Being that i am fairly new at this game, i have a few questions for the old "pros" out their. First of all, how do you calculate how much money you can spend on defence/military. Second, in order to field a military do you have to have purchased goods from a storefront? Third, i dont no if this is the right forum to be asking this question, but since it is the most popular if figured i would try it here first, if there is "proper" forum to field these and other questions in please feel free to tell me which one. Thanks

I would first suggest looking at the STICKIES posted at the top of this forum. Lots of great information to be gleaned.

Second, to determine your "purchasing power", check out this website:

Just plug in the information requested. Most people would figure 10% of your budget (not GDP) should go towards the Military.

In addition, only about 25% of your Military Budget goes to purchasing new equipment. Most of your funds will go towards maintenance and salaries of your military. The balance will probably go towards your own R&D.

Regarding storefronts. They're great for items that are not normally in Modern Tech. For any item that is Modern Technology and used by RL militaries today, I don't think one needs to necessarily go through a storefront. The only caveat would be those storefronts that are offering ridiculous discounts on Modern Tech.

Of course, you can also design and produce your own production... however, it's recommended you role-play those.
