ICE-9 Research Stage One Completed In Kalakan City

Dr. Felix Hoenikker worked on the creation of the atomic bomb, but ironically the atomic bomb is not even Hoenikker's most devastating creation.
Working on the rather innocuous problem of how to get soldiers out of the mud, he synthesizes "ice-nine," which is both better and worse than expected: It would freeze the water so soldiers stuck in the mud could lift themselves out, but this freezing action would continue until every bit of water on earth was turned into solid ice-nine.
Before the samples in the Sparta City university labs could be destroyed, spies broke in and released the sample, freezing the campus and killing hundreds. International aid regained control of the situation, but due to the enormous technological possiblities of the discovery, the remaining samples were sold on, against Hoenikker's will.
We can now only pray and speculate upon this discovery which could very well make or break the human race.
