New Light machine gun and police weapon
Rechambered 12.7 mm M-16
http://www.webmutants.com/strategypage/m1650.jpg
Specs:
Caliber: 12.7mm(.50 caliber)
Weight: 6.3 pounds unloaded. Each round weighs 1.1 rounds.
Length: 36.2 inches
The new 12.7mm M-16 was designed for special forces and law enforcement officers against re-enforced structures, vehicles, and advanced body armor. The mini-.50 round(a regular .50 inside a shortened casing and with less powder allowing for lower recoil) punches right through armored glass that resists 7.62mm fire, as do doors, locks, cinder blocks, and engine blocks. Since the rifle is only slightly longer and heavier than a 5.56mm design, it can be used in close range combat and other rapid fire encounters.
The rifle also comes with a bipod and 100 round drum magazine, allowing it to be used as a lightwieght squad automatic weapon that is more easily portable than most current light machine guns including the M-60 and SAW.
Cost: 2,500 dollars per unit(Bipod and drum magazines included)

If this is only slightly heavier and larger than the M-16 rifle, and it is automatic, how can anyone control it in firing?

I don't think you fire it on automatic....or at least the ISD won't. It seems like a great tool to screw up cars and punch through walls, though.

Automatic while standing? No it would be hard to control, however with the bipod; short, controled, bursts of automatic fire are possible.

OOC:Sorry to be a nitpick, but the Leitner-Wise Rifle Company's rechambered M-16 pictured is chambered in .499 LWR. Not 12.7mm.
But nice to see someone else embracing the concept.
(The Mini ".50" is used here in Designated Marksmen Rifles for closer range engagements against armored targets.)

-It appears that our nation has taken an affinity to this particular adaptation of this weapon, and we would like to formally adopt it as our primary light machine gun. We are willing to discuss possible terms for an arms production contract in the near future if you are so interested.
Why dont you just use .50 AE?

OOC: .50 AE is a pistol round, it has a flat head and isn't designed to go through armor. I'm guessing this round falls somewhere between these:

Or a Barret .50 anti-tank rifle could do the trick ;)
I assume you would fire it in bursts, not automatically as a .50. Unless you have a tripod or bipod that is.
.50 AE would allow for full auto, and more clip size...

OOC:Less hitting power. I doubt .50 AE will penentrate armor that will stop 7.62mm NATO. And less accuracy. .50 AE might work in a submachinegun, but not as a rifle or LMG.
ill take like 2million
cheers

OOC: To help clear things up, the weapon pictured actually does fire a short .50 round, I just thought it was a really great idea

OOC: I am glad you said it was smaller than the normal 50 cal round.
If it was 50 BMG, it would blow you onto your a$$!

sorry to say to the Pope, your country couldn't afford that, its only 3 days old and that would take up 95% or so of your budget.

The SDF believes that a fair price for production rights would be the equivalent purchase of 2 million units of said weapon. That being said, the government of Schultaria Prime is willing to pay $5,000,000,000 to acquire production rights as soon a immediately possible.
.50 AE is like 12.7x25mm... If it wasnt able to penetrate body armour, it would sure knock the person down... And it would easily pop tires, break windows, etc... but hey, ur choice...

OOC:
the rifle in the image is as mentioned by New Empire designed for the .499 LWR round which is in turn a much modified .50AE.
the .50beowulf round is very similar to the .499LWR.
A simply shortened .50BMG won't work through an M16 lower receiver as the case is far far too wide (being roughly 25mm across almost exactly the same size as the M1019 25mm grenade rounds).
A round based on a lengthened .50AE would work very well and feed through a M16 lower receiver perfectly well and there are a number of them available includign the 2 already mnetioned and other insane rounds such as .458SOCOM "monster".
.50AE is actually even more powerful when used in rifles and has interesting effects on hardened targets like aircraft widescreens. it may not rip though Lvl3 body armor but it will still kill if it hits due to the massive blunt trauma (yet another fairly massive "mistake" from Charlie's Angels 2).
Exham my appologies i just had to clear a few things, of course now i will need to hunt you down for using that image...

Ok your not going to be able to fire the standard .50 Browning (12.7 x 99mm) bullet on either rapid or burst automatic fire. If you did, you would need some kind of extra special anti-recoil system which would drastically change the external look of the gun.
Using the .50 Action Express round in either a submachine gun or assualt rifle would not be in the least bit practical, as the barrel would have to be heavy and the rate of fire extremely slow.
