Praetonian News Network External Broadcast:

The Felian Cult has claimed responsibility for a blast that destroyed the Municipal Headquarters in Feletori yesterday, killing 200 people and causing a break-down in local government.

The Felian Cult, which is rumoured to have a settlement in the Magisacen Mountains North of Feletori, follow the ancient practice of worshipping the cat, the Praetonian national animal which still holds a special place in the hearts of many. They believe that the one true God is that of the cats, and so they believe that the cats themselves, as God's servants, should be put in complete control of the island of Praetonia and it's inhabitants.

Until now the Praetonian government has failed to take them seriously, viewing them as a "moronic sect of horribly misguided individuals". However following this act of unprovoked violence the Praetonian government is planning to post a garrison around Feletori and send the Special Operations branch of the military, the elite Praetonian Guard, to clear the mountains of any Felian Terrorists.

Praetonian Guard Briefing Room

"As you have no doubt heard, on the 14th of this month Felian loonies struck the local government HQ in Feletori, killing 200 Praetonian citizens! We have been ordered to avenge the innocent deaths and destroy the Felian base.

After two weeks of searching we have found it, here, in a deep gorge surrounded by trees. We will insert by helicopter here, in a clearing behind this ridge to the East of the Felian complex, and hopefully out of sight of their guards.

From then on you will mantain complete radio silence until you have reached the inner sanctum and destroyed their generator, here. Although we know of it's location we know almost nothing about this generator, as we have not seen any supply convoys supplying it with fuel, nor have we located any kind of mine. Be prepared for the possiblity that it is nuclear, although we do not believe it likely.

This is our first mission and so I cannot stress enough the importance of this mission going well. Both for you and for the entire Praetonian Guard project. Dismissed!"

5 Minutes From Drop Zone

"Pilot?" Shouted Captain Lawrence, struggling to be heard over the noise of the blades. He was sure that the Felians would hear them coming, even if they didnt see them.
"Yes sir?" He shouted back.
"I can't see anything, are you sure we're in the right place?"
"Yes sir! Youll see as soon as you climb that ridge, now ready for the drop?"
"Yeah we better get going"

Thirty men lined up to jump, 15 on each side of the helicopter. The ropes dangled down either side. "On three!" Ordered Captain Lawrence, "3!, 2!, 1! Go, go, go!"

Each man slid effortlessly down the rope whilst the pilot concentrated on keeping his machine steady. As the last man touched the ground, the helicopter turned, just as a missile skimmed past its tail.

"Let's get out of here! Captain Lawrence, covering fire!" Screamed the pilto down his radio. The helicopter weaved and dipped at hundreds of miles per hour. Alpha Squad on the ground below opened fire, shooting randomly into the trees.

"Damn there goes another missile. Platoon advance!" Ordered the captain.

The thirty men ran forward, one squad covering the others movement and vice-versa.

"I see him!" Shouted Private Gregory.

"Take the shot!" Ordered the Captain, but Gregory had already fired. The man fell limply to one side and his missile launcher rolled down the ridge.

Overlooking the Felian Facility

"Sergeant Powell, assemble your squad on the ridge, give us covering fire. Try to pick of as many guards as you can with sniper power," whispered the Captain, "but whatever you do do not raise the alarm, they dont yet suspect anythings happened to our friend with the missile launcher"

"Sergeants Jacobson and Davies, follow me."

The elite soldiers creapt through the undergrowth, almost invisible and noiseless. They reached the perimeter of the conpound and looked out from the undergrowth into the clear, flat compound. A lone guard was dead in front of them, obviously snipered. "Sergeant Powell, Open Fire!"

That was when all hell broke loose. Heavy machineguns opened up from the ridge and plowed into the poorly constructed buildings, ripping through the rooves and killing anyone who happened to be standing inside. At the same time, Sergeant Jacobson's 10-man squad ran to the left, and Sergeant Davies and the Captain's squad ran to the right, throwing grenades in through windows.

Within minutes the majority of the Felian Cult were assembled in the court yard with their hands in the air, surrounded by Praetonian Guardsmen.
"Hold them here until the mission is complete, then we can load them into helicopters and send them back to Praeton for trial, Im going to cheack out this generator."

Captain Lawrence and five of the Praetonian Guardsmen entered the building. Two, both Corprals, fanned out and scanned the building for hostiles
"Clear!" Came the shout from the left
"Clear!" Came, moments later, the shout from the right. The other three Guardsmen moved forward. They were engineers, tech-experts in fact. Whatever was powering this generator of theirs didnt seem to require any resupply, and it certainly wasnt nuclear. Praetonia itself had not even started a nuclear program, so people who worshipped cats would hardly have the intellect.

The real shock came when the techies hacked into the computer.
"Sir! Come and look at this." He said in disbelief
"What is it private?" the rhetorical question was put as the Captain jogged to the panel. "What does it all mean?" Asked the Captain, staring blankly at the figures.
"This is a map of a small island, just off the coast here, and these icons here" He pointed at 3 small crosses that were dotted around the newly opened island map, "they indicate missile silos." Silence.
"Bu-but they cant have nukes! Can they?" stammered the shocked Captain
"Oh no not nukes, but from the looks of these scematics," the Private pulled up another screen, "they are more powerful than Cruise. Far more powerful, Im guessing that if they detonated one of these in Praeton, they'd get the entire inner city. No civilian housing, but theyd get governmnet, military HQ, the shopping centre and any civilians who happened to be in it"

But the Captain was no longer listening, he was frantically trying to contact HQ, but they call him first.
"Captain We've just recieved a message from the Felians, they say they are going to destroy Praeton unless we agree to their demands. They say they have missiles. Have you found them there?"
"No Commander, but I know where they are..."

PNN News Report:

"The Praetorian Government is sending out a universal call for aid today when Felian cultists threatened to destroy Praeton. We have been informed that if the Praetonian government does not abdicate in favour of a Felian governing council led by a cat, then they will launch 3 conventional ICBMs, we are believed to have been purchased from terrorist organisations or countries unknown.

The ICBMs are located on an island off the North Praetonian coast, but it is believed to be ringed by SAM sites and shore defences and the depleted Praetonian military, currently experiencing a re-development program, say that they cannot mount an operation against it. The Praetonian government are therefore appealing for help from any friendly nation.

The Capital Praeton is being evactuated, although the only motorway route out is clogged with traffic and government officials do not believe that all civilians can be evacutaed in time...."

Exham is willing to deploy two 8-man squads of our elite Kasrikrin troops. They can be loaded into an airplane and arrive at your nation within two (ns) hours if you wish.

Thankyou, that is most appreciated. However, more troops will be needed to take the island, but most importantly, the ability to deploy them into this island fortress....

The U.S.S.B. will support a landing on the island with two wings of A-10 Thunderbolt support craft if you so wish. Furthermore, we will dispatch four Pasteur class hospital ships around the island, on the condition that you protect the ships and their crews at all costs.

Thankyou, we shall dispatch coastal defence missile ships to guard them. Note that you should keep them out from the shore - we dont know what they have on that island...

EDIT: What we really need are landing ships that we currently dont have. They will probably sustain damage, but we will compensate for that. Time is running out...

The U.B.S. Samaritan drifted lazily out of port, cutting a rolling, white wake behind her snowy white hull. To each side identical ships sailed, the U.B.S. Mercy and the U.B.S. Seriphus, with a fourth sailing in the wake of the Samaritan, the U.B.S. Monk. A vibrant red cross set on both the port and starboard hulls of each ship, designating them as noncombatant hospitial ships. Within each of these were set a single hammer and sickle, crossed at mid-handle on each, one of the many symbols of Bergist revealing their socialist roots.

Rear Admiral Jacobs sat silently watching the ocean roar beneath and around him as the mighty engines of the Pasteur class ships sent them at full speed out toward Praetonia. Looking up, he turned to a young, black haired man dressed in the royal blue of the Bergistian Naval Forces. "Lieutenant Law, when we come into range, send a hail to Praetonias nearest ship and inform them of the following. Firstly that we are moving into position and request that they set up a defensive formation around us. Secondly that the A-10 Thunderbolt support crafts have been moved to a nearby airstrip and will be available to provide cover fire whenever Praetonia is prepared to commence the siege."

Do you need anything from Jordaxia?
I shall TG you stats of my navy and airforce, and if you desire anything from them they can be negotiated, free of charge, to be leased to you until this crisis has been resolved.

OOC: Im putting this on hold for a day or two so that Jordaxia can participate. I was thinking that you could each control your own troops and I will control my troops and the large troop transport that Jordaxia has kindly leant me. If you dont want to control your troops then just tell me and I will control them. When I start up again it will be about 12 hours after I left off and the Felians may have fired one of the missiles during negotiations. I will also draw up a list of what the Felians have but note that before we go in we wont know it IC.

Thankyou all for all your help, we will begin our attack in a few hours/tommorow. I think the attack should start with a battleship/carrier bombardment, followed by a full assault with infantry and light armour. Our main objective has to be the missile siloes and we have to hit them quickly, as negotiation can only hold them for so long and they will most likely fire soon after we start the ground offensive. We have conducted naval recon missions and we have spotted the following defeces:

1) There is only 1 beach where a landing could take place. This is typical of the Praetonian main island and the surrounding island.

2) This beach is not guarded by tank-trapped, but it may be mined.

3) The hill behind the beach is covered with trenches and pillboxes.

4) Arial Recon has spotted large caches of shoulder-mounted missiles, probably AT and AA. They may be used in large numbers against ships but probably dont have sufficient range. They have one or two out-date artillery pieces.

5) There are barracks for around 800 troops, most probably armed with AK-47s or other low-powered rifles.

The U.B.S. Samaritan and her sister ships stand ready for casualties. All medical bays are fully operational, medical personel are on alert status. Bergistian evacuation helicopters are being prepped as we speak. Praetonian aircraft are cleared for landing on any of our ships should their crews require medical attention. Best of luck to you and your men.



ooc: Praetonia, feel free to use the A-10 Thunderbolts in your rp. As long as they stay under Bergistian command, you can control them...they're just support craft, but if ya feel they might be useful go ahead.

Lightning Hovercraft circled the island. They had viewed every inlet, but it appeared that there was only one way in, and that was heavily fortified. Switching their autoloaders to AT rounds, they skimmed silently through the night.

Intelligence had been gethered that the leader of the Felian cult was inspecting the defences. There had definately been more activity in the last few hours. They knew an attack was coming.

The 20 hovercraft lined up heading straight towards the beach. They skimmed across the water, completely invisble in the low light. The little noise they were making was covered by the continual drone of heavy warship engines.

At 200m from the beach, every hovercraft opened up with every gun it had. Machinegun rounds pummeled the beach, infantry caught unaware scattered, falling to the ground as the bullets raked their ranks. Much more of the machine fire bounced off the armoured pillboxs lining the ridge, but that was what the cannons were for. Round after DU round of 30mm ammunition was spat into the Felian defences. A few unlucky infantrymen took cannon rounds to the chest, but the majority of the fire impacted upon the bunkers, drilled straight through and bounced around inside, killing anyone there.

Before the Felians had recovered from the attack, the hovercraft dissapeared into the night. Mere minutes later, the Jordaxian bombardment started...

OOC: Jordaxia cant get on for a day or two so we will continue then.

The Felian Lieutenant stood in the middle of a ruined bunker. He looked around and saw dead soldiers littering the floor. 'Oh well,' he thought, 'we have plenty more soldiers'. He cared as little for his own men as he did for the Praetonians he was threatening to missile.

"Come on, up you come," he said to a cat sculking on the floor. The cat jumped into the Lietenant's arms and they walked out of the bunker. The leader of the Felian Cult and his most trustworth human servant. 'When we have won I can do away with all this cat rubbish and all those people who believed it' he thought to himself. He wasnt sure if he could stand another few days with the Felians. 'But then again', he thought, 'they probably wont last another few days'.

OOC: I am Praetonia but I mad ethis country to make it easier to distinguish the two sides.

I'm ready.
2 Pelicans had the Island in their sight. Flying so low, given the low technology of the radar. Visual confirmation would be easy, given the vast size of the pelican. That wouldn't be a problem for long.
The first pelican let slip 3 daisy cutter bombs over the island, guaranteeing that everybody on the surface would be dead.
The second pelican dropped 200 hundred IRC soldiers, whos first job would be to isolate and eliminate any troops that somehow survived.
60 of them went to the beach, to secure it for the Praetonian landing. This would be the first unofficial use of the guard, and things had to go well.
P.S Text is messy. Keeps overwriting what I write instead of moving it. Just after low tech of radar, insert "electronic detection would be difficult."
The Fleet was off the coast of the isle, waiting to begin the bombardment.

IC: 70 RF-11's flew around the pelicans, guarding them.
The JXN's flew by the hovercraft, and intended to blitz the island quickly before anyone could tell what happened. The picked up the IFF of the IRC on the beach, and flew up to 70 feet (as opposed to the 5 feet previously.)
They loosed the AT missiles at all the buildings still standing.

The Felian defenders who had been shot to pieces, bombed, then shot again by the hovercraft were now having grenades thrown at them by Jordaxian Special Force. You could almost feel sorry for them.

The Hovercraft stopped firing as the first Jordaxian soldiers entered the Felian Defences. One Hovercraft lost an engine from an RPG and onehad lost s rudder, but the latter managed to pick up all the crew and passengers of the first and limp back to base.

As the remaining hovercraft reached the beach, the hatches swung open and almost 200 Praetonian Special Forces jumped out. They ran towards the Felian defences, stopping occasionally to shoot at whoever was left inside the defences. They advanced off the beach with the Jordaxian Forces by their side.

With the beachead secure, the Guard advanced quickly up the beach. Jordaxian snipers focused on all of the windows of the bunker, taking pot-shots at any Felians who poked their head out. As they got to the doors of the bunker, Alpha team (10 men.) threw grenades inside. The full attack begun.

OOC: Good point, its been hard to do anything due to DnS errors

With our beach-head defenders under heavy attack our men our being pulled out, but there is more waiting for they who would dare attack The Felian Island.

"Sir!"

"Yes Corporal?"

"We took out one of their planes with the RPGs!"

"Well done Corporal! Now aim towards the beach, give our men covering fire as they pull out!"

"Yessir!" He shouted "Soldiers aim to the beach, try not hit our men, keep firing on the Praetonians as much as possible."

"You men, set up those machineguns! Form firing lines. The real battle begins now..."

OOC: Ooops I meant to post it as these guys...

"Enemy machine guns pinning us down sir!"
"Get me those JXNs!"
"This is JXN 12 reportingg sir, we're a little out from the main isle, preparing to line up for another run. Any targets of opportunity?"
"Damn right there is! A line of HMG's and RPGs is holding us on the beach. Blow 'em apart now!"
"Roger, on way to target."
The 49 JXN's turned round at once, and prepped the HE missiles. That little band would be gone in a second.
6 of the JXN's fired the missile at the group holding up the Jordaxians, as they rest flew over the isle quickly, looking for more targets.

Praetonian assault teams moved forward to secure the line of defences. With the AA battery gone the Jordaxian aircraft could destroy targets at will.

Once on the wrecked bumkers the Praetonian Machinegun and Snipe teams took up postion and fired at the next line of defences. The siloes were in sight now. Only one line of trenches left, but this was where they had ut the majority of their forces. Aging artillery pieces and heavy machineguns could be seen.

"Snipers! Fire on the artillery crews! Machineguns, keep their heads down while we advance!"

OOC I assume it is still Ok to join. I am also thinking that there are some caves on the island.


IC The party came up out of the cave. They where all wearing either dark blue or green. Their skin was black and their eyes red with white hair. None of them where taller than 5'3". They looked around then ran in one direction, towards the beach. They then saw what they had been sent to find. The Drow warriors pulled out their sniper rifles and started fireing to kill as many of the Felians as possible. The captin then ran along the ridge and jumped onto one of the hover craft that was retreting. He was almost invisible to the naked eye.

Well, I would suppose so, but really, the situation is in hand.
(OOC: Is the silo above ground or under it? If it is under it then I could strike the wall, and seal the chamber.)

OOC: Yeh I guess you can join. I'm the smae person as Praetonia BTW. Yes the siloes are underground, but they werent professioanally built.

Broadcast from the Felian Island

Praetonia, Jordaxia and Lessr Tsurani. You are ordered to surrender you troops or we will fire our missiles. We have just enough to hit each of your Captiols. Do not make this difficult. Surrender now and the Jordaxian and Lessr Tsuranian Troops will be released shortly. We do not make empty threats.

OOC Um do you know that we live under ground? I have 5 lines of 20 men. So 100.

IC THe Drow held their ground not launching any atttacks. It was if they where waiting for something. Then one truck came and stoped, Loaded with weapons. The men ran back and picked other weapons, Then started shooting with their new weapons as some ran forwards. They did some sort of plan as one line ran then the next. The other ones giveing cover fire. As they did this one more line aarrived then the they stoped coming. 5 lines stood there giveing each other cover fire, each line had 20 Drow, 100 in total.

"Activate the interceptors!"
"Aye aye Admiral."
The fleets missile interception capacity came on line, and the JXN's were ordered to attack the bunker, to seal it up so the missiles could not escape. I'm assuming that since you are deliberately not a nuclear power, any missiles the Felians have will be more vulnerable to interception than a more high tech weapons. (They are nuclear, yeah?)
