President of the Huac denounces Communists worldwide
The Huac

DRANA—In a fiery speech at the Capitol building yesterday, Tanak Ramoz, President of the Jingoistic States of the Huac, denounced Communists throughout the world. "Their subversive ideas endanger everything we hold dear in the free world!" he cried while shaking his fist. "We the capitalist nations of the planet ought not to allow the threat of Communist revolutionaries to bind us in fear any longer!"
Ramoz's declarations were met with thunderous applause by the members of the Senate throughout his speech, the most vociferous outcry heard here since the end of the Cold War. Ramoz, an ultra-conservative president elected by an overwhelming majority last year, promised in his speech that words would be the least of his actions against "those who would overthrow our capitalist way of life". He said that though the end of the Cold War was a major victory in the struggle against Communism, "there remain many battles to fight". He wishes to back any and all United Nations resolutions limiting the power of socialist states, and refuses to establish diplomatic relations with them.
Many protestors gathered around the Capitol building to demonstrate against the hard line taken by the President, though police kept a tight grip on all their actions and arrested 47 of them. "The policies of this President are absolutely ridiculous," says Aron Dar, a young college student. "Communism is the least of this nation's worries. What Ramoz ought to do is concentrate on the many problems within our country, such as lack of civil rights. The police harass us so as to have an excuse to arrest us, and the courts always sympathize with them. What kind of law enforcement is that?"
The police forces refused to comment on these allegations.
Ramoz will take a two-week trip to the other nations of his region to muster support for his foreign policies.
Hattia is angry at the libel and slander spread by the government of the The Huac. Hattia has much more freedom than any oppressed citizen of The Huac. We request that President Ramoz refrain from such further statements. They aren't good for international relations.
"Short of endorsing your national policy we do support an active role in limiting a position whereby a communist policy system could subvert the authority from true democracy and freedom in a polictical and ecnomic sense"

Official press statement: "We the Dictatorship of the Laborers proclaim that the Jingoistic States of the Huac is an unstable, dangerous nation which ought to be watched carefully by the United Nations. We stand by Hattia and all other socialist nations against these dire threats made by the Huac. We beg all our socialist comrades to denounce this nation and its allies, for the good of the entire world. President Tanak Ramoz and his government, and thus their oppressed working class, will suffer for the animosity they have created between themselves and the numerous socialist nations in the world, and their refual to trade with them. However, the Dictatorship of the Laborers will not seek action against the Huac, unless the Huac makes a first strike."
Neo-Soviet Russia

The United Socialist States of Neo-Soviet Russia finds these calls of action, of ignorance, of hate absurb. President Ramoz speaks of Communist and Socialism as if it were a plague. Why is it that nations who choose to follow the path of Socialism, if not Communism, are painted as evil when, through all the years of the USSNSRs being, it seems that a majority of the time it is the Capitalist nations that start pulling the strings and increasing tension? Why is it that our choice is looked down apon when it is that, our choice, our beliefs, our way of life? We would like to suggest the following to 'President' Ramoz: Concern yourself with your own people, who are oppressed even with this supposedly glorious way of life that Huac has before worrying about Socialistic nations which have done nothing towards you, nor have treated their people so illy.

The Representative Speaker to the Queen talks to the press
Holy Erat is appaled by the president of Huac's message. But, Holy Erat will not go far as to denounce the country that so much hates communism and socialism as well. Holy Erat government has analyzed this scenario and other forward attacks/ statements from The Huac would imply little influence to the international public. There are so many anti- socialist countries out there, a little shout from The Huac is tolerable. The government has decided to stop all foreign trade, aid, and possible alliance with this nation. Holy Erat will not denounce this country, we will just ignore Huac administration. Thank you ladies and gentlemen.

In a response to another round of international criticism of Socialist and Communist States, Central Director Elliot Schultz made the following announcement to the international community in front of the Schultarian National Assembly.
"The wholesale denouncement of all liberal and socially conscious national welfare states is a very stereotypically narrow-minded assault on all nations who wish to only further serve the needs of their people. We as both a nation and a culture are completely incensed with the constant bombardment of anti-socialist rhetoric, though we will not act militarily on empty ideological threats alone. Rather, Schultaria Prime will act in an equal manner to the nation of The Huac as they act to all Socialist Nations.
The United Socialist States of Schultaria Prime will not recognize the current government of The Huac as an official national entity. We shall not extend any financial assistance nor provide any humanitarian relief to their nation unless extreme circumstances apply. Until such time as the current administration both loosens political or civil freedoms Schultaria Prime will follow the Nation of Hattia's lead and direct all other members of The International to avoid direct discourse with such biased nations."

Arn-Maciska, the Holy Empire of Maciskan.
Statement issued today from the office of The Right Rev. Father in God Serpens Aldir, by Divine Permission Lord Bishop of Valden, Minister for External Affairs.
"We have recieved word of recent remarks made by the President of The Huac. After extended analysis, we have concluded that these remarks are nothing more than a rehash of similar statements aired by many nations around the world, albiet with greater hostility.
We find it amazing that such statements can be made by those who profess to hold the tenent of free speech and freedom of choice dear; that they wish to interfere with other nations' and to force their ideologies upon other nations.
While the President has every right to make these comments, it is regretful that such comments were made, as they are likely to create much anger and friction in sections of the international community.
It is our hope that the peoples of The Huac may be able to one day embrace their fellow man in the spirit of brotherhood and friendship.
However, we cannot ignore the hostile threatening tone of this message of hatred, and to that effect, while we shall not denounce it, the Holy Empire of Macisikan, its dominions and colonies, do hereby cease to recognise the existence of the nation of The Huac."

ViZion, though not a communist, strongly disagrees with the views of Huac's Government. Though we feel you have the right to express how your government feels, we do not feel you have the right to restrict other nations from diplomatic relations with a form of government that it merely disagees with. It is one thing to do this with a genocidal government, it's another when it comes to a form of government that does not commit crimes against its people or others.
We urge your nation not to go on an agressive campaign against communist, for your sake and your peoples sake.

Chellis, while not exactly agreeing with the president, offers him a tour of the seemingly perfect free market economy that is chellis, and perhaps talks can occur between the president and the dictator of chellis.

Reporter "Chancellor! CHANCELLOR!! What is the governement's position on the recent popularity of Anticommunism world-wide, and the Huac President's Speech yesterday?"
She stops, turns, and leans on her cane, with a smirk.
Chancellor Ngo: "I saw a tape of that... You want to know what I think... Well, at least they aren't Pinkos. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have actual work to do."
She turns, and hobbles up the steps.

Secondly, True Socialist support civil and political rights to acheive their aims of economic equality, differing from the Maoist Socialist who beleve in neither.
Press Room, The Citadel of Rykesgrad
live on Rykian News Network
The gaunt Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lawrence Coleridge, lightly tapped his wire frame glasses in order to reduce the incredibly bright glare from the cameras. At moments like these he wished he wore contacts.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the press. I come before you today in an attempt to redress apparent grievances some governments in this world appear to have with states of a socialist bent.
"Since 1848 many leaders have claimed the birth of a Communist state. But many of those leaders have made false claims. Communism as a theoretical state calls for a classless society, in effect a stateless-nation of workers. Now, I do grant that given the nature of mankind, such a state is not likely to be formed - at least anytime in the near future. However, in an analysis of many allegedly Communist states we find not the proletariat abolishing private property and working for the workers. Instead, we find the bourgeoisie controlling the government merely consolidating their hold on power at the expense of the proletariat. So firstly, I beg to differ with President Ramoz. Not all Communist ideas are subversive. Unless he means to say that equality, fair-treatment, and the safety and protection of the weak are subversive ideas. And should that be the case, I must say this government is opposed to President Ramoz's claims.
"However, the government of this republic recognizes the right of an individual leader to hold his or her beliefs. Our primary concern is the well-being of our citizens. And my duty is to safe-guard my people through enacting and reacting to foreign policy throughout the globe. As such, this country's main issue is with President Ramoz's call to limit the power of socialist states. While we recognize his government's right to refuse diplomatic relations, we offer them in the hope of fostering a deeper understanding of our democratic socialism.
"The Republic of Rykia was founded on the principles of civil liberties. We owe a great deal of our society to those most often thought of as the founders of liberal democratic thought, John Locke, Kant, and others. In our interpretation and understanding of the philosophies behind what Mr. Ramoz labeled the free world, leads us to believe that all men are created equal and should all have the equal opportunity to acheive equal success as any other. In a world of pure capitalism one finds that quickly a rigid class structure develops in which it becomes impossible for some to find an opportunity to make something of their lives.
"The Republic of Rykia consequently finds itself in a position where in order to safeguard freedoms, some sacrifices must be made. Higher taxes ensure an outstanding education and excellent social welfare programs; the combination of the two providing for an educated and sophisticated workforce more than capable of competing in the free open markets. Several industries are heavily subsidized, but these are industries vital to the national security interests of the nation.
"No government is perfect, and none ever will be as man has been doomed to live a life in chains since we first declared ownership of the first plot of land. However, socialism - in its pure state - provides most effectively for the basic human rights of all individuals. Socialism assures the people that there will be no wage slavery. Socialism assures the world that some nations do take the plight of their people seriously. Socialism assures those under its protection that their basic needs will be met. I implore leaders in the international community to allow for an honest and open debate, a debate in which this nation is confident that the ideals upon which this nation was founded will stand strong and firm.
Coleridge paused, allowing most of the reporters that final few seconds to frantically scribble any notes from his long address. "I have time for two questions." Coleridge smiled as hands shot up rapidly, "Not all at once, please..." the room broke into gentle laughter. He pointed to an older woman sitting in the front row.
"Minister, what is the official reaction of your government in terms of policy towards the statements of President Ramoz?"
Coleridge nodded, "This is the official statement of Rykia and unless Huac takes a threatening posture against our nation we feel no need to add serious military fuel to a hotly debated philosophical argument. In terms of sanctions and non-military forms of reaction; as such Huac has made it clear they will not establish diplomatic relations with socialist nations, and we assume ourselves included." He pointed to a short and plump brown haired man, his pencil waving in the air like the tail of an over-excited puppy.
"Minister, could you briefly explain your government's position on capitalist counties?"
"Certainly. Rykia respects those nations that choose to enact economic policies strictly adhering to laissez-faire free market conditions. It is the position of the President, Prime Minister, and of the government that Rykia's people are, however, best served as what could be called a more socialist economic model. Thank you all." Coleridge stepped back from the podium and out of the bright lights and brsikly stepped off the stage into the wings of the press room.
