Rebuilding Military

The Imperial States of Hamanistan is currently looking to rebuild its military to make it a more modern mechanical force.

With that being said:

What we are looking for are heavy tanks, any where from 1000-3000

The heavy tanks should be heavily armed, and armoured. Speed should not be a big factor.

Medium Tanks: We are looking for about 4000-6000 of these. These tanks shold be in the mold of the Sherman of WWII, quick, but lightly armoured and armed.

We are also looking for about 2000 apc's. these should be fast, with a large payload capacity.

We will also look into aquiring bombers, and fighters. the only thing we are looking for is stealth, and speed.

With your search, we would like to suggest Lightning Styrke Industries (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2946135/). We might have something you'd be interested in.

(Bah, must've CPed the wrong URL..the fun of a number of windows up..sorry..it should work now.)

Jordaxia has recently rataken to producing ground attack fighters.
Whilst not stealthed, they are stealthy to many radar systems, as they are small, and fly at only 5 feet above the surface (usually water, but snow, beaches, flat land in general is all fine.) The JXN-87 only flies at 300mph, but can carry 12 AT missiles on average, or 6 AS missiles, or 1 high yield cruise missile. These are rather inexpensive, coming in at only 2 million each. However, your first 50 are free, even if you only purchase 50.
When you say in the mold of the Sherman, do you mean design? Or characteristics. The Sherman was one of the worst mass-produced tanks of WW2, so I would recommend, if you are going for a historical slant, modelling your tank on the T-34-87, the IS-3, IS-2m, or the King Tiger.

I realize they were not anything special, but if i remember right, they had a greater firing rate than the panzer, were faster, and were cheaper, and more easily built.

But really all I am looking for is something that has a fast rate of fire, is quick, and is somewhat inexpensive.

Your plane does not really fit into what we are looking for, we are looking for a high altitude fighter, and bomber.

If you can afford the tremendous loss rates, then by all means, build your Sherman style tanks. Just some info for you though. The cannon that had the faster R.O.F than the panzer had difficulty getting through a panzers armour at any range. The ratio, suggested by an allied General, for Tigers (not even King Tigers) was 7:1. The IS-3 was so succesful that it was used until the 1960s. Of course, the Sherman type tank you propose would make an efficient IFV, but as a tank killer, or indeed, to stand a chance against another tank, its chances are low.
Remember, the Sherman was proposed as an IFV, necessity made it the standard tank.

(I'd personally go with a T34 styled armor. Seemed, if I'm correct, to ahve that balance of speed, armor, and weaponry. I could be wrong but...yeah. This isnt on topic of course..and as I said, the link's corrected)

No problem. If you are looking for any ideas to base future armour on, I recommend the site www.Achtungpanzer.com It has many specific details on the armour, including the history of the tank, how it was invented, and so forth. It is mainly German armour, having only the T-34 as the only Ally-Russian tank described.

OOC: I'd take a T-34/85 over a Sherman any day. :)

APC's:
Klamathian and Bisonic engineers have come up with a new wheeled 8x8 APC designated Veliky Okhotnik-100, or VO-100. Equipped with the best technology built in Dark Terror and Geforce4, the VO-100 will begin replacing BTR-94's in frontline Bisonic Army units. Several versions are available: VO-100, VO-100M Heavy APC, self-propelled 120mm mortar, air-defense armed with 8 Dart manportable SAMs.

Klamathian and Bisonic Designers have developed a new VO-100 wheeled armored personnel carrier (APC) which considerably outperforms world-renowned BTR-60PB, BTR-70 BTR-80, and BTR-90 carriers as well as similar foreign armored personnel carriers manufactured at present. The advantage of the VO-100 is especially noticeable in terms of the three main parameters:

- firepower;

- mobility, cross-country ability and agility;

- protection.

As is known, the APC armament comprises, as a rule, a 12.7 or 14.5mm large caliber machine gun and a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun. Of late, 25 or 30mm small caliber guns are installed instead of large caliber machine guns. The VO-100 has gone one step further with a 45mm chaingun as its rimary armament, with 14.5 and 7.62mm machine guns mounted coaxially.

The fighting compartment of the VO-100 mounts four types of weapons. These include the 45mm 2A77 automatic gun, the KPVT 14.5mm heavy machine gun, the 7.62mm PKT machine gun, the 30mm AGS-30 grenade launcher and the Yastreb antitank guided missile (ATGM) system.

The VO-100 is fitted with the "DeathClaw-5" Anti-Missile defense system made by Geforce4: the "DeathClaw" is something like a mine, there are 15 charges, mounted on a rotating post atop the turret and capable of showering both enemy ground troops and incoming missiles in a hail that could annihilate said missiles or ground troops. it is a fearsome close-up weapon when modified with shrapnel and explosives.

The fighting compartment is stabilized in two planes. It allows stationary and mobile fire, both day and night, at various targets (including tanks) at ranges in excess of 5,000 m.

A comfortable fighting compartment accommodates the gunner and the vehicle commander. To enhance the APC's firing capabilities, the vehicle commander is provided with an all-round view of the situation, which allows him to override the weapon control and engage the target, should the gunner fail to see it.

The fighting compartment also houses the BPKZ-42 day/night sight for the gunner and the 1P-13 day vision device and the radio set for the commander. At customer's request, the fighting compartment can be outfitted with a gunner's sight (type BPK-M) with a thermal module manufactured by SAT of France. In addition, the VO-100 features the 1A5GT fire control system, which includes millimeter wave radar.

In addition, a high load-carrying capacity (7 t) and a considerable inner volume (14 m3) of the VO-100 allow the installation of heavier weapon systems such as a fighting compartment of the BMP-3 ICV, a 120mm mortar, or air defense systems.

More stringent requirements were imposed on the VO-100 chassis in terms of mobility, cross-country ability and agility. High mobility is ensured by a powerful (530 hp) multifuel supercharged diesel engine, an automatic reversible hydraulic gearbox and independent suspension of all fully-driven wheels.

The new independent torsion-bar suspension of all wheels with transverse arms, which features a large stroke of the high-capacity telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers and wide-section shot-proof tires with a central air pressure regulation system, allows the vehicle to move with a speed of 100 km/h on roads and over 50 km/h on heavily broken terrain. The vehicle continues to move with up to four wheels completely damaged.

The VO-100 uses new original transmission. The engine power is devided in the hydraulic gearbox via the differential mechanism into two parallel flows along the vehicle sides. The hydrostatic transmission provides different rotational speeds at the sides, thereby reducing the vehicle's turning radius twofold as compared to the turn ensured by four front steering wheels. The small turning radius plus the capability to move forward and backward with equal speeds due to the reversible gearbox, considerably increase the vehicle's agility.

Despite a relatively heavy weight (about 21 t), the vehicle can cross water obstacles without preliminary preparation owing to the installation of two hydrojets. The vehicle can swim in sea state 3 and confidently climb a landing ship and leave it.

The vehicle can be shipped by rail, air, motor and water transport.

The VO-100 is the first armored personnel carrier to be outfitted with an onboard computer controlled information and control system, which allows effective automated control of the transmission and the engine, as well as testing and diagnostics of the vital systems.

The APC mounts a collective protection system of the combat crew (10 men) against the effect of a blast wave and penetrating radiation of nuclear explosions, radioactive dust, bacteriological materials and chemical agents during operation of the vehicle on contaminated terrain. Besides, the combat crew is reliably protected from large caliber machine gun bullets and shell splinters. To enhance protective properties, provision is made for the installation of additional armor plating as well as systems of passive (explosive reactive armor) and active protection.

The VO-100 is provided with an air conditioner.

The vehicle's high mobility and agility enhanced by its high firing capabilities and comfortable accommodation of the crew and infantrymen make the VO-100 indispensable for the accomplishment of modern combat missions.

We offer you LeClercs for the medium tank deal. They may be a bit heavier than what you expected there, being MBT's, but they are armed very nicely in comparison with other RL armaments, a 120mm L52, a 12.7mm mg, and a 7.62mm mg, as well as mortars. Great speed, Autoloader for fast firing, practically no recoil when firing(seen videos, its crazy), they aren't as heavily armoured as say a Leopard 2A6, but they can take hits, and generally have a first hit capability anyways.

And now comes bisons, to talk about how bad it is and that french = crap, but whatever. He knows everyone hates him.
Iron Blood
25-04-2004, 03:08
LeClerc isnt at all crap, but it is not the worlds best. However I do find it funny that it has reverse gears.
Its autoloader reduces ROF rather than helps, in russian tanks the autoloader lets the turret be smaller, but leclercs turret isnt exactly small. So it doesnt really help.

The thing with my storefront is that it really isnt only my storefront; my ally runs part of it too. The thing is, we divide it into Western and Eastern tech for th emost part, but sometimes i end up using western stuff a lttl and he does the same, or at least he did.

IN any case, if you are looking to rebuild your military, I would suggest my storefront. The best part about my store is that we sell all sorts of equipment, especially infantry equipment that u will need.

so check it out.

Can you at least say its the best in the west? I personally don't know enough about say the Black eagle or T-95 to argue the point(And leopard 2A6 isnt in production yet). Also, The abhrams has 2 reverse gears...

Strv-122 is the best wetsern tank now (swedish) IMHO, with leclerc being 2nd.
Chellis
25-04-2004, 03:36
I can agree with that, cause i dunno about the strv, but im sure something based off the Leopard II could be better if done right... But it uses a L44 gun, while the LeClerc has L52... I dunno.
Iron Blood
25-04-2004, 03:41
The STRV has much better armor... you know, if strv-2000 was actually built, it would make everything else look like scouting tankettes. 140mm gun, 40mm coaxial autocannon, armor still unmatched 15 years after its mockup was built, though somewhat expensive.

These tanks are a bit more expensive than leclercs, but also vastly superior.

GT-1 Main Battle Tank (G stands for Gromilla, which is russian for brutal desctructive beast T stands for tank)

The GT-1 is a further development of the T-80UM5, featuring improvements in mobility, protection, armament, fire control, and a new navigation system (in the GT-1K command version).

The GT-1 armament includes an electro-thermal 135mm gun, stabilized in two axes and fitted with a thermal sleeve. It hits with the force of a 155mm gun, and can destroy an M1A2 at 4km with Free Rumanian quad-charged HEAT shells. The gun tube can be replaced without dismantling inside the turret. The gun can fire a variety of ammunition including APDS (Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot), HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank), HE-FRAG (High Explosive Fragmentation) as well as shrapnel projectiles with time fuses.

The 135mm gun can also fire the AT-17 Slicer anti-tank guided missile system. The range of the missile is 100 - 6,000 m and takes 14.7 sec to reach maximum range. The system is intended to engage tanks fitted with ERA (Explosive Reactive Armour) as well as low-flying air targets such as helicopters, at a range of up to 7 km. The missile system fires either the 9M119 or 9M119M missiles which have semi-automatic laser beamriding guidance and a hollow charge warhead. Missile weight is 28.4 kg. The guns 15 rpm automatic loader will feed both ordnance and missiles.

A 45mm 2A77 autocannon has been installed to allow quick engagement of other armored fighting vehicles. Ammunition load is 470 AP (Armour-Piercing) or HE rounds. Rate of fire is more than 300 rounds/min and range is 1,500 to 2,200m.

There are 12 Yastreb ATGM's towards the rear of the turret. Yastreb is a radar guided ATGM with a range of over 5km that easily penetrates the amror of the M1A2 or similar tanks with its 1300mm penetration.

Also fitted is a coaxial 7.62 mm PKT machine gun and a 12.7 mm air defense machine gun. A 5.45 mm A-91M assault rifle is carried on a storage rack.

Armor:

Protection of the GT-1 includes an outer layer of Montgomery titanium armor. The GT-1 tank is protected by the new Igolka Nonexplosive Reactive Armor (NERA) technology, with 2 layers frontally. NERA technology is an improvement over the previous Kaktus ERA technology, with the ability to be buried several layers deep in the armor. Also, when they "go off", they only use the reactive material in the immediate vicinity of the actual penetration rather than a whole "box". Finally, there is a layer of Tungsten.

The GT-1 is fitted with the Cerberus missile engagement system. This system includes infrared jammer, laser blinder, laser warning system with four laser warning receivers, grenade discharging system which produces an aerosol screen and a computerized control system.
It is also fitted with NBC (nuclear, biological and chemical) protection equipment.

The Bisonic Cerberus system also features the ARENA system, the first available DAS-system, was analysed by TNO-PML in collaboration with TNO-FEL. This systems detects an incoming anti-tank missile and reacts by throwing a cassette containing explosives and fragments towards the missile. Upon detonation of the cassette, the fragments interact with the missile, such that its effectiveness decreases substantially.

Both testings of the effectiveness of the fragments and computer simulation of the suite of events- detection, intercept and residual penetration capability- were performed. This resulted in an assessment of the increased survivability of the vehicle equipped with ARENA. The same analyses also gave an idea of the decrease of performance of the anti-tank missile.

The Arena system is switched on/off from the commander's control console. Once Arena is switched on, all subsequent operations are performed automatically. Apart from the basic automatic mode of operation, exceptionally, the commander can control the system manually, for example, when it is necessary to destroy obstacles or for close-in protection against infantry.

Arena provides protection for a moving or stationary tank in any weather and in any combat environment, irrespective of the angle of impact of the enemy's weapons. The data-processing radars and sights feature a high level of noise immunity. They do not respond to false and random signals, and come into action only in situations where there is a serious threat to the tank or when a weapon fired by the enemy is heading directly towards the tank.

It is also fitted with NBC (nuclear, biological and chemical) protection equipment.

Propulsion:
The G-1 has a 1440 hp turbocharged engine. This engine can be fuelled by T-2 or TS-1 kerosene and A-72 benzine, in addition to diesel. The tank can carry up to 1,600 litres of fuel in the main fuel tanks and fuel drums. The fuel tanks are reinforced with armor plating.
The tank is provided with a snorkel for deep fording and can ford 5 metres of water with equipment which can be deployed in 20 minutes.
The mechanical transmission includes primary reduction gear, two planetary final gearboxes and two planetary final drives. The running gear features torsion bar suspension with hydraulic shock absorbers at 1, 2 and 6 road wheel stations and tracks with rubber-metallic pin hinges.

Fire Control:
The GT-1 is fitted with the 1A5GT fire control system.

The 1A5GT fire control system includes:
- The gunner's 1A43 day fire control system
- A laser range finder
- The driver's TVN-5 infrared night viewer
- A second-generation television sight and automatic thermal target tracker
- An integrated operating system which includes advanced data communications and battle management
- Millimeter wave radar
- Infrared tracking system

The computer controlled fire control system includes line of sight stabilisation in two axes, a second-generation television sight and automatic thermal target tracker, a laser range finder, an improved thermal night vision system and a dynamic cant angle indicator. The commander's station is fitted with a stabilised panoramic day and night sight. The integrated operating system includes advanced data communications and battle management. Tadiran developed the G-1's communications system, the inter communication system and the VRC 120 vehicular transceiver radio with embedded auxiliary receivers.

Signature Reduction:
Protective systems for reduction of tank signatures are designed for reducing the range and probability of the tank detection by reconnaissance equipment and homing devices of high precision ammunitions.

Measures of making the tank less prone to be detected allow the following:

to reduce the tank thermal signature by 5-7 times;
to reduce the tank radar signature by 3-5 times;
to reduce the tank visual signature by 1.5 times

Navigation:
The GT-1 is fitted with the LIO-N navigation system.

The navigation system is included into the tank control system and serves to automate the fulfilment of interaction between tanks within a tank unit in order to command its manoeuvres. Installation of the LIO-N system in the tank ensures the following:

determining the tank's own coordinates with the help of two satellite systems: GPS NAVSTAR and GLONASS;
collecting (with the help of the standard radio set) information about the location of the subordinate tanks and displaying this information on the screen;
generating, transmitting, receiving and displaying the text information (the information is input with the help of a keyboard and is transmitted through a digital radio channel by using the standard radio set);
storing and processing the pre-determined routes;
providing the driver with information about the movement direction required in order to reach the next route check-point.
Technical characteristics:
accuracy (standard deviation) of determining the tank location coordinates when using the systems:
NAVSTAR - 40 m;
GLONASS - 30 m;
NAVSTAR/GLONASS - 20 m;
number of routes that can be pre-determined - up to 10;
number of check-points in each routes - up to 50;
collection of information about the location of subordinate tanks, transmission of the coordinates of destination points and text information are ensured in military units up to tank battalion level inclusively;
time of transmission and reception of information in the digital radio channel and the communications coverage distance are determined by the characteristics of the standard communications means (for R-173M radio set - within 1 sec at distances of up to 20 km);
accuracy of presenting the current time (with allowance for the time zone) - 1 sec;
readiness time:
at 'cold' start - within 180 sec;
at 'hot' start - within 15 sec;
built-in test systems are available
