Gramal and Weyr----Pre-War

Gramal
23-04-2004, 22:00
President Gramal has ended all diplomatic relatiosn with the nation of Weyr. He has thus called forth the naval blockading of Weyr's shorline and also the immediate mobiization of all of the nation's forces to the Weyr-Gramal border. This is Pre-War. If diplomatic solutions cease then Gramal will begin bombardment of the nation of Weyr with massive artillery deployments. Weyr must respond or endure the consequences.

OOC:
Weyr, may God forgive you if you want war. For I will not. And neither will my allies.

What are your reasons?
Weyr
24-04-2004, 00:37
OOC: *shrug* Dunno. The diplomatic telegrams from him had some rather interesting "ally with us or die" overtures. And I might have annoyed him with my fantasy-style military and society. Eh, I'll post military specs later on if this actually gets anywhere.

------------------------
IC:
28,000 High Guard have been dispatched to the Wye-Gramal border [and no, they won't open fire first because they're stationed 10 miles away from the border]. The Citadel shields are on standby. All persons residing in Weyr have been warned of the possibility of military action, and advised to take the necessary precaution. The High Council has been called into emergency session to discuss the current situation . . .

------------------------

The High King Alicia li'Wye massaged her temples with her back to the rest of the chamber, composed herself, and stood up from her hard wood chair. The murmurings of the High Council ceased as she turned around to face the 568 representatives, as well as and countless spectators in the packed gallery and on national leynet. At twenty-eight, she did not look the part of a regent, dressed in common attire and speaking with a slight accent that belied her Shadowside heritage.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the Council, people of Weyr, today we stand on the brink of war. A malicious and belligerent nation stands on our border, poised to strike against our eastern regions. There stands little doubt that whether or not we desire it, the neutrality that our kingdom has embraced for so long will soon be shattered . . . I must request that the High Council and the Regional Councils consider our current options . . . "

----------------

[code:1:42a092d1d3]
President Gramal,

We request that you give the reasons for the actions of your nation. It has thus far been our kingdom's aim to maintain a neutral ground with all nations . . .

Yuriy Pertovich Gogol sat at his desk and continued into his morning report.
"Another War!" He shouted as he read about the Weyr situation.

He keyed his secretary.
"Andrea, would you come and make a letter"
She entered the room and he began to speak

Alicia li'Wye,

I am writing you in response to the dramatic and massive troop movement near your country. The United Federation of Chochezkoo is willing to support your country if War comes. we can ensure air and sea superiority if it comes to fighting. I seriously hope that war can be avoided, but if it resorts to fighting, you will not stand alone. the things done by Gramal are, as we see it, unprovoked violations of Weyr Sovereignity. We will not let this blockade go on forever.

Stanley Molotov the Governor General of Beta Aurigae VII gave a great sigh as he signed the last of the reports for the day. He gave them to his aid and got up to leave his office, he was about halfway to the door and muttering about how the politicians would be the death of him when another aid rushed into the room looking extremely flustered.

"Sir, we just got these pictures from one ouf our satalites!"

as he looked at the pictures that the aid thrust into his hand the expression of weariness he had been wearing a moment ago changed into one of concern.

"How recent are these pictures?"

"Only about ten minutes old sir."

"I don't like the looks of this troop movement, get me Volchenkov on the double."

"Yes Sir." the aid hurries off and returns with another man Grigor Volchenkov, Beta Aurigae's Minister of Defence.

"What do you make of this Grigor?" Molotov asked

"Well sir, to state the obvious i'd say that Weyr is about to be invaded." Volchenkov replied

"What's your reccomendation Grigor?"

"Well i think we should help out." said Volchenkov

"Alright i will contact the High King of Weyr to authorize this movement of our troops to her country, and i will call for an emergency meeting of the senate tomorrow morning 8:00am sharp. i would like you to attend we, need the senate to aprrove any action made militarily for or against another nation. dismissed."

[code:1:563fee0ef7]Alicia li 'Wye High King of Weyr,

Gramal

President Gramal sat at the round circular table inside of the underground command center in the defense ministry. His cabinet sat around him as they debated the matter.

"They do not want diplomatic ties or trade priveleges but they insult our army's capability? That's a good enough cause for war to me." This man speaking was Joint Chief of Staff Jarold MacKensie. He was an aged war veteran and loved the smell of it.

President Victor Gramal had been president of the Republic for a long time now. Since the founding of the nation he has governed and he needed a rest. "I will not risk open war. The blockade wil last a week. The army will remain on high alert and The Wall will stand down and await further orders. Any Weyr diplomats are to be escorted to Huron at once and with a military escort. I want a diplomatic solution to this." Victor looked around at the cabinet memebers and sighed. Once the order was given it was so.

OOC:

Ok. The blockade will remain in effective but it will be 500 miles from the shorlines. It will not move in further until it is told so. Any other nations that want to be involved may be involved but for defense purposes only. No invasion of Gramal territory. If war comes then I don't want to be fighting a million man army against my 400,000 man army. Only half being combat ready. As far as air superiority goes and not to mention naval superiority, I find that hard to believe being I have many weapons you do not know about. The UN doesn't even know about them. For they are not outlawed and need no knowledge of it. Weyr send a diplomat and let's play this out.
Beta Aurigae VII
24-04-2004, 18:13
OOC: well im not too sure naval and air superiority would be much of a problem for either me or Chochezkoo no matter what special weapons you have. Chochezkoo especially would have no problem considering his nation is 1 RL year and some change older than both of ours. besides i don't think your navy or airforce would be much of a match for either of mine. over 500 ships in my entire navy plus about 10,000 planes and helicopters in my carrier force. and my airforce well we won't go into that. however in the interest of playing the game fair and since you are facing three nations by yourself naval and air superiority will not be assured to Weyr and her allies.

Osmadius, during the recent conversation with Weyr, had ordered invesitgation into the current affairs of Weyr, and policies. He had given the matter to Foriegn Relations, as was the normal proceeder in such matters.

The head of Foriegn Relations, was Seymour Demitract. He was a quiet and brooding man, one which was cold and calculated. He was perfectly suited for this current task, of reconessance. He was currently working in his usual manner, meticulously and calmly overviewing the facts of current affairs.

Picture of Seymour (http://www.creativeuncut.com/media/s3-albert.jpg)

The first piece of infomation which reached him during his research, was that Weyr was currently locked in a blockade, against Gramal apparently. This intreged him greatly, and sent the infomation which had been gathered to Osmadius during the talks.

(OOC Just a find of tag really. Can someone explain to me why this is occouring? It will represent my own investigations and questionings)

Tex Gruntis IV sat at his desk awaiting a report.

Kalkinto Tirimis, the defense and foreigh relations head stepped into the office. "These satellite photos confirm the movments of Gramal forces. There's infantry on the Gramali-Wey border, and a blockade of ships five hundred miles from the Weyr coastline. If more of the international community don't act soon, I fear there may be a war. These are turbulant times, wars here and there and such."

"Yes. What about these?"

"These are 28,000 High Guards from Weyr. So far, Gramal seems the aggressor. We have found no reasoning for wanting war."

"Are these all Gramali troops?"
"Yes sir"
"Then let's get in some 150 thousand for the defense of Weyr. I want them armed and up to speed. Call in the first assigned core of the Desert eagles. That should be a good combined defense force of what others have been lent. I will make the request."

---

Transmission to the High King of Weyr:

IC:
"Let's go over this again," Lord Ash Erran shouted over the din of the shuttle's twin rotors as the gray aircraft lifted vertically into the air. "You want us to go in, find out what started this, what they want, and somehow find a peaceful solution. You're insane." His two aides stared.
"Watch who you're talkin' to," Alicia li'Wye's voice came over the helmet's speaker.
"You're insane, your Highness," Ash repeated, "just make sure they don't shoot us down."
City lights twinkled beneath and around the chopper-like craft as it sped above Weyr’s canyon-like streets. It was past midnight, and Ash estimated that it would be midmorning before they would reach Gramal territory.

“First an effective declaration of war, now diplomatic talks,” Alicia muttered, coming back into the Council Hall – a tall, massive building second only to The Tower in size and importance. “Can’t they make up their minds . . . ”

“Ser, The Tower says their people are in position,” an aide hurried to the High King as she walked through the high arched tower corridor towards her quarters. “Thank you,” Alicia nodded, taking the thick portfolio and continuing on her way. There were still the foreign communications to respond to.
The High Council was split: one half wanting to save their people and allow foreign troops, and the other half fearing a stab in the back. The crystal on Alicia’s breast glowed faintly, and she tapped it. “Good to go,” a voice came through the static. The Council had decided to accept foreign aid, provided it did not come with a bill attached.

Thank you for your offer of help. At this time both Gramal and Weyr are attempting to find a diplomatic solution to the current situation. However, since the blockade is currently not causing any severe problems, it seems that attempts to remove the blockade will only cause unnecessary bloodshed and misunderstanding. At this time, I believe that it would be best not to further antagonize Gramal. As Weyr has no facilities to support large numbers of naval, air, or land forces, I am not sure if it is possible for you to stage forces in our nation.

OOC; Basically, what the communications say is that Weyr is very grateful for your offers of help, but would like you not to intervene until the diplomatic options have been exhausted. In my estimates, more than 50,000 additional troops coming into Weyr will require the construction of some very expensive infastructure, for which Weyr doesn't have the spare funds.

OOC: Ok. This is modern tech. Not future tech. Any nation that has future tech will be ignored and will not be allowed to intervene. Weyr, the envoy will be sent to Tilan Air Force Base inside Gramal territory. From there the envoy will be choppered to Huron, the capital city, and for everyone else, let's keep the defense aide to a minimum of 50,000 a nation ok? Is that so hard to ask? I'm against multiple armies here that aren't even from the same damn region and I'm without allies.

IC:

A radar blip on the long range scanners of one of The Wall's posts was shown. It was a Weyr chopper and was nearing Gramal territory. The captain in charge radioed the coordinates to the chopper pilot. He was to land at Tilan Air Force Base and to await further orders.

General Yard got the report and brought a screen up to his face. President Victor Gramal was leaning over his desk.

"You have word, General?" he said as he stared at the man in the view screen. " Yes, sir. The Weyr envoy will be here by 0400 hours and be in Huron at 0500. Weyr's "High King", who happens to be a woman, is sending them for peace talks. Is that what we've mobilized for, sir? Peace talks?" Yard had never questioned the President. Even as teenagers his has never questioned his actions. "Yard, we've mobilized if the talks failed. Weyr has amassed a massive amount of allies and they're sending their armies in if the talks fail. Sit back and relax, General. You'll see. This will end without a drop of blood."

As the President said this a loud shot was heard from one of The Wall's towers. M-16 fire no doubt. It sounded throughout the perimiter of the camp. Everyone was silent. "Mr. President someone has fired a shot. I'll report back." The screen blanked off and Yard rushed to his Hummer and speeded to the tower. He ran up the stairs, looked at the captain and said, "What happened? Who fired a round?" The captain looked stunned as he stared out at the field below him on Weyr territory. A body lay in the field only 100 yds. off from The Wall. General Yard looked in horror and shouted,"Get a medical team out there now! Get my hummer and ready 4 men quickly! I want to find out what we shot."

He ran down the stairs, the medical team was ready and off before he was. The 4 men jumped in the hummer with the Yard and they sped towards the gate and to the body. The medical team was there around the body and were looking in disbelief. The body, was a child. She was carrying a basket full of flowers. Yard looked in disbelief and a tear streamed down his face. The tower guard had shot a child. Yard was furious. He sped back to the tower and grabbed the guard by the neck," Do you know what you shot?! Do you?!" He threw the man down the stairs and onto the hummer back seat. He sped towards the dead child and put the man's face into the child's. "Look you bastard! Look at what you have killed!" He pulled the man to his feet and took his own gun out of his holster. "You'll die for this." He pointed at his head and stood back. He aimed, and seconds later, another shot, another body, lay on Weyr soil. The first blood of a non-existent war.

Yard rushed back to the base near The Wall and brought the President back onto the viewscreen, "Yard, what happened? What did we shoot?" Victor was in pieces over this.

Yard closed his eyes and another tear ran down his face as he looked at Victor. "We shot a child, sir. A Weyr child. A tower guard mistaked her for something else. She was collecting flowers. The guard is dead but I don't think that will make up for it. Mr. President, prepare for the worst."

Victor leaned back in his chair as the screen blacked off. He let his glasses fall of his face and he looked at the Oval Ofice ceiling. "Let Weyr know of what has happened. We should prepare for the worst. This may undoubtedly start a war that we cannot prevent. God save us."

"And I care . . . why?" Alicia asked rhetorically. The thin air in the cabinet gave no reply. She hated when innocents were caught in the crossfire; but that did not change matters. Going to war because of one death . . .

'We do not protect people from their own stupidity' -- this was the motto adopted by every agency and body of the Weyrean government. A child had no business in the border zone during a potential conflict. If the parents were irresponsible enough to let their child wander off into militarized foreign territory, then they had paid the price. It was cold logic, but it worked surprisingly well once people figured out that no-one was there to wipe their bloody noses.

She sent a reply to Presedent Gramal, explaining that while the death of the child was a tragedy, it would not significantly affect future events. She could not say the same for Weyr's new allies. What they would really do if hostilities started was anyone’s guess. Alicia just hoped she would not have to find out.

There have been trenches dug along the Gramal-Weyr border. Along with the patrols that go around the border there has been a road constructed that will be used as a main supply line for the Allied-Forces. There have been bunkers also set up along the border with SSM (surface to surface missle) emplacements. A UH-60 Blackhawk has been sent to the San Texario HQ to discuss joint operations, Followed by 2 AH-64 Apache Longbows armed with ASM Hellfire(Air to Surface Missles) missles. The M-1 Abrahms tanks have been set into groups of three to ensure the protection of the troops in the trenches and foxholes. B-52 Bombers have been flown in and are on routine patrol over the skies. There are an undisclosed number of "Predator" spy drones also patroling the skies, along with an undisclosed number of the B-1 and B-2 stealth bombers.

We have no allies and it's all downhill if our initial invasion doesn't work. IF we invade."

He looks hard at the man, the man looks back at him and he tries to find the words in his mind.

"Mr. President, we have a unique situation. If Weyr allows more men to enter its country then I fear we must use our "weapon". You know which one I refer too." The room grew quiet. No one has ever talked about the "weapon" since the Yrubdard-Namitnef War.

A UH-60 with 2 AH-64 Apache Longbows have landed at the HQ of San Texario's forces. The pilot expertly lifted the chopper of the Helipad near the HQ and menuvered away.
-------
All of a sudden, and thin wisp of bright light lanced across the sky at an immeasurable speed, and one of the Longbows exploded. The pilot screamed into the radio, " THIS IS KILO-119er, WE ARE TAKING FIRE, OVER!" Itmeadiatly the radio buzzed with chatter, as the troops on the ground had not seen any action. The LongBow that had been hit was now spinning rapidly and was going to crash any second. The Pilot of the blackhawk moved into a holding pattern, and the crew inside itmmeadiatly turned on their NVS(Night Vision Systems) to look for any signs of possible ememies. The saw only the long trench stretching off into the distance in the fading light. They looked down, seeing only a few bunkers scattered across the harsh landscape, and men running, looking like little ants, to clamber into Hummers and Bradleys and chack out the situation. The other escort helicopter that had not been hit had turned around and was requesting permission to do what the helicopter crew liked to call a "shakin' sweep", where the pilot of the Longbow arms the 30 MM minigun on the nose of the gun, and takes "sweeps" of gunfire all across a designated area, raking the ground. Any ememies in that area are definatly not happy.

President Gramal stared down at the black table. The papers in front of him gave the order to use the most kept secret Gramal has. For these papers gave release of "The Bomb".

The Bomb was a thermonuclear plasma bomb. It destroys everything near and around the target area for 5 miles. It has never been used but for testing purposes. This time though, they were thinking of using it in the war.

There was one problem though, attack them all and they all attack you. That was Victor's thinking.

He sighed and looked up at his cabinet. They were all tired; and nervous.
"Get me the ruler of Weyr. We need to talk."

OOC: If Weyr fires the first shot, then yes it does. I'm still willing to negotiate. But being that Weyr has given its ruler emergency powers, then I guess it is a prelude.

IC:

General Yard recieved a teletype report from a spy deep within the Weyr government stating that its High Council has given its High King emergency powers. Making her the full and complete control hub of the entire country.

Yard relayed this message to the Defense Ministry,"Mr. President. One of our spies have reported that all power has been diverted to the High King of Weyr. I believe this is a prelude to war."

Victor looked at Yard through the viewscreen of the command center,"Alexander, what are you asking me to do?"

General Yard began to sweat,"I ask that you give me entire control of all forces on the Weyr-Gramal border. I want The Wall in my full control so we can protect Huron and Dixon from imminent invasion. But there's also something else."

Gramal looked at General Yard and said,"What is it,Yard?"

"Permission to produce a skirmish on the border front. There is an amunition depot not but three miles from our current position. Let me send in a squadron of F-15's and level the place. This will let Weyr know that we mean business. It may possibly bring them to the table for negotiations." Yard exhaled and held his next breath for the president's answer.

"Alexander, you understand that we have a Weyr envoy in our lands now. If we attack Weyr then it may spark the war. But I do see where you are coming from." He exhaled and looked at his Harold Drab, his Defense Minister, as he nodded.

"Commence your strike. The army is under your control for the time being,Yard. Do what you need with it. But Yard. If they so much as shoot one of our planes down then I'll have you held fully responsible if we lose this war." President Gramal was looking at General Yard dead in the face.

"Yes, sir!" Yard shouted.

The screen blacked out, the order was given, and the planes took off only ten minutes afterwards.

Meanwhile........................

The Weyr envoy was being escorted to the Defense MInistry Command Center under heavy guard. If Gramal slipped up with the diplomats then it was over.

"This way." said the captain of the envoy's escort.

They loaded into an elevator. One of the envoys noticed that there were twenty-four stories under the massive Defense Ministry Headquarters. They all realized it was going to be a long way down.

0800 Zulu-Gramal 145th Air Squadron over Weyr Airspace

"Roger that. Target is three minutes inbound." The radio was alive with chatter from the squadron. They were all eager to bomb the hell out of them.

"Alright boys,"said Commander Zachery Ward, the man in charge of the squadron detail,"Let's bomb the shit out of them."

They all dropped to one thousand feet above the ground and locked onto the target. It was an ammunition depot not too far from the border.

"Target locked. All fighters arm Mavericks." The latch on Ward's joystick flipped off as he concentrated on the mission.

WARNING! WARNING! shouted a loud voice into his helmet.

"Shit! SAM's! Pull up! Pull up!" shouted Ward.

Two missles from a defense turret flew by them and smashed into the mountain side. Ward exhaled in disbelief.

He was mad now. No one shot at him and lived to tell about it. He fly down low to 400 feet and launched one missle at the SAM tower. Weyr soldiers jumped out of the tower just as it exploded.
The 145th flew by the ammo depot fast and circled around. Anti-air fire was dense as they came back down.

"Lock and load boys! Blow em to hell!"

Ward loosed two missles at the depot and so did the rest of the squadron. They all pulled up rapidly after they were loosed. The streamed by the gun towers of the depot and slammed into the deep underbelly of the cavern. A loud explosion scattered debris all aroudn the site. General Yard looked up as it exploed and laughed,"They got em! Ha ha!"

Ward said,"Alright boys. Clean up time. Scrap any survivors."

General Yard sent this message to President Gramal:

Mr. President,

The ammunitions depot has been destroyed. Zero casualties. All fighters have or are returning back to base. The Wall is on full alert. We're ready if they retaliate. Mobile and fixed SAM sites are armed and ready to shoot any opposition down. 102nd F-16 Fighter Wing is running full air-superiority patrols over our space. Entire Weyr contingent has been destroyed.

Governor General Stanley Molotov was sitting at his desk watching some ESPN when an aid burst into his office.

“Sir, we have troops movements on the Gramal Side of the border. They have already destroyed a weapons depot just inside the Weyr border. Allied troops have the situation under control for now but I fear if this escalates they may need our help.”

“Damn them, I thought they were negotiating,” said Stanley under his breath.

“Well our intelligence says that this attack was launched while the negotiations were taking place.”

“What the hell kind of tactics is this? Very well move in the fleet I want it in position and the 50,000 troops in Weyr by this time tomorrow! Place the troops inside our country on high alert! Don’t just stand there man do it!” Molotov yelled as he jumped up from his chair and headed for the door. “I need to address the nation.”

2 hours later…

“People of Beta Aurigae VII, it is with the greatest regret I inform you that as of 2 hours ago our nation has declared war with the nation of Gramal in response to an attack upon the nation of Weyr. As many of you know we have had a fleet and troops in the waters around Weyr for some time now for this exact reason. Long live the Beta Aurigae VII and long live the nation of Weyr, and may God forgive us for what we are about to do.”

Meanwhile on the bridge of the RSS Sabertooth flagship of the Beta Auriage fleet in the water around Weyr…

“Admiral we’re receiving a communiqué from the capital city. Put it through on the closed circuit,” said Fleet Admiral James MacCloud.

“The war has begun Admiral the Governor General has ordered your fleet to deployment range immediately. Good luck Admiral.”

“Let’s get this moving,” James said as he reached for the comm to inform the rest of the fleet. “Now here this, now here this. We are now in a state of war the fleet has been ordered to move to deployment range and get the troops on the ground in Weyr. ETA 5 hours I want to be ready to deploy immediatley.”

The Admiral turned the comm off as klaxons sounded on all ships in the fleet. He gave a great sigh and muttered to himself “So it begins.”

"Yes ser," an image of the tank commander projected before Commander Adelie.
"Other way," Erick motioned, pointing directly behind the tank.
"Stet."

Erick waited as the tanks went into reverse. This was the primary highway linking Gramal and Weyr. Any mechanized offensive would have to go through here in order to capture the capital city. The still-smoking ruins of the weapons depot loomed several miles in front, ignored by most of the workers.

"Sit down, General." said the President. Victor Gramal was growing tired of this. His face was showing his age and his frustration. "Let Weyr know that the strike was only a minor skirmish. Ask Weyr's king to come to Huron and maybe we can discuss a cease-fire. But for now. General," he turned to face Galloway,"You may have only 50,000 more troops at The Wall. Make sure that if or when the King of Weyr arrives that she gets a full military and police escort. Make sure that she is welcomed with open arms. Make the press all over this. "You will be given an extra fifty thousand men to reinforce your position. Make sure your men are ready if this goes up in flames. Also we have sent an invitation to the High King of Weyr. She is expected to respond and possible arrive inside our airspace. She'll have her own aircraft, General. Give her a military escort once she arrives. Make sure that she gets to Huron safely and unharmed."He stared hard at the man for a second,"Good job on the strike, Alex. On a major note. I'm giving you a promotion. Congradulations are in order. Your new rank is three-star. You're now just under General Galloway by a few medals. Maybe someday I'll have you at my side. But for now, keep your men sharp. I don't want any slip ups."

Alicia scrolled through the brief projected before her as the helicraft crossed over the Gramal border. The four diagonal rotors sent a thrum through the cabin -- an unpleasant but not particularly disruptive sound. The silver-gray craft rapidly ate up the miles between Wye and the landing point designated by Gramal.

First they wanted a delegate, now they wanted the High King. Well, Alicia had sent her reply that she would arrive in person, and the pilot had sent the warning to Gramal forces several minutes ago. She might have been worried about Ash, had she not known his capabilities. The man was metaphorically a walking bomb even though he bore no weapons, detectable or otherwise. There was still the matter with Talaran, but that could wait. For now, she tried to relax and focus on the upcoming talks.

Grand Alchemist Neverille looked out the oval window of the craft, down at the earth speeding past. They were flying only a few hundred meters above ground. Members of the Tower had been killed, and he was there to find out why, and to act as the king’s second set of eyes and ears. At only 41, he did not look the part of one of the most powerful men in Weyr.

Brigadier-General Elton Gran sat in the command chair in the CIC in the High Guard Court. They had nearly 55,000 troops deployed at the Gramal-Weyr border, with nearly as many projected to come out of reserve and report for duty within the next thirty-six hours. The idea in case of invasion was not to hold off the enemy forces, but to fight a holding action until all non-combatants were behind the Citadel shields.
The strike against the depot was as pointless as could be, he mused. He told as much to Alicia an hour before. Had it been very important, the depot would have been shielded, or at least covered by computer-aimed banks of ‘casters and missiles.

The radio fizzled into the pilot's helmet,"Proceed to Huron Military Airfield #3. You will be escorted to the Defense Ministry under heavy guard as to protect you from any miscreants that may object to you coming within the nation. Within five miles of the airfield you will be escorted by two Comanche attack copters. These again are for protection. Huron Airfield out."

The radio fizzled off and the pilot looked at Alicia,"Ser. We have been given orders to land at Huron Military Airfield #3."

"Very good. Get there quick." said Alicia.

1200 Hours Zulu-Gramal Naval Headquarters, Dixon

Admiral Zachary Furuk stood looking out at the two of the three islands in his view. To his left was the island city of Yaha and to his right was the mainland and the city of Huron.

"Admiral." the commander said behind him,"We have just recieved word from the docks confirming the arrival of the three fleets just purchased arriving. The battle groups are ready and awaitig your order, sir."

"Very good. Put the Flag Fleet underway to Huron. Send the rest to go on full patrol of the entire waterway area. Let's make em battle ready commander." he said without even turning around.

"Yes, sir." The commander turned and before he could open the door Furuk said,"Send out the new subs on an espionage mission of the Aurigae Fleet."

The commander was hesitant but acknowledged his command.

1300 Hours Zulu-Spirit Class Nuclear Attack Sub "Detroit"

Admiral Czech Yuri sat at the CON and watched as the rest of the four submarines followed closely behind his lead. The submarines were recently made only two years prior to the conflict. They were the finest of the fleet.

Yuri stood up and began his orders,"Chief of the Watch, let's go silent. All ahead full."

"Aye, sir. All ahead full run silent." The chief turned to the radio and switched it on. "Now here this! Run silent! All hands to battlestations! All ahead full."

The Detroit was allive with the hurrying of men up and down the laders, torpedos being armed with the tubes flooded, and then seconds later the entire submarine was silent. The other sister subs (Cincinatti, Houston, Dallas) followed suit and went silent. Pretty soon the only sound was the silent thrumming of the screws.

"Protection," Neverille grinned as the two Comanches flanked the helo and matched speed.
"Think they'll try something?" the copilot asked over the helm com.
"We'll see," Alicia shrugged. The new helo design was never tested in actual warfare, even if Integrated Auto claimed that the chassis could withstand high explosive rounds. The trouble was that Weyr's military equipment was designed to be used against other equipment also made in Weyr, and Weyr's magitech was not very popular outside of the Kingdom's borders.
"I still want to know what happened to Lord Ash," Neverille commmented.
"Does it matter?" Alicia asked.

-Fifteen minutes later-

The helo touched down on the tarmak, its rotary blades sending up a whirlwind of air and particles. The door opened with a slight hiss, and Alicia took off her helm and followed Neverille off the craft, jumping down onto the hard ground. The setting sun was low in the sky, reflecting off the windshields of the many escort vehicles pulling up to, or already parked, near the helo.

A large limosine pulled up beside the helo with the flag of Gramal waving in the wind. The driver got out and opened the door. A large man that towered over many stepped out. It was Defense Minister Harold Drab.

"Good evening." he said. "I hope that you had a nice flight from Weyr to here. Please get in." he motioned to the door.

Once inside the driver shut the door and a full line of military escorts surrounded the limosine. Moments later the convoy was underway and soon the first actual negotiations would take place.

"Alright. I want champagne, caviar, and other things for us to snack on here. Her majesty the King must be fully welcome at all costs." barked the President. For the first time since the Namitnef/Yrubdarb War this is the first real visit from a foreign leader to Gramal soil. Victor wanted everything perfect.

He looked out of his window and watched as the convoy of flashing lights and military vehicles moved through the city of Huron. The Defense Ministry was high above the city on Mt. Huron. From there he could see everything; including The Wall.

"Soon," he said,"soon there will be an end."

The hummer containing General Leclerc had arrived at the border with 200 Abrams as requested by the Admiral. Leclerc stepped out of the vehicle and was immediatly met by an aid to the commander of the Weyr forces.

"Right this way general," said the aid and he led Leclerc to a tent a few meters away.

Leclerc stopped before he entered the tent and said to Bradley who had accompanied him. "Move the tanks into position and get me another 500 troops here by helicopter ASAP, i want us ready for anything. Also get us daily Reaper flights in this area, but get this straight none of our forces cross the border, none or there will be hell to pay."

The Spirit submarines were brand new and so far were holding straight to what they were designed for. Stealth underwater.

"Sonar contact. Destroyer. Beta Aurigae nationality. Passive Sonar." blared the sonar room.

Admiral Yuri paced to the hatch of the room,"Alright ensign. Keep me informed. Remember, keep quiet."

He turned aroudn towards the helm's man,"Keep goign straight. Inform the others about this and let's go into the fleet. Remember. Espionage. Not conflict."

"Yes, Sir."

As the orders were given the message was relayed to the other submarines to split up and search the fleet to see their effectivness against it.

"Let's keep this simple people. We don't want war with these people."

Admiral Yuri sat back down at his seat and lit a cigar.

"Thank you," Alicia said in reply to Defense Minister Harold Drab, getting into the limo, and followed immediately by Neverille. Big escort, she thought, as the procession began moving through the city. As long as they could get a decent agreement, and as long as the Regional Councils did not attempt to act on their own in her absence, everything would be fine.

Some few minutes into the city, Alicia realized what had been bothering her -- the slight smell of petrol fuel. Of course, she reprimanded herself, Weyr did not export 'cyc-based products; there simply wasn't a market for them.

OOC: ok a little farther down the post you will read about sending submarines. this has no direct link to Gramal's post. it was an oversight by me when i first sent in my fleet and seeing Gramal's post reminded me they weren't there. thought you should know so no one cries foul. even with the subs i shouldn't be able to detect yours anyhow because yours are stealth subs. they will arrive at my position in three RL days but 1 RP week.

IC: Inside the tent along the Gramal/Weyr border General Leclerc had just started his conversation with the Weyr commander.

"Is the fleet ready for combat?" asked Admiral MacCloud.

"It is sir but we have one small problem."

"And what would that be?"

"We have no submarines sir."

Ok i gotta calm down here this was my fault because i was being a moron. We need to recitfy my stupidity right away. Get the navy to send out 15 Hammerheads ASAP."

"But sir it will still take at least 1 week for them to get here."

"Somehow i don't think this will be over in a week," said MacCloud. , "Now give the order."

"Yes sir," the aid replied and he rushed out of the room.

"This will still be alright the sub defenses on our ship should be enough for now if we go naval battling anytime soon. Sooner or later though we'll need subs in the water to make this whole thing effective. Meanwhile i should double the shifts on the sub defenses just in case," said the Admiral to himself. Then he went and called up to the bridge to give the order. He sat back down in his chair and poured himself a whiskey instantly feeling better about the whole situation.

"Can you hold your forces in reserve for the northern sector," Brigadier-General Elton Gran stated, his words bordering betwen a question and a command. "Commander Erick?"

"Ser," Erick keyed in a few commands, bringing up a projected image at the center of the tent, then stood up and walked up to it. "As you can see, San Texario and Akita-Ryuvius have their forces primarily concentrated in the south," he pointed, panning the map and highliting the current positions. "We currently have most of our forces in the northern sector," another section was highlited, "which will probably be the primary invasion route. The southern region is swamp and lowland -- not good for mechanized offensives. The far north is rugged and has no roads or paths for vehicles. So, Gramal will invade through here, probably along one of these highways," the northern sector and the said highways were highlited. "We have our forces spread along the northern front at approximately 48,000 soldiers. You should provide the mobile support to those portions of the northern sector in need of assistance."

Inside the tent General Leclerc studied the map for a minute and indicated a point on the map that seemed to be the weakest postion in the defense.

"I'll pull 35,000 troops and 5,000 Abrams and keep 10,000 troops back a little in case Gramal would break the line we need something in defense. I'll also pull 750 Reapers to permanently station them with the troops. i will also get some of my men to put up temporary airfields with AA defenses to house about 65 F-22's. there will be the standard mobile AA and stinger missles placed to defend in the air as well. that should be sufficent for now."

Leclerc walked out of the tent and signaled to his aid. he gave the aid a piece of paper and told him to get the troops where specified as fast as possible. as the sid walked away the general walked to the hummer and radioed to the Admiral to keep him aprised of the situation on land.

General Nick Wright stooped over the map with some of his assistants, "Okay, what do we got?"
An aid took out a pointer which would highlight the electric map, "We have Aurigae troops pulling here, and our newly arrived air troops (OOC: the post musta screwed up but yesterday I psted an additional 4000 troops and 400 other copters for quick support) have landed here in this clear area. Up here, are the elite Weyr troops. But, we must look to our defenses. We pulled 5,000 troops out here from Mid-Weyr border. If they attack there we can't hold. But, we did this to be able to have more defenses. Currently, we have the Desert Eagles concentrated here, with half as defense and the other half as patrol," he concluded.

Another aid stepped up to the area and took the pointer, "We had to pull them out because it would have been slaughter. We have pill boxes in groups here, here, and here. But, if we want better defenses we will need more of them."

"Very well then," said General Wright, "Construct enough pillboxes and bunkers to house 7,500 troops, I want to move an additional 2,500 troops from here and then move more around accordingly, now that we have reinfocrments."

General Hayama Looked out from the side of the UH-60 Black Hawk's Main carraige across the barren Weyr landscape. He could see the faint line that was the trench sketched into the desert, stretching away into the distance. When they landed, he and his aides rushed under a tarp with their heads down from the spinning rotor blades. He hurried over to a giant projector screen and a tech-boy turned on the projector. Major Jotar Yamata explained the situation to the General.

"I want 5,000 troops and adequete supplies and support to surround large cities near the border and garrison them. Do you think you can get this done today, Major? I dont know if we'll even have 24 hours to work with..." Ordered Hayama over the din of a passing helicopter.

"Yes Sah!" Shouted Yamata back, still over the helicopter's roar, saluting, and then left the tent.
-------
Later that day Gen. Hayama went to the forward observation center along the Gramal-Weyr border. He watched two f-18 hornets doing routine drills, doing barrelrolls and loops over and over, over the barren land. He listened to the cakcle of speech on the radio.
"2-5 this is Fox-1, taking her into m-3, over!" Said the pilot of the first f-18.
Gn. Hayama watched with a dull fascination as the jet sped beyond the sound barrier three times over. It flew over, making no sound, until a few seconds later, and the windows rattled dangerously. He saw c-5 cargo planes and helicopters in the distance flying to the east of him, to the airstrip to drop off the extra 5,000 troops needed to garrison the towns along the border. Along with the 5,000 he ordered, he also requested relief aid for the citizens of the town. His wish was granted, and the Indigo Cross would arrive the next day and set up food distribution centers for the needy.
OOC: No Offense to Weyr about the relief aid saying that your people are poor, they are proboly not, but obviously in times of war (or in this case near war) there is usually a inflation, and smaller cities usually suffer the most. So just in case, they're there for anybody who need's them.

General Yard sat at his desk in the command post near the border sipping his tea occasionally. Suddenly a roar and a ground shaking thrum filled his ears and caused his tea to spill. He looked outside and saw the 101st Tactical Helcopter Squadron landing. 300 Apache Attack Helicopters, 100 Cobra Tank Killers, and the newly acquired 50 Comanche Attack Helicopters landed before the base all in rows. The sound and the vibrations from the blades caused a deafening roar to fill the base.

On the other side, the roar could be heard by a Weyrian soldier digging trenches. It was a sound of a multitude of firepower that has never been heard before by his ears.

The blades stopped on all of the helos and the roar stopped. From each of the helos a pilot and co-pilot stepped out. From each group there was a leader. The most high ranking was Colonel Zachari Lamb. Lamb was a veteran pilot from the war between Yrubdarb and Namitnef. He was one of the best pilots known in the Gramal Air Force. He was also General Yard's nephew. Surprisingly they never saw eye to eye.

"General Yard. We're your reinforcements. President Gramal has sent us for you to use at your disposal.", he stood before the General staring at him smiling,"So. What's your orders?"

Yard stood looking at him almost intrigued by his smile. "Get your gear and your men bunked up . I want at least three of each helo doing border patrols. As for you,"he paused for a minute,"Go to the command center and get updated on what has happened lately.

"Yes, sir." he saluted and walked off.

After Lamb had left a soldier came up to Yard. "Sir, the 85th Infantry Division has arrived. Also, sir. The 45th, 35th, and 75th Tank Divisions have arrived. Another thing, sir. Reinforcements from the Island City are enroute to us, sir. Admiral Duran has sent his 54th Marine Special Forces Division to us. Total manpower that the President is sending us totals to 30,000 infantry and 100,000 armored vehicles, sir."

Yard looked at the soldier,"Thank you son. Now get back to your post."

"Yes, sir!" he marched off and went back to his tower guard post.

Yard looked out at the dust forming on the far side of the Huron Fields. He took out his long range binoculars and saw the divisions coming just as the soldier had said. The radar confirmed C-135's flying for the airfields. Soon the number of troops would total 350,000 men total. His hopes for battle were growing stronger.

0200 Hours Zulu-ARGS Detroit: Underneathe the Beta Aurigae Fleet

Admiral Yuri looked at the radar and saw the one thing he had feared. Active sonar. The fleet above them had been put on alert somehow. The submarines had to make a rapid decent into the canyons. The Arguile Canyons were treacherous to a submarine. But thankfully there were oceanic maps for that. Not to mention sonar helped a bit. They followed the path of the canyon and towards Gramal waters.

"Sir, the Arguile Twins are coming up in T-5 minutes." said the navigator.

"Very good. Begin your run." as he turned to face the holographic display.

The Arguile Twins was a sharp fork that split the waters of Gramal in two. One canyon would take you to Dixon and the other would turn you backwards and you would end up right where you left off. The only problem is that there are two archs the size of one submarine. If any mistake was made then the archs would collapse and they would have to go above the canyon walls to get back on course.

"Beginning run now."

The fork was dead ahead but before they could get to it they had to make sure it was an exact lineup. They had only 400 yards to get it right.

"Steady. Left. Left. Up. Right. Right. Left." said the navigator to the helmsmen. The sequence was written on the map provided. If they did not make the eact movements then they would miss and could not go through.

"Left. Left. Right. Right. Down 32 degrees." The movements were read outloud and the entire cabin was quiet. Admiral Yuri watched the screen from the frontal view cameras mounted on the outter hull.

"Right. Right. Shit. Stop!" yelled the navigator.

"Sir, we're off. We're going down the wrong canyon. Damnit!"

Yuri got up and looked at him dead faced. You know what we must do? The rest of the fleet has returned to Dixon already. We stayed behind to ensure that they would not be seen. This means we must reveal ourselves now."

The sailor hung his head and said "Yes, sir."

Yuri exhaled as he looked at the view screen. "Alright cheif. Bring us up. Let's get this over with."

"Helmsmen. Make your depth 300 feet. 10 degrees up bubble."

The sub began to rise slowly. As soon as it was out of the canyon, the fleet would know they were there. They were two miles from the border. Hopefully they could get there before they were shot at.

"We're out of the canyon, sir."

A destroyer near the edge of the fleet first spotted the sub. Then the rest of the fleet spotted them. The sailor ran to the captain and shouted,"Sir! Sonar contact! Gramalian submarine. Spirit class. Active pinging sonar. Range 400 yards and closing."

The captain stood up and they both ran back to the sonar room. He looked at the screen and picked up the communications phone to the radio room,"Get me High Command. Now, damnit, now!"

0500 Hours Zulu-Gramal Defense Ministry

Defense Minister Drab stepped out of the limosine and held out his hand. A woman's hand grasped it and out stood Alicia, High King of Weyr. She looked up at the massive building. It looked like a giant pentagon. It was eight stories high and it almost blocked the sun from the street. The ride had taken them almost an hour.

Drab stepped up to the steps and waved his hand, "This way."

They all began to climb the steps up to the door. Once to the door a security scanner examined all of them for any weapons of any kind. They were clean. Once inside a cadre of military police escorted them to a waiting elevator. The elevator didn't go up but to one floor. The Office of the President of the Armed Republic of Gramal.

Victor saw the lights of the elevator light up. He stood and walked to the center of the room. He stood in front of his desk and waited. He had hoped that maybe on some occasion that Alicia would do the same for him one day. Wait at her office so they cant meet one different circumstances. "Maybe," he said to himself,"maybe some day I will."

IC (assuming the above is true): Admiral MacCloud had just recieved the call from the destroyer captian whos ship had picked up the Gramal submarine.

"What do you think the purpose of it being here was Desrochers," asked MacCloud into the phone.

"Well sir my guess would be just intelligence because they aren't attacking and its going pretty damn fast the other way," came the reply from captain Desrochers.

"Let it go back to Gramal it may be a trap to lure more of the fleet in."

"But sir," came a protest from the other side of the phone.

"You heard me captain, thats an order. Besides i have word that our requested submarines are only 6 hours distant from the rear of the fleet."

"Very well sir," Desrochers said and he hung up the phone.

Leclerc stood in front of the map that was given to him by Weyr to monitor his the troops movements. As he was looking at it he saw that there was still one point that could possibly be broken. he also saw that pillboxes were being constructed to make the area less susceptible to invasion. With the troops relatively in place and the allies with everything together it was about time he built his command center.

"Get some men together so we can start to build the command center," said Leclec to the aid beside him.

He turned to a bottle of Brandy and offered her a glass.

"Your Highness. The reason we are being 'aggressive', as you put it, is because my joint chiefs feel that because you have not asked for any trade, economical aide, monetary aide, or even military aide that you are totally ubrupt and have cast our hand of friendship aside. At that time the base was alive. The infantry divisions were loading into the helos and the planes were on full fly-by's of The Wall. F-22's, F-16's, F-18's, and not to mention the new SU-37's. The helo squadron was running low flying patrols of the wall. The tank divisions had just arrived and General Henry Ujurk was walking to meet Yard. Together they could destroy any opposition.

"Lie up the artillery. 300 meter increments. Make them battle ready."

Once Yard had said that the Chinooks began to lift off. They created a massive roar that even General Leclerc and his staff heard the roar. Yard was confident that his plan would work.

OOC: What is "The Wall", Gramal? Is it like the great wall of China in real life, except it covers the entire border?
-------
IC: Gen. Hayama requested the 5,000 troops be stationed in all townships in the Southpoint and Veryl regions. As for Excent city, he thought, we'll just have to move more inward, a few miles away from the city and cover all trade routes, everything will be opertional as normal. There will be no restrictions on transportation(OOC: dont want the regional councils to think i am ignoring their requests), only if the war starts. They will also be within 10-15 mins driving time and 5 mins flying time (By Helo's, of course) in case the town is in trouble.

OOC: Satellites allowed?
IC: "SIR!" an aid ran into the command room, "General Wright, we are reporting an increase of patrol on the Gramal side of the border. Air patrol...what should we do?"

"Set a watch on every watch tower along our positions. I want 'round the clock surveylance of those planes. Get the high power binoculars, and get long range telescopics up on them too," he ordered to the aid and called for another, "I want a request sent in. We need more defense artillery units. And send for more mobile AA batteries, we don't want to be mauled completely by those planes."

"Yes, General Wright," said the aid and hustled off.

" . . . All companies reporting in," the com-tech stated from his console.
". . . reports of increased activity . . . border . . ."
". . . central reports . . . citadels at standby . . ." the old command bunker hummed with activity. It had taken several days to get the structure fully operational. Buried a dozen meters beneath the earth, and now equipped with the latest gear available, it controlled the entire northern section of the border.
“Ser, Magus Elrin is here,” an aide came in, followed by a tall man of perhaps fifty years . . .

****

“Why the frig’re we diggin these trenches?”
“Because,” the trenches are a decoy, Captain Cyril did not say. The new targeting systems made them too easy to hit. Behind the trenches were fortified gun emplacements, which were also decoys and not meant to fire more than a few shots. The only real thing in the entire defense were the tons of organic explosives planted beneath the earth – a legacy of the civil war fought over three decades ago. When the invasion started . . . the captains would know what to do. Cyril got into his jeep, looked at The Wall as it started up.

****

“Having over half of your army mobilized along our border and putting up a full blockade in under a week isn’t aggressive?” Alicia raised an eyebrow, sipping the brandy. Neverille stood back, waiting. “I believe you know that there has only been one case where we have placed a tariff on imports in the last decade, and it was repealed over a year ago [OOC: High Council Act 0981: 75% tax on automotive imports; repealed]. I don’t see how trade can be an issue here, not when we’ve kept open borders to trade and tourism for three decades. Nor do I see how refusing aid when it is totally unnecessary can be viewed as ‘casting aside the hand of friendship’. What do you –really- want, Mr. President?”
’All-out invasion in five minutes time’? We’ll see; maybe it’s a warning about an imminent invasion, maybe just a reference to something past. Alicia thought.

OOC: Even EMP launching satellites? (explode small neutron bombs in enclosed lead spaces and then opened to release an EMP in a controlled area) Though, they do need to be reactivated after every shot, so support needs time to get up...

IC:
General Wright stooped over his map, which was currently zoomed out to show the whole world on a flat map. Indicated on it, was an orbital pattern, showing a curved, yellow line in the orbit of the Gruntis I, and a stationary, yellow dot for the stationary Gruntis II. The EMP satellites. He made a call into Military High Command (MHC) in San Texario. "High Commander Bane speaking. Who am I talking to?" answered the man on the line.

"This is General Nick Wright. I am requesting that the Gruntis I's orbit be adjusted to be able to hold orbit over the border of Gramal and Weyr, and able to be moved. I am also requesting that two ships (modern, just one is larger, a support, and the other is smaller [to reactivate and reload the Gruntis I], launched by multiple rocket engines then taken over by their own...) be dispatched as I have a feeling we may need many."

"Very well. I am transmitting the Data for the quickest time. Orbit should be up ETA 8 hours, and the ships should be able to get in position 6 hours after that."

"Okay, Wright out," he said and hung up.
---
In response to the code of imminent invasion, all units have been put on 18 hour shifts, 5 hours of sleep, and 1 hour mealtime total. 24 different shifts with a change every hour. Sleep, then one hour meal, then their shift starts again.

OOC: I was posting a huge post but for some reason it got deleted. It described how a two man sniper team crpt about 200 yards forward of the Allied forces lines and radioed back to their team about what they saw on The Wall. IT also described a nervous hummvee's gunner and his repeated nervouse checks of his .50 Caliber machine gun. I was also talking about a 3 Helicopter patrol of AH-60 Apache longbows and how their weapons were fully armed and ready for anything, along with all the forces on th ground an their orders to be on full alert because of the recent troop movement.
-------
IC:(Try and write one more thing) At the training grounds for the ranger's weaponry some special targets had been set up for the helicopters. A single UH-60 BlackHawk hovered, turned to it's left so the cabin was exposed, and the 7.62MM Minigun (OOC:kind of like a gatlingun for those who dont know) opened up at the large bullseye set up on the plain. It spewed forth over 1000 rounds per minute, jetting its spent cartridges out the side in a hail of searing hot brass onto the ground. The paper target was ripped to shreads by the powerful machinegun. The gun shot so fast each individual shot could not register with the human's ears on the ground, so it sounded like a dull roar (OOC: like a weedwacker in RL, except louder and much deeper).
Up next was an Apache Longbow, witch discharged one(only one, they cost over 4,000 Yenons[Akita-Ryuvian Currency] per missle) HellFire missle at a rubber dummy tank, and it exploded in a flash of burning rubber. The helo then fired it's small three-barrel 30MM minigun turret on the nose which tore apart another paper target in the same fashion the BlackHawk did. The spent casings clashed to the ground, jangling like bells.
The rangers on the ground then opened up in unison with there small arms fire, seemingly weak and insufficient compared to the massive firepower that had so utterly detroyed those targets only minutes before. M-16s, M-4,s M-249 Saws and M-60 Machine Guns opened up along the firing range line at targets down range about 100-400 yards in the shape of humans. They all together created a lustrious roar which drowned out even the growl of a convoy of passing planes and helicopters. News reporters gathered to the end of the range, one even attempting to make a newscast live on the spot, but it was proving difficult with all the noise. The reporters and crewmen alike lined up in four or five single-file lines to learn how to use the rangers expansive arsenal. They were all as nervous as the next, laughing at when one would put out their hands in front of them and watch with mild amusement as their fingers involuntary twitched with anxiety.

OOC: Here's what The Wall is. It's eighty feet high, twenty-four feet thick, steel and titanium reinforced concrete that surrounds the border of any nearby nation. It's topped with razor wire. Every one hundred feet there is a guard tower. Four .50 caliber machine guns are in each tower. Underneathe the towers are shafts leading into the wall. There is a corridor that is eight feet wide with no doors; except one. The one door leads into the command center. The command center is down nineteen flights of stairs deep under the earth. Once down the flights of stairs there is a large forty foot double door. It is steel with titanium reinforced bars. Only two people have access to this room. The President and General Alexander Yard. Once inside the room there is a round table surrouned by communications equipment, radar, sonar (for echolocation purposes, as you know sound travels), and one red box on the side of the largest chair in the room. This chair is for the President. There are three keys to be inserted. One General Yard has, another the President, and the third is Defense Minister Harold Drab's. Once inserted into this box and turned all at once, the box opens. It reveals a red button and a key card. The card containsthe authorization codes for Gramal's nuclear arsenal. The President can only get this card by a full thumb print analyzation. Now if that option is never used then there is a tunnel/escape route. The tunnel leads to a high speed monorail that takes the cabinet and the President to a hidden location. Once the staff, cabinet, and the President are inside of the train then the room is sealed shut and pressurized. If the room is attempted to be opened again Drab, Yard, and the President must be present to do a full voice and palm print identification. Now. That's the underlayer. The Wall's outlayer is impressive itself. Razor wire on the top of it, SAM sites built into the tops of the towers creates an impenetrable field of missle batteries. Even at high altitudes. There are three entrances on The Wall. One at the dead center of it, one at the bottom half only twenty-five miles to the coast, and the third at the northernmost part of it. This prevents any one army from invading through one point making it almost perfect. Infront of The Wall, beginning at the base, is a mine and claymore field that stretches out one hundred yards around the entire wall. Along the inside field of it, there are five bases. One is a naval base located on the southernmost point of the nation. The rest stretch out along The Wall in two hundred mile increments. General Yard's main force is located at base three. Dead center with the doors at the center of it. The base's name is Grant Military Command Base. I hope this is specific enough.

Also as far as EMP satellites come, that's totally out of the question. Makes it totally unfair. Don't like it? Tough.

IC:

President Gramal looked at Alicia very carefully. Almost stern. He sat his glass down upon the coaster on top of his desk. Licked his lips and spoke,"Madam, I don't know what the fuss is all about. We asked for trade rights. You denied them. We asked for any rights and your government denied them. This results in aggession. If you couldn't tell we are a large nation of industries." he leaned forward a bit over the top of the desk,"But, as far as the blockade goes, that's realtively slow. Our navy can mobilize itself from Dixon and to your country in three days. They took a week. And as the Beta Aurigae Fleet noticed earlier today,"he pulled out a file from a drawer and threw it on the desk infront of her,"we have capabilities that far exceed what you think." He smiled and opened the file for her.

"These submarine photos show that we have full knowledge of the capabilities of their armada. They had no submarines at the time. You see. We sent in four Spirit Class submarines. All of them which returned. Admiral Yuri lead the invasion of their fleet. Seemed to work."

He stood up and looked out the window behind him. You see Alicia." he turned to her and smiled," It's your turn to negotiate. For you see. We have sent a massive force of men to the front lines. Over four hundred thousand. That doesn't even include our airforce or navy. Only thing I have to do is pick up this phone here,"he pointed at the red one without dialing numbers,"and call General Yard and Admiral Duran. Your country would put up a good fight especially with your allied forces. And don't even try that little trick ofyour with organic explosives. Thermal satellite readouts gives us total coordinates for each and every one. All we have to do is fire at one of them and the rest will follow."

He threw another file containing the images from their oribital satellites.

"So,"he picked up his glass,"what's your response this time?"

In response to recent massive Gramali troop movements, ground support Naval Fleet 6 has been sent to waters close to Gramal and Weyr. It contains the following:
1 Griffith Class Flag-Ship to command the naval forces in the water.
2 Leviathan Class Missle Carrier and Launcher (Armed with a massive arsenal of 2000 Tomahawk, Trident and Pearl Missles each).
1 Assault Class Small Aircraft Carrier (Payload of equivalent of: 50 Jet aircraft, 20 Helicopters, 400 Drone planes[non-armed] and 4 radar craft).
4 Destroyers, 2 Cruisers and 2 subs.
They are all there to support the ground forces.

A prototype G-9 EHA(Extremely High Altidude) Surveillance plane has been flown in via C-135's. Its can reach altidudes beyond the outermost part of the Atmosphere, about 1 Klick away from it, higher than any SAM Missle or AA Battery can reach, in fact higher then virtually every plane in existance. It is an unnmanned aircraft. It is currently in flight in an undisclosed location, observing troop movements.

Wow, those things are still around? Alicia thought of the explosives. The things were supposed to have been cleared out during the reconstruction. Even if they were exploded, the resulting chemical fires would take days to burn out, and the fumes and residual elements would then make the whole swathe of land nearly impassable for unprotected soldiers for some time afterwards.

"How did we deny your rights, exactly?" she asked, ignoring the portfolio. She knew most of it, and it was irrelevant to the matter at hand anyway. "I stated specifically that your nation could do what it wanted, but that Weyr had no need of aid or any government-to-government trade [OOC: which is different from when a Gramal company comes into Weyr and starts setting up factories]. You refused our offer of sending a formal diplomatic delegation, and asked instead for consessions. If denying consessions on trade and military to your nation is an act of agression, then there is nothing to talk about." . "You appeaer to be bent on war. If you want a war, then you will get it." she shrugged dismissively.

Wrrrrrrrreeee an azure-red beam shot from the turret of a strange-looking tank, arcing towards a derelict T-90.
"Halt," Alchemist Durgan commanded. The beam vanished. A hole twelve inches in diameter could be seen neatly drilled in the turret of the T-90. Had there been any shells inside, the entire tank would have gone up n a fireball of death. "Is this acceptable?" Durgan asked, turning to the observers.
"Why we did not purchase any of these before?" Brigadier-General Gran asked.
"No funds," his adjunct replied. One of Alicia's last acts before leaving for gramal had been to grant the Brigadier-General unlimited access to High Guard funds.
"We can have a hundred of these out within two weeks, provided some corners are cut," Durgan commented offhandedly.
"We need five times that," the Brigadier-General stated.
"Impossible," the Alchemist retorted. "Then there is the matter of payment. Over half the factory has to be retooled. Our other contracts have to be dishonored. This is not a very easy thing for us to do, General."
"How much?" Gran asked.
The alchemist wrote a sum on his notebook.
"Fine," the Brigadier-General responded, swallowing. "Of course, if you were to drop the price, for an exclusive contract . . . "

IC: Updated satellite photos went into the Command room. General Wright looked over the photos with Major General Chris Sims and Colonal Matt Adams. "What's this? That's over 400,000 troops! Last reports were less than half of that number!" said Gen. Wright.

"Sir, we must call for reinforcments. They have the Allied troops outnumbered. We need a lot of reinforcments too. If you'd like my estimates, the 2nd Airborne at least, with the rest of the 1st Infantry legion, giving us 200,000 troops. But their numbers will still be many. We could call in after that the 2nd infantry. But, it is imperitive that we look to our current defenses. We need to bring in the 1st Heavy Infantry division's machine gunners. That's at least 50,000 troops, which would give us a total amount of about 110,000 troops and support, enough to fend off a spread out invasion. But we do have one other option. We could get some Grenadiers from Tyrantis," concluded Maj. Gen. Sims

"Yes, that sounds good. We need to get the rest of the 1st Legion. And those gunners. I'll patch the line in to High Command."
---
Wright patched in a call to MHC.
"Commander Bane, I request that you bring in the rest of the 1st Infantry Legion and the 4th Heavy Infantry Legion. That's going to give us 275,000 troops. But, we would like you to ask Tyrantis II if we could get command of 5,000 of his Elite Grenadiers."

"Your requests will be fullfilled. The Legions you request will be deployed. ETA is 30 hours. And I will make the request to Tyrantis."

"This is the situation John," said MacCloud to Captain John Muliznick, "the troops are prparing for battle on shore and we have just recieved word that the army of Gramal has grown exponentially to over 400,000. We also detected an enemy sub about 24 hours ago. We let it return to its base but it is probably a preamble to attack. We need your submarines in postition and on high alert beneath the fleet.."

"Right away sir," replied Muliznick.

"Dismissed," said MacCloud and he stood up and showed the captain out.

Meanwhile on the Gramal/Weyr border...

General Leclerc was shouting so loud it was hard to believe the whole country couldn't hear him.

"What do you mean they have more than 400,000 troops!?! I thought they had only 200,000 combat ready and capable!! God damn why can't anyone get decent intelligence anymore!?! Admiral Jeffery Duran sat back in his chair at the naval headquarters in Dixon. He looked at the recon photos taken by the Spirits. He looked at Admiral Yuri with a smile. "Good job. Now. It seems MacCloud is on full alert. Get the fleets ready."

"Which ones, sir? Flag Fleet? Surface Fleet?" Yuri asked with high regards to how many there were.

"All of them. Send everyone from the Flag Fleet to the Subamrine Fleet."

Yuri stared hard in disbelief. "Sir, that's over eight fleets. At least one hundred ships a fleet. With the Flag Fleet being the largest."

"Yes. That's true." he stood up and looked at the Mako Carrier Fleet moving out. "I want you to lead the armada."

Yuri paused mouth almost hanging open. "Sir? That's a really high job. Are you sure, sir?"

"Was that a question or an order Admiral?" Duran turned around to face him.

Yuri snapped to attention,"Sir. As commanded, sir."

Yuri about-faced and walked out of Duran's office smiling.

Meanwhile........

"Your Highness. Even though that you are here on diplomatic relations believe me, you really don't want to make threats." he looked at her coldly.

"If you want to go to war, then so be it. But, according to our nation's constitution, we have to try and negotiate. What would it take for us to at least consider a cease fire?"

1000 Hours Zulu-The Wall: General Yard's Command Center

The commanding officers of all of the divisions have gathered inside a conference room. They were all talking amongst themselves when Yard walked in.

"Attention!" shouted a tank commander.

"Be seated." and they all sat at once hovering over the top of the table. "Gentlemen, our forces have mobilized. High patrols have been established. We are at Code:Red. DEFCON 2 has been enacted by Defense Minister Drab. I wanted readiness reports on my desk at 1200 Hours Zulu." he stood up. "Dismissed."

Yard walked out of the room and towards The Wall's command center. "Soon." he said to himself "Soon there will be a battle of ethical proportions."

1030 Hours Zulu-Gramal Armada: Dixon

Admiral Yuri sat at the CON of his submarine. Around him and behind him there were rapid movements as the ship prepared to set for the border. Outside was a different subject.

The Mako Carrier Fleet was above them, the Tiger Submarine Fleet was behind them, and all around the rest of the armada was coming from Island City, Dixon, and Huron. The reserve ships had been placed into the armada as well. Above the Armada the jets from the carriers were running battle drills and doing widespan patrols of the area. A massive sea area was covered by the Armada. Admiral Duran was proud to watch it proceed by the harbor. A feeling of pride spread through his body.

Finally after about 1 minute of searching he found the captain in all the hustle and bustle he was conferring with the sonar/radat operator. the admiral strode over to them to find out the situation.

"Whats the situation captain?" yelled the Admiral over the noise.

"I think we should step out of here so we don't have to shout," the captain yelled back.

They made their way out of the bridge and onto the deck outside.

"So what's the situation captain?" the admiral asked again.

"Well sir it seems that Gramal has amassed their entire navy and it is on its way as we speak."

"How many ships?" asked the admiral.

"As of now sir the count is over 100." the captain replied.

"Over 100 ships!" said the admiral incredulously. "How could they get them together so fast?"

"Your guess is as good as mine sir."

"How long would the Akita-Ryuvius fleet and ourselves hold if they were to attack?"

"Well we both have better ships than they do but 100 vs 35 isn't good odds. I'd say at most 1-2 days."

"What about the EMP that San Texario has. They could use it to slow down the fleet enough for us to bring in more ships. They could be hear in 2 weeks minimum."

"Well that just might work sir, if all their systems are knocked out then we should ahve enough time to get another two or three fleets in hear to even the odds while they make repairs."

"Very well send out the message to home for them to dispatch another 5 Nexus Class Carriers, 10 Monarch Class Battleships, 10 Province Class Cruisers, 10 Region Class Battlecruisers, 30 County Class AA Destroyers, 20 City Class Destroyers, and onther 15 Hammerhead subs. They are to have all people on shifts rest up for 48 hours, and they will take up their own shifts," he said to the captain. An aid rushed over, "You, I want you to get the 1st 2nd and 3rd construction parties to start building more temporary defenses. Admiral Yuri sat at the CON of his sub. He watched through a stellite uplink as the Beta Aurigae Fleet moved into positiion to counter their own movements. He rubbed his head and looked at the incoming message on the board.

'BETA AURIGAE VII FLEET MOVING INTO POSITION FOR POSSIBLE COUNTER ATTACK. SATELLITE SHOWS REINFORCEMENTS COMING FROM BETA AURIGAE VII HOMELAND.'

He rubbed his head again as he watched his fleet moving onward.

He stod up and finally spoke,"Chief, tell the fleet to stop . All stop. We're at our border.."

"Aye, sir." sounded the chief of the watch.

The message was relayed through the fleet network. Pretty soon, it was totally stopped. "Maybe we should wait for a bit before entering."

Meanwhile................

"Our blockade? Your Highness. Even if we lifted our blockade it would make absolutely no difference as to what would happen. IF the blockade is lifted, your allies go home, and you lower the amount of High Guard on your defenses, then all we would do is wait until they left and then invade you. But, we don't do things like that. If you can understand that we would like to establish a embassy, get exclusive trade rights to some of your economy, and also allow us to establish a naval and army base on your coast just inside your borders as an interest in your affairs, then we would consider standing down, and going home. Otherwise, the blockade will remain, our status would be no different, and your defenses would still be up."

OOC: Wow, Alicia's assesment was actually right . . . score for the newbie king . . . ;;^^
-----------
"Mr. President, there appears to be one thing you don't understand. The Contract under which my government operates doesn't allow me to grant anyone trade or military rights. Not me, not the High Council, no one in Weyr has the power to do so. You've got the ability to sell and buy whatever you want within our borders; that's all anyone's got," Alicia explained patiently. This was like talking to some upstart leader of one of the Shadowside's many criminal gangs.

"Ser, if I may," Neverille interrupted. "We –can- let them build a military base, but it will have to be at a site of our choosing. Any soldiers stationed there will have to comply with The Contract -- they don't murder, don't steal, and don't maliciously manipulate."

"Right," Alicia responded. It –was- a good idea. They could have Gramal build a base in the southeastern district, and then wait while the fanatical Krimuk tore them to shreds.

"You can have your military within our borders, but there is no way you will get anything exclusive relating to trade. And the blockade goes in either case. There is only so much our government can do, Mr. President." Alicia stated.

“0.2, 3.141, -2,” the navigator looked at her console.
“This is WPS-6, intercepting shark, coordinates . . . “ the com-tech sent. They were perhaps a mile off Weyr’s southern shore, to the southeast of the large port city of Southport.
“Acknowledged, helos in the air,” Southport Command sent back.
“Moving in,” Storm entered the commands. The agile patrol boat continued building up speed, closing in on the larger vessel. It looked like another smuggler ship. Nothing else approached Southport from this direction – it was too dangerous compared to regular shipping lanes. Besides, with the blockade, the only ships out of harbor were fishing boats.
“0.14, 3, +1” the navigator read off.
“All hands for intercept,” Storm’s voice sounded through the ship. He switched to external speakers. “This is Weyr Coast Patrol, cut your engines and prepare to be boarded.” They were perhaps a hundred meters off.
“0.08, 3.141, 0,” They’ve stopped,” navigator Ross stated.
“Boarding crew ready,” Commander Nash sent over the com.

The WPS-6 slowly approached the larger ship. On top of the patrol boat, heavy ‘casters were leveled on the men on deck. A pair of Coast Patrol helos, their quad rotary blades chopping the air, could be heard approaching from the northwest.

“Do those look like sharks?” Storm asked.
“Too calm,” Nash sent back. His men were ready, ‘casters loaded. A line was tossed from the opposing ship, and quickly tied off. “Careful,” he said to his men over their helm coms. Their gear was like the gear used by riot police, with full body armor and face shields – you never knew what you’d come across.

He looked at her. She was near amazement at how he knew.

"You see, Alicia. I have many friends. Not to mention some being in your government. As far as my military's safety goes, I want your full cooperation if anything should go sour."

0900-Southern Weyrian Swamplands: 101st Range Squad
Mission: Reconnaissance

Deep within Weyr territory, there is a large flat of swamplands. Everything is quiet and frogs, crickets, and the soft slushing of water against the banks is heard.

By cover of deep camoflauge, Lt. Mike Jefferys covert ranger squad moves through the swamp towards the outlying area. His team's mission is to be secret, silent, and they are not to be seen. Moving quietly through the water, making their way to the shore, the squad of eight men move quietly. Not making a noise. No identification is on their persons. So that way, if captured, they could not be linked to their nation. Slowly as they step onto the shore they move towards the outlying grassy fields just south of the Coalition Command Center.

Their second mission is to assasinate one of the key leaders in the effort. Hopefully, they will be successful.

OOC: Unsure if I can use the EMP. The range is small to avoid damage. But, the satellites haven't been used for years...since the Zarbia incedent...and I think Grams said no...

IC: Wright stood over the map as an aid rushed in, "General Wright sir, we have uptdated satellites from the Shadow Satellite. Close up reports see that on IR we have heat sources in this swamp south of our Command Center. We are pretty sure it's just Gator hunters. Just to be sure I'd suggest stepping up security here...fixing the security doors and such...these guys just appeared a few hours ago, looks suspicious. But, we don't have any actual vision, as right now the Shadow is in high orbit, what with the Zarbia conflict needing a lot of space."

"Very well," said Gen. Wright, "I want the security doors set up. I want the security tight. We don't want another incedent like Zarbia when they can just get through it. I want full on. Retinal, Thumbprint, Heatsource, ID card and passcode."

"And sir, reports say that the Gramali navy has stopped. At their current position, we probably couldn't get any shots on them without losing any of our own."

"Okay. Make that order. and add to patrol units. I want you to designate defenders for patrol, I want teams of 10 on patrol, and I want them to have full equipment. We need to monitor here tightly"

"Yes sir!"

Update: Defenses about halfway done. 10,000 elite grenadiers have arrived, on loan from Tyrantis.

Eldar looked above the tall grass bordering the edge of the swamp. The eight enemy men were cautiously advancing towards the command center of the outlander army. He was sure they did not mean well. He made the call of a native bird, imitating it so closely that only a native expert could have told the difference. Four of his men silently advanced, hardly disturbing the tall yellow grass. They were the Krimuk, followers of the god Krim, and masters of the southern regions of Weyr. They rarely came this far east, but times were changing. Many strangers had come – strangers with strange weapons.

Get the Elder. Tell him of this event, Eldar’s fingers danced, making words. Khalim, the runner, nodded. His eyes glazed over.
Follow me, pick one, Eldar signed to the rest.
Quietly yet quickly they moved through the tall yellow grass, backs bent so that no part of any man showed above the grass, advancing on the eight soldiers. Two of Eldar’s men branched off, going sideways in a flanking maneuver. They got to perhaps two dozen meters, halted.
“j’Alya Kurim’nai!” Eldar leapt to his feet, his fingers moving in the familiar snapping motion. Flames spiraled towards the eight soldiers; the Krimuk were already moving, lost amidst the grass. [it’s like getting attacked with four powerful flamethrowers]

Nash placed both hands on the wide metal block built into the side of the ship. The patrol boat had stopped alongside the smuggler craft. Heavy ‘casters on the patrol craft swept the smuggler’s deck, ready to fire upon provocation. Two helos circled above, waiting to provide any assistance.

Nash focused. Static crackled about the block; it turned into a ramp, projecting up and towards the smuggler like a staircase.
“Coast Patrol, hands up,” Nash shouted, stepping onto the other craft’s deck. His squad of ten followed, weapons lowered. “Erin, Durin, Mike, j’Ren, check below,” he commanded over the helm com. “Where’s the captain?” Nash shouted the question at the crew.

OOC: Guess I should explain what the 'net is . . . within Weyr's territory, and a few miles around it, the 'net acts as a power/communications grid. Since it gets exponentially weaker as distance from Weyr increases, it only serves as a wireless broadband in bordering countries, and not even that after the first hundred miles away from the border.

Since everything in Weyr now operates on the 'net, and since there is no way to block access to the 'net or truly encrypt data, anything sent over it can be accessed by anyone else with a 'net crystal -- which is why this entire conversation is being watched by several million people ^^.

Delta Force sniper Sgt. Fret Yuyama and his Spotter Sgt. F.C. Thomas Ukari chuckled silently as they watched the Krimuk wreak havoc on the mysterious hunters in the swamps through high-powered binoculars. They were over two miles away, too far to be seen or heard.
Their laughing stopped abruptly as they noticed one of the "hunters" had split from the main of them. They stragler pumped off three or four rounds in the general direction of one of the Krimuk.
Yuyama frowned.

"Should I take him out?" He said in a unessescarily hushed tone.

"If ya got the shot, I'd say go ahead and do it.", replied the spotter.

Yuyama squinted through his M-83 sniper rifle scope and switching it to heat-sensory mode. He zoomed it 50x, close enough to watch every detail of movement from the so-called "hunters". He squeezed his finger, and ticked out a shot, the recoil making Yuyama thriw his shoulder back and shake his hand vigorously. The 50 caliber round arked through the darkness like a flare. It was a tracer round, coated with nitrogen and hydrogen to give it the flare like appearance. The huge round tore off the upper part of the "hunter's" torso, along with his head and some of his shoulders. The dismembered body dropped to its knees, it's weapon firing still in all directions as it flailed the right arm about. By the time the clip was spent, the body had already hit the ground, more of a bog, and the battle continued, seeming to ignore the random mutilation of the "hunter".
Yuyama called through the radio to send in back-up, such as helicopters and hummvees. Perhaps a prisoner could be taken for interrorgation. The support would arrive in perhaps 15 minutes at most.

OOC: I agree that EMP's can be used. But the thing is that they cannot be launched from satelites in modern-tech. EMP's only occur during power generator-like explosions and nuclear explosions. Being those weapons are not being used at this time I suggest a hold on them. For the time being of course.

"Shit!" shouted tha captain of the ranger squad. "Radio Alpha group. Tell them to give us a run by."

High above the wall three "Little Bird" Helicopters followed the radioed in signal. They fired rapidly at the enemy's positon and ran by them with a stream of gunfire. They were all dead in an instant. The captain of the team asked for retrieval. Soon a Blackhawk hovered quietly above the team and lowered a rope. The team grabbed hold and were lifted up. Soon afterwards the helo took off towards Gramal territory. They left a present for any who tried to touch the body of the fallen soldier. It was a grenade bomb. Once the trigger was set, only the one who set it could disarm it. If the body was touched it would explode. Killing all those around it.

Captain Jefferys looked down silently at the carnage. Hopefully they haven't been discovered.

The Wall intercepted the transmission sent to the Bolt's and sent out 12 F-22's to intercept them from destroying the helos. The planes took flanking maneuvers to intercept the planes.

Once they were over Weyr territory they headed right for them. One F-22 headed right at them and veered off right before it hit on of them. The battle ensued. The F-22's engaged the Bolts and used their armament of AMRAM missles to destroy them all. The flew about doing corkscrews and barrel rolls to avoid the enemy's fire. The helos high tailed it to The Wall and Jefferys looked back as a Bolt fell into the swamp below.

Once at the base inside Gramal territory the helos touched down onto the tar mat. Jefferys stepped out and paced to thte command bunker. He needed to report what ahd happened.

"Echo-9 coming about. You got a bogey on your six." said Commander Huron. He was in charge of this detail. He flew right at the rear of the Bolt and fired his 20 mm guns at the tail end. The Bolt spiraled out of control as the two planes flew by it.

"That's the last of them. Head back to base. Put the afterburners into it! We need to get out of here before they can send in more." shouted Huron through the radio.

The squadron returned to Gramal airspace with afterburners at the full. Once inside they held off on them and made their way to Grant Airbase.

Meanwhile...............

President Gramal sat back in his chair and looked at Alicia, the High King of Weyr, which happened to be a woman. He stared hard at the two diplomats from Weyr. He grew tired of this.

"Alright. I'll lift the blockade. But what if the military deployment at the base wasn't permanent? What if we left it there for four years.? Woudl that be acceptable? If not then I will have to make a decision with Minister Drab on what to do."

"I can fly in about 400 A-10 warthogs, but not the ones you would expect. "The scales have tipped in our direction," said the admiral to himself," we now have the ability to hold our own against the Gramal armada even though we are outnumbered by about 200. It may even be possible to snatch victory if Gramal was to attack."

She has granted permission for our military to complete and build a Naval and Army base on your land. Before I ask what the location will be then I have one request: No conflict. I want this area and three miles around it to be under Gramal jurisdiction. No excuses, no compromises, no explanations. If this is not good enough then I will not sign the cease-fire. You know what will happen eventually if we do not sign. Defense Minister Drab, General Alexander Yard, and Admiral Mike Duran will oversee the construction and defense of the area. For secutiry reasons I ask that my government be allowed to build a smaller version of The Wall around the base."He stood up and walked to the window behind him,"You may think that we are an aggressive nation, but we aren't. We're a nation of peace, understanding, and democracy. The Armed Republic of Gramal is a strong, economically powerful nation that our citizens are proud of." He turned to face Alicia and the hologram of the High Council,"But we are a nation of military might. We have learned alot about warfare. No matter what field, sky, or ocean we are on. I am asking you , no, no, I am telling you. Authorize this and allow peace to reign. Let's not squabble over petty differences. Let us instead build a solid friendship of peace and prosperity. Let us become a powerful force to be driven against all that threaten democracy and peace. We can either create this dream of a united force or we can smash it." He looked at Alicia and stared at her,"Please. After all we have been through. After all of the skirmishes and threats and finger pointing. Let's build this dream. Let's make this a reality. Instead of us speaking with each other on matters through a network of communication, let us meet with each other, shake hands and say, 'This is the day we meet in friendship. For all mankind.' Let us build upon the friendship promised and let us work together to build our future! Let us stop this conflict of differences and build together a sense of understanding." He turned to the hologram and looked at each and every one there,"Each and everyone of you will be able to tell you grandchildren, your great-grandchildren, or sons and daughters that you were there when two nations put their differences aside and grapsed each others hands in brotherhood and friendship. That you were there when the leaders of two neighboring nations set aside their diferences and talked about unification in peace! The choice is yours. We could either create this wonderful, beautiful, inspiring future, or we could smash it and destroy each other and our dreams of peace. I say to you, and I say to all of you. Let us concentrate on what we do today so that we can accomplish what we need for our tomorrow."

With this President Victor Gramal sat down in his chair and faced Alicia. He breathed heavily, poured a glass of water, and drank it smoothly.

"The decision, is yours."

OOC: I feel sorry for the bright future . . . but I won't say more right now.
-----------------------

Rehearsing it for how long? . . . Gran can use the time to get the Guard properly equipped, at least. Alicia figured quickly. The high Guard's equipment was decades out of date by Weyrean standards. The cash was more than enough, after a decade of careful planning and investment. All that was needed was time.
"I'll accept it; Counselors?" Alicia asked. It wouldn't last, she just knew it. Something like this offer was too good to be true.

"Act 1602: Gramal v High Council: Permission to construct Naval and Army base and surrender all jurisdiction around the said base for three miles along the X and Y axes from the perimeter of the said base for the proceeding four years. Pending agreement, all hostilities between Gramal and Weyr shall cease. Motion for debate." High Counselor Josiah A. Smythe spoke in the projection. The only job of the High Counselor was to announce motions. Other than that, he was just like the rest of the several hundred elected counselors from around the kingdom.

"How exactly can we 'surrender' our jurisdiction over a piece of land within the kingdom?" one of the twenty-four counselors from Southport asked.

"The point is moot -- we'll sell the land, and Gramal can then form its own council and decide on whatever it wants," Alicia stated to the projection. There were some murmurs.

When there was complete silence again, the High Counselor stood once more. "Any questions?" he asked. There were none. "Motion 1602 up for vote," he stated. After a few moments, two numbers appeared on the projection in the office of the president of Gramal. The motion had passed.

Neverille shut off the projection, and the crystal faded to a translucent white -- disconnected from the 'net.

"You've got the permission to build a base," Alicia stated unnecessarily. "You have full control of the base and the three miles around it in -all- directions. No restrictions on imports, exports, or construction anywhere in the kingdom, so that won't be causing problems unless you place something three miles above or below sea-level. Since the land is still technically Weyrean property, you also have the right to make any legislation, laws, or motions you want on your base through a council of no less than five persons. How you get those five is your choice. Basically, it's your land for the next four years and you can do whatever the hell you want," she paused to take a breath.

Four Mark-II tanks belonging to Integrated Auto's Sector Defense sped down the abandoned street that ran along Manufactory 46 of Integrated Auto, located in the Sahdowside of Wye.

"Shields up!" Vash Relis commanded from the leading tank as then swept around the corner, seeing flashes of light. The sound of explosions filtered through exterior audio. Pale, translucent azure spheres enveloped each of the tanks.

Vash zoomed in with the crystal's display. In the cramped cabin there was only enough space for the driver, gunner, and tech. As the squad's commander, Vash was replacing the tech. On his small projection he could see ten Abrams taking out the last of the remotely-controlled auto turrets. He zoomed back out. The enemy hadn't noticed them, he noted, not yet. He wanted to know which clan bought the tanks, and from whom, but that could be dealt with later.

"Fire in five," Vash commanded. The gunner, Michael Bloom, slammed the light cylinder of the DIA-4C cell [D-Cell] into the main gun. "Three, two, one," Vash finished counting off.

Trrrrrrrrrrrrrrreee four separate sun-gold beams slammed into four of the ten tanks, held for nearly two seconds. The turrets on the enemy Abrams began turning. Hatches opened on the targeted four, too late. The four tanks exploded. Multiple blasts echoued as dozens of shells blew one after another.

The Abrams responded; yet the pale azure shields were up once more. Five shells harmlessly exploded on their surfaces. "Fire," Vash commanded, knowing that each of his MArk-II's already had a fresh D-Cell loaded.

Trrrrrrrrrrrrrrreee once more, sun gold beams lanced towards the remaining tanks. Vash had the enemy loading times marked from years of observation. His tanks would all have their shields back up by the time the enemy response would come. There were two known ways of blasting through the Mark-II's shields -- by placing the equivalent of four HE shells simultaneously against the shield, or by firing whet the shields were down, there by ripping through the tank's three-inch armor.

It has been agreed between myself and the leaders of Weyr that a San Texarian base shall be built in Weyr territory. The base will consist of the current command center, the airfield near it, which will be made better, and the 40 Mi. Sq. space around it. The base will be fortified by a thick wall, with anti-air turrets, as well as the autoguns that are used on the San Texarian Wall. There will be an undisclosed number of ground troops (OOC: As I forgot how much I planned) and 150 Spear Fighters and 200 Bolt Helicopters and 200 Raider Transport Gelicopters. The airspace will be opened for the use of transport in and out of the base.

OOC: Alright, im making a new forum post for the treaty. San Texario, I hope you have beeb payign attention. Because if you havn't then you would know that Weyr and I are signing a peace treaty and cease fire. This means you have no more rights to any of Weyr's land because of the pre-war skirmishes and conflicts being over now. Understand? It's over.
