"...so I says, answer THAT and stay fashionable!"
There was a lot of laughter over teh com at Hemlock's joke.
"Alright, cut the chatter. Command, this is Denali Lead. We're approaching patrol zone. Please respond."
"Denali Lead, this is Central Command. Radar reports no contacts. Looks like you've got another easy day, Jester."
"Roger, command. Keep the coffee on for us, 'kay?"
"Gotcha, Jester. You all have fun."

Nathan Williamson, callsign Jester, opened a channel to his squadron.
"Alright, boys. Command reports that they've got no contacts, so we get another easy run."
"Like always, right Jester?"
"Right. " Denali squadron was a second-string squadron that was assigned to Pangea airforce base. They were supposed to be assigned to the next carrier out of Xylion, but that would have to wait. Xylion was concentrating on destroyers at the moment, not carriers.
"Stand by to reduce reduce speed on my mark. Three...two...one...mark."

The 25 AF-X1Bs of of Denalis squadron dropped to subsonic speeds over the small, uninhabited island of Murdoc. They were in loose Flying-V formation.
"Hey, uh, Jester? Rogue here. I'm getting som strange readings."
"Whatcha got there, Rogue?"
"Dunno. The thing's sporatic. I keep getting intermittent contacts."
"What is it?"
"I todl you! I don'tknow!" Looks like an aircraft of some sort."
"Must be one of Eexcalidem's new spy planes. Let's show 'em that we can see 'em, eh?"
"Roger."
Rogue broke off, puring the contact.
Three minutes later...
"MAYDAY! MAYDAY! I'M GOING DOWN! REPEAT! GOING DOWN!"
"Come in, Rogue! Come in!" It was too late. Rogue's IFF icon disappeared from radar. Suddenly, a strange light filled Jester's cockpit, and then all went black.

The Commander of Feazanthia, Feaz Christianson Macleod, was meditating in Lama Temple in Feazanthia City. Two men in black suits entered through the large brass doors at the other end of the temple. Without moving or opening his eyes, Macleod spoke.
"Something's wrong."
"Denali Squadron has disappeared over Murdoc, sir."
"Send out the Avalon, find out where they are. Probably just something wrong with our radar."
"There's...something else, sir. Right before we lost contact, we got strange readings on all frequencies. The techs say it was like an extremely fast plane appeared and disappeared all over the area."
"What? Are you saying that Denali was shot down?"
"We've found numerous debris."
Macleod rose, stepping past them and into an armoured limosine.
What could destroy twenty-five Comets? he wondered.

Subject: Official Air Force Enquiry
To: Representative of Feaz Christianson Macleod
From: Starblaydia Air Reconnassaince Control

Dear Sir,
In a recent training operation, one of our E3 Sentry AWACS craft was conducting maximum-range sensor operations and dectected your flight of AF-X1B Comets. During their flight, they suddenly disappeared from our screens through some unknown source of electronic interference.

Our E3 attempted radio contact but none was forthcoming. Is there any possibility of confirming the events of said occurrence?

Yours Faithfully,
Captain Domingo Ortega,
Starblaydi Air Force,
Starblaydia Air Reconnassaince Control

"Commander," said a naval intelligence officer in the situation room. "We've recieved numerous comuniques from various nations about the incident."
"Give them static, tell them we're having comunications problems."
"Aye sir."
Macleod turned to the other military officials there: General Miles O'Malley of the army, Admiral James Wallace of the navy, and Commodore Michael Perry of the air force.
"Gentlemen, we have a problem. As I'm sure you know, a full squadron of our Comets went down over Murdoc. As I'm sure you also know, there were strange electro-magnetic readings around the area right before we lost contact. What you don't know is that we've traced these readings to a source."
The leaders' eyebrows raised in unison before Macleod continued.
"We believe the readings came from this object." A grainy gun camera picture appeared on the large screen in front of them. It showed a small, bright blue orb of light.
"What the hell is that?"
"So far, the 'spooks' have believed it's some sort of new weapon system. Of course, no one in the region has come forward to say it's theirs. There is...another option. One that I'm reluctant to propose, as intelligence is dismissing it."
"Go ahead, sir," said O'Malley.
"I believe it could be extra-terrestrial."
"Sir," said Wallace. "Are you insinuating that we could be under attack from beings from beyond this world?"
"That is exactly what I'm insinuating."

"This it?" The young man asked, looking at the bright blue light. The man looked at it intently, almost amazed by it, "It sure is pretty, isn't it?" He asked. His superior sighed.
"You ain't here to look at it; you're there to EXAMINE it!" His superior, an aging general told him. That was when the equipment started to go... odd. First, there was the screens flickering. Then, it started to crackle. Finally, it sparked, the scientists throwing it to the ground. Then, it all went blank.

Silence.

"What on Terra just happened?" The general shouted to the scientists.
"I-" one began, trying to turn on a console without success.
"Tell it to me straight." The general added.
"...It... has died." The scientist sighed angrily.
"...DIED?!" THe general shouted. He was enraged.
"...Yeah... It's almost like... like it was..." The scientist thought.
"...Of course..!" The general said, the idea snapping into his mind too.

-TRANSMISSION BEGINS-

The action of Kikoskriat has performed recon on the area and have uncovered an unusual ball of blue light. We found that when we closed in on it, all our electrical equipment failed. That equipment was unable to get working again.

We have therefore come to the conclusion that it was an EMP weapon. We are perfoming tests on the EMP weapon to discover how it works and, more importantly, how it got there.

"Commander, sir, we're getting a cominique from Kikoskriat..."
"Not now, lieutennant. Now, if you gentlemen can think of a better explanation, I'd like to hear it. Anything else we would've detected coming into our airspace."
"Not necessarily, Commander," said Wallace. "An EMP-based weapon would short out our radar when it passed over it."
"EMP-based? Something like that would have to emit a constant charge."
"I'm not saying that we have anything like it, but I'm saying someone else might."
