Alien Covenant Begins Cleansing

23-04-2004, 02:14
OOC: before you read below it is essential that you know that my nation is run by an Ethnic group that is based on the HALO Covenant Elites.

IC The Alien Covenant officially announced today, that the great cleansing time has come.
All ethnic residents and visitors are being detained, and their belongings are being confiscated.
The obviously surperior Covenant Elite have become tired of Foreigners mixing themselves with the Normal population.
any foreigners that decid to enter the country after the clensing is complete, will be terminated on sight.
we deeply apologize if this upsets anyone in the international community, but we find that the teachings of the great ones are far more important than your opinions.

In a great square, a Gold armored Elite raises an energy sword, and brings it down swiftly, severing the head of a human. The crowd goes wild with support.

The Ferengi Empire deplores the Covenant's ethnic cleansing. It has withdrawn all of its own citizens from the Covenant's borders to save them a horrible fate. Though we have no right to police your own people, we warn you that should you continue this cleansing beyond your borders, we will be forced to react. That is all.

We would like to reply with the fact that we have never had any intention of expanding this policy beyond ur borders, although that is how we feel it should be.

We request that you stop making implications against Covenant sovereignity, and let us continue with the cleansing process.

We praise you purifying your nation and if you would like any help please contact us. On the real reason I have contacted you is the plasma rifle. We would like to purchase the plans for it if you have them. For torture we can provide you with warpstone, which is deadly to organic things. Almost always causes mutations which kill the exposed in an amount of a few minutes, but those last minutes are more painful than hours of torture.

A rather angry looking bald man steps up to the camera, rubbing his eyes.

"If what I hear is true, than something big is going down wherever yuor country is. And if it's true, Samtonia will speak. I'm going back to bed now. My government will reply in the morning."

For the few people in Samtonia who caught the broadcast, it left them utterly confused. However, for the goverment of the Alien Covenant, it left them informed.
23-04-2004, 04:33
As The second day of the cleansing approaches, the police forces of the Covenant will be moving outwards from the big cities, and into the villages and farms owned by other races, and cleansing them. the farm land will then be taken under government control, and harvestors will be hired.

Now comes the most dangerous part of the cleansing. We now face to resistance of the troublesome and tunnel-visioned elves.
The elven resistance will eventually be crushed, be they fight with bows, not real weapons. they will meet their fate when they meet the Plasma Rifle, and the Banshee.

we will then Cleanse the rest of the foreign Elves, ad other (Fantasy) races from the undeveloped areas of the Covenant territories.

Official Response from Crownguard:

Why the devil would anyone work with religious wackos such as these anyways? Do they HAVE anything of value worthwhile to the nation of Crownguard or anyone else? Let them massacre their own populace, such are the idiocies of zealotry. If the Covenant wish to respond to the nation of Crownguard over these intentional and provoking insults, we would eagerly see them upon the battlefield. Otherwise, we feel this matter is worthless to the international community.

Chancellor George Thomas IV stood at a podium in the Federated Stellar capital of Emergence.

"Citizens of Wormia... it is difficult time we live in, and a difficult world. Not two hours ago, you all turned on your hyperspace broadcast reciever sets and we set to gaze upon a human being decapitated.

Too often, we are forced to look at the good of Wormia as not intervening in situations such as these. We stand here, the products of generations of social, technological and political advancement. We must be aware that such an attack upon other races must be stopped as Hitler was stopped in WWII.

You might be asking whether or not Wormia intends to wage war and war crimes against the Alien Covenant. You can be rest assured that the answer to this, by myself, the Parliament, and most importantly YOU, have all voted in favor of intervention."

Are we to take Wormia's intervention as a direct challenge to covenant Sovreignity? You will be at fault for starting an armed conflict between The Covenant and Wromia. You would not want and Unprovoked attack on your record.
If you plan to try and intervene, I'm afraid that you would be wasting your time. 60% of all Foreigners have already been eliminated. We have just to uproot the stubborn elves and Covenant territories will be clean once again.

The mark of cowardice. I do not think the international community will support a nation which is conducting xenocide. Therefore, I can insult your backward and fundamentalist culture with impunity. I'm tempted to reply that Wormia's intervention is as a direct attack on Covenant existence. However, Wormia considers itself a "civilized" nation, no doubt a concept your primitive polytheistic people have far yet to go before they understand it.

If 60% of the intended victims have already made the ultimate sacrifice, then Wormia's terms will have changed. If this indeed is intended to be true, then Wormia will accept nothing less than complete, unconditional surrender or destruction of ALL military force.

Furthermore, war crimes can hardly be considered as "Unprovoked." As for a "formal" declaration of war, one has already been made, to your convenience. Wormia will not be liable for any civilian casualties on the Covenant side, as they would have been a direct result of your arrogance and blatant disregard for life.

Enjoy your day. You will have few left to enjoy.

The Principality of Skeelzania is shocked and disgusted by the acts of the Alien Covenant. The mere thought of such sub-human beings passing judgement on our fellow man is in of itself disturbing. However, we will offer a solution to this problem that is both cheap and effective.

We propose that all humans within Covenant territory, instead of being beheaded, be extradited to Skeelzania, where accomodations can be made for them. Skeelzanian ships will transport the refugees from the Covenant; they would only have to tell us where to pick up the humans. If any refugee desired to leave Skeelzania after the evacuation, we will comply with their request. For those who stay, a complimentary 180,000 Baskzs will be given to them to assist in the settling process.

Skeelzania hopes that the Covenant will be able to sort this out and accept this proposal in their sub-human minds and thus advert their own destruction at the hands of outside forces.

"Lord, the Foreigners plan to attack" Vuka stated loudly, while bowing to the consul minister of the grand council. The Council was made up of 300 members, each member representing a different region in the Covenant territories, as well as ministers of, Police forces, Military, Foreign affairs, internal affairs, trade, transportation, and agriculture and livestock. The Council met on a periodical basis, and when more than half agreed to a special session. This was a special session.

The rest of the council nodded, not showing much surprise at the foreingers.

"My friends, it seems that the foreigners wish to challenge our sovreignity, I request that the council immediately take into effect the directions set down in the Fourth code in the book of law"

invisible floating screens appeared in front of every minister, and the ministers read the code, even though most of them had memorized the entire book of law.

"We must show these outsiders what Covenant might truly is"

OOC: every Elite in the covenant is expected to serve in the military for at least five years before he is considered a citizen. We currently have roughly 50 million Covenant Elites in service in all the branches of the Covenant military, as well as the Many Grubts, Jackals and hunters in the Military.

IC:

Outside the great capital city, the marble walls were lined with recruitment stalls.
Male Elites walked into supply bunkers, and came out with armor, energy sheilding and weapons. Others signed up as Banshee and fighter pilots, to supplement the already huge airforces. Drill sergant organized their men into units and moved them to the military bases outside of the city areas.

Commander Kapok Vukanamen gazed down from his floating command weapons platform.

2. Why did you let the foreigners in in the first place?

Suddenly, a ruddy, larger man shoves him out of the way, forcing his way onto the podium. "Don't listen to this pansy ass fool of a foreign minister!" he shouts. "We can kick the asses of those idiotic non-human fools from here to last thursday! Samtonia's armed forces are authorized by both me, General Frank Panzini, and the President of Samtonia to be placed on red alert. This means that a lightbulb has to be changed. But no matter! WE shall prevail! WE shall destroy them! And we shall save humanity from the evil that is the Covenant!"

Spitting out these last few words, he stalks from the podium. The screen fades to black.

Telegrams requesting an alliance are sent out to all enemies of the Covenant. They are delivered by the best Samtonia has to offer, the trained monkey bike squadrons.

IC:

The last of the new recruits made their ways through the supply depots, and out onto the troop transports placing Covenant soldiers at their assigned outposts and positions.

Commander Kapok Vukanamen gazed at the night sky. The Covenant homplanet was completely unblemished by pollution, since none of the Covenant facilities produced it. kapok sighed deeply as he pictured the incoming fleet in his mind. This could very well be his last war. Ever since the overthrow of the prophets, the Grand council hand become increasingly testing of their neighbors patience, and now they had gone too far. Trying to wipe out all but the Covenant on their planet was a suicide mission in itself. He did not agree with the elders, neither did most of the population, but he would follow their commands to the end. He had sworn to the Great ones to uphold the truths they had set down, billions of uears ago, and obey every whim of the council, but he would do so with a heavy heart. All he could look forward to was a place among the great Masters Commanders of Old.

"Genocide, Tch" He said to himself

Whatever doubt he held for his race however, was soon wiped from his mind as a young Red-Armored pilot entered and gave a deep bow.

"Master Commander, We have received the first signs of the enemy fleet in the solar system, they will be here by dawn" he said, without looking up.

"Initialize the planetary defense weapons" He said quietly

The pilot put the word through

*****

A lone Elite with Cold weather gear sat inside a drafty room in one of the Covenant's Anti-orbital plasma Cannons. The Siren Blared as his partner came in throught the door of the building.

"Command says there are multiple ships approaching the planet. They are telling all of the Anti Orbital Cannons to power up, and get ready in case we have to fight" The Elite said in the Doorway.

Wind blew through the door sending flakes of snow inside.

"Powering up" The Gunner said coldly

A large generator underneath the building began to go into action, as a hatch opened on the planet's surface. A large gun Barrel rose upwards from the hatch and positioned itself at the estimated entrance vector of the enemy fleet. The hatch was only 85 feet long, by 85 feet wide, but there were 100 of them, scattered over the planet, and that was enough to repel a fleet, and stall a heavy invasion.

West Scotland, meanwhile, has begun a massive mobilization of forces, deploying and redeploying thousands of forces across the nation...in fact, a few hundred thousand ground forces.

CMP-240 (Formerly known as the AC-240) cruise missile platforms are armed and on highest alert, ready to engage hundreds of targets in a moment's notice.

The most massive fleet deployment in West Scotland's history is now underway. Ten fleets are standing by to receive thousands of soldiers for deployment overseas, and aircraft stand by to established friendly airbases to send our troops and supplies.

We seek for a trusted ally(ies) in close proximity to the nation in question for a base of operations to deploy ninety to a hundred thirty thousand soldiers and more aircraft.

In this, the Fleet is the entire nation, a massive group of tens of thousands of ships, traveling planet to planet in their search for a homeworld; taking what is needed to maintain the Fleet, upgrade it, and move on.)

*The advance scouts had already entered the system, the fleet itself following several hours behind. They had had the prize of initiative, having no home planet to have to respond from. Indeed, the entire Fleet itself WAS Crownguard, at least until they found Solaris. The warning klaxons sounded on the 2 seater fighters, who noted the energy flux through the planet, at least in some cases. Weapons of that magnitude werent too hard to hide. Doing a quick flyby spinward of the planet, they avoided msot major patrols before making the jump to hyperspace. The holographic pictures were taken, and the Fleet would be ready.

*Crownguardian Fleet, CFS Imdomitable*

"Captain-General Meade, we have the enemy system charted out, for the most part." replied an ensign nervously, seeming to stutter even these. To serve on the flagship was no small honor, and could be lost just as quickly.

"Most part?" Meade said softly, raising a brow in his characteristic soft voice. He never yelled, he never needed to. Such was the power of the Tercero's titular heir title, the Captain-General.

"Yes sir, the scouts had to make a quick fly-by before the patrols and emplacements noticed them."

"Very well, ready the other Fleet ships and repeat this through the Fleet."

The comm switch channel is flipped on to corresponding military vessels*

"The Freighters and Transports will obviously hang back, as will Dagger, Dragon, Falcon, and Vortex Squadrons. The Fleet Defense is of course to remain on stand-by. All remaining squadrons are to prepare for the Jump. I want the plasma and mass driver enbankments to launch a full spread upon arrival. Let see if we can knock them out before they even know we are here. make sure not to be hesitant to destroy the target, no matter locations. If the report is true, no non-Covenant civilians should be around the guns. All marines are to prepare for embarking planetside and ship-to-ship should it be necessary. Indomitable will lead the assault.

Good luck to all. Your ships and names will be carved into the Core Matrix."

*The various acknowledgements ran through the fleet. There would be no honor or quarter on either side he felt, and he felt he was right. Others would probably say otherwise but he knew the truth. This was a war of extermination for both sides.*

IC:A vast horde unseen before in skaven blight has assembled. The total number is 2,376,000 a vast majority is slaves and clanras.
1,750,000 slaves equipped with basically milita weapons and a few rusted AK-47s
900,000 clanrats(basic infantry) armed with AK-103s all with warpstone rounds
86,000 stormvermin(elite infantry, not really but slightly better than the first 2) armed with heavily modified G-11s that fire warpstone rounds wich makes up for the age, grenades filled with warpstone gas(like mustard gas, but stronger)
The military is going into debt from purchasing the arms and "tunneling APCs" which were to be loaded on to merchant vessels and launshed like parsites.
A grey seer aproaches a raised platform before the assembled army "The Horned Rat has decreed we kill-kill these infidels, all who die shall be blessed and may join the Horned Rat in eternity, go-go now children of chaos"
And with that religous sermon concluded the sounds of whips were heard as the slaves were packed into the machines, clanrats were packed like sardins in a can also. While the stormvermin got in nice cushioned APCs. One unit of 20 inparticular are weraing gold armor instead of the regular stormvermin "armor", this unit was the leading chieftains unit, the death squad.
OOC:Before denouncing tunneling as godmoding, think of it this way, while others were taking into aircraft and the general sky, the skaven stuck under ground. Still the warpstone is unstable so probably a 1/5 won't even reach combat. The space ships were donated from my space faring allies in The Land of Chill. My forces haven't gone yet, there still embarking/arriving/gathering supplies before leaving.

**The Fleet had nearly arrived, the first wave coming into systema nd immediately powering up, a multitude of targets blaring up on HUD screens. They were well adapted to orbital assault, always softening the target up first. The first ships started to power up the weapons banks, the target slike christmas lights as a veritable barrage of fire rained in from far out in the system. Slugs at near the speed of light, followed by plasma blasts snaked towards the planet, which of course couldnt dodge the fire. Enough fire would perhaps damage the ecosystem and level full cities, but that couldnt be helped could it? Te principle was the same as artillery always was. Fire from far away and lay such a punishing rain of death upon the enemy that would EVENTUALLY hit the target, even if it massacred everything else in the way.....

Long range artillery indeed. Space without its drag or inertia was wonderful.

"Fire now" Kapok said as his viewscreen showed the gun turrets on the enemy ships begin to light up.
His first plan would now have to go on as it did in the text book, which was for the turrets to duke it out with the ships until the ships were dead, or the turrets were hit, or stormed by enemey infantry.

**As the vanguard duked it out with the turrets planetside, they of course began evasive maneuvers, easy to do with the distances involved. Each ship followed the plan outlayed for a textbook assault, moving in a full configuration firing at different vectors towards the planet. Each turret planetside that fired made anotehr target for the AI computers to lock on and concentrate at, thousands upon thousands of guns peppering the area of the turrets. The shields held...for now...but the purpose was served. The turrets would be busy and much would be destroyed. Then again, the ships were made to take a beating, and it would go to show how strong the hulls and shielding actually were.

**As this was going on, the other half of the fleet emerged from hyperspace, on the opposite side of the planet. As each ship tunneled out of hyperspace, they launched a wave of fighters, turret fire, and smart bombs to begin strafing the planet, safe from the barrage of the other half of the fleet which lay on the other side of the planet. All went as planned.

OOC: Hey...I hope you don't mind if I join the fray, though at the beginning I will only observe the first few battles. Think of it as "sizing up" possible threats.

Unbeknownst to the various ships readying themselves for an impending battle, a wormhole opened up on the hidden side of the Covenant moon. From it, the RSF Javelin measuring about 15 kilometers from bow to stern, about 7 from port to starboard exited, floating silently forward until its retro-thrusters slowed its approach. Its energy shield glowed a light-bluish hue and suddenly flickered with dancing electrical bolts as the ship activated its cloaking device.

"Commander, spectral and visual cloaks have been set."

"Commence the operation. Set the course to navpoint Charlie and send out the probes..."

"Aye, aye, Commander."

Using its field distorters, the ship moved towards its intended point of orbit around the moon without so much as a whimper. Without the use of its thrusters, it was as silent as a dead galaxy.

Meanwhile, two probes were sent out to assess the current situation. In order to avoid detection, they were disguised as meteorites about the size of a small car. They were to float past the amassing fleets, all the while sending back data to the [i]Javelin[i/]. Neither of the two were to return so that their movement seemed to be completely normal as rocks...

An area of space blurrs for half an instant, unobservible; a forewarning. An undefinible moment later, the thirteen kilometer bulk of a Kanuckistani Tunguska-Class Battleplate apears at the edge of the Covenant home system; powerful lightspeed and FTL sensors lighting her up like a christmas tree while revealing all befor her; weapons and shields charged and online, pulsing with cataclysmic energies.

Thoes who knew what she represented, what she was capible of, collectivly shuddered; those who recognised the ship's transponder, KHGV Sword of Inevitible Justice, knew that nervousness was more than justifyed; she has a planet listed amoung her confirmed kills - the former CorpSac homeworld of Lokanus 3 itself - and to a single shot from one cannon in her armament's primary tier, no less!

"Covenant butchers; that which you have done upon others is about to behall you. We are here to merely insure the inevitible, should you not choose to yeild." The transmission from Admiral David McKenzie was simply and to the point; the broadcast powerful and on all channels.

OOC:
For those unfamiliar with my fleet and military structure, basicly, I have virtually no army(relying instead on the star navy and well trained, privatly funded malitia for defence), and my star navy is condensed into a handfull of fleet killers(3 battleplates, 7 superfortresses), a handfull of kickass frigates, and the rest are basicly cheap patrol ships. Being a 2.8B nation with a frightening economy and extreamly high military spending means that I can give my fistfull of superheavies absurd firepower and intricate defences.

Of course, I also have virtually no ground force projection capasity, and a number of other liabilities to balance cost/benifit.

And then it happened. The energies involved were titanic, more than some small colonies produced in a year. The reaction they produced was of equal magnitude, a tearing of the fabric of space itself. Where once there was nothing but void, now there was light, a tremendous flash and a pulse of radiation as the laws of Newtonian physics were stood on their ear.

He was magnificent - Approximately twenty-two kilometers in length, and bristling with weapons... A veritable battle-fleet in and of himself. Worse, he had brought his brothers with him. No less than five dreadnoughts hung suspended in space, their dark hulls radiating menace the way a sun does heat. More than any declaration of intent, more than any call to arms, the very sight of the five dreadnoughts defolding reaffirmed the Kilrathi commitment to the cause. They had sent five dreadnoughts. The Empire had only ten.

And in the lead - The flagship. Commanded by Admiral Kirha nar Kolagh himself, the KIS Takh'lath was to lead this offensive as he had led every Kilrathi action since his commissioning. Eights upon eights of fighters hunkered in his bays, and more still in the bays of his brothers. In total, more than a thousand craft and their pilots, ready to make war against the Alien Covenant awaited the order to strike. That order did not come right away.

Nor did the order to close on the alien world and bring their weapons to bear. The powerful phase-transit cannons the uprated vessels carried would lay whole cities to waste with each volley, and yet they held their position at the jump point, launching only sufficient craft to protect them from retribution. Instead, they sent queries to the allied forces, requesting telemetry and intelligence on the disposition of the Covenant orbital defence facilities. Meanwhile, below decks, the capital-ship missile launchers were being readied. In their magazines, they carried a weapon to tip the scales in the Coalition's favour:

The Skipper missile.

OOC:
One and the same :D Well, the lack of ground troops would be one of the reasons why I brought dreadnoughts - You can carry a hell of a lot of, well, anything inside twenty two kilometers of warship. As to taking out their orbital defenses...

...Well, the skipper missile is a large, long-range missile equipped with a cloaking device, and a dreadnought can carry a hell of a lot of 'em. Unless someone's already begun to, my dreadnoughts could use them to blast a hole in their defenses and then finish the job with the PTCs.

Though if I remember your ship's firepower right, even one of your weapons is equivalent to the Phase Transit Cannon my dreads carry in a spinal mount. Well, that's okay. A Kilrathi warrior ought to be about an even match to a Covenant Elite on the ground, and we've got Vaktoth and Dralthi fighters for ground support.

All the while during the strategic bomboing of the COvenant Homeworld, the Assailants thought of nothing but victory. This led to cockiness.
While so far receiving great victory over the planetary guns, the assailants had forgotten one thing.

And that was the legendry prowess of the COvenant Space Fleet.Dozens of sleek Covenant Frigates, Destroyers, carriers, and Heavy Battle Cruisers appeared out of the Slipstream behind the planetary Assault force. the first shot was made by a frigate.
Plasma gushed forth from the ships guns, lancing through space, and striking the three nearest Ships, incinerating two of them, and thouroughly putting the third out of commision.
The entire Covenant Force of 200 opened fire on the exposed flanks and sides of the Assault force, wreaking havoc on the Human Ships.
One Cruiser strafed the area surrounding the main body of the force, taking out another ship, and disabling three.

The Wormian fleet emerged from hyperspace near the CoreWorld fleet. The battleships and frigates surrounded the missile destroyers, which began to immediately unleash a hail of missiles in the deadly "Flood Fire" mode at the remaining orbital defense emplacements that posed a threat to the Wormian fleet.

-----------------------

On the bridge of the lead missile destroyer, Captain Sanjay Manheim stared at the Covenant fleet to far away to target.

"Can we acquire a target?" He asked.

The weapons officer looked at him, "Absolutely not, sir."

"Allow me to rephrase. Can YOU acquire a target?" he pressed.

"I could.... send a missile in the correct direction... yes." the weapons officer replied with a coy air about him.

"Then do it."

------------------

On the bridge of the FSS Echolancer, Admiral Vaughn Sinclair stood in command of one of the most powerful ships in this sector. This led him to reminded that... there were a lot of ships in this sector...

"Contact all battleships. Tell them to boot their ARCBEAM computers, we're going to use the planet's gravity to arc our energy weapons at the Covenant fleet." He said, and added, "Order that by no means are they to use any ZPE torpedoes."

"Yessir."

--------------

Moments later, what would have been a deafening sound in an atmosphered environment, the battleships and the two superdreadnaughts began to unleash joules of energy in the form of microwaves disruptor beams and plasma shots. As expected, the beams curved ever so slightly around the planet to either hit or miss the Covenant fleet.

Meanwhile, a small armada of missiles continued to be supplied by the missile destroyers continued to rain hell on the orbital weapons defense platforms, and some began to re-enter the atmosphere of the Covenant homeworld, streaking towards what appeared on sensors to be production/infrastructure and communications bases.

Chapter One- The Awakening

“Move out!” The clomping of boots faded out again as yet another squad of men moved onto one of the massive landing craft. The dockmaster checked another tally on his sheet. That was all of them. Row after row of men had passed by, the well clad, perfectly trained elites, the average soldiers, the officers. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions had passed through this night alone. He shook his head and pulled out a pair of earmuffs. Now it was time for the vehicles.

The rumble of tanks filled the night air. Massive T-7 Gilgamesh MBT’s thundered onto the ships, the docks creaking beneath their weight. Koshi light tanks moved, their supporting MAVs alongside. And after this parade, row after row of artillery, SAM launchers, and Rocket artillery.

It took the better part of two days, but Samtonia’s Invasion force was ready. But for what? This was a question in the minds of all as the ships began to move away from the pier.

The order to fire was given, as the dreadnoughts hung in space, missile after missile rocketing away from the massive ships and streaking inbound towards the Covenant world. Dropping in and out of cloak at random to get their bearings, they appeared on sensors for only an instant before vanishing again. The weapons, and their clean fusion payload rocketed towards the planet, targeting the Covenant world's planetary defenses. Having fired off their first volley, the dreadnoughts turned on the Covenant fleet, vomiting forth more than a thousand fighters and fully three hundred and twenty bombers as they drove in towards their targets.

As the ships advanced into the fire of the Covenant ships, their shields began to spark and flash as enemy hits began to strike home. Quickly, it was becoming apparent that the only strikes that caused any damage whatsoever were from the powerful plasma torpedo launchers that the Covenant warships carried, their lighter weapons proving incapable of penetrating the Dreadnought's shields. Meanwhile, the twin lasers and heavy particle cannons of the dreadnoughts began to lash into the enemy fleet. As they closed with the Covenant ships, the Phase Transit Cannons spoke, five beams lashing out towards five of the largest targets, each capable of coring their way through a small moon.

OOC:
As a last resort, the Kilrathi Empire wouldn't have a problem with detonating the Covenant's home sun. To the Cats, the issue isn't so much one of saving lives as it is of exerting dominance. The Covenant was ordered to stop killing undesirables, they continued, and thus they must be punished. The Empire won't do such a thing out of respect for human sensibilities, but if the terrans decide to blow up the whole planet, or the whole system, even, we won't object.

Note - Post edited so that it made more sense relative to the Covenant fleet's disposition.

"Tell-tell the landers to get moving NOW"
A rather fearful looking engineer raced to the far-squeeker(skaven equivalent to walkie-talkie) "All APCs launch now quick-quick"
A few second later hundreds of the tunneling transports launched twoards planetside eager for combat. Many ships were off, one ship packed with slaves started careening wildly and crashed into a vessel carrying clanrats eliminating both in an explosion of green fire. The stormvermin's vessels were actually "safe" and anaged to not die from friendlies. All any of the skaven could do is hope that they don't die AA fire on the way down.

When it came, the tightbeam transmission to the corpsac fleet was so intense that it literily melted several of the reciving transcivers; luckily, it was short and to the point, keeping the damage to an absoloute minimum.

"Do not deploy nova weaponry." It was not a request.

Meanwhile, the KHGV Sword of Inevitible Justice deployed her own FTL inhibitor fields, but only out to 5 lightminutes(or 90 million kilometers), hoping the Covenent would attack the isolated Battleplate unaware of it's staggering combat prowess, rather than attacking the massed battle fleets.

The 1st battlefleet, under the command of Grand Admiral Kucinich, comes out of hyperspace over the covenant world. Many landing cruisers (light cruisers outfitted to carry troops and equipment) accompany the fleet.

The fleet's massive combined sensors range looks for threats.

Aboard the Nelson Mandela, the fleet's Battlecarrier.....

"Slipstream disturbance moving away from us."
"Keep an eye on it. It might be a fleet, it might be just a disturbance."
"Greetings, allied fleets! This is Admiral Kucinich's XO, Grosvenor Fahey. The admiral is currently looking over a tactical plot."
"I think I've found an LZ!"
"Anyway, we are wondering if you want to have a meeting to jointly plan the operations. Troopships are currently moving to secure an LZ."

The slipsteam sensors operators keep watch on their screens. Meanwhile, the admiral looks at a holographic projection of the Covenant world. Sensors operators keep in touch with the bridge through the reliable intercom and through second displays. The fleet quickly locates military bases and begins pummeling them with torpedos. However, the space-fighting fleet is most concerned about spotting any incoming hostile ships. The battlecruisers, destroyers, torpedo boats, and anti-torpedo frigates scan the space around the covenant world, searching for covenant ships.

Meanwhile, the cruisers begin to drop into low orbit, away from the giant mass of ships that is the 1st battlefleet, a good 1/4th of the LRRSF.

Torpedos target the weapons platforms (if there are any left) and plasma cannons prepare to meet fighter opposition.

From the bays of the landing Cruisers, a fleet of dropships swarms out, and heads towards the planet. On board, hovercraft transports prepare to meet the swampy covenant terrain.

The first dropships begin splashing down in a most unlikely LZ- in the middle of a large swamp. While it was far from most targets, it was easy to get to and had "good potential." The rainclouds which the dropships descend through remind them of home. Only in LRR it rarely gets above 45 degrees Fahrenheit, but always manages to rain.

The first dropship, a big, well armored vehicle carrier, descends into the swamp. Its massive bulk floats on the plants and water. The back door opens, and out comes 10 hovercraft transports (about the size of a patrol boat). They move quickly to secure a perimeter. Gunships gaurd overhead while more dropships descend into the swamp.

Fleet Admiral Vaughn Sinclair sat at the bridge of the FSS Echolancer, one of the most powerful warships in the sector. He kept in mind, there were a LOT of ships in the sector.

A lone communications officer walked to his chair and handed him a paper. Sinclair put his reading glasses on, and lifted his cup of coffee as he began to read the paper. The glasses gave the impression of some kind of eloquent professor to the naval commander. He set his coffee down when he realized the nature of the report.

"There are threats flying back and forth about using System Catastrophic Weaponry here." the comms gofer said.

Sinclair leaned back in his command chair. "I didn't want to have to go into an authoritative mode... but send word to Allied ships that there will be no usage of any hyperweapons above 20 megatons, and then only on military targets. We can't make this an oxymoronic war." He said, and added, We're here to stop genocide... not commit it.

"Yessir. Consider it sent." the communications ensign said, and went off to do his business.

Just as he began to lift his vessel of coffee and take a possible sip, another 'gofer' marched his way. Sinclair held the cup at a stable altitude above the ship's deck. "Yes?" He asked.

"Sir, it appears the Covenant fleet has gone into slipstream. Also... our preliminary sensor data indicates one city on the surface of the planet, which is almost totally water."

"Very astute." Sinclair said, pointing out the glossy blue of the planet on his viewscreen.

"What," the officer began, "About the Covenant? Their fleet?"

"I begin to doubt that they will be gone for long. Tell the fleet to head to one of the Elven colonies, prepare for immediate surface deployment and evacuation."

**The ships rocked under the blows of the Covenant fleet, waves of Crownguardian destroyers and frigates still incoming, a seemingly unending deluge. Fire erupted on all sides onto the planet emplacements, waves of Longsword and Corsair fighters swarming the enemy fleet till they departed. The losses had been acceptable so far, but for how long? As the first target anf fleet in system, they had received the brunt of the enemy's fire, allied fire coming somewhat close.

"Captain-General Meade...perhaps we should..." an ensign chimed in nervously

"No" Meade replied softly, with a core of steel behind it.

"Yes sir. Carrying on the battle sir."

*A message is sent out to the allies on broad frequency using the translator systems available, calling for them to check their fire.*

"The battle has comm--Sir, the Covenant force just...disappeared."

"Check any distortions in space-time! I want to know if these bastards can play around with slipgates!"

With a few keystrokes across his control panel, the operations officer on deck scanned the battlefield grid for any slipstreams...finally spotting one that formed on the flanking position of the human ships.

"Oh my God..."

"Relay it to the ships there...I'm sure they'd appreciate it. Send a shuttle back to the spaceport and tell them to send the whole fleet here..."

-------

Thousands of ships began to amass at the jumpgate near Earth, all bristling with weapons platforms from tip to tip. Though mostly comprised of attack corvettes, there was enough dreadnoughts and frigates to level a whole planet or two. Sparsely spread out were the carriers, carrying dozens of airwings comprised of SA-43 Hammerheads (named so for their trademark front-end, shaped like the front extremity of a hammerhead shark).

Like the Javelin, they initiated their cloaking sequence with the usual flair of blue hues and sparks. Using their secure emitters to track one another, they navigated blindly towards the gate.

On board the bridge of the second fleet's flagship, the FSS Ares, Fleet Admiral Hamid Amara stood looking out of ships main viewscreen.

"I don't see them." He said.

His communications officer looked up. "Sir?" He queried.

"The first fleet.... where are they?" He continued to ask himself.

"Should I hail them?"

"Please." Hamid replied. A tall man, in his thirties, Hamid often kept to himself. He was a man of few words, excepting of course, times when he was amongst close friends. He had jet black hair, and enthralling blue eyes. He walked over to the weapons console.

The weapons officer looked up at his commander, echoing the communications officers query. "Sir?"

"Begin orbital bombardment on our landing zone. After you are.... 'relatively certain' that we won't be ambushed during the invasion. Stand by all weapons... shoot down any Covenant dropships that we can." He said, and added, "Before they land."

(OOC: Alien Covenant, I assume you have military forces on some of the Elven colonies)

Vaughn Sinclair paced on his bridge. "Hail the Crownguardians."

"Channel open."

"Crownguardian fleet. This is Fleet Admiral Vaughn Sinclair of the Expeditionary detachment of the First Wormian Deep Vector Fleet. We note your use of fighters." He paused, took a breath, and continued, "Wormian dropships are immently going to commense the first wave of significant infantry and armor on the planet. Undoubtedly, this will lead to Covenant dropships deploying troops in our way. Might you be able to shoot some of them down for us? Our orbital weapons become useless as soon as infantry is on the ground."

"Message sent to the Crownguardian fleet, sir."

"Very well." Sinclair walked over to his chair, and pushed a small button that under it in yellow letters was labeled 'launch bay'. He pressed it.

"Launch bay - this is Sinclair. How soon till launch?" Sinclair asked.

The intercom voice replied, "Imminent, sir. A small vote has taken place among the men...."

"What kind of vote?" Vaughn asked quickly.

"They want the fleet to cover the landing zone in orbital fire before they deploy."

"Assure them that they will see no grass when they step from the dropships. Bridge out." He released the button, and looked over to his weapons officer. Grabbing his fifth cup of coffee of the day, now cold, he sat down and said, "Well, you heard the man. Let's mow some lawns."

------------

What was seen next in orbit around an Elven world was a spectacle to behold. The Expeditionary force began to open fire upon the planned landing zone, a flat, unremarkeable plain not far from what sensors percieved to be a former Elven settlement. With luck, the Marines would reach some Elves in time.

-------------

2nd Expeditionary Task Force:

"Sir.... message from Republic Naval Headquarters.... begin... oh my... God... we are to begin firing on temple targets.... we... I thought we were supposed to avoid civilian casualties!!!"

"Calm down, Eckland. The Covenant are ruled by priests. It is them who likely decreed that this Holocaust need happen in the first place. Worry not." Hamid said, "On the other hand.... we will fire only at one temple. Make it a big one. Fire on no others... there could be civilians within. In fact, we can guarantee it." His face contorted into a helpless yet furious expression, "This is why war is hell." He said. He got up and walked to the pneumatic exit door of the bridge, and then stopped, "Lieutenant..." he began.

"Yessir?"

"I want a fleet count from all Coalition nations on ships that are currently here. Estimates on starfighters, if necessary."

Imminent Arrival:

OOC: The SA-43's are based off an old TV show on FOX called "Space: Above and Beyond". Same specs, same everything, except for the fact that they have shields. They're currently not for sale to other nations other than our allies, but if they were to be sold, shields would not be included.

The jumpgate from Earth opened up the wormhole behind the moon near the Javelin. The thousand-strong armada floated silently toward their set waypoints, with the wormhole being the only trace of their entrance into the fray.

Admiral Grier stood on the bridge of the dreadnought RSF Longinus overlooking the position of every ship on the fleet on the 3-D simulation. Each one was represented by their holographic wireframe counterparts, with little blue bars representing shield strength and green representing their hull integrity.

"Admiral, all ships have made it through the jumpgate and are preparing for the attack."

"Tell them to ready their slipstream drives...feed them waypoint data from the Javelin and get us on the Covenant flanks when they re-appear."

"Aye, aye."

"Are we covered from all sides?"

"Yes, Admiral. Seven on our rear. Five on each side."

So they awaited in ambush, with frigates stationed to fire at their flanks and rear should the Covenant discover their plot...

OOC: I'm not going to give an exact number, but like I stated before, we're about a thousand strong. But that doesn't mean I'm godmodding with hundreds of dreadnoughts, carriers, and frigates. The corvette ships are about a fourth the size of a Nimitz Class carrier (small in terms of space combat, IMO...Think the U.S.S. Defiant), and they comprise a large majority of that thousand. There are only 20 frigates present, 12 carriers, and 4 dreadnoughts. Each carrier carries 192 SA-43's and 8 B-290 bombers (Yes, the carrier is based off S:AAB, as well, just like the B-290 and SA-43). The fleet here is about 2/3's of Ramadoon's force. The rest are stationed back in Earth. If there's any inconsistencies present, please inform me so I can correct any mistakes made.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the corvettes perform the same tasks as the SA-43's, consisting of attacking fighters, small ships, etc. However, they are not as nimble as the SA-43's but compensate for this with the fact that they have slightly better armament and have the jumpgate capabilities of a capital ship. Thus, they do not have to report back to a carrier; instead, they directly retreat back to a shipyard in Earth orbit and refuel/rearm/repair there. Also, something about the cloaking devices...to make it more balanced and fair, the ships uncloak once weapons platforms are activated. It's more of a pro/con thing. It's able to cloak but not fire weapons at the same time, as it will overload its power source; thus, it has no other choice but decloak and fire, or cloak and run.

Crownguard is a fleet in this, rather like perhaps the Rebel Alliance in the second SW movie, or Homeworld fleet in the games. It has no "homeworld" and all the population is based on ships, refugees from the original Crownguard in the far past). At an estimate, with a proportionate military (based on space forces and marines for obvious reasons) of about 5%. That leaves about 75 million 150 thousand. Of that, figure much less than that is actually attacking, the far remainder defending the Main Fleet. 7 million 500 thousand or so are available and deployed in this battle. The ships hold anywhere from a hundred to five thousand soldiers etc, not including deployable marines to the surface. You do the math, but thats a lot of ships. More troops will be brought in as needed))

Sinclair grinned widely at the Crownguardian transmission. It was good to have a lighter side... even in a situation as grim as this one.

"Communications open." He said.

"Channel open." came the reply from behind.

"I'll have our technicians run diagnostics on our automated targeting computers. They should register your Identification Friend/Foe radio frequency in their filed memory, but if they do not, we may need it from you to prevent any friendly fire incidents. Again, I'm unsure if Wormian ships hit you, but it's always better to be safe than sorry." He breathed in, then continued, "For the long run, if there's so much as a proton of Wormian plasma on your hull, I owe you a round. In the meantime, we are currently implementing Operation: Resurrect St. Louis, the rescue of remaining colonists and the eradication of Covenant military presence there. Sinclair out."

The transmission ended with a cough of static, and Vaughn leaned back.

"Sir...." the sensor operator came from behind Sinclair, handing him a printout of the latest report. He wore an expression of joy, polished with a happy tear as he handed his captain the report.

It simply stated:
First Wormian Deep Vector Fleet Arrived. Transfer of Command, from Commodore Tyler M. Stephens to Task Force Admiral Vaughn I. Sinclair (promoted as of 4/25 from Fleet Admiral)

Make us proud, Task Force Admiral. Bring our boys back.

Signed,
Chancellor George Thomas IV

It took not long for Sinclair to share the same expression as his sensors operator, who handed him the memo. If the note he held were a coy plot to boost his morale, it worked.

With a renewed sense of moral, duty and integrity, Vaughn sat forward in his chair, the commander of the First Wormian Deep Vector Fleet.

OOC: I haven't made a formal introduction yet to the Coalition, so this short post should do it. BTW, slipstream = slip whatever. The Ramadoonians call it slipstreaming (teleporting short distances from one point to another), and Covenant can call it whatever the heck he wants. The only difference I guess I'll make w/ my terminology is that slipgate = the actual opening made in time/space when slipgating.

"Admiral, I've intercepted a message from one of the fleets present...It looks like they're ready to send in ground units."

"Are they aware of the Covenant ambush?"

"No, sir...Should I relay the coordinates for the planned slipgate openings?"

"No. The Covenant might intercept it."

"A shuttle team with envoys?"

"No. Not a shuttle...Smoke and mirrors..." Grier trailed off, conjuring up a way to communicate to the others.

"Sir?"

"Send one of our corvettes back to Earth, then have it come back uncloaked. Tell the crew to have it jump out of the gate right in front of the Wormian ships with some sort of...umm...friendly sign. Like a red cross or something. They'll be the ones to get the message across." A short pause as he rubbed his chin. "And if they think they're about to be captured by the Covenant...have them self-destruct."

-------

The comms officer nodded grimly as he passed the orders down the line. One of the cloaked corvettes, the RSF Enforcer did as it was told: opened a jumpgate back to Earth, came back uncloaked, and appeared right in the bow of a Wormian dreadnought...

"Wormian ship, requesting permission to board...Do not open fire. Ramadoonian ambassadors are inside." It was an outright lie, of course. These weren't ambassadors...just a couple of ensigns and a lieutenant, with a captain thrown into the mix. They were messengers.

**The Captain-General smiled, a rather good sign if somewhat shocking to the crew. It ranked up there with finding the Holy Grail or Elvis or something. They hd interdicted the burst message, but that wasnt really a concern. Good news was meant to be shared.**

"We feel that the oh so kind Admiral wouldnt be a bit displeased to host a few pints for the boys. Oh, and congratulations on the promotion. The IFF code is Alpha-Zeta-Epsilon-2209. Run that through and you should be all set. With a PLANET as a target, I would hate to explain 'collateral damage'. Meade out."

"Lets lay down a carpet barrage then for the oh so kind gentlemen from the Wormian Fleet. Gunners, fire at will at all targets of opportunity."

*The message relayed through the ships of the assembled Task Force One and Task Force Two (far side and near side of planet respectively). Thousands of laser turrets jutted from the sides of the assembled vessels, swiveling on bubble mounts as they rained burning destruction to both the planet and any ship foolish enough to try to engage the Wormian and Crownguardian forces. The fighters themselves silently thanked whatever it was fighters believed in besides their own egos that they were not under the hail of light.*

"Sir... we are being hailed...."

Vaughn stood up. His drained seventh cup of coffee lay on the armwrest of his chair. "Are we?" He replied, catching a glimpse of the bridge chronometer, which read 0:55. "Arg..." he began. "By whom?"

"Ramadoonian. Enforcer, from our sensor logs. We've seen her once. They have ambassadors aboard."

Vaughn looked up. He attempted to draw up where and when they had seen the Enforcer before... but he drew a blank. At this hour... his mind was a pit of slag... he then snapped back into live focus... Ambassadors? In the middle of a warzone?

"Is a channel open?" Vaughn asked.

"Now, sir."

"RSF Enforcer, you are lingering off my bow with a few ambassadors in the middle of futuristic hell. Wh...." Vaughn thought for a moment. They weren't about to pull anything funny. Wormia was on good terms with Ramadoon... and Enforcer was a Corvette... in from Earth... "Wh.... why don't you come aboard?" Vaughn was mere milllmeters from asking 'Why?,' but at the last moment he decided the better part of valor was to risk it.

"Sir?" his communications officer half yelled, taken off by the order. Wormian protocal was sensitive about foreigners, particularly diplomats on board Wormian ships.

"Shut up, ensign." Sinclair said. at 0:59, he had little tolerance for simple questions. To bed it was....

OOC: And... for me too. goodnight.

A comm tech onboard the Kanuckistani vessel practly choaked as the transmission came across his screen, befor replying to his Wormia counterpart, "I sincerly hope your reffering to ordinance leveled at planetary targets; otherwise you're basicly asking us to limit ourselves to point-defence batteries."

Meanwhile, flights of fighters began launching; 350 in total, split into 50 wings of 7 each, they began accelerating on their inertial direct drives to C-fractional cruising speeds, spreading out to scour the system of anywhere the enemy fleet could be hiding, if indeed they were there.

OOC:
I have exactly one ship in this system, along with 5000 Daemon's Bane-class unmanned multirole interceptors.

The fighters I launched break down as follows, per wing of 7:
-3 carrying anti-fighter space superiority loadouts
-2 carrying anti-capitalship loadouts
-2 carrying SWAC ECM/ECCM packages and advanced sensor packages, including full-band EM, metaphasic hyper/hypo/sub/slipspace, gravitic resonance interferometer, and quantum resonance inferencer.

They ought to be able to spot anything cloaked or in hyperspace, slipspace, etc, and will be peaking behind moons, other planets, or anything that could hide an enemy ship

The Enforcer glided into an open bay, landing with a metallic "clank" upon the surface of the Wormian ship. As the environmental shield was activated and separated them from the vacuum of space, its crew hurriedly disembarked, all clothed with the white military dress uniforms. Clearly, they weren't the ambassadors they had said they were.

Under the arm of Captain Richard Sobel was the datapad containing the slipgate coordinates. Approaching a Wormian crewmember, he bellowed out his request...or rather, order.

"Take me to your commander...now."

-------

"Has the Enforcer made it?"

"Yes, sir. It has docked with one of the Wormian ships."

"Good, good...We're in business."

"What about the Crownguard ship...sir...?"

Damn, a nerve snapped in Grier's forehead. He had neglected to give them orders concerning the passing of information to the Crownguard fleet.

"Sir?"

"Hopefully, they won't run the risk of using their comms to pass it on. If you intercept a message about us between the two fleets, we slipstream to...that moon." He pointed at a dot labeled "Uthros" on the holographic representation of the Covenant homeworld.

"Sir? Permission to speak freely?"

"Go ahead, Lieutenant."

"If we wait in Uthros, we're too far to slipstream to the intended gates...The ambush wouldn't work."

"I know. If you believe in God, Lieutenant, now's the time to pray." Sobel, I will personally beat the living daylights out of you if you do not personally deliver the message to the Crownguard...

"Er...." The crewmember said, not surprisingly a bit taken aback.

The ship's intercom's flared to life with a burst of static noise. "This is Task Force Admiral Vaughn Sinclair. Bring the Ramadoonian delegation to the bridge."

With a bit of annoyance that he didn't get to exact his revenge on the berating order from a foreign officer, the crewman bit his lip and said, "Follow me." in as polite a manner he could muster.

-------------

Vaughn sat at his chair, reading his electronic clipboard on the latest reports. He preferred these rather than printed paper, though he knew even the paper on his ship went back into it's virtually endless cycle of recycling. The bridge was overall quiet, a few bleeps here and there or the occasional melody of a crewmember using music to keep attention. Seldom in the day was the bridge so tranquil...

Deceptively so. As if on cue, the communications sector of the bridge (the entire port wall) exploded in dazzling multicolored light. The comm officer jumped at the lattice of beeping and blinking, turned and said, "Sir! Incoming transmissions from the Kanuckistani and the Crownguardians!!"

"Play in order, audio only." Vaughn said. He liked the viewscreen taking in the natural beauty of space, and the infinite patterns of it....

"I sincerly hope your reffering to ordinance leveled at planetary targets; otherwise you're basicly asking us to limit ourselves to point-defence batteries."

"Patch me through." Vaughn said.

"You're on, sir."

"Kanuckistani fleet, the message was intended as a generality to all Covenant forces. It meant that military ones are the only acceptable targets. Sinclair out." He finished. He paused for a moment, waiting for the next message, before he said, "Crownguardian?"

The comms officer snapped back into the present. "Oh... uhhh... right sir. Playing now."

Meade out."

Vaughn thought about this one for a brief moment. Promotion....? It came on paper.... how'd... they... know........ ..... .....? Vaughn shook it off, and replied, "Understood. Relaying message now..." he nodded to the communications officer, who instantly began vigorously forwarding the message to the Wormian allies. Vaughn continued, "... I can see your point..." He finished.

Sobel kept a stern expression on his face as he was led to the bridge by the irked Wormian. He usually exchanged pleasantries with any friendly military crewman he came in contact with, but now wasn't the time. There was a more important matter at hand.

As his entourage entered the room, the Captain took in the site of a rather familiar bridge...It was a Wormian engineer after all who had partaken in the design of their new ships. Only the cloaking device and weapons platforms were of Ramadoon origin.

Without any formalities, whatsoever, Sobel briskly strolled past the numerous battlestations within the bridge and handed over the datapad to Admiral Sinclair.

"One of our scout ships detected possible slipgate openings on your flanks...They might be trying to set up an ambush. We would have informed you in a much more *ahem* convenient manner, but the top brass were afraid of having the message intercepted. The fleet's ready to counterattack should they re-appear again--about a thousand strong, all cloaked. They're mostly corvettes and tact fighters, but we've got a few aces up our sleeve. IC:

News of the Covenant's brutal massacre of humans inside their Empire reached even the ears of Premier Facehugger, back on Earth. While he was disturbed by the lack of foresight displayed by the Covenant, he felt a strange kinship between his people and theirs. Both were honorable, and are willing to fight to the death to protect what they believe in. And now the Covenant was being invaded, for what? A few paltry millions of humans and elves. How many million more innocent Covenant civilians would die before the end of this war? How many of his soldiers would need to be sacrificed to protect the Covenant? These thoughts weighed heavily upon him as he considered the descision to deploy troops.

The Generals wanted him to, for they considered the use of nuclear weapons upon a planet where civilians are present wholly dishonorable. They didn't even like the fact that the Dreadnoughts were equipped with nuclear torpedos for space combat.

The people wanted war, for they had always been strongly supportive of a nation's right to do what it wants, even if what it wants is not the best course of action. National soverignty at its finest.

The Senate voted upon war, 100-50.
The House of the People voted, 469-117.

All that remained was for the Premier to formally declare war, and deploy troops. But is that really a good idea? Is there a chance of victory against such monsterous forces? Perhaps it would be best to power up the national defenses, should his plan fail.

Upon a broadcast to the entire CF Space forces, the premier said:
"Soldiers of the United Socialist States of Central Facehuggeria, it is time to go to war. For too long have you sat idly by while imperialists and warmongers have gobbled up the rights of nations. Nations that have only done something that these warmongers consider 'distasteful.' It is time to send a clear message to such governments. The USSCF shall protect the Covenant from the genocidal fleets hovering above their homeworld. Many of you may not come back, but know that no matter the result, you'll make the nation and the people proud. You are all...heroes..." The Premier's speech was met with a roar of applause. He only hoped that he wasn't dooming the nation to an unwinnable war.

Inside the 'war room' of the CF Capital building, the Premier met with his cabinet;

"Premier, I reccommend we deploy the entierty of the space forces. I am confident in our defenses and the homeguard." Admiral Edward Jerico Halsey, leader of the Space Forces spoke. His voice was full of pride. Only the mighty [and now eliminated] Klonor empire could defeat his space fleet, or so he thought.

"No Premier! We need some of those ships at home, to protect the nation should we fail! Send only half of the fleet. My ground forces are some of the best in the business. I'm confident that we can beat em on the ground." General Minsc had an air of confidence in his speech. Ground combat had always been the CF armed forces' strongsuit, even back to the days of the resistance.

Suddenly the Premier spoke, and the room fell silent. "Halsey, I can understand your confidence in the fleet. It is powerful, true. But Minsc raises a good point. We cannot leave our nation with just its static defenses, should the battle above the covenant homeworld go poorly. We will send two thirds of the fleet. That will leave us with enough protection to resist any enemy fleets that come knocking, I hope. Just in case, begin placing sentry turrets in orbit around the nation, and tell the raildriver batteries to stand by. Prepare the national shield system [currently untested], and call up the reserves. If this turns into a ground war upon our soil, I want everyone able to wield a gun using one. Make preperations to move the civilians to the shelters. I hope to god this is the right descision."

Everyone at the meeting bowed and left the Premier to his thoughts. He tried not to think about the bloodbath he had just waded into, but all he could see were visions of CF men and women screaming, burning at the hands of enemy orbital bombardment...
Were these just paranoid thoughts, or portents of things to come?

OOC: So there you have it. I'll say exactly what I'm deploying later. I'm deploying them to help the Covenant. And lets please keep ortillery out of this, if we can.

OOC: My admiral's name is merely a coincidence. He is in no way related to the real admiral Halsey of WWII fame, nor any current admiral Halsey. I have edited his full name into the post. That should help to clear up any confusion. Also, technically no forces have been deployed yet. If the Covenant doesn't want help, I'll just leave, but until then...

IC: Throughout the CF fleet, preperations were made for departure. Weapons were double and triple checked and torpedos were loaded. Tons of supplies such as food and fuel were sent over to the departing ships for they may be gone for quite some time.

It would take several days [one post] to martial the fleet, and ensure everything is prepared for any reprisal that may come from aggressor nations.

At this point, only a tithe of the fleet was prepared to leave; a measly five dreadnoughts and twelve battlecruisers. Sending the ships out peicemeal would be a useless waste of men. No, for any hope of victory, the fleet would need to think on its feet. And not be divided into tiny portions that could be crushed easily.

Meanwhile, inside a secret research facility inside the Sol asteroid belt;

Doctor Enis looked out at his latest creation, the Supernova it was beautiful, a marvel of the most advanced technology in the nation. Who knows what power it holds? Will it give the CF fleet the edge, against the numerically superior 'Coalition' forces? Or would it make no difference? Such a small craft surely couldn't do to much in the grand scheme of things, or could it?

Until the use of large scale orbital bombardment (including nuclear weapons up to and above 20 megatons) is ceased, we will have no choice but to attempt to defend the Covenant. Ground warfare results in less collateral civilian casualities.

Federate Republican News

A young reporter, dirty blonde, shuffles some papers and begins to speak. A respectable news network, FRN is transmitted across the six worlds of Wormia with a few subspace transmissons. Before she was on live television, she sighed.

The war's gotten tougher... she thought.

"Okay! We're on in 3... 2..." a nearby cameraman shouted.

She breathed in heavily, and then a small yet very clear image of her in 3d sparkled to life on a glowing pad. She was on.

"The Wormain intervention into the Covenant genocide seems to be reaching pandemic proportions, as now nearly 18 nations of galactic influence have declared official war for or against the Covenant sect of Alien Covenant."

"Recent developments have perturbed the strong foundation of victory into a shaky standstill. With the Federation of Brandoniats and the Dominion of Kanuckistan having pulled forces out of the system, and the United Socialist States of Central Facehuggeria having intervened on behalf of the Covenant, Wormia's popular opinion for the war seems to have dwindled to an insecure 52%. Chancellor George Thomas IV addressed the population today in a speech about the war."

She sighed, and took out a hidden glass of water and gulped half of it down as the cameras devoted their time to the recent afternoon speech of the Chancellor defending the war. On nearby holopads, she watched the speech she had seen probably ten times that day.

"We need not to reinforce why we have gone to war. Did not the Allies confront Hitler when he began killing? So too, shall we intervene on behalf of what is right. Genocide, cannot, will not be allowed around or near the Wormian border." He said, in a very animated manner. His eloquence was matched with his arm motions around his words.

"It is unfortunate but not altogether preventable that two of our allies pulled from the conflict, but Wormia is willing to confront Central Facehuggeria with the same force that the Covenant has been met with. We still have many allies, and while the Covenant's plea for help has, unfortunately been recognized, we will stand to impede genocide in any way." He stopped for a moment, and looked down.

He then began again, "Genocide is genocide. I am disheartened... if not sickened.. that only 52% of Wormia's population has any care for our extragalactic brothers, to whom we owe in ways we cannot imagine. They traverse great distances, settle unpopulated, barren and desolate, uncivilized worlds so that our future may be a prosperous one, and yet I find 48% of our population disagreeing with saving millions of lives. That doesn't begin to count the men and women who have gone out to save our stellar brethren at the cost of the ultimate sacrifice." With that, he stormed off the podium.

She was back on again, brushing a bit of dirty blonde hair from her face. "Accusations from Central Facehuggeria heighten the tension of the stellar world, as they send indictments one of which accuses Allied nations of deploying weapons at or above 20 megatons. Defense secretary Mary Gindlef comments."

Again, the reporter gazed at an active holoscreen that played the same speech she had seen so many times that day.

"We would use exatonic warheads if it was necessary. Unfortunately, necessity is, by our government deemed by civilian presence, of which there are millions of in the Covenant city. We have used no weapons in out or around 20 megatons, as Central Facehuggeria claims, and, furthermore, have yet to utilize weapons in excess of 1 kiloton."

"One premise of this war is remembering history, how Hitler was genocidal and how the Allies stopped him. Thus, I am compelled to remember that Wormia has not only ceaselessly demanded that Allied nations recall that this is a war against genocide and will remain so, but also that Wormia cannot forget the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and wish not to have that kind of bloodshed pasted across our hands. As for Central Facehuggeria's claims, they are but idle threats to validate their intervention in this war."

Two cruisers, the Thunderchild and Akagi, dropped out of warp on the edge of the system. Their scanners picked up the signs of the fleet in the inner planets. Aboad the Thunderchild, the taskforce commander, Admiral Wiliam Wallace, enjoyed the view. Wallace turned to his communications officer.

"Send a message to the fleet, subspace and RF, as they may not have subspace tranceivers. 'Coalition fleet, this is Admiral Wallace, of the Federation task force. We request that you lower the FTL inhibitors, and allow us to approach the planet at warp. End transmission' Ops, launch a sensor buoy. If anything tries to follow us in, I want to know about it."

An aft torpedo tube opened, and the buoy tumbled out. Its thrusters fired, stabilizing it till it had stopped moving. Several antennae extended, and the subspace aerial unfolded.

"Buoy away sir. Standard frequency."

"Very good. Instruct the Akagi to remain on station here until the fleet answers our hails. However, if any hostiles arrive, they are to make best speed towards the fleet. Understood?"

"Aye sir, message away."

"Helm, take us in, one quarter impulse."

On the aft edge of the saucer, the impulse drives flared, and the Thunderchild began to move away from the Akagi.

OOC: Stupid server, Grr. I've been trying to post this for a couple of days now.

IC: It was truely a sight to behold, over twenty monsterous battleships gathering at the CF rally point. Factor in the sixty heavy cruisers and two bloated Carriers, and you have incredible amounts of destructive power in one area. Thousands of fighters and bombers and hundreds of corvettes and boarding ships provided even more firepower.

But all that punch would be useless without efficient tactics, and that is where the CF Space Corps shined. Admiral Hunt and his staff had been up many nights, perfecting the attack strategy. Everything was prepared, almost all the ships were ready to go. But an obvious exception was the Supernova, which was to be the CF fleet's ace up their sleeve. The Supernova was still undergoing final launch procedures, and would depart soon. The fleet would then be ready for the first major battle.

Everyone, from Admiral Hunt himself down to a lowly private, fully believed in what they were doing. Whipped up by propaganda and already fanatically loyal to the nation, they were prepared to die for the twin ideas of national soverignty and the cessation of the use of ortillery.

OOC: If and when you beat my fleet, and decide to try and attack my nation, I'll provide info on defenses. Stats for my ships will also come in a later post. (I have to dig em up)

An explanation of CF shields and weapons:

Accumulator shields actually asorb heat based attacks, channeling them into the shield emitters. So heat based attacks such as a plasma cannon actually improve shield stregnth. Laser and kinetic energy (railgun) attacks are stopped, but their energy cannot be asorbed by the capacitor.

Heavy plasma beam weapons are designed to take out capital ships. They cannot accurately target anything smaller than a frigate.

Graviton beam weapons are designed to take out super-capital ships such as another Dreadnought or an enemy battleship. It cannot target anything smaller than one kilometer across.

Phased Particle cannons are essientially standard particle beam weapons that are linked to the ship's active/passive sensors. They change the properties of the beam fired (within limit) to be most effective against a target shield.

Heavy railguns accelerate a projectile roughly the size of a volkswagen beetle to 1/2 light speed.

Whew. Finally found it. An IC post will have to wait until I come back from school.

Offical response of the Celeborne High Command :

"We are watching"

"DAMN!" Chancellor George Thomas IV threw his glasses at the hologram which, in writing, announced the statement from Celeborne. Of course, the sheet of light was hardly dense enough to stop them, and they careened across the room into a titanium-diamond wall.

For an instant, the Chancellor's attention diverted to see if his glasses had broken, but their plastic and polymer compounds held them together well. He pressed a small blue button on his desk communicator.

"Sir?" the frequent question his secretary asked once again resonated through his office.

"Get me Jameson."

"Calling the Minister of Foreign Affairs now sir... transferring.. no-" the secretary's final word was sliced by the static of message transfer.

The hologram on Chancellor George Thomas IV's desk changed to reveal the face of his Foreign Affairs Minister.

"Chancellor... not surprising to see you. Might I inquire, where are your glasses?" He asked.

"Irrelevant at this point... you probably read the note before I did." the Chancellor said.

"Hours before sir. It seems to short to derive any political stance from it."

Chancellor Thomas bent to pick up his glasses, and then promptly sat at his desk. "This was supposed to be a breeze... it's turning into a World War I ... of the celestial civlizations..."

"Indeed. Might I suggest we send a delegation to Celeborne?"

"A delegation only. I want them to know why we're fighting this war. I want them to know we can be trusted as Allies for this war. I don't have to remind you that the Covenant...."

"...Don't need any more allies. I understand sir. A delegation it shall be..."

Federate Republican News

The same newswoman from before again appeared across the Andromeda Galaxy for the Federate Republican News, the premier news agency in the Andromeda Galaxy.

"The war on the Covenant has reached a complete standstill, but tensions grow in the system of the Covenant Homeworld. The Chancellor made a speech at 10.5 Standard Andromeda Time, approximately 12:46pm Eastern Standard Time; today, regarding the idle situation." She paused, and reached for a glass of water hidden under the newsdesk as the holocams ceased capturing her image.

She looked at each holopad... the live situations from around known space. A riot on Epsilon Eridanus IV, an asassination on Keyemar, and a skirmish between a remaining Klonorian ship and some Takian vessels. She sighed - the world of space was in chaos, and growing only more chaotic.

She glanced at the semi-transparent image of the Chancellor, standing at his podium.

"We will not allow genocide to continue, and I am almost sick of having to reiterate this point ceaselessly. Our campaign... our crusade is to liberate those unfortunate enough to be on the colonies from the tyranny of persecution. To allow these acts to continue is as bad as to commit them."

"Due to inactivity from members of either side, The Federated Stellar Republics WILL assume Allied victory and call together a conference regarding territorial distribution and/or "regime modification." A response within 48 hours (OOC: Realtime) from either Central Facehuggeria, Alien Covenant, or the Sacred Covenant will be necessary to counter this action."

And with that, Chancellor George Thomas IV promptly left his podium.

Finally, the Thunderchild arrived among the inner planets. The fleet hung motionlessly over the planet, waiting for something to happen. Accoding to the intel the admiral had received, for several days there had been no activity. Nothing. The Covenant fleet had entered slipstream, then never returned. In the pricess of moving in-system, the admiral had called in another 2 Akiras for support. The Thunderchild's captain turned to the admiral.
"Admiral, perhaps the Covenant were evacuating the planet. That's why they haven't been defending."
"Perhaps captain, but I have a feeling that it is much more than that. We are on the cusp of a storm. Order the Akagi to seed the edge of the system with sensor buoys, and work their way in-system doing this."
"Aye sir."
I know you're out there, so where are you?

OOC: I hope this thing posts properly.

IC: After a delay of several days, the fleet was finally prepared to move out. In all, twenty dreadnoughts and sixty heavy cruisers would be leaving the Sol system. And leading them all were two unique vessels, the Supernova (Corvette class, 125m) and the newly refitted CFV Vengeance. The Vengeance was actually the first CF dreadnought constructed, and it has now been retrofitted with new, more advanced technology, including a device that provides a full screen from missiles and fighters (76% effectiveness.)

These refits had taken a bit of time, but they were now entirely complete. The fleet was ready to go.

All across the fleet, sub sentient computers punched in the proper coordinates into the Xenium Hyperdrive systems. The plan was to emerge from hyperspace on the other side of the largest moon and hide there until the fleet was marshalled and the crews rested. (A nasty habit of CF FTL tech is that people come out quite disoriented due to a time differential between when they leave and when they appear in their destination.)

Within seconds, the powerful shipboard computers had calculated the exit coordinates, coordinates that would take them on a roundabout way to behind the moon. Their path was meticulously crafted to stay outside the enemy's sensors- there should be no method of knowing where the fleet is until it is too late.

It would be Admiral Carpman's finest hour, or so he thought. But would he be correct? Would his tactical skill allow his fleet to defeat the enemy forces that are raining death upon innocent Covenant civilians? Only time would tell.

Across the rally point, there was a massive energy spike as all the Xenium Implosion Reactors onboard the assembeled ships spiked at the same moment, opening over a hundred small 'tears' in the fabric of space. An all prevading green light engulfed each ship as it entered the bizarre dimension known to the CF scientists as "Quasi-Space." To the people on the ships, it appeared as though only a few seconds had passed, but in the real universe over ten hours had gone by.

The fleet arrived at its destination, hopefully unnoticed.

OOC: The Supernova is 125 meters long, has 6 weapons hardpoints (!) as well as point defense clusters and small missile pods. It has powerful shields and is highly manouverable due to the VCT's (Vector Control Thrusters) used in its hull. She's a real powerful ship and I'm pretty proud of the internal componentes I came up with for her.

Here's a pic:
