After the recent troubles in Aust, that the USIH became temporarily involved in, congress has seen the need to increase the national defence budget in some key areas.
Minor problems were identified in some naval and air force aircraft that could easily be solved by simple maintenance budget increases. These problems will be recified over the coming months after congress approved an extra 100million dollars to be diverted into this area, essential to current military doctrine.

Congress also approved the expansion of the navy, put forward by President Anderson earlier this year in his State of the Union address. Under this new bill the commission of two, yet unnamed or designated, new SuperCarriers has been approved along with the procurement of a further 2 Nimitz Class Carriers and multiple support craft. The bill also included a new contract for the National Shipbuilding Company to build 18 new Roll-on/Roll-off transport ships, each capable of holding a combat regiment and supplies to keep it going for 2 weeks of combat.

There were also expansions in the Air Force, however Defence Chiefs have deemed the information too sensitive to be released to the press and the international community as to the actual aircraft procurements that will take place.

Minor problems were also encountered with the new AAM-8 Missile currently being tested aboard Land Based Interceptors, with only 15% of target drones actually being hit due to software problems. These missiles have been taken out front line service with the two squadrons that were currently equipped with them whilst upgrades are performmed. They have been re-replaced with AIM-9X Sidewinders and AAM-3 missiles.

OOC: im using this to give updates on my military so if i go to war i dont have to explain everything on threads and can put a link here. It also stops people accusing me of not having time to assemble ships etc, as they will be able to see from here that i am well organised. (if not now then soon)
