After 3 years of development and feavered construction a coalition of nations, namely Friyusistan, Wetland and Jordaxia finally made their first true space craft. They will use this small fleet to construct a base using some of the asteroids near earth as a platform to build our factories and housing for the workers. The ships are being constructed in Friyusistan and the nuclear reactor powering these craft are being delivered by Jordaxia. Wetland has provided the design, FTL-drive and computer systems.
The name of the class will be Hermes and the first ship that is constructed will be named Asimov.

Test flight has been succesful. Each propulsion system worked as expected and the hull held admirably when the ship re-entered the atmosphere. We will immediately begin construction of the remaining 9 craft and the Asimov will start ferrying equipement to the chosen asteroid.

We here in Wetland have decided to postphone the celebrations untill the ship has landed on the asteroid for the first time.

Specs of the ship:
Power core: nuclear reactor providing 200 MW of power.
Sub-light speed: 10 km/s max.
FTL-speed: 3.000c max.
Means of providing artificial gravity: none
crew: 4
Duration of missions: 50 days
hull composition: classified

High Commander of Hidden Nation - Iax Mehal

Iax Mehal - open a link to the 3 newly spacefaring nations , offer them a standard sub-light traveling core to study , and improve upon their current design , and also offer them a shielding device , lower then our technology , as we wish to offer all that we can , it is impressive for a nation to make its first forage into space , and a coalition to do so even more so.

Likian , commander of the 2nd fleet , but sir , they have no advanced forms of communication , shal i send a radio transmission?

Iax - do it , as the mubers of our habitable planets dwindle , we need more allies to even keep this small nation alive , (thinks - i dont even control 1/10 of it its a lawless place , but , perhaps if we make enough allies ,i can remake this nation into a true, strong , powerful one , i wish i had more then 8 small fleets dammit!)

The Federation of Wetland is proud to announce that the space station is finally ready. There have been a few delays but now it is ready for construction.

Our ships have been reassigned for the new task of building our anti-matter factory in a orbit around the sun between Venus and Earth.

The Dominion of Kanuckistan offers it's congratulations, and offers assistance in this venture, should such be desired.

We also sugest you may be interested in looking at the Restored ESUS (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=139955&start=20&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=); we have a number of well established, elder member nations, including Kanuckistan, and don't infringe upon national sovergnty like many other alliances.

First battleship
http://www.zarkonnen.com/images/galleryimages/ironclad.jpg
The Ironclad is the first design for a warship. We still don’t have a way to generate artificial gravity so this ship will produce it through spinning around its axis. It gets its name from the extensive armour shell designed to minimise exposed surface area.

The turrets are mounted in an unusual way - on rails that go around the ship. This enables them to be pointed in practically any direction, unlike stationary turrets whose area of fire is heavily occluded by the ship they are installed and it makes it possible to fire at one point despite the fact that the ship is spinning. The Ironclad is armed with two of these laser turrets that target fast-moving targets and a front-mounted particle beam cannon in the central axis which is meant to take out bigger ships. There have been some problems getting this cannon to work and this weapon would not work without the antimatter power core.

The primary role of the Ironclad is scouting but it is also quite capable of taking on other ships. It is seventy meters long, 30 meters in diameter and crewed by six. The armour is comprised out of a meter thick titanium hull covered by ceramic tiles. Between the tiles is the shield grid. This creates a weak electromagnetic field that repels most particles when at FTL speeds and also is used during combat to repel most solid ammunition weapons and some types of energy weapons

It’s sensor array is complimented by the Agatha array we got from the alien ship and it has a quantum computer. Although we were able to extend the length of the period it can operate continuously we still had to install 2 of them to allow continuous use of the computer. There is also an old fashioned silicum processor on board but it is not capable of working with the Agatha array so the ship will be a bit blind if the main computers fail.

It has two nacelles and is powered by an antimatter-core making it far faster then the Mule. It has enough fuel for 2 months of uninterrupted FTL-flight and so is expected to fly missions that last at least 3 months but can last as much as 6. Any longer is not recommended because of the cramped living conditions on board. Apart from this primary power core there is also a reserve energy battery which can be used in emergencies but the main cannon cannot be used when on emergency power.
Production will begin immediately.

And here are some specifications:
class: gunship
length: 70 meters
diameter: 30 meters
crew: 6
power: 1 antimatter power core
Engines: 1 reactionless drive system/2 warp nacelles
duration: 6 months
weapons:
1 Particle beam cannon
2 rail mounted laser turrets
defense: 1 meter titanium covered with ceramic tiles
Shielding: weak electromagnetic field
Cost: 4 Billion
FTL-drive: Standard warp core

Rail-mounted turrets are not advised; such things are difficult to armour and easily damaged in even light combat, while conventional turrets can be made quite robust. Simply mounting the turrets on oposite sides, placed 'high' from the hull, will provide excellent firing lines on a cylindrical vessel.

Alternativly, you may with to utalise an armoured, free-rotating 'collar' in a similar manner to the rail system for mounting your mobile turrets; indeed, such could be attached to the ship by rail, but far less vulnerible.

a Tigerclaw Class Destroyer exits hyperspace (ever seen Babylon 5? think of the the Omega and you got your tigerclaw oh thats same with the hyperspace) it was pure black with the Technomagi markings on it, it moved towards the space station no comms no nothing towards the station, it stops 6,000m away from it still no word.
then the Front hanger opens 7 Valkyires fly out escorting a shuttle heading towards the station.
"til na'cree mav'la Ne Cra Tal" camm over the comm of the sation, then as soon as they came over "oh sorry about that wrong langue, Im im High Technomagi of the Dark empire we wish to come abord" a male voice sead.

as soon as the shuttle was about 100m away from the station it stoped, but the Valkyires went right up to the Sation turning into Battloid mode landing (softly) onto the Hull of the station, they took up places all around the station seeming to be looking out for something.

"Yellow alert! Unkown ship is approaching."
After they got the message, they deliberated for a few seconds after which they sent this reply:
"Uhm, I am afraid that we are not authorized to make first contact with any nation nor are we allowed to let unkown persons without the proper security clearance on board. We have however sent a message to our governements and you are welcome to send a delegation to them."

"Lets hope they have patience with bureaucracy, can we activate the defenses?"
"Not without them noticing and they will probably be suspicious about that move after we just told them they can't come on board."
"Then we will just have to wait."

"call the Valkyires back have the Tech'ni Scan the station, a deep scan i want to know what its used for" the older one sead "mmmm waiting around tipical oh well contact the Alsacra have here jump here as well, last time our kind sent one ship they were attack, well the planet anyway"
the Tech'ni gun ports were open, no targets were set but it was a sign of respect and in the case of an attack they could respond alot quicker.
half an hour later another jump point opened and an Akiran Class battleship exited as well as 2 torpedo frigates, they moved along side the Tech'ni it to was pure black with the Technomage mark.

"Unknown vessel this is the President of the Federation of Wetland. After consulting with my fellow nations about your request I am happy to tell you that you may come on board the station. We would prefer if you would tell us who you are and where you came from. We also urge you to keep the delegation small."

Mean while on the space station, they picked up the transmission but also the opening of what seemed to be gunports and an increase in the energy emissions from the ship.

"Ok, if they want to scan us then we can scan them. But don't activate target sensors or the weapons. They wouldn't do us much good in this case."

OOC: I am assuming you are not at the antimatter factory but at the shipyards. You only have permission to enter the latter.

A single Firestorm class frigate undocked from the CF Chimera shipyard. Onboard the small, 400 meter long frigate was a full diplomatic envoy. The ship was armed to the teeth, as all CF ships tend to be, but for the entirety of this trip, her weapons would be kept in safe mode. They did not expect any enemy craft to attack. And if they did, the weapons on board the frigate could be powered up within a minute.

The ship moved to a safe distance, away from any interstellar craft and activated its hyperdrive system. An all pervading green light accompanied the ship's entry into quasi-space. Fifteen minutes later, although to the crew it appeared to only be a heartbeat, the ship emerged near the Wetland Space Station.

The ship broadcasted a message to the Station:

[code:1:72e410ce7b]
We, of the nation of Central Facehuggeria welcome you to space. We have a diplomatic envoy upon this ship, we wish to negotiate commercial ties with your emerging space nation. We await your reply.[/code:1:72e410ce7b]

Rendering of the Mercury flying through space

This class was designed as a response to the call for a colony ship and also to the call by the private sector for a ship useful for commerce. The Mercury is the answer. It is far larger then any other ship that has ever been built by us and comes in to varieties. The first is meant for colonisation, shipping between military installations and carrying supplies for the navy. Their is also a version that is meant for the private sector and export. It is slower then the first version due to the fact that the antimatter core is replaced by 2 fusion reactors. Both versions however are the same in every other aspect. They both use civilian grade computer technology and sensor equipment and have no artificial gravity.

A single avatar transport emerged from the vessel's docking bay, it was carrying the entire diplomatic team. It glided towards the space station and broadcasted this message:

The administrator felt very humiliated for forgetting to ask that sooner. He gave the people in the control room a good look but everybody seemed to be very busy with something. But he didn't have any time, he had to hurry to bay 2 to welcome their guests. As he hastened himself to the bay, he prepared himself to welcome these aliens hoping that they looked at least vaguely human.

[code:1:edfc4f891f]There are three diplomats onboard the transport.[/code:1:edfc4f891f]

The transport used its thrusters to delicately slow the craft to be in synch with the motion of the station. Scanners had identified a docking port, and that would be the Diplomats' means of entry.

Matching the motion exactly, the transport flew into the docking bay. The Ship's magnetic clamps latched down upon the station's floor with a heavy thud. The rear door of the transport fell down with another loud crash.

From the craft stepped two armored beings. They appeared humanoid, but were larger and bulkier. Where their faces should have been, one could see nothing but a reflective black faceplate, enshrouding the beings inside the armor completely. They also each carried an object that was obviously a rifle.

They paused for a moment, taking in the scenery, making sure there was no danger to the diplomats soon to be disembarking.

Satisfied that the area was relatively secure, one of the armored things tapped its face plate once. As if on cue, three more of the things emerged from the ship.

What set these apart from the ones that came before was the fact that their armor is matte white, and they are unarmed.

The lead diplomat moved out in front of the group and sent the troops back to the ship with a series of hand gestures.

He then started, waiting for a guide.

"Greetings, I have good news. The federation of Wetland has already agreed to a meeting. We have sent a message to Jordaxia and Friyusistan but haven't received a reply yet. The officials of Wetland are ready to meet you now if you will just follow me to the conference room."

The conference room had a large table of some kind of plastic and seats that didn't look like they would hold the armoured delegates but luckily this was a zero gravity enviroment so weight wouldn't be a problem. On the screen in front of the table was a depiction of the flag of Wetland rippling in a soft breeze.

As the sun dawned behind the last Mule delivering supplies and colonists to the New Dawn, Galo Vatren looked at the huge ship and put the Phoenix into position.

"Hard to believe we built that so quickly, isn't it?"
"Yes, sir. But I wouldn't mind piloting it to the planet."
"As long as you also get the oppertunity to bring it back, right?"
"Haha, or any other place."
"You might just get your chance, I heard they are going to refit the Mule class soon. Preparing them for a new age of space exploration, I heard."

They both were silent now, looking at the starts while the last supplies were hauled into the New Dawn.

"We are delegates from the Nation of Central Facehuggeria. We wish to negotiate economic treaties with your nation." The second delegate added.

"We have been in space for quite some time, and we must warn you that not everyone else in the galaxy is as...benevolent as you might hope. You should be very careful of certain races. Some races would conquer your nation in a blatant act of imperialism without even batting an eyelash.
