Somewhere in Sicrat

There was no such fanfare for the departure of the S.S.P. The Sicrati Secret Police was going in secret, as they did in most places. They reluctantly traded in their tactical black uniforms for the native camophlauge colors of Cousin Eddie territory. Transports were provided reluctantly by the Military for the S.S.P. Agents. They were going with a hospital ship as well. No extra supplies were needed. Such would just slow them down. If supplies must be rationed heavily for a few days, such is the price of arriving on time.

Night descends on the Javanese beach know as "Atomic One" as five Recon Marines sliently swim ashore. Near by, they see two soldies, obviously on sentry patrol. Avoiding the two soldiers, the 5 Rec Marines began a suvey of a 2km area around the beach. After finding the area to be largely unprotected, the marines set up a camouflaged observation post with a view of the main raod that passes through the area. Cousin Eddie, I think to be fair, there is no limit to the amount of troops you can move around, considering Java is considered to be your territory in this ;)

IC:

It was a regular day in Jakarta. The tropical air blew through the streets, and as commerce continued in the local marketplaces, citizens were relitavely calm despite of the events unfolding around them.

All of sudden, a large boom came from up above, and citizens look upwards towards the sky. Straining to see into the sun, they could barely make out a small silloutte. As the dark shape passed away from the sun, it became apparent that a large white streak was being drawn across the sky. Citizens, began to be afraid, what was of the shape above them, was this a part of the invasion?

Their answer came, as a series of booms came from above, and soon the sky was littered with paratroopers. So this was the famous Transtar...

As some 300 000 paratroopers drifted to the ground, they organised themselves into Platoons, and as landing, they ran straight to their nearest government or military control center, killing any soldiers or armed mitilia they see.

The Austarians had done the unexpected, they had infiltrated the Java capital. The fighting had begun....

Aboard the HNS Victory, Fleet Admiral Lord Rosecrans looks at communiques. LSVs and LSV-TT have delivered over 50,000 Royal Army soldiers and Royal Marines in the Baluran National Park area. The heavy guns of field artillery bombarded the defensive positions while tanks and attack helicopters attacked the defenders. The troops have managed to establish a beachhead and are only 40km south of the city Baluran itself. The amphibous carriers and amphibious warships of the Royal Navy are lending their firepower to the fight as well as their jets. The high-altitude stealth bombers have begun their runs on the cities of Baluran and Surabaya.

Fleet Admiral Lord Rosecrans also came across some disturbing reports. A large fleet of ships from Sicrat is rumored to be moving to reinforce Cousin Eddie. Without knowning which direction Sicrat is coming from, Lord Rosecrans orders Fleet Vice Admiral Hansfield, Commander of Surface Warships, to deploy all Escort Groups to protect the Carriers and Supply ships.

The Heavy Destroyer Flotillas and Submarine Squadrons under the command of Fleet Vice Admiral Paulssen are patroling the seas around the Fleet in order to spot the Sicrat ships if the rumors are indeed true.

IC:
Adrian heard the shouting and gunshots before his mind had registered the vehicle flying over. He shut the laptop and grabbed the maps, and bolted for the door. Not bothering to look out the window, he dodged past the armed men heading for the front of the building and left via the back. a helicopter was sitting on the grass waiting for him. He threw his stuff into the chopper and jumped in. The co-pilot entered through the adjacent door.
As the engine started up, Adrian turned to the other soldier.

"What's going on?"

"Its an attack. They have landed a huge amount of paratroopers into the city and started moving towards the government buildings."

Adrian nodded. His intuition had been right. Fortunately he had been prepared, and civilians had been ejected from the centre of the city, and troops had been brought in. But not enough to deal with an army. "Lets get out of here then."

The chopper lifted off the ground at his command and flew over the city. Looking down he saw the mass of troops swarming over the ground like a huge army of ants. The war had begun.

His primary action was to escape. But nevertheless he jammed his finger down on the trigger as he swooped over the paratroopers, and unleashed the rockets hanging from the chopper. They plunged into the vast mass of troops assembling beneath him, showering concrete over the city centre.

As he looked his troops within the building he has just escaped from began returning fire from within the building. As the Austar troops approached, more men began to fire out of the buildings running parallel to the government house. Adrian smiled. They had caught him surprised, but not unprepared.

His helicopter dissapeared over the city, as the battle beneath him raged on.

Al-Sabir is protecting Surabaya and on the island of Madura, with helicopter troops supporting Jakarta. (Perhaps you could RP them joining the combat.)

Axis Nova (who is currently absent) is in Solo.

Perhaps between the two of you you can look at holding that end of the island.

Sicrat has sent elite troops but no positions as yet. Perhaps you could move towards the west end of the island? Let me know.

BTW, this info is OOC. So please can the attacking team not use this in IC comments.

Several of the Austarian Platoons surrounded the compound where his troops were in. Quickly, the Austarians established temporary barracades to provide cover from the firing.

100,000 feet over the Raginsheepian fleet, an Axis Nova air battleship swivels it's ventral guns to point straight down, corrects for motion, and begins firing. Massive bomb bays open, and a rain of IJADMs begins to fall.

The hangar bays of a massive carrier open wide, and a cloud of ground attack UAVs vomit forth, soon followed by an escort of air combat types. The massive group of UAVs soon shakes itself into shape, and begins to dive towards the enemy fleet far below. 8 destroyers follow, beginning to lob their own shells and missiles.

(note: The big guns on the battleship are 280mm rifles. The guns on the destroyers are 90mms. The I in IJDAMS means Improved... basically they're JDAMs with a higher payload and a bit more accurate.)

---On land---

The Axis Nova ground forces continue to dig in, and their rocket howitzers provide fire support to any allied unit that asks, firing off salvos and moving away before any counterbattery fire can be issued.

Captain Jessir Ali walked through the cold and dark hallway, which led to the briefing room. He opened the old wooden door and entered the room. Inside his wingman, several other pilots and the commander of the squadron, Major Omar Johnson, were gathered around a table. A map of Java lay on the table. Omar nodded to Jessir and turned around. "Good, now that we are all here, I'll start the briefing. As you may already know, Hamptonshire's forces have secured the city of Baluran and Austarian troops have landed near Jakarta. Our job is to slow the advance of Hamptonshire's forces and to support Cousin Eddie's troops in Jakarta. The EA-220 Bombers are operating from the carrier and they will strike the the troops in the east. We'll strike the enemy troops near Jakarta. Here's a detailed flight plan....

Jessir and his wingman flew low over the green jungle. The weak moonlight shone through the cockpit's bubble-shaped canopy. Captain Ali smiled and checked his instruments. His bird was heavily armed: ten AGM-65 Maverick missiles and the large Avenger 30mm cannon was fully loaded with uranium-depleted rounds. They would rain death and fire on the attackers, he was sure about that....

Jakarta

In the meantime, the Austarians seemed to encountering little resistance in securing Jakarta. It seemed so far, that Jakarta had been taken, with fighting slowing with Cousin Eddie troops in the city center. It still wasnt a safe place, but it was secure never-the-less.

As it became apparent that the war-effort had been swinging heavily in the invaders favour, the Austarians began to spread west and south, attempting to take control of the western section of Java. No fighting had been reported yet, so a temporary airstrip was established just to the west of Jakarta. Aircraft had already begun flying in.

In the skies, two squadrons patrolled Jakarta airspace, rotating every three hours.

The skies over Jakarta

48 dark shades appeared above the city, 24 EA-135As and 24 A-10 Thunderbolts. Captain Ali shifted uncomfortably in his seat. He knew the Austarians would have fighter support, but the EA-135s would take care of them. He saw a convoy of vehicles below him, a bunch of trucks and APCs were driving through the dusty streets of the capital, propably on their way to supply combat troops in the southern part of the city. He turned his plane and descended. He saw truck divers abandon their vehicles, searching for cover, but some of the men had SAM launchers and they were waiting for the plane to come within range. He had to be quick. He aimed and fired. The big GAU/8 Avenger gun began blasting 30mm rounds at a rate of 65 per second to the vehicles. Jessir almost felt sorry for the men down there. Most of them would propably be brutally ripped apart by the shells...

(OOC: Just a note, there are almost no fighters or missiles that can make it to 100,000 feet, at least not going straight up :|)

The UAV formation springs apart like a swarm of bees, shooting out in every direction as missiles chase them down. Several are taken down due to their operators being a little slow, but most evade the missiles through sheer speed and maneuverability, pulling Gs that would kill a human pilot. The ground attack UAVs arn't so lucky, unfortunately, and 18 of them keel over, and start the long fall to the ground, trailing smoke behind them.

One of the UAVs, finished with it's evasive maneuvers, launches two large, fat missiles. About halfway to the largest concentration of Ragin, the missiles each break into two, then the submissiles split again, making 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, and finally 64 micromissiles that send a wave of explosions across the Ragin formation. Other UAVs follow similar tactics, or launch more conventional radar-guided or IR-guided missiles, or even use their immense speed and maneuverability to close to knife range and open up with their guns.

Above, the fleet continues to fire, it's air defense systems opening up to engage the few missiles capable of reaching them. Anti-missiles streak downwards, and the single missile that makes it through is torn apart by a sustained burst from one of the battleship's calliope turrets.

Below, the first of the ground attack UAVs reaches attack range, and six canisters fall from it's munitions hardpoints. As soon as they reach a certain altitude, they detonate, releasing a flaming gel that is hot enough to melt even steel with prolonged exposure! The other UAVs, as soon as they get in range, begin releasing their own payloads of super napalm, high-payload penetrator bombs, or firing missiles and rockets at targets of opportunity. Unfortunately, their operators are a bit too eager-- another dozen are taken out by the point defenses of the fleet before they even get in range.

Suddenly, large contacts are picked up on radar-- a second Axis Nova detachement has been detected closing with the Ragin fleet at a lower altitude! Fortunately for the Ragin fleet, however, this one seems to be composed entirely of 18 destroyers, with no air battleships or carriers with them.

(Just a few notes: My UAVs can pull more Gs and maneuver more tightly since they have no human pilot on board. And btw, I will have the 100,000 foot fleet descend after a while... so you will get a better shot at them. As for the super-hot napalm stuff, check AN's posts a while back for the napalm research thread. This stuff obviously isn't chemically napalm, but I just call it super napalm for convenience purposes.)
